Aethan's eyes glowed with power, his pathways pulsing with energy, and vitality thrumming through his veins. His already muscular body underwent a change as the Typhoon Horse's body shrunk, its Blood Essence being extracted.

Horses were known to be powerful beasts, and a magical beast surely had more power in it. Although the Typhoon Horse wasn't physically based—but Elemental—it still had great physical strength and agility.

Aethan felt his muscles enlarge and compress repeatedly, becoming firmer and more flexible.

The muscle fibers rolled beneath his skin like steel cords, each tendon and ligament becoming sturdier and denser.

His dexterity received a large leap in power, and he felt he could maneuver and change direction faster and easier than before.

Other than that, though, Aethan could feel it… he could feel the unique swirl of Aether flowing through him.

Countless times had he fought Wind Elemental Beasts, and his constant absorption of their Blood Essence was coming to fruition.

The unique, calm—yet shredding—Wind Aether, passed through his Aether pathways, his body attuning itself to it and the Blood Essence Extraction increasing his understanding of the Element.

Blood Essence Extraction seemed to be doing its work and was feeding him, not only vitality and Aether, but also the extracted knowledge of the Wind Elemental creatures whose Blood Essence he had extracted.

The consolidation of the Wind Aethers came naturally to him, and a small Light-Green Core began to form within his Crimson Core, rotating slowly and pooling Wind Elemental Aether towards itself.

From behind, Darion smiled, his prideful expression turning into an unnerving grin.

Everything was going smoothly and gradually, until…

A spark of electricity zipping across the shrunken Horse's body streaked through the air and slammed into Aethan's chest, flinging him backwards like a ragdoll.

The sudden movements caught Darion off guard, but he was still quick enough to move swiftly and catch Aethan right before he crashed into a tree.

His face drained of all colors as he held Aethan, shaking him with worry written all over his face.

“What's happening?!" He asked, perplexed, his voice filled with distress and urgency.

His gaze rolled over Aethan's body, his eyes narrowing in concentration and confusion. He could ‘see’ the sparks dancing across his form, and knew it to be the last will of the Typhoon Horse acting up.

With a surge of his Aether though, a superior pressure fell over the Lightning/Thunder Aether, forcing it into submission. However, before Darion could force it off of Aethan's body, the lingering effect of Blood Essence Extraction took hold of the Lightning/Thunder Aether… and absorbed it!

“NO!!" Darion roared, his Aether flooding Aethan's body with forceful yet controlled movements, trying to seize the Aether before it caused irreversible damages.

Darion felt his mind go blank for a moment when the Lightning/Thunder Aether was sucked in, and he paused, his heart beating out of his chest, threatening to jump into his mouth.

Aethan shuddered, his skin charring and peeling off suddenly as the Lightning/Thunder Aether ravaged his Core and insides.

Aethan wasn't careless by any means, but what he didn't expect was to get zapped by a stray, will-controlled Aether of a beast he just killed.

He didn't even know something like that was possible. If he did, he would have been extra careful and taken more precaution.

Suddenly, the effects of Blood Essence Extraction triggered again, its finesse and methods unmatched as it culled the rampaging Aether.

It put a leash on it, subduing it in seconds and pulling it into the Crimson Core.

Though all these happened in seconds, it was enough to fry Aethan from the inside out, turning him into a living, breathing, roasted humanoid.

The two Aethers, Wind and Lightning/Thunder, met within the Crimson Core, and as if sensing their similar origins, they shot towards each other and began bonding, fusing into one seamlessly.

There was no grand display of an unexplainable phenomenon, just a short, silent fusion of two Elemental Aethers.

Aethan's body twitched once, then shuddered again, before going completely still.

Darion panicked, cold sweat matting his back.

Was it a mistake on his side for bringing Aethan to creatures far above his league?

He only wanted the best for his son and gave him a good challenge, believing that he had the strength to overcome it.

Aethan had gone beyond his expectations and done more than he believed he could do regardless, but it had come at a cost.

…The cost of his son's life.

Darion shot up to his feet like a spring, and with calculated movements and smooth control of his Aether, the ground beneath Aethan rose, hovering before Darion quietly.

The silence of the forest was soon shattered by the pounding of Darion's feet as he dashed at his fastest speed towards home.

“Martha can heal him!” He mumbled the words, reassuring himself.

---

An hour later, Aethan was resting silently in his bed, his breathing regulated and his skin smooth and pristine. His brows were furrowed in his sleep as if he were in pain, but he didn't let out a single sound, laying there in silence.

Martha's jaw clenched in frustration.

There were no signs of him having gone through a terrible shock and third-degree burn on the surface, but if one looked within him, they would see a mess of a system.

His internal organs were still having a hard time healing, and his mother was straining herself to do so.

For some reason, Blood Essence Extraction wouldn't deactivate and let the healing ability of her Light Aether to do its work, resulting in Aethan's body absorbing her Aether greedily without any positive effects.

It did nothing to help his bodily state, only accumulating Light Aether in it for future purposes.

They had no choice but to wait patiently, hoping that he would wake up before the situation could get any worse.

“This is all my fault,” Darion muttered under his breath, raising a hand to his face while the other was akimbo.

Martha sent him a glance, her contorted expression softening into a reassuring smile.

“Don't blame yourself darling. It wasn't what you could have predicted," she said to him.

Darion smiled back at her, his mind calming at her words.

Suddenly, Aethan stirred in his sleep, his fingers twitching as he jolted awake, eyes shooting wide open and sudden winds and crackling electricity whipping around his forearms and fists.

Martha gasped.

“Is that… Galethunder!" She said out loud; just loud enough for Darion to hear, but not enough for the disoriented Aethan to.

“They actually merged…" Darion replied to his wife, his face a mix of awe, pride and disbelief.

It seemed like he had underestimated their Bloodline. Even in Aethan's unconscious state, it had fused Wind and Lightning, merging them into a single, rare force—Galethunder.

  • Storm's Descent

“This just proves my thoughts,” Aethan mumbled after crossing a few meters, his feet tapping against the obsidian floor with astonishing speed. As he got closer to the throne, the oppressive feeling coming from the charred figure on it increased, and the frequency of the Thunderbolts multiplied, their deadliness becoming more apparent. Aethan was then forced to slow down and calculate his steps more often. He was still moving quickly though, and at that rate, he would reach his target shortly. Yet, that didn't prevent him from sustaining his first injury in this stage of the Dungeon. A particularly large thunderbolt struck the floor with dire force after Aethan weaved out of its way, albeit the branching arcs of electricity caught his ankle, sending a jolt through his body.Aethan spasmed. The paralyzing effect of the thunderbolt affected his next moves, and a second thunderbolt struck true, charring his flesh. Lichtenberg figures appeared on his skin immediately. Simultaneously,

  • Echoes of a Fallen God

Aethan got tunnel vision and a splitting headache as soon as the part of the Magic Circle responsible for teleportation activated. The headache stemmed not just from the movement through space, but also due to his mind still reeling from the sudden flood of information. His mind spun, and he almost emptied the contents of his stomach. But his body, pulsating with vitality, stopped him from doing just that. The teleportation didn't take long and ended just seconds later, with Aethan finding himself in a large hall. However, he barely had time to study the hall properly before his senses blared warning alarms in his head, and he rolled to the side, springing up to his feet in one fluid motion, his Aether surging violently.BOOM!Aethan's ears rang as a thick bolt of Lightning struck the spot he had been lying moments ago. The Lightning cracked the obsidian tiles easily, sending jagged fractures racing across it. It spread out like a net, striking anything and everything close enough

  • Inheritance of the Stormcallers

Aethan realised that he was wrong to call that affinity Wind. The real term was Gale, an affinity tied to an extinct race of Humanoid beings known as the Stormcallers. They once occupied this Realm’s Dungeon—living there, to be precise—before they were forced to leave after being attacked by an enemy race. “How do I know all this?" Aethan suddenly mumbled, feeling like the new knowledge he gained wasn't normal. Yes, he had received the memories of the Wraiths after absorbing their Essence, but they had just been born, and the only memories they possessed were of using Gale effectively in combat. The memories he had received from the two Wraiths contained what he was thinking of at the moment, but not enough to give him such an in-depth understanding of the Stormcallers. “So where did it come from?" Aethan mumbled. He studied his surroundings, searching for something—anything—that could help him solve the dilemma. He raised a brow when he caught sight of glowing spots on the groun

  • Gale

Aethan dealt with three Wraiths swiftly, but let the last two continue to attack him. He allowed them to adapt, giving them the chance to pose a challenge to him. His goal was quite simple; allow them to get strong enough, then use Blood Essence Extraction to extract the Essence within the glass-like pebble acting as their Cores. Aethan wasn't so sure it was going to work. Blood Essence Extraction was called that because it worked on beings with blood—at least that's what his father had said. But as the inheritor of the bloodline, he understood its intricacies better and more intricately than anyone else did. Blood Essence Extraction didn't only work on blood. It worked on anything having Aether and Life Force. That wasn't to say that he could extract Aether from anything using Blood Essence Extraction though.Instead, what it implied was that he could sense the Essence of a being rooted deeply within them and pull at it, th

  • Wind Wraiths

Aethan's gaze sharpened, his Aether churning vigorously. He retreated calmly, watching as wind began to rush out from the three holes and accumulate before him. In no time flat, three faceless, humanoid creatures formed and began attacking him. Aethan moved immediately, dodging awkward blows coming from the flying creatures. They lacked finesse and cooperation, attacking at every opportunity. Their movements were like that of newborns; decisive, yet stupid—most of the time. They didn't think twice before committing to an attack, not caring if it hindered them in the process. ‘Wraiths,’ Aethan thought, trying to grasp the intricacies of the creatures moving about. They were formed from the holes in the walls… or more likely, from something within the walls. The wind didn't come from within the wall, but had gathered when the wall opened up, affirming his thoughts of it being the work of an object. The object—whatever it was—was, perhaps, what had created the Wraiths and imbued

  • Dungeon

The wind howled furiously in Aethan's ears as Ignaroth covered large distances with little effort. The light tap of his feets against the ground—despite his large size—was drowned out by the beating of his heart, and harsh winds. Regardless, Aethan's grip on Merek didn't loosen one bit, and the soothing circulation of his Aether around his body calmed his nerves. Aethan's shock only grew when they came to a stop, and Merek claimed that the Infernal Lycan-wannabe wasn't even using a tenth of its speed. Aethan tried to imagine just how fast it was, then, at its top speed, but his mind failed to picture such a thing properly, and it just made him want to get a Totembeast all the more. “The Dungeon is just ahead. I'm sure you can sense it,” Merek claimed, pointing a finger at a warp in reality ahead of them. Aethan's gaze sharpened as his eyes landed on the distorted space in the distance. The feeling he got from the Dungeon gate reminded him of what it felt like to be in the presenc
