Shoggoth Britney launched a tentacle attack at the two boys, but they were quick enough to dodge and counter attack. Koby spinning his hatchets and dodging attacks while hacking at tentacles, James dodging and dashing while slashing off tentacles
James was very effective in dealing with the tentacles but it was too much for him to handle by himself. Suddenly an idea popped in Kai’s mind “James head straight in, while Koby hacks off the tentacle attacks. I’ll try to pin her at a spot so you can finish her off.” Spitting out blood, Koby rushed in, hacking at attacks as laid out in the plan creating room for James to move in swiftly and head for the neck of the monster. The monster knew it was in a dangerous position and tried to move away but was shot at by Kai. Groaning in pain, it realized that it had been cornered and went beserk, attacking like a wild animal concentrating all it’s attacks on James. In that moment, Koby leaped up and using a spin hacked the monster’s neck. The neck was tough and didn’t budge. In that moment, as Koby despaired, Kai fired off a shot. “Honing Beam, fire.” The attack veered towards the monster who dodges it as expected but the attack redirected it’s route hitting the monster on the spot where Koby had slashed. This decapitated the monster. Koby slumped on the wall, groaning in pain. It appeared that in the scuffle a tentacle had pierced his right shoulder and it was bleeding profusely. “Everyone okay?” Kai asked before checking on Jugo’s body. It had gone cold. Looking at the monster, they discovered that the monster was some kind of parasite that takes host in bodies. “This is bad.” James said before glancing at Koby, who was tending to his injuries and trying to hide his pain and discomfort. “And whose fault is it?” Koby asked sarcastically . Raya knelt besides and spread her hands over his injured shoulders. A green light shimmered and the wound closed and the flesh was intact as though it had never been injured. “So you have healing abilities? It suits you.” Koby smiled at Raya. “How did you know there was something wrong with Britney?” Raya asked, a look of concern plastered on her face. “I didn’t .” Koby said covering his shoulders and moving on to check the barricaded door. The air was tense as everyone in the room sat down in a small circle facing the exits until they were all fast asleep. A bang outside the room woke the group up, it was morning already. Standing up, they couldn’t find Britney’s body anywhere. “It’s gone.” Those words sent shivers down everyone’s spine. They listened and could hear the others moving around. They had come out of their hiding spots and so they did the same No dead bodies was found on the hallways despite the numerous screams of death they had heard throughout the night. “Looks like there wasn’t much casualties.” Raya heaved a sigh of relief “Yeah, it’s very concerning.” Koby said looking around. “Concerning? We should be thankful.” Raya looked surprisingly at Koby’s words “With all the screams and crashes we heard last night, there should be bodies littered on the floor.” Koby explained. “I agree. There’s no way everyone survived that.” Kai agreed. As everyone came out of their hiding spots, one person caught Koby’s eyes. “Isn’t that Petra?” he asked Raya who was just as shocked to see Britney among the crowd. They weren’t the only one with similar issues. Everyone else saw who they thought death, now alive. “I’m guessing shoggoths have the ability to possess dead bodies, huh?” Rory echoed from the stairs. Everyone turned to look at him. “And how do you know that?” Koby smirked at him “They’re sensitive to my Sound Manipulation Technique.” Rory returned the smirk before proceeding to cast a spell. “Resonance” At the sound of that, a frequency was sent all over the room, making everyone scream in pain while holding their ears. The shoggoths in their midst started to twitch, disrupting their forms while Rory chuckled. “If you’re not a shoggoth, get down!!” Rory shouted before clasping his hands. “Crescendo.” With that a circular wave of sound energy sliced through the room causing damage to the disoriented shoggoths. The severed shoggoths started to regenerate but then a girl using fire magic burned away at the shoggoths effectively killing them. “Their weakness is fire.” She shouted. The fire magic usersgot to work by burning away at the shoggoths until there was nothing left. “Well, this is exciting.” Rory remarked smiling. The remaining survivors gathered together in the larges hall trying to catch their breaths and process what was happening. Koby moved up to the first girl that used fire magic on the shoggoths, she was attending to an injury she had gotten from barely missing Rory’s Crescendo “Are you alright?” he asked looking at her. She returned his glance and went back to sealing her wound with fire. “That was some quick thinking with the fire spell back there.” “I just used what I had to survive.” She said still tending to her wounds. She wasn’t very successful in tying up the injury. “Let me help.” Koby said taking the cloth from her and tying the wound. “Thank you.” She said “Can I ask you a question?” He asked as he tied her leg up. She nodded her approval. “What do you think about the shoggoths? We have a week and some days left.” “I say we’re all possibly going to die.” She said laying her back against the wall. “Your reason being?” “Shoggoths can assume the flesh of those they kill. This would definitely sow seeds of doubt in the future, because that sound user can’t be everywhere at once. We’re moving on a thin thread and a little pressure can snap it. Everyone’s already forming factions in hope of survival. It’s going to be a brutal week.” She said smiling. Koby was surprised at how much she had grasped the situation. Just then, a guy came up to the two of them. “We’re all gathered to know the next move, Zara.” The boy said. “Well , I have to go now. Thank you.” She said to Koby before moving away with the boy. “What are our chances of survival?” He asked out loud. “It’s the end of the world. So I can’t say for sure.” She said before entering another hallway.Latest Chapter
THE SERPENT
Jumping upwards, Koby drew his hatchets to strike but the serpent was too fast for it's size —twisting midair it dodged his blow and slammed him aside with it's massive body, flinging him from the trees and unto the ground with a brutal thud. “Koby!!” Kai shouted, eyes wide as he saw Koby crash violently to the ground. Looking down, he saw Koby coughing violently. He had survived the fall — it seemed like he had instinctively channeled his aura around his body thereby cushioning the impact— but he was dazed. But he had drawn more than just the serpent's attention. From the shadows, shrieking shoggoths swarmed him. Growling, Koby spun with his hatchets cutting down the first wave in a flurry of steel and rage. Panting, he looked up, gritting his teeth. “ Don't worry about me.” With those words, Kai didn't hesistate, readying his how and fired a shot at the serpent. As expected, it dodged— and used it's momentum to launch at Kai. He jumped out of the way just in time for James t
SMOKE IN THE FAR EAST
“Finally, they give us rewards for quests." Kai said. "If this is really like a game, aren't we supposed to get coins for the kills we made so far?” James reasoned. "Maybe we have been receiving..." Koby drawled on as he sat on a tree branch and activated his windows. At the bottom left corner he saw it, the coin balance. He had accumulated fifty thousand coins. He guessed that they were from the shoggoths they had killed so he turned to the others. "Check your windows for your coin balances." They opened their windows as suggested by Koby and confirmed their coin balances. They could also view their available skills and equipments in inventory. "You'd think that there would be an evaluation of strength, speed, and the rest." James observed. "I suppose it's going to be easy leveling up as we thought." Kai said. "Let's take note of the weapons we have." Koby said as everyone gathered together. "We all have weapons besides Raya." James confirmed. "It seems the system di
THE FOREST OF SHOGGOTHS
“Are you crazy?” Kai shouted at Koby.“You do remember that the shoggoths come from the forest?” James asked.“But they don’t attack until the designated time is up.” Koby replied.“Yup, it’s official. You’re crazy. I need to sit down.” Kai said taking a seat as he held his head.“Did you finally lose it?” James asked“ Look, if I stay here for the next wave of shoggoths, it may be my last.” Koby explained.“How so?” Kai asked.“I just killed six people, there will be others waiting for the right moment to kill me. They already see me as a monster.”“ Still you can’t …”“Can’t what? You want me to stay for the next wave? I assure you that I am surely going to get stabbed in the back or worse, something or someone could target one of you to get to me. Don’t you watch movies?” Koby tried to reason with Kai.“Are you seriously comparing movies to reality?” James asked amazed.“I like to think that besides the exaggeration, there are some truths to be found in movies.”“What?”James said s
ABANDONMENT
Everyone tried to gather their strength while staring daggers at Koby who was trying to recollect himself with Kai and James by his side. Some had uttered their opposition to letting Koby stay alive, but none was bold enough to talk to Koby directly, because they were still afraid of him. “Kai,did I hurt anyone in my rampage?” Koby finally asked having had enough of the cold treatment everyone was giving him. “Well, technically…” “Don’t lie, tell me the truth. I can handle it.” Koby assured. Before Kai could answer , Rory came into the conversation. “Six people died, not many injured.”- he said to Koby-“ luckily the representatives kept you from killing more at the cost of their own lives.” Koby let out a heavy sigh, clearly disturbed. He looked up to see everyone looking at him, fear and anger vivid in their eyes. “I’m shocked you didn’t kill me, considering the harm I had caused.” Koby said to Rory. “Believe me, I considered it. Even attempted it. You should be thanking Kai t
KILL OR BE KILLED
“That was so fast.” Luna said as she struggled to lift her sword. Everyone was now in awe of Koby. He wasn’t a mindless creature like the shoggoths that were easy to cut down. He was a fully functional human being that was now hunting them after they were already tired out. “Hit him with Resonance, Rory.” Zara shouted. With a clap of his palms, Rory created the sound wave that caused pain to those nearby but didn’t faze Koby. Resonance couldn’t penetrate the dark aura surrounding him. Rushing towards Rory with a ghost step, Koby tried to hack at him but is blocked again. “You’re not getting me that easily.” Rory said smirking. Koby let out a grin before using his second hatchet to strike again but it was narrowly avoided by Rory, as he tried to keep distance between them. Just as Koby was about to move, earthen rocks covered is body. It had been cast by Clifford. “Is someone going to kill him?” Clifford shouted. “Coming through.” Rory announced jumping in to slice Koby’s
THE MANSION 3
In a dark void, Koby floated around before regaining consciousness. “Am I dead?” He asked himself as he felf himself and the way around the void. “This is supposed to be my incarnate?” A loud voice boomed across the void. “Pathetic.” The voice said with disgust. Fear trickled down Koby’s spine as he looked around. “Who’s there?” He finally summoned up courage to ask. “Who do you think?” the voice chuckled. “If you’re going to kill me, make it quick. Don’t keep me in suspense.” Koby said. “The only good thing about you is your hate. You have an innate hatred for your own existence.” The voice continued as though, Koby had not said anything. “What do you know about me?” Koby said now annoyed at this being that was trying to read him. “In your entire lifetime, you have been beset with problems that has made you to hate existence itself. The last time I saw that type of hate was from myself.” Just then two ghostly eyes and a smile appeared in the void. “What are you?” Koby asked
