Early morning had already arrived over the dark island. The sun shone brightly over the evil island, radiating a strong golden glow and heat.
The sun easily permeated the small confinement of the room which only comprised of a few wooden chairs, a bed and a tall wooden cupboard where the previous owner of the room kept their wands and attires. Inside a spacious, dimly-lit room at the dark island, the core members of the two groups could be seen standing around a small desk. Melissa and Peterson brought out a more detailed ancient map of the place and described it to William and Theobald who represented their group. Only two members were allowed to attend the meeting thus both of them were sent. "The first three floors are very easy to clear, they comprise mostly of mid-level apprentice wizards with barely enough mana in their mana reserve to cast powerful spells. While they are a little bit stronger than the wizards guarding the fences, they are not that much trouble for a well-trained swordsman." Peterson explained. "The proceeding three floors are pretty difficult even for a well-trained swordsman like yourself," he pointed at Theobald. "However, they wouldn't be much trouble for you, our otherworlder friend," his gaze aimed at William. It was truly difficult to tell if Peterson knew how strong he actually was or was simply guessing. But William was pretty confident in his power. After all, he could increase his level by slaying the lower-ranked apprentice. The new level might put him on the same league as the wizards on the higher floors or even make him overpowered against them. "You said you could not get past the sixth floor, earlier? How so?" he asked. "There is a magic formation there that restricts lower-ranked members from accessing it. That is where I come in," Melissa responded, bringing all gazes in her direction as she explained. "The majority of the magic formations and barriers governing the dark island came from the ancient book they stole from us. From a young age, I had already begun learning how to operate most of the spells especially lock and restriction spells." Melissa sounded very confident in her ability. Her voice also contained a deep sense of pride as she spoke about her clan and how they were the only ones worthy of possessing the ancient book. This only made William wonder just what powers dwell within the book that had managed to birth such a powerful organization. "The ritual they talked about is also from this ancient book?" Theobald spoke up after she was done narrating. She nodded in response to his question and a frown appeared on the captain's masked face. "Why does your clan possess such an evil book? What do you guys plan to achieve once you get your hands on this book?" Melissa shook her head and replied with an intense glint in her emerald eyes that were revealed from the space in her mask. "The book is under the protection of my people. We have held it for centuries, saving the world from encountering drastic situations like these. We're aware of just how much knowledge and power is contained within it and how quick it could change people and that is why we have chosen to protect it." "How was it stolen then?" "It wasn't stolen." "What?" William and Theobald exclaimed in unison. William's was low while Theobald was pretty loud. "One of the protectors of the book was corrupted with curiosity and stole the book, he studied it secretly until he was caught. After he was caught, he destroyed a part of our clan with the power he obtained from the book, weakening our overall strength by slaughtering more than half our population. Then he suddenly disappeared away from the world and began building the Gravemind cult." The hero and the captain could detect the strong disgust and hatred leaking from her voice as she described the downfall of her once-powerful clan. William and Theobald understood what she felt, especially Theobald. Melissa heaved a long sigh after narrating her story and apologized for her outburst. "You can understand just how much I want to actually bring down this evil organization and claim the head of its founder." William and Theobald nodded. "You can share all your plans with me and rest assured that I'll ensure you succeed," William spoke in a confident tone that piqued the interest of Melissa in him. Her beautiful emerald eyes flashed a soft glow which confirmed the soft smile hidden behind the dark mask. At this moment, William wanted nothing but for that mask to fall off and reveal her face. Fortunately, it didn't. "We've already sent a group in disguise to infiltrate the floor of the tower. Under the disguise, they would request for us and we would be able to penetrate without bringing unwanted attention to ourselves." "That would be great," William responded, "We would be leaving to prepare the others for the mission." Melissa nodded her head with a warm glint in her eyes. Nevertheless, just when both of them turned to leave, Peterson called them back. "It would be better if only the two of you accompany us." he said. "Why?" Theobald asked. Peterson gave a straightforward and honest response without sugarcoating the truth. "The others are pretty weak, I've gauged their strength and they won't be able to stand against the weakest cultist inside the tower in a one versus one. The old wizard can accompany you guys, his eyes hold wisdom that we might need later on." "Understandable," William responded with a nod as he was already considering suggesting King Julian and the others stay in their rooms where they would be safe. After all, he wouldn't have to think of dividing his attention while fighting which would improve his fighting speed. The only downside was that he wouldn't have the effect of [Savior] title. Fortunately, the title would expire in the next three hours so he wasn't really that bothered. He bade Melissa farewell and left the room with Theobald who didn't quite agree with the decision to leave the king and his men behind. Now left alone, Peterson turned to Melissa and asked in a suspicious tone. "Are you really sure about this otherworldler?"

The crew ended up spending more than half an hour discussing about the plans to infiltrate the dark tower, how to act within it, how to avoid suspicions, path to follow, and where to find certain important people inside the tower. Most of the explanation was done by Peterson, the trustworthy assassin of Melissa's squad. His information and description were clear and vivid—better than reading it from a map.Melissa and a few members of her squad also added to the information available. As they had been around the tower for several days, their understanding of the place was an important lesson to William and the others.During their discussions, they had to halt several times—either when the surveillance light flashed in their direction or when actual members of the cult walked by.They were able to finish their discussion without drawing that much attention to themselves. After they were done discussing, they began preparing to act on the plans they had just finalized."Here."Melissa

So you guys heard the same thing?" The one in the middle replied."Frederico wasn't lying, I overheard two of our superiors discussing about his arrival.""I suspect something important would go down in a few days. The great leader never visits the tower unless for a very important event, could it be that the preparing of the grand ritual has been completed and he is here to finalize it?"The

William and the crew could be seen strolling towards the vast water body with silent and cautious step. At the moment, each of them had a long black fabric covering their head. The black fabric served as a camouflage each time the beam of the light rotated in their direction. As the land was plain and filled with dark sand and skeletal remains, covering themselves in black clothings made them more difficult to detect from afar.Thankfully, this barren land had no sort of abnormalities, not even corrupted creatures that usually raided the night. If there were unlucky enough to have faced anyone, their location would be revealed to the cult once and their entire plan would be ruined."Walk faster! We need to be at the island before morning arrives!"Theobald announced to the others while strolling beside the hero. Both of them took long strides forward, their eyes cautiously scanning their surroundings from time to time.King Julian and the others increased their pace and soon caught up

After the peculiar sensation of passing through the portal faded, William found himself standing in a strange, unfamiliar location."Wow!"The scene before him prompted the hero to exclaim in genuine astonishment.Spread before his eyes was a vast, barren land plunged into darkness and gloom. Only the faint crescent light of the full moon hanging in the sky battled the intense blackness. Not far from his current position, William’s gaze fell on a truly vast, large water body that stretched over a long distance, seemingly unending from his perspective. The hero needed no geography expert to tell him this was Dark Island, the sacred landmark and hideout of the most terrifying dark wizard cult in this dark world. The sound of water calmly flowing could be heard clearly, and the waters were almost visible as they softly reflected the moon."What is that?"A surprised voice muttered behind the hero as its owner’s eyes suddenly and instantly fell upon a mysterious, silhouetted structure ris
