He had spent three months in this bamboo forest while trying to open the blockage in the Mana pathways within Lucan's body.
His eyelashes trembled for a few moments before finally opening, albeit slowly. A pair of pitch-black eyes stared sharply ahead.
The bamboo stalks rustled as strong winds blew. Withered leaves fell to the ground, making Lucan whisper, "Autumn ...."
Lucan almost did not realize how much time had passed in the real world. However, he clearly remembered that he had come back to life right at the end of spring.
Lucan stretched both his hands. The sound of joints colliding with each other could be heard after they had not been moved for a long time.
He stood up but was stunned for a moment when he saw disgusting black slime around the place where he had been sitting. It was the waste and poison from his body that came out while he was harmonizing his magical energy.
"I have to clean myself."
Lucan's steps carried him toward the river flowing nearby. Near the river was a large rock where Lucan's body had crashed at that time.
Lucan approached the river, using the clear water to look at his reflection. His lips curved into a satisfied grin after seeing the new face he currently possessed.
Thick, long black eyebrows and hair, a firm jaw without excess fat, as well as the clear black eyes that shone due to the Mana Core that had formed within his body.
"Not bad," Lucan muttered before entering the water. "If someone had helped him smooth his Mana pathways, the owner of this body should have had a better appearance long ago."
The cold water made Lucan's body feel fresher. The muscles clearly defined on his body felt more relaxed and at ease.
When Lucan finished cleaning himself and was putting on his clothes, the rustling of leaves diverted his attention.
WHOOSH!
Lucan lowered his head just in time. Three flying blades were aimed at his head, but he easily dodged them.
Lucan had not even had time to blink when he saw the gleaming metal blades being directed at him again. With a flat expression, he easily deflected the knives.
"Who is there?" he shouted loudly.
Three shadows rushed toward Lucan, their arrival sending dry leaves flying so that dust also rose into the air.
The black-eyed young man remained standing upright in his place, completely unmoved even though three people stood surrounding him.
"I should be the one asking who you are? Why are you wearing my student's clothes?" the figure asked in a hostile tone.
However, that voice instead awakened the memories of the body's owner. Making Lucan almost overwhelmed by the flood of memories that attacked him.
The woman in front of him was named Elena, one of the masters at the Academy where Lucan studied. Elena possessed magnificent beauty like a red rose.
Elena's clothes were always red, making her easy to recognize. Her smile was firm, but so captivating that it seemed capable of melting even a heart made of ice.
Elena's voice still sounded melodious even though she was shouting at Lucan. "Tell me where my student is?! Did you kill him?!"
Lucan smiled broadly—something that rarely happened if not because of Lucan's original nature, which was so friendly and easy to smile. Although the memories of the body's owner were filled with sadness, there was still a little happiness worth remembering.
"Master," Lucan greeted while bowing his body. "Long time no see."
Elena was stunned because the handsome young man before her paid respects like a student to his teacher. However, she quickly regained control of herself. "I have never had a student like you."
Lucan raised his head, looking at Elena with his black eyes. Although the original owner of this body had actually died, Lucan wanted to help him repay his debt of gratitude.
Elena had saved Lucan when he was still a baby. A monster had destroyed an entire village until nothing remained but the ruins of buildings.
The terrifying monster was sniffing a baby crying loudly on the ground. The monster's snout had already opened, ready to devour the helpless little baby.
It was at that moment that Elena came to save his life.
Elena did not only kill the monster and save the baby's life. However, she also gave him a name and provided him with a new home.
Lucan's life was comfortable under Elena's protection. He followed her to the Academy where Elena lived, diligently studying magic even though he often failed.
Everything felt fine even though the other students often mocked Lucan. He did not have time to feel sad because he was busy serving his master.
However, things changed when Elena decided to meditate in magical seclusion. Since a year ago, Lucan no longer had a protector, making him easy to bully.
"It is natural that Master no longer recognizes his student, a year has passed and many changes have occurred."
Elena narrowed her eyes. She recognized the young man's voice. However ... could it be?
The moment Elena thought about it, Lucan said, "After leaving for a year to meditate, Master no longer remembers Lucan?"
The three people in front of Lucan stared in shock.
"Impossible. Lucan had a fat body and chubby cheeks, his face was also covered in pimples!" One of Elena's attendants also spoke. "You are clearly very different from him! Don't try to deceive us!"
Lucan frowned. Elena's attendant sounded more like he was insulting Lucan than accusing Lucan of deceiving them!
Lucan then sighed inwardly. His physical transformation was indeed too drastic to believe.
"Senior, what benefit would I get from disguising myself as someone else?" Lucan asked calmly. "Lucan is neither a nobleman's son nor a prince, there is no benefit for anyone if they pretend to be me."
Elena stood upright in her original position. Her face was still filled with suspicion. "What proof do you have that you are Lucan?"
Elena's attitude was still wary, but deep in her heart she hoped that what the young man said was indeed true.
Lucan was Elena's favorite student. When she did not find Lucan after coming out of her meditation, Elena instead received information from her two eldest students that Lucan had gone missing in the mountain and could not be found.
When all the students felt that there was a possibility Lucan had died, Elena, who refused to accept it, immediately rushed to the mountain to search for Lucan.
However, what she ended up finding was a strange young man wearing Lucan's clothes, something that Elena had specifically given to that student of hers.
"I think Master still remembers this scar," Lucan said while showing the scar from the monster's claw on his back. The wound he had obtained when his village was attacked by a man-eating monster.
Elena was shocked. The scar became undeniable proof. Its shape and location were the same, no one could imitate an old wound like that!
After obtaining certainty, Elena immediately removed her cloak and then approached Lucan. Her face, which had previously been filled with suspicion, became gentle and warm.
"Warm your body with this robe, don't let your body get cold any longer." The beautiful woman covered Lucan's body with her robe, looking very attentive as she held her student's hand.
Elena's action left Lucan stunned. No one had ever been so gentle with him, except his late mother.
This made Lucan smile faintly as he said, "Thank you, Master."
Seeing that the master was already certain of Lucan's identity, Elena's accompanying student said, "Master, how about we return to the Academy now?"
Another student added, "That's right. Junior Lucan must be hungry, he also needs to rest before telling us what happened while he was outside." His eyes still showed suspicion toward Lucan's great transformation.
The suggestion was immediately approved by Elena. She nodded and they brought Lucan back to the Academy.
When the Academy's gate was opened, hundreds of students welcomed the arrival of one of their masters. They greeted her respectfully, just as usual. However, there was one thing that caught their attention.
"Who is he?" A girl asked her friend, captivated by the handsome young man holding Elena's hand.
"Maybe Master Elena's new student."
"Look at his sharp nose! It makes me jealous," another girl interrupted her. "His eyes are so black, as if making me drown every time I look into his eyes," she continued, making the other girls giggle.
Whispers of admiration could be heard here and there, but no one knew who the young man was.
Until finally, when Elena left the arrival garden and went to the area where the students lived, one of them dared to stop one of Elena's accompanying students to ask, "Senior, quickly tell us whether he is a new student? What is his name?"
Their senior stopped walking and asked back, "You don't recognize him?"
"How could we recognize him, when this is the first time he has come here," another girl complained with pursed lips, feeling that the senior was deliberately teasing their curiosity.
Elena's eldest student smiled helplessly at the reactions of his juniors. "He is Lucan."
"What?!”

Fry, the Fried Chicken
Lucan did not know how it happened. Perhaps the contract occurred when the little chicken fell onto his face. However, the contract was clearly a one-sided contract that Lucan had not agreed to, and this showed that the little chicken had devoted itself to him. With a one-sided contract, whatever happened to the little chicken would have no effect on Lucan. It was different from a contracted familiar with the consent of both parties. If the familiar was injured, then its master would also be injured. And vice versa. However, putting that fact aside, Lucan still did not want it. After all, the little chicken was so talkative and could not stop chirping!“You’re happy, aren’t you? Not everyone can be as lucky as you! I–”Unfortunately, no matter how much Lucan did not want it, he had no choice. Even after repeatedly driving the little chicken away, the annoying creature refused to leave and continued following him. From that moment on, Lucan’s days no longer felt peaceful because of the

“Why didn’t you expose Victor’s wickedness?” An unfamiliar voice called out from behind Lucan.Lucan’s shoulders tensed. His eyes became alert as he turned around.WHOOSH!Three silver needle blades shot rapidly from Lucan’s fingers. Straight toward the source of the mysterious voice that had startled him.CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!“Ah!”Following the sound of the needles that embedded perfectly into the wooden wall of the room, a child’s scream could be heard.Lucan stared at the silver needles that had struck the wall precisely. Their blades were still trembling because of the force of the man’s movement.Directly beneath the three needles was a yellow creature that was half-crouching while observing the weapon that had almost taken its life. The chick-like creature trembled in fear, even its beak shaking. With watery eyes, showing that it was on the verge of tears, the creature looked at Lucan with a pitiful expression.“C-cruel! Cruel human!” It took several steps forward, avoiding the
Lucan’s Plan
Not much different from Gideon, who was extremely confused, Elena’s smooth forehead also furrowed because the answer sounded strange to her. As far as she remembered, the boy did not like Victor very much in the past, and often even avoided contact with him.Her chin was raised somewhat high as she observed Lucan. Her movement was somewhat awkward because before cultivating, Elena had always been more accustomed to lowering her head when speaking with her disciple.“Lucan,” she called softly. “If you want to ask to be accompanied by another disciple, just tell me. I will immediately replace him with a disciple you prefer more.”Lucan’s black eyes met Elena’s gaze with a firmness the woman had never seen before. Elena’s heart trembled because of the sharpness in Lucan’s gaze.“There is no need, Master Elena. I am already quite satisfied with Senior Victor.” Lucan respectfully bowed to Elena to express his deep gratitude.Elena sighed inwardly. Even though Lucan had repeatedly stated th
Lucan’s Request
“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan! At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spo
Victor Receives His Punishment
Victor walked hesitantly, as did his two friends following behind him. Their usually long strides were now deliberately slowed down to stall for time.“What are you doing? Master Elena has been waiting for a while,” Gideon reprimanded impatiently. He had already walked ahead to lead the group, but was forced to turn back again because Victor and his friends had yet to appear.“I’m not sure this is a good idea. Master Elena is still exhausted. Maybe this meeting can be postponed so she can rest first,” Victor replied.“What Senior Victor said is true. It would be better for Master Elena to rest first,” one of his followers chimed in.Gideon narrowed his eyes, observing Victor who stood anxiously. Especially when Victor used his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his forehead.“What are you actually afraid of, Victor? I’ve noticed that you’ve been acting very anxious, as if you’ve just made a serious mistake.” Gideon walked closer to observe Victor’s eyes more clearly.Victor brushed his han

“Lucan?” Elena called her student again, bringing Lucan out of his thoughts. “Do you mind?”Elena’s face looked serious, making Lucan unable to avoid it if he did not want to arouse her suspicion.“No, Master,” Lucan replied as he extended his hand and allowed Elena to examine his Mana pathways.Elena closed her eyes, then placed two fingers on the pulse of Lucan’s wrist, examining the flow of the man’s energy. The next second, Elena was startled when she felt the smooth flow of Mana energy throughout Lucan’s body.Elena’s eyes opened quickly. “You managed to clear the blockage in your veins?!” she asked in surprise. “Not only that, you have already reached first-level basic Mage level?!”This was a miracle.Since Lucan was still a baby, Elena had already known that the young man’s Mana pathways were blocked. Even so, Elena still insisted on bringing him to the Academy with the hope that high-quality potions could cure Lucan. Unfortunately, until the last time … every method they trie
