Chapter 2.

Noah gave up on sleep around two in the morning. He had checked his bank balance three times already.

$64.

Still the same.

Three dollars had turned into thirty. Noah needed to know if that had really happened or if the system had simply glitched.

Early the next morning, he left his apartment and stopped at a breakfast place he had passed countless times without ever going inside.

Today, he ordered the food he usually looked at through the window. Eggs, toast, bacon, and coffee.

The total came to $10.

He handed over his debit card. The moment the payment went through, Noah pulled out his phone.

A notification appeared.

[Purchase: $10]

He waited.

A second passed then another notification popped up.

[Reward: $100]

Noah opened his banking app.

$154.

“So it’s real.”

One transaction wasn't enough. Before he started spending recklessly, Noah needed to know what the catch was.

On his way to the bus stop, he bought a $2 ticket.

His phone vibrated again.

[Purchase: $2]

[Reward: $20]

Balance: $174

A smile tugged at the corner of Noah's mouth.

Not a coincidence.

The system actually worked. Which meant there had to be a limit. As if the system had heard him, another notification appeared.

[Warning.]

[Rewards can only be generated through legitimate purchases.]

Noah frowned. “So I can't just transfer money to myself?”

[Self-transactions are not eligible.]

“Yeah. I figured.”

If he could send a dollar to his own account and get ten dollars back, there would be nothing stopping him from creating money forever.

He was about to put his phone away when another notification appeared.

[Daily spending limit: $100.]

Noah stopped. “One hundred dollars?”

He opened the calculator.

$100 × 10.

$1,000.

That was the maximum reward he could generate today.

It wasn't enough to turn his life around overnight but it was enough to make a difference.

Noah closed the calculator.

The real problem wasn't finding money anymore. It was figuring out how to spend it.

---

By late morning, Noah walked into a clothing store he'd been passing for years.

His wardrobe had barely changed in almost two years. A handful of work shirts, two faded pairs of pants, and shoes that had seen better days.

Today, he didn't have to worry about the price. He picked out two pairs of pants, several shirts, a new pair of shoes, and a jacket.

The total came to $87.

He paid by card. A few seconds later, his phone buzzed.

[Purchase: $87]

Noah checked the screen.

[Reward: $870]

He opened his banking app.

$1,024.

Noah let out a quiet laugh. “This is insane.”

That morning, he had $64.

Now he had crossed the thousand-dollar mark after buying clothes he actually needed then he remembered the daily limit.

$13 remaining.

He wasn't about to leave it unused.

A few minutes later, he walked into a small restaurant across the street and looked through the menu. He chose a meal that came to exactly $13.

The payment went through.

Another vibration.

[Purchase: $13]

[Reward: $130]

Then came the final notification.

[Daily spending limit reached.]

Noah checked his bank balance.

$1,164.

Less than a day ago, he'd been wondering whether he had enough money to pay for a ride home. Now he had more than a thousand dollars and this was only day one.

His phone buzzed again.

Noah glanced down.

[Complete 7 consecutive days to unlock Level 2.]

His eyebrows lifted. “There's a Level 2?”

He read the message again.

Seven days.

If the system could give him more than a thousand dollars in a single day, Noah couldn't help wondering what Level 2 would bring.

---

That night, Noah sat on the edge of his bed and typed out everything he'd learned into his phone.

System Rules

- Purchases must be legitimate and actually completed.

- Transactions with himself don't count.

- Fake transactions don't generate rewards.

- Reward money can be used for future purchases.

- The spending limit can change.

Noah read through the list then he added one more rule.

Don't buy things just for the reward.

He saved the note.

If every purchase gave him ten times the money back, there was no reason to start buying things he didn't need. The system could improve his life, but only if he used it properly.

Noah put his phone on the bedside table and finally went to sleep.

The next morning, a notification appeared on his screen.

[Daily spending limit: $500.]

Noah blinked and checked it again.

Yesterday, the limit had been $100 now he could spend up to $500.

“So it can increase.” His thoughts immediately went to his laptop.

It had shut down on him several times that week. He needed a reliable one for work, and there was no reason to keep putting it off.

By late morning, Noah was at an electronics store. After comparing a few models, he chose the laptop he'd been wanting for months.

$480.

Not long ago, that price would have sent him looking for a cheaper alternative. Today, he simply checked his balance and took the laptop to the register.

The payment went through.

His phone buzzed.

[Purchase: $480]

[Reward: $4,800]

Noah opened his banking app. His balance had jumped again.

“Four thousand eight hundred…” A laugh escaped him.

For years, buying a laptop had meant watching his savings disappear. Now one purchase had given him enough money to buy several more. Still, he wasn't going to blow it all on electronics.

On his way home, Noah stopped for groceries and picked up food he actually liked instead of comparing every price on the shelf.

For once, he could buy what he wanted without calculating what would be left in his account afterward.

When he finished, he checked his balance.

Plenty of money remained then another notification appeared.

[You have earned enough to change your living conditions.]

[Recommended purchase: Better accommodation.]

Noah looked at the message, then at the new laptop in his bag.

The suggestion made sense.

He'd wanted to move for a long time. His apartment was cramped, the walls were thin, and the air conditioner had a habit of dying whenever the weather got hot. A few months ago, the bathroom had even leaked for almost a week before the landlord finally fixed it.

He had stayed because the rent was cheap. That was no longer a problem.

Noah opened an apartment listing app and started browsing. If the system was going to keep giving him money, maybe it was time to upgrade his living situation too.

He stopped at a listing with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of the city.

The rent made him whistle.

“All right. Let's see if I can actually afford this.”

---

A few hours later, Noah found an apartment that was a huge improvement over his current place.

It wasn't enormous, but the location was excellent. The building had better facilities, his commute would be shorter, and the rent was still reasonable.

Noah read through the lease carefully before paying the deposit and several months of rent upfront.

Total: $4,000.

He handed over his card.

The payment went through.

His phone buzzed.

[Purchase: $4,000]

Noah waited.

[Reward: $40,000]

He opened his banking app. The balance had jumped again.

“Forty thousand…”

Four thousand dollars had just become forty thousand.

Noah shook his head. “This keeps getting crazier.”

The property manager glanced at the payment confirmation. “Mr. Reed.”

Noah looked up.

“If you're interested in something more upscale, we have another unit that's just been renovated.”

“More upscale?”

“A penthouse.”

Noah wasn't sure he'd heard correctly. “How much?”

The manager gave him the price.

$900,000.

Noah stared at him. “Nine hundred thousand?”

“It was recently renovated. The view is one of the best in the building.”

Noah looked down at his phone. A few days ago, a number like that would have been completely out of reach.

Now, he could afford it. That didn't make spending $900,000 any less insane.

His phone vibrated.

[Major purchase detected.]

[Reward multiplier remains active.]

Noah looked at the notifications, then back at the manager. “Can I see it?”

---

Two hours later, Noah stood inside the penthouse.

The living room was spacious, with a modern kitchen, three bedrooms, and a balcony overlooking downtown. Floor-to-ceiling windows covered one side of the room, giving him a clear view of the city below.

He walked toward the glass. His old apartment suddenly felt very far away.

The manager handed him the final documents. Noah read everything carefully before signing.

The payment went through.

His phone buzzed.

[Purchase: $900,000]

A few seconds later—

[Reward: $9,000,000]

Noah froze.

$9,000,000.

He checked the number twice before opening his banking app.

The balance was real.

Nine million dollars.

He slowly sat down on the sofa. “Wow.”

That was all he could manage.

Another notification appeared.

[Level 2 Requirements]

[Purchase an asset worth at least $100,000.]

Noah frowned.

So that was the next requirement. He opened a search app and started looking. A few minutes later, a used luxury car caught his attention.

Price:

$120,000.

Noah checked the vehicle history, maintenance records, and ownership documents.

Everything looked clean.

That afternoon, he went to the dealership. After a final inspection, he signed the paperwork.

His phone buzzed.

[Purchase: $120,000]

[Reward: $1,200,000]

Noah couldn't help smiling.

He was starting to understand how the system worked. It wasn't asking him to waste money. It rewarded him for spending money on things he could actually use. The more valuable the legitimate purchase, the bigger the reward.

Noah walked out of the dealership with the new car keys in his hand. He was reaching for the door when someone called his name.

“Noah?”

He stopped and turned.

Claire stood a few yards away.

Victor was beside her.

Claire's eyes went straight to the car.

“That yours?”

Noah didn't answer immediately.

Victor stepped closer and looked the car over. “Don't tell me you bought this.”

Noah closed his hand around the keys.

A dealership manager came out carrying a folder. “Mr. Reed, everything's been processed. The registration is under your name.”

Victor's expression changed.

Claire didn't say a word.

Victor looked at Noah. “How did you get that kind of money?”

“That's none of your business.”

Noah opened the car door.

“Noah, wait.” Claire took a step toward him.

He lowered the window. “What?”

She hesitated. “We need to talk.”

Noah looked at her. A few days ago, those words would have been enough to make him stop.

Now, not anymore.

“We're done talking.” The window went back up.

Noah pulled away from the dealership.

Before he even reached the main road, his phone buzzed.

[Level 2 Completed.]

He glanced at the screen.

Another notification appeared.

[New multiplier unlocked: 20×.]

Noah stared at it.

Ten times had already given him millions. Now the system was offering twenty. He couldn't help wondering how far this thing could really take him.
