Nolan stood in front of Savannah’s house, adjusting his shirt. His heart was racing, filled with so many emotions, but the one that stood out the most was happiness.

He finally had the money for the wedding and he could finally marry the love of his life.

Taking a deep breath, he pressed the doorbell. The door swung open almost immediately and Savannah’s mother with her arms folded and eyes cold, glared at Nolan.

“How dare you disturb me this hot afternoon?” she snapped. “Didn’t I make it clear to you and that aunt of yours never to show up here again? Were you deaf, or are you suffering from some ear infection? Maybe your poverty has affected your brain too! Do you think this is a charity house? Coming here, dressed like a beggar. Do you have no shame at all?”

She scoffed and took a step forward.

“In case you didn’t hear me last time, let me make it clear again. You’re not worthy of my daughter. Your family is so poor, I won’t even let you near my dog. You’re nothing but a walking disgrace. Jobless, useless, and hanging onto my doorstep like some desperate street rat!

“Just take a look at you, always dressed like a rejected beggar from the slums. If I had my way, you wouldn’t be allowed within ten feet of my compound.”

“Now get your filthy self out of here and don’t ever come back. I’m not interested in hearing any begging!”

“I’m not here to beg, ma,” Nolan said quickly. “I came with the money for the wedding.”

She paused, blinking in disbelief.

“You have the money for everything I asked for?” she sneered. “Is this some kind of joke? Are you trying to impress me with some empty bag stuffed with papers?”

Without saying a word, Nolan dropped the bag he was holding. He unzipped it and pulled it open, revealing stacks of crisp hundred-dollar bills.

Savannah’s mother froze.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the money, and with trembling hands, she reached down and touched it. It was real.

She gasped. “Wha—?”

“Can I come in now?” Nolan asked calmly. “This isn’t something we should be discussing outside.”

Still stunned, she looked from the money to Nolan, then back to the money. After a few seconds, her expression changed and a wide smile stretched across her face.

“Of course, my dear. You can come in!” she said, laughing suddenly. “Don’t mind me. I was just… surprised.”

Nolan stepped inside, and she welcomed him like royalty. She even poured him a drink and asked what he wanted to eat. When he said he wasn’t hungry, she insisted and pushed food on him anyway.

He couldn’t help but compare it to the last time he came with his aunt. Back then, she had humiliated him, insulted them both, and didn’t even offer them water. No smiles. No kindness. Just pure disdain.

But now?

Now, she was acting like he was her long-lost son.

Nolan felt a quiet satisfaction. He didn’t care about how Savanna’s mother had treated him before. All that mattered now was being with the woman he loved.

He couldn’t wait to see Savannah’s reaction when she found out he could finally pay for the wedding.

“My dear,” she said sweetly, sitting across from him. “To be honest, I didn’t expect you to bring the money. But I can see now that you’re truly sincere about my daughter.

Nolan blinked slowly. So now I’m sincere?

Just a few minutes ago, she said he wasn’t worthy of Savannah. Now, because he brought money, he was suddenly the perfect man?

He didn’t respond to her comment. He just shook his head and went straight to the point.

“There’s about five hundred thousand dollars in this bag,” he said.. “It should cover everything on the list you gave.”

He was going to say he’d add more later, since he could now afford it but after remembering how she treated him and his aunt, he changed his mind.

Savannah’s mother opened the bag again and grinned. “Hmm… although it might not be enough in the long run, I guess we can manage it for now,” she said with a laugh. But deep down, she was scheming.

“If he could drop $500,000 like this, he can definitely bring more. I’ll make sure to squeeze more out of him.” She thought to herself.

“Oh yes, before I forget,” she said suddenly, “there’s the matter of buying a house. I hope you haven’t forgotten. That’s the most important part of the wedding plan.”

Nolan didn’t even flinch like he would have. “That’s not a problem at all. I’ll handle it. As long as you give your blessing for me to marry Savanna, I’ll get us a house. In fact, I plan to buy one in the biggest estate in the country.”

Savannah’s mother’s eyes widened. She stood up, squealed with joy, and started dancing around the living room. After a few minutes of dramatic celebration, she sat down again, reached for Nolan’s hand, and held it tightly.

“You see,” she said with a laugh, “everything I said to you yesterday and this morning, don’t take it to heart. I was just… testing you. Deep down, I always knew you were a good and genuine man. In fact, I told Savanna last night not to lose you. You’re the perfect husband for her. You’re destined to be my son-in-law!”

Nolan looked at Savannah’s mum in disbelief. He could tell she was just feeding him lies, and it disgusted him. It was painfully obvious that her sudden change in attitude had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the money.

“Is Savannah not home?” he asked, pulling his hand away from hers.

“Oh, she said she wasn’t feeling… too good, so she went for a run,” Savannah’s mum replied quickly, stuttering a bit.

She had lied. Savannah didn't go out for a walk, she went out yesterday night and wasn't back from where she went and she didn't want Nolan to know about that.

“Excuse me for a moment,” she said quickly and hurried inside before Nolan could ask any more questions.

If Jett really wanted to prove himself, he would have to pay for everyone here and that was the only way to keep up the act. Still, he didn’t want to show that he was panicking. So he straightened his shoulders and put on a smile again.“Alright,” he said quickly, pulling his arm from Savannah’s grip. “You guys wait here. I’ll go talk to the butler and sort everything out.”He turned around and started walking slowly toward the reservation desk, each step heavier than the last. His hands were in his pockets, his fingers nervously tapping his phone. He was already thinking of ways to talk himself out of this without looking like a coward.Behind him, the girls watched with big smiles on their faces, proud of him like he was some kind of king.Jett walked up to the butler with slow steps, trying not to look nervous. His heart was beating fast, and he quickly looked back over his shoulder to check if Savannah or any of the others were following him. Luckily, they were all still standing

A man dressed in a neat black butler uniform stepped out from a hallway. He had white gloves on and a small notebook in his hand. With a polite smile, he walked toward the group and gave a small bow before speaking.“Good afternoon, everyone,” he said with a warm, professional tone. “Are you here for the grand opening event of the hotel, or are you just here to dine at the restaurant?”The group all turned to him. Jett stepped forward confidently and gave the man a quick look from head to toe, like he was sizing him up.“Just talk to me,” Jett said, waving a hand as if he didn’t want the man to look at the others. “I’m the one in charge here. What exactly is happening today?”The butler gave a polite nod. “Of course, sir,” he replied, keeping his voice calm and respectful. “Today is the official launch of the hotel and as part of the celebration, we also have our restaurant open for special guests.”He flipped open his small notebook and checked something quickly before looking up aga

“Excuse me, what’s your business here?” The bouncer asked firmly.Sonya blinked like she hadn’t heard him right. “What did you just say?”The bouncer stood straight and repeated himself. “What’s your business here? This entrance is for guests only.”Sonya’s face turned red. “Do you know who I am?” she snapped, planting her hand on her hip. “My uncle works here, and he’s not just anybody! If he hears that you stopped me, you’re going to lose your job today, you fat, bald idiot!”Sariah nodded quickly, backing her up. “Yeah, you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to.”But the bouncer didn’t move. He didn’t even pay attention to what she was saying. He kept his hand up and didn’t let them pass.Jett, Savannah, and Dora stopped behind the twins, looking confused. Sonya had promised that getting in would be easy since her uncle worked at the hotel, and now they were being blocked.Sonya’s mouth tightened, and she pulled out her phone angrily. “Ugh! “Where exactly are you even going that you’re calling it a place where I can’t be on the same level as you or that I wouldn’t be able to afford to go?” Nolan asked, folding his arms tightly. His voice was still calm, but his eyes showed that he was burning with anger inside. Normally, he would’ve walked away. Normally, he would’ve just let it slide but today was different.Jett moved closer to Nolan, standing right in front of him like he was trying to make him feel small. He folded his arms, raised his chin, and looked at Nolan like he was nothing.“This isn’t just some regular hotel, alright?” Jett said slowly, like Nolan was too dumb to understand. “This is a five-star place. A real luxury hotel. People who stay there have money, real money. People who wear designer clothes every day, not just on special occasions.”Nolan didn’t back down or step back. He stood his ground and kept his arms crossed, his jaw clenched tight. But inside, he was trying to hold himself back from hitting

“So… you all expect me to cry over a woman?” Nolan asked, raising a brow. “Is that what this is about? That I’m supposed to be sad and broken just because Savannah isn’t mine anymore?”He shook his head and let out a small laugh even though deep down, he was pained and still sad. “That doesn’t even make sense,” he said. “Do you know how many women I could have right now if I wanted to? I’m not heartbroken. Trust me. I just don’t chase people who don’t want me.” For a second, there was silence. Then Dora stepped forward with a scowl on her face.“You’re such a scum, Nolan,” she snapped, arms folded tightly across her chest. “How could you say that? It hasn’t even been two days since you and Savannah broke up! And now you’re talking about having women around you like she’s just some random person?”Nolan didn’t say anything, but Gabriel, who was standing beside him, let out a loud scoff.“Oh please,” Gabriel said, clearly annoyed. “Are you kidding me right now? Can’t you see that Sava

Nolan stepped out of the store first, his hands in his pockets, happy with how everything played out. Gabriel followed right behind him. “That,” Gabriel said, clapping Nolan on the back with a grin, “was legendary. I mean, wow. I didn’t expect you to do that. You really had me thinking Fiona was going to walk out with that bag.”He shook his head, still impressed. “But seriously, where the hell did you get that kind of money from? What are you not telling us? I’m so confused and curious at the same time”Nolan chuckled under his breath, the corners of his lips twitching. “It’s a long story,” he said, glancing at him. “But don’t worry. I’ll tell you about it soon.”Gabriel opened his mouth to say more, but then, Cole walked out of the store with a heavy sigh. He ran his hand through his hair and shook his head, looking like he hadn’t recovered from what just happened.“I just hope Fiona doesn’t hold a grudge over all this,” He muttered quietly, avoiding Nolan’s eyes.Gabriel turned to
