Chapter 14 – Deadly Midnight Routine

The guards shivered in fright, and the monster hovered mid-air with a hidden look of pride as it had easily proven its fearful power.

“Now! I’ll pardon anyone of you who will show me the way to your so-called elder’s house.”

Leo’s blood-curdling voice made the guards cower and one of the guards stepped out showing his volunteer, “I will show you the way senior master, anything to spare my life.”

“No! Great senior master, I know the way to the elder’s harbor way better than this scramming dog!”

Another guard jumped in front of the other one and a commotion soon began with the guards fighting for the volunteering position.

Meanwhile, Leo looked irritated and he immediately snapped his finger, instructing the monster to do its ordained duty.

A pile of cramped body laid on the ground within mere seconds, and Leo looked dejected to the core.

“I think I’ll find the way myself!” He complained with an evil grin as he began to walk down the seemingly long street lane.

A couple of minutes later, he stopped walking and looked around the surrounding that had a couple of houses erected here and there, yet, the environment was as silent as a graveyard.

“So you all are now conscious about my arrival? Do I need to jerk you all from your fake slumber?”

Leo muttered while staring at the houses all having shut windows. He turned his piercing gaze to the monster that immediately gave a road, loud enough to might even jerk the dead awake.

The atmosphere returned to its silence once the monster's roar ended, leaving Leo even more intrigued.

“I guess I’ll force you all out of your shelter in a very impolite manner?” He shouted into the surrounding which only returned the echo of his words into his ears.

Leo felt raged and over a dozen of four-legged wild creatures appeared on the ground, looking more ferocious than ever with a pair of long and curved fangs that penetrated out of the wide mouth.

They looked like overgrown hyenas, only differing front the rude growl that escaped their mouth, and pale yellowish skin.

“Stop!”

Just when the creatures were ready to pounce at the houses in the area, a loud and masculine voice erupted into the surroundings and Leo immediately seized his command to the creatures.

“Oh! I’ve been looking for your house. Thanks the heavens you’re here.” Leo laughed, pointing at Thomas who looked exhausted in a loose garment.

A couple of well-armored guards stood behind with their longswords that already revealed their sharp edges.

“It can’t be! I thought it was a dragon all along. Meanwhile, it’d been all your doings?”

Thomas's expression looked stuttered as the words left his lips. He turned to the wild creatures under Leo’s legs and a large monster that would scare even a dead soul.

“Duh! What made you ever think of a dragon? Dragons don’t exist you know!”

“But you were rescued by one.”

Leo burst into a round of laughter as soon as Thomas ended his last words. It took more than a couple of seconds before his laughter faded.

“Here you are talking to a so-called stranger like you’re familiar with him!”

Thomas’s brows furrowed and he turned his face hiding his facial expression that remained unknown to both Leo and the other guards.

“And do I know you?” He asked with a face that look serious, “You keep talking like I ever knew…”

“Alright!” Leo quickly interrupted his words and slowly walked toward him with an evil smirk,

“If you could show me your house, I might reveal to you my game plan, or leave the village alone for some days.”

Thomas looked intrigued all of a sudden as he slowly backed away from Leo who began to pace towards him alongside his pack of dead creatures.

“But why do…do you want to know? What will be your gain after all.”

“Think about this Thomas Raynard, you know I’ll easily recognize your house with its luxurious aura. It almost looks like I’m giving you a free decision to make!”

Thomas looked hesitant as he stared into Leo’s dark eyes. He turned to the guards behind who nodded in agreement to Leo’s words.

“Okay, but please do… do something about these creatures.”

“Oh! You’re scared?” Leo laughed like a maniac and the creatures except for the ghost-like creature.

Leo, alongside Thomas and his guards, stood before a luxurious bungalow which was revealed to be Thomas’s house.

The big house had lots of features to jot about, arising from its bright-colored staircase, and mesmerizing beauty.

“Now you’ve seen it, will you please leave!” Thomas begged with appealing eyes and he backed away from Leo whose facial expression darkened.

Leo turned his gaze to his floating monster, and then to the guards whose eyes widened with fear. The monster on the other hand paced towards the guards who readied their swords for whatever was going to happen next.

While the monster went ahead to attack the guards, Leo sneaked into the house.

“Hum, impressive house!” Leo just couldn’t contain his praises as the room looked befitting only for royalty.

The wide room had multiple sofas and a table in the middle of the room. He slowly began to walk further into the room and soon he stood in front of an oak brown door.

“Hello!” He slowly opened the polished door that gave a view of the wide bedroom, where a young woman slept comfortably on her bed and a fine crib beside her.

“Oh! There is the newborn.” Leo quickly paced towards the crib where the handsome latter slept comfortably. He gently picked up the baby and sneaked out of the room, just careful enough to not wake the sleeping woman.

When Leo got outside the house, his gaze fell upon Thomas, including the guards who desperately tried to avoid the deadly attack from the monster.

‘Do I have to stand here and wait? I’m too uncomfortable.’

While Leo struggled to hold the baby comfortably, he felt invisible as the others' attention was totally out of place.

“Stop!” He suddenly screamed out of frustration and the monster stopped attacking the guards.

Thomas finally turned his gaze to Leo and his body shivered with shock from the sight of his son in his arms.

“You… you, please leave him out of this!”

"You seem eager to leave here, young man?" A young and husky voice reverberated from one of the prison cells, and a fairly muscular man revealed himself from the shadows. Oh, that dragon, why isn't it here to save you the way he did before!" "Haha! Stupidly funny. Fortunately, I do not need assistance from any dragon cause I'll be out of here before you know it."
