A bright yellow sports car pulled up in front of Savannah’s house. She and her best friend, Dora, got out. Jett, the driver, followed behind them and jogged over to Savannah, pulling her into a hug.
Savannah was dressed in a skimpy dress with heavy makeup, and Dora looked the same. They met Jett at the club the night before after Savannah had texted him. He had been interested in Savannah for a long time, and when she finally reached out to him, he was thrilled. He took her to a bar with his friends, and she invited Dora along. After some time at the bar, they all went to the club. Jett kissed Savannah on the lips, holding her tight and she wrapped her arms around him, kissing him back. Dora giggled as she watched. After a moment, Dora cleared her throat. “I’m still here, guys, in case you forgot,” she said with a smirk. Jett pulled away, looking at Savannah. “I’ll let you go before I drag you back into my car,” he said. “I’ll see you again, right?” Savannah smiled, tapping his chest. “Of course, we’ll meet again.” Jett winked and got into his car, driving off. Once he was gone, Dora grabbed Savannah’s arm. “What’s going on with you and Jett?” she asked, her voice full of curiosity. “It’s only been one night, and now he’s already asking when you’ll meet again. What did you do!? He’s suddenly wrapped around your finger.” Savannah rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. We’re just friends. Nothing more.” “Friends?” Dora laughed. “Just friends, and he was kissing you like that? I even had to stop you two before you started tearing each other’s clothes off. Friends my foot!” Savannah sighed. “Enough, Dora. You’re overthinking it.” “Oh, so now I’m overthinking? You think I didn’t notice when the both of you left the club quietly? You disappeared for three hours! I was worried, but now, after seeing that kiss earlier, I’m more curious than concerned. Where did you go, Savannah? What did you two do? I need answers!” Savannah said nothing. She just smiled. “Huh? Is that a smile?” Dora gasped. “Oh my God, Savannah! I hope it’s not what I’m thinking. Did you sleep with Jett last night?” she screamed. Savannah blushed and quickly covered her ears. “Would you stop screaming? If you keep saying nonsense, I’m going inside,” she snapped, walking to the front door. Dora was right, to an extent. She and Jett had almost slept together. They made out and had a wild, steamy night. It helped her forget the argument with Nolan. She needed a distraction, and Jett had provided it. Savannah opened the door and froze. “Why aren’t you going in? What’s wrong?” Dora asked, puzzled by her friend’s sudden stop. “Nolan is here,” Savannah replied coldly. Dora’s eyes widened. Without a second thought, she pushed Savannah aside and stormed into the house, her eyes locking on Nolan. “What’s going on, Savannah?” Dora asked angrily. “Didn’t you break up with him? What is he doing here again?” She turned to Nolan and gave him a disgusted look, her eyes trailing up and down as if he were dirt under her shoes. She had never liked him and always told Savannah she deserved better. “Hi, Savannah,” Nolan said with a soft smile, ignoring Dora completely. “Why are you here?” Savannah asked, her tone flat. “I came to talk to your mom about our wedding again. Things didn’t end well last time, and I want to fix that,” Nolan replied, scratching the back of his head. “Fix what? What a joke!” Dora exploded. “Don’t you have any pride at all? Don’t you get it? Can’t you take a hint? See you crawling back like some desperate stray. Savannah’s done with you! She’s not interested in you anymore and she has moved on! Why are you still here, trying to force something that’s already dead? Why so desperate!? You’re so pathetic annoying and disgusting!” “This is between me and Savannah,” Nolan said, his voice rising. “I don’t see why you think you have a say in this, mind your business.” “I’m not just anyone,” Dora shot back. “I’m her best friend. It’s my job to protect her from losers like you. I won’t stand by while my friend throws her life away on someone who can’t even stand on his own feet.” “You have no future, no ambition, and no class. You’ve always been a failure and I won’t let my friend settle for one. Just give it a rest and crawl back to whatever gutter you came from.” Nolan clenched his fists, his jaw tightening. He had known for a long time Dora didn’t like him, but this was too much. “Dora’s right,” Savannah added, her voice emotionless. “I’ve tolerated you for so long, and I’m done. I need someone who values me.” Nolan tried to speak, but she cut him off. “I don’t want to hear anything else. And if you didn’t hear me clearly before, let me say it again. I’ve never loved you, Nolan. I only kept you around because I was bored. I needed someone to pass time with, but now I’m done. So stop trying and also, stop embarrassing yourself. This thing between us was never real to me. It was just a game and you were the fool who thought it meant something.” Nolan burst into laughter, shaking his head in disbelief. “That can’t be true. We were in love, Savannah. Where is all this coming from? Don’t you remember? The late-night calls, the promises we made? We talked about our future, our marriage, building a life together, growing old side by side. I was ready to give you everything I had. I gave you my heart.” “How can you stand there and act like none of it meant anything? Like I meant nothing? Was it all a lie? Was I just a fool in love while you were pretending the whole time? I refuse to believe that.” Then realization hit him. “You’re still angry, aren’t you? Angry because I didn’t sell my aunt’s land to pay for the wedding? I get it now. But I’ve fixed it.” He grabbed the bag beside him, unzipped it, and pulled out wads of cash, placing them on the table. “There’s enough here for everything. The entire list. The wedding. Everything.” He looked into her eyes, his voice softer. “Don’t you want to reconsider what you just said?”Latest Chapter
Chapter 300
“Good afternoon Mr Nolan, I'm so sorry to keep you waiting.” The managing director said hurriedly as soon as he saw Nolan's face on the screen. His voice was tight and nervous, almost like he was afraid to talk wrongly. He also didn't expect Nolan to be this young at all. From the very first look at Nolan's face, and the smile plastered there made his heart sink. It was a calm smile but it didn't reach his eyes and that was what scared the managing director. .The managing director had been able to get away with a lot of things for years because Nolan's grandfather was already old and tired. He didn't like coming to the company anymore and he trusted people easily. He didn't have the strength or patience to start checking records, accounts and day to day affairs of the company he had already built or invested in and that gave the chairman and the managing director room to do whatever he liked without anyone breathing down his neck. But now, Nolan was here, young, sharp and clearly ve
Chapter 299
“That can't be possible. There's no way Mr Lancaster would do this,” the managing director yelled angrily. “He promised us to be right by our side till the very end and no matter what happens, our partnership would remain forever. He can't just pull out now. This is unacceptable.”His voice was loud as he panicked but Elizabeth didn't care. Instead, her expression hardened and her grip on the phone tightened.“The next time you yell at me again, you lose your position and your job,” Elizabeth said sternly. “My team and I are already running the necessary background checks on you right now, and let me tell you, the things I’m seeing are things that, when they make the news headlines, nobody would ever think of buying any Natural Baby products again.”She heard the managing director take a deep breath, then another. She could almost picture him swallowing hard on the other side of the line.“I… I… I’m sorry, Miss Elizabeth,” he said finally, his voice much lower now. “But what can we do
Chapter 298
The managing director was clearly surprised that Elizabeth wanted to speak to him. The moment the call was connected and he heard her voice, his tone shifted. He had already assumed that there was a problem somewhere, maybe something serious, and that was the only reason she would be calling him directly. What surprised him even more was when she asked for the chairman instead. He told her immediately that he wasn’t obliged to give out the whereabouts of the chairman. He was being careful and choosing his words properly. Elizabeth also knew that already. She worked in the corporate world, so she understood how these things worked. She knew he wasn’t in the position to just hand out that kind of information, especially not about the chairman.Still, Elizabeth was starting to get frustrated. The way the managing director kept dodging her request was irritating her. She had never liked having any dealings with Natural Baby Company in the first place. Everything about them was always str
Chapter 297
As soon as Nolan texted Elizabeth, she didn't waste a second and sprang into action immediately. She tried to reach out to the secretary that worked directly for the chairman of Natural Baby. She dialed the number once, then again, but it was futile because the line wasn't going through. Elizabeth sighed, worried as she didn’t expect this outcome. She knew the secretary personally because they had crossed paths several times in the past when both of them had to attend meetings together. The woman was never happy and anyone who worked closely with the chairman knew that the job of being his secretary was nothing but a death trap. It wasn't just stressful, but was also mentally and emotionally draining. There was no peace in it at all.Elizabeth remembered having a conversation with the secretary one time. She had asked her why she would settle for such a job when it was obvious that it was destroying her. The secretary had only laughed bitterly and said she didn't have a choice and ne
Chapter 296
James opened his mouth to reply but no words came out. For the first time since the argument started, he couldn't immediately shut Nolan up because his words made sense, even if he hated to admit it. The only way he would ever believe any of the things Nolan was saying was if his father actually called him. Anything else would just sound like lies and excuses. Nolan was too calm, relaxed and unbothered. To James, he didn't look like someone who was desperately lying to save face. He didn't look like someone who was about to be exposed. He wasn't sweating, shaking or trying to backtrack on his words. He was just sitting there, composed, like he was waiting for something he was already sure would happen and that scared James.A small part of him was starting to feel uneasy. He needed that position in his father’s company and needed to be the managing director, no matter what. That role wasn't just about money or power, it was about proving himself. If Nolan was right and actually ende
Chapter 295
Nolan brought out his phone calmly and typed a message to Elizabeth. He told her that he didn’t want to speak to the managing director again and that this time, he wanted to speak directly to the chairman of the company, who happened to be James’s father. He didn’t even know how possible that would be because the man was known to be very busy and almost unreachable, but he still wanted to believe that Elizabeth would find a way to make it happen. He trusted her more than anyone when it came to things like this.A few seconds later, Elizabeth replied with a thumbs up emoji. That alone was enough to make Nolan smile slightly to himself. He knew he could trust her and that she wouldn’t fail him, especially not in a situation like this.“What’s so funny?” Cherry snapped immediately when she noticed the smile on his face. “And what exactly is making you smile like that? I’m asking you to call the chairman right now, not smile and waste time.”“That’s exactly what I’m doing,” Nolan replied
