William and the crew, now under disguise, were strolling around. From ahead, a group of Gravemind cultist strolled in their direction.

They were about fifteen of them in numbers, each of them stood tall with heights above six feets. A few of them had huge muscular builds similar to Theobald's.

Their strides were filled with arrogance, something the other cultist William had slayed lacked.

William was the first to notice the oddity of the group marching in their direction, and he couldn't help but frown. Why were they so different from the others? he asked himself.

William kept his eyes on the small group as they closed in on each other. His eyes was fixed on that of the biggest one in the ground who, coincidentally, also had his eyes locked with his. William could sense weird emotions from his eyes as they jammed; it was something between hatred and disgust.

The two groups were just a few meters away from walking past each other. The silence between them stronger than ever, almost as though they were two enemies walking towards each other on a lonely path.

William and the huge fella still had their eyes fixed on each other, one calm and the other flickering with negative emotions.

And then suddenly.

"Fuck it!"

The hugest in the group moving towards them barked as he lunged towards them with hostility. A large sword magically appeared in his hands, and the crazy fella was ready to slaughter the entire crew with its blade.

Fortunately, William had already noticed the moment his shoulder tensed, signifying he was going to attack anytime soon, and had already prepared to defend the crew from the crazy cultist.

"Die you crazy bastards!"

The huge barked a curse as he swung the large sword downward, a lethal force accompanied the blades of the sword and struck towards King Julian who was currently at the center front of the crew.

Theobald tensed, and the other soldiers moved forward, trying to protect the king from the assailant. But they were too slow.

CLANG!

Fortunately, William was several times faster, and had already appeared in front of King Julian. He lifted the ancient sword and blocked the lethal attack.

The noise of steel clashing reverberated around the place.

"Huh."

The huge fella was confused; how did someone move that fast? Not only that, why was a member of the Gravemind order using a sword? Didn't they shun those who fought with swords?

While he was confused, he did not forget that the group in front of him were his enemies.

He moved back several feet, retaining his composure as he lunged towards William.

William's eyes furrowed as he too lunged towards the huge fella. He could not afford to let anything ruin their plan, not this strange wizard swinging a sword.

'Wizard swinging a sword? That doesn't sound right.'

William was also pretty confused, but he did not hold back his attack.

Both the hero and the crazy huge fella were about to clash when a gentle but powerful feminine voice barked at the two to halt their attacks.

"Both of you! Stop this moment!"

William and the burly built fella were about to clash when a strong but gentle female voice barked at them to stop.

The burly fella acted obediently and halted his attack right away; although a cold killing intent still radiated from his eyes. William also halted his attack, but there was a look of confusion on the face of the hero. Why was there a female amongst the group?

From all he knew, the Gravemind Order comprised only wizards. No females were allowed into the organization.

Heck, the only female who could be present in the entire tower right now would be the female captives.

Not only William, Osborne and the others were also pretty confused after hearing the voice of a female in the group. They exchanged questioning gazes, their hearts sharing the same question.

Nevertheless, while their minds were restless with questions, someone from the hostile group that had halted in front of them walked forward.

The figure was wearing the same attire as the others, but one could easily spot a difference from the graceful and elegant steps this figure moved with.

The elegant strides made it easier for William to pinpoint that this was the owner of the beautiful voice he heard earlier.

William became a little curious to see what face hid under the mask. Judging from the voice, he was already expecting an above average face.

Besides, she would be the first woman from this world he ever set his eyes on. Hence his curiosity.

"Lady Melissa, why did you stop me from killing these bastards?" The burly built man spoke when she arrived beside him; hatred and disdain could still be heard in his voice. "They should…"

Nevertheless, before he could finish speaking, Melissa's hands moved swiftly and landed a slap on the mouth of the burly figure, shutting him up as he instinctively used his large hands to cover his wounded mouth.

"How many times do I have to warn you not to act without my orders?"

The lady asked; her voice was fiercer than it was beautiful this time. It was clear from her tone that she was pissed at the abrupt action of the burly fella.

The burly fella, on the other hand, quickly got on his knees and began apologizing.

"I am sorry, Lady Melissa. I was simply moved by anger and I prom…"

Melissa's body twisted and she landed a kick on his stomach before he could even complete his apology.

He began coughing; his internal organs were in pain. But he did not stop apologizing—the scene was akin to a commoner apologizing to a powerful ruler.

William and the rest watched this scene in silence. Their curiosity to understand the character in front of them increased.

'They are not members of the Gravemind Order,' William concluded in his mind.

Why?

First off, females weren't allowed in the dark wizard cult.

Also, it was easy to point out that they weren't members based on how the burly guy spoke aggressively against them.

It seems he had judged them purely by their disguise as members of the cult and attacked them due to the hate he possessed towards the cult.

This only leaves William with a single question—Who are they and what is their aim? This same question grew in the heart of King Julian and his people.

"I am sorry for his actions."

After Melissa was done reprimanding the stubborn fella, she turned to William and apologized in a gentle voice. The voice was so beautiful and gentle that one wouldn't believe she was capable of throwing punches, let alone beating someone.

William stared at her silently for a few seconds before responding on behalf of the crew who were just as quiet as him.

"No worries."

Melissa nodded softly in response.

An awkward silence prevailed over the small gathering as they simply stared at each other.

"Resume your disguise, that annoying light would soon reach us."

Melissa warned. Both groups understood her words and acted immediately — Both groups immediately began moving as though they were patrolling.

The beam of light reached their position and left, failing to recognize the invaders as they were under disguises.

Once the beam of light passed them, the two groups came back to each other. Their current position seemed as though they were going to engage in a group brawl.

"Who are you and what are your aims?" William asked the question bugging everyone.

Melissa chuckled softly, "We seem to have the goal at the moment seeing that you guys are under the same disguise as us. We plan to take down Gravemind Order."

William already figured out as much so he wasn't surprised by her answers. However, he felt that there was something deeper with their motives.

"Why exactly do you want to take down the cult? You plan to rescue the captives or you have a much bigger motive?"

Osborne was the one who asked the question this time.

Ever since the wizard spotted the group, he felt a strange energy coming from them which confirmed that they weren't ordinary. More over, the energy wasn't mana but it also felt like mana at the same time.

Melissa aimed her gaze at the Osborne, she observed the old wizard for a few seconds before replying.

"You're not completely wrong. While we also plan to rescue the captives, we do have a bigger motive."

"And what might that be?" Osborne asked.

"The cult are in possession of an ancient book of ours. I cannot share the details with you guys but I can assure you that you'll benefit a lot working together with us."

The crew exchanged questioning gazes upon her explanation.

"How can you be of help?" Theobald asked.

"For starters, we can help you penetrate the fence. You guys are not really the best actors, we can also teach you how to act right in order not to procure unwanted attentions to yourself.

My squad and I know exactly how to survive. We've infiltrated the towers for days now and not a single suspicion has been raised. We can't really say the same for you guys, especially him."

Melissa pointed at William after her last sentence.

"Huh? Me?"

William was confused, why was she pointing at him. For all what he knows, he is the only one who could maintain a good composure no matter the circumstances.

"You are an otherworlder. How you entered this world is unknown to me and I really do not care, I've seen a couple of otherworlders myself to be concerned. However, if you plan to enter the tower and not get fished out easily, you need my help."

'How?'

William became even more wary of the woman right in front of him.

Every second, she proved just how extraordinary she was.

Even the wizard was baffled by her explanation and the crew could not help but wonder her real identity and place of origin.

King Julian, charismatic as always, tried to strike a conversation with her and find out about her true identity.

Unfortunately, Melissa was bent on keeping it hidden.

At the end, they could only come to a conclusion that both parties needed the help of one another in order to penetrate and conquer the dark island.

While they were discussing, the bright beam of light rotated past them, causing them to pretend once more to patrol around the fence until it disappeared.

Once it was gone, they regrouped and discussed their plans further.

Melissa spoke the most as she was the leader of her squad.

Aside her, another guy with a tall but skinny build also added to the discussion of the plan.

His name was Peterson and he was her assistant. Peterson introduced himself as an assassin who had spent most of his life serving Melissa and her parents.

Peterson also claimed that he had infiltrated the dark towers before on his own. According to him, he had managed to explore the first six floors under a disguise.

He also claimed that the seventh floor upwards were very difficult to access which was why he left in the past to regroup with his master and come back stronger.

Hearing his story, William was perplexed, he could not help but wonder just how strong the assassin was to infiltrate such a dangerous place alone and leave without getting noticed.

'They are all incredible. Even that burly fella is not weak at all, I could tell from our clash earlier.'

William's mind explored the situation while listening to the narration of the assassin.

William and the crew could be seen strolling towards the vast water body with silent and cautious step. At the moment, each of them had a long black fabric covering their head.
