Chapter 1
THE END OF THE WORLD
Blinking his eyes open, Koby looked up at the white ceiling as he sighed.
Groaning from a slight headache he stood in the white room with many of his coursemates that had been awaiting lectures with him. Kai at his right, James at his left. They were okay and he was relieved to know that. Now they had to figure out what had happened and where they were. A few students were already panicking in the white room. “ what's going on here?” "Help, anybody?!" The slight mutterings soon turned to a full blown hysteria. Everyone began looking for an exit but there was known to be found. Suddenly, a bright light emanated just above the students and a human like figure with no face came in through the glimmer. It had a smile lining from cheek to cheek revealing a jagged set of teeth. The aura he emanated was terrifying. "Hello, bugs of the universe. You have all died." "Died?" Koby was surprised at that statement. Looking at his hands, he wondered if this was what death really felt like. Was it really time to be judged? "Some of you might be confused but I don't really care.- "What is happening important is that you all have been chosen among many others to show the Supreme Beings just how worthy you are of your souls." The creature paused allowing the audience to swallow in that bit of information. "Let the trials begin." It said with a cynical laughter that sent shivers down everyone's spines. "What do you mean by all this?" Norman, one of the students asked... Koby facepalmed his head mentally. The world just basically ended and this one was trying to be a representative. They were still hanging onto their personalities. The creature ignored Norman and continued speaking. "Trial One, survive five hours in the White Room." Survival. Koby was confused as to what was going on but he was sure of one thing, the creature was not messing around. Quickly, he scanned around to understand their situation. Everyone was just as confused, so there wasn't any lead there. The next best thing was to wait. After a minute, he noticed a change at the sides of the roomm it glowed red and then Koby instinctively yelled out. "Everyone, get down." In a flash, a red laser like line slashed across the room from the walls. Those within it's range were dismembered. Killing them instantly. Fear smiled down on everyone as they looked at the scattered torsos and split open bodies littered on the floor. The first scream was heard, as one of the girls looked at her friend's head that had been separated from her body... It was now a full blown panic, as everyone scampered to check for an exit. Then a window notification popped up on the air. Ninety eight students remaining Four hours and fifty eight minutes left Koby chuckled at how in under two minutes a total of thirty seven students had died. This was definitely not a joke. He felt a tug at his legs and looked at Kai. "Didn't get your head sliced off right?" "Should be asking you that very question." The smirk quickly faded as they glanced at James crawl towards them with a few others crawling to the centre of the room afraid to get up. "Everyone okay?" James asked with Koby and Kai raising a thumbs up to affirm their situation. Suddenly a rift appeared on the ceiling of the white room, releasing a bunch of shields and swords onto the ground. Cautiously approaching them, Koby picked up a shield and tossed it at James, then tossed another one towards Kai. "Pick up shield and swords and let's try to form a circle, if y'all want to survive." Koby said to those closest to him. A few started doing as was told and formed a small circle while looking at others who were in shock. "I don't like this." Kai muttered. "Neither do I." Rifts began to appear at the sides of the walls as humanoid creatures poured out in large numbers from it. "Join your shields together and brace yourself. Maintain the circle at all times, and slash with your swords when within range." Kai shouted out upon seeing the horses. Glancing at Koby, he asked.. How sure are you that this strategy would actually work?" "It worked in the Vikings series, so it should work.." Koby grinned uncomfortably... "We're Soo going to die." The guys forming the circle did as was told and closed their shields together in an effort to close the gaps made. A small group held their swords in preparation to strike but we're very nervous while a few were just whimpering inside the circle. This infuriated Koby because they could die with the way things were. The first wave hit them. The creatures could be taken down in one hit, so the only issue was their numbers. It was weighing on the shield bearers and if they breach the circle, it's game over. In frustration, Koby yelled out. "If you're not gonna pick up a sword or a shield and fight for your lives, you're as good as dead weight and any dead weights will be killed by me. " One of the guys screamed back at him. "Who do you think you are to tell us what to do?" It was Gregory. In that instant, Koby swung his sword giving a deep gash to Gregory's neck which killed him instantly. "I just want to survive like everyone else. One dead weight down, anyone else?" With the head right in the centre of the circle everyone panicked. They started picking up swords to help the shield wielders by cutting down the creatures within range The wave of creatures poured out until the end of the five hours time limit. At that point, they all vanished. Everyone gave a heave of relief and slumped on the ground to catch their breath "You killed Gregory!!" Clifford, one of the boys pointed at the headless body of Gregory while glaring at Koby. There was no response from Koby and this infuriated Clifford more, causing him to grab Koby by the collars "Was it necessary to kill him?!" "Yes, it was. He was asking useless questions and making everyone lose morale." Koby answered while staring non-chalantly into Clifford's angry eyes. "And so you just killed him? Was it fun?" Clifford screamed as he raised his fist to punch Koby. Reacting, Koby raised his sword in order to defend himself but they were separated at the nick of time by James and Rory. "No way are you guys dividing our numbers. Koby did what he had to do. Deal with it, Clifford." Rory exclaimed looking at Clifford while James held onto Koby. Kai looked on from where he sat using his sword as support, eyes alert. " What's done is done. We should be thinking about escaping from here." He finally said. On cue, the smiling creature appeared from a rift and gazed at the shaken crowd. "Fifty five individuals left. It seems this set has potential." "What do you want from us?" Kai asked the creature. "I could never bring myself to explain everything to insects like you." The creature said smiling at Kai. "How do we get out of here?" Rory asked. "This one asks the right questions. You will all undergo a form of screening in order to prepare you for what's to come." "Would you mind cluing us in?" Rory questioned "That would ruin the surprise, wouldn't it now?" The faceless creature widened it's smile. Before anyone could say anything, everyone disappeared.Expand

Nyxoria THE SERPENT
Jumping upwards, Koby drew his hatchets to strike but the serpent was too fast for it's size —twisting midair it dodged his blow and slammed him aside with it's massive body, flinging him from the trees and unto the ground with a brutal thud. “Koby!!” Kai shouted, eyes wide as he saw Koby crash violently to the ground. Looking down, he saw Koby coughing violently. He had survived the fall — it seemed like he had instinctively channeled his aura around his body thereby cushioning the impact— but he was dazed. But he had drawn more than just the serpent's attention. From the shadows, shrieking shoggoths swarmed him. Growling, Koby spun with his hatchets cutting down the first wave in a flurry of steel and rage. Panting, he looked up, gritting his teeth. “ Don't worry about me.” With those words, Kai didn't hesistate, readying his how and fired a shot at the serpent. As expected, it dodged— and used it's momentum to launch at Kai. He jumped out of the way just in time for James t

Nyxoria SMOKE IN THE FAR EAST
“Finally, they give us rewards for quests." Kai said. "If this is really like a game, aren't we supposed to get coins for the kills we made so far?” James reasoned. "Maybe we have been receiving..." Koby drawled on as he sat on a tree branch and activated his windows. At the bottom left corner he saw it, the coin balance. He had accumulated fifty thousand coins. He guessed that they were from the shoggoths they had killed so he turned to the others. "Check your windows for your coin balances." They opened their windows as suggested by Koby and confirmed their coin balances. They could also view their available skills and equipments in inventory. "You'd think that there would be an evaluation of strength, speed, and the rest." James observed. "I suppose it's going to be easy leveling up as we thought." Kai said. "Let's take note of the weapons we have." Koby said as everyone gathered together. "We all have weapons besides Raya." James confirmed. "It seems the system di

Nyxoria THE FOREST OF SHOGGOTHS
“Are you crazy?” Kai shouted at Koby.“You do remember that the shoggoths come from the forest?” James asked.“But they don’t attack until the designated time is up.” Koby replied.“Yup, it’s official. You’re crazy. I need to sit down.” Kai said taking a seat as he held his head.“Did you finally lose it?” James asked“ Look, if I stay here for the next wave of shoggoths, it may be my last.” Koby explained.“How so?” Kai asked.“I just killed six people, there will be others waiting for the right moment to kill me. They already see me as a monster.”“ Still you can’t …”“Can’t what? You want me to stay for the next wave? I assure you that I am surely going to get stabbed in the back or worse, something or someone could target one of you to get to me. Don’t you watch movies?” Koby tried to reason with Kai.“Are you seriously comparing movies to reality?” James asked amazed.“I like to think that besides the exaggeration, there are some truths to be found in movies.”“What?”James said s

Nyxoria ABANDONMENT
Everyone tried to gather their strength while staring daggers at Koby who was trying to recollect himself with Kai and James by his side. Some had uttered their opposition to letting Koby stay alive, but none was bold enough to talk to Koby directly, because they were still afraid of him. “Kai,did I hurt anyone in my rampage?” Koby finally asked having had enough of the cold treatment everyone was giving him. “Well, technically…” “Don’t lie, tell me the truth. I can handle it.” Koby assured. Before Kai could answer , Rory came into the conversation. “Six people died, not many injured.”- he said to Koby-“ luckily the representatives kept you from killing more at the cost of their own lives.” Koby let out a heavy sigh, clearly disturbed. He looked up to see everyone looking at him, fear and anger vivid in their eyes. “I’m shocked you didn’t kill me, considering the harm I had caused.” Koby said to Rory. “Believe me, I considered it. Even attempted it. You should be thanking Kai t

Nyxoria KILL OR BE KILLED
“That was so fast.” Luna said as she struggled to lift her sword. Everyone was now in awe of Koby. He wasn’t a mindless creature like the shoggoths that were easy to cut down. He was a fully functional human being that was now hunting them after they were already tired out. “Hit him with Resonance, Rory.” Zara shouted. With a clap of his palms, Rory created the sound wave that caused pain to those nearby but didn’t faze Koby. Resonance couldn’t penetrate the dark aura surrounding him. Rushing towards Rory with a ghost step, Koby tried to hack at him but is blocked again. “You’re not getting me that easily.” Rory said smirking. Koby let out a grin before using his second hatchet to strike again but it was narrowly avoided by Rory, as he tried to keep distance between them. Just as Koby was about to move, earthen rocks covered is body. It had been cast by Clifford. “Is someone going to kill him?” Clifford shouted. “Coming through.” Rory announced jumping in to slice Koby’s

Nyxoria THE MANSION 3
In a dark void, Koby floated around before regaining consciousness. “Am I dead?” He asked himself as he felf himself and the way around the void. “This is supposed to be my incarnate?” A loud voice boomed across the void. “Pathetic.” The voice said with disgust. Fear trickled down Koby’s spine as he looked around. “Who’s there?” He finally summoned up courage to ask. “Who do you think?” the voice chuckled. “If you’re going to kill me, make it quick. Don’t keep me in suspense.” Koby said. “The only good thing about you is your hate. You have an innate hatred for your own existence.” The voice continued as though, Koby had not said anything. “What do you know about me?” Koby said now annoyed at this being that was trying to read him. “In your entire lifetime, you have been beset with problems that has made you to hate existence itself. The last time I saw that type of hate was from myself.” Just then two ghostly eyes and a smile appeared in the void. “What are you?” Koby asked
