Aria already knew what Aisha’s response would be, yet she pretended to be oblivious, waiting to hear her words. Maybe she was right, maybe she was wrong. But Aisha didn’t speak. She remained silent, giving no indication of reacting to Aria’s words.

Noticing the silence, Aria decided to break it herself.

“And why aren’t you saying anything? Or are you still going to deny me access to the signature again?” she asked, her voice laced with both curiosity and challenge.

Aisha’s eyes locked tightly on Aria as she finally spoke.

“You haven’t even heard my answer, yet you’re already judging. Is that how you reach your conclusions?”

Aria, unwilling to create further friction or prolong the matter, took a deep breath and controlled the anger already simmering within her. Calmly, she replied:

“You’ve chosen not to respond, yet you accuse me of judging. Fine, I am judging. But to know whether my judgment is right or wrong, I need clarity from you. Tell me—are you going to get me the signature of

Diego stepped closer, jaw tightening. “Tony… tell me you’re joking. Tell me you didn’t mean what you just said. Because there is no universe where Mr. Chen chooses Tyler over me.”Tony didn’t flinch. “It’s the truth, Diego.”Diego let out a sharp laugh, the kind that carried more anger than humor. “Of all people… Tyler? That useless boy?” He pointed straight at Tyler. “Look at him. Just standing there like he didn’t wreck things for us already.”Tony’s voice stayed calm. “Your hatred for him is clouding your sense.”“Hate?” Diego scoffed, leaning forward. “Hate is too small. I cannot stand the sight of him. From the first day he walked into ABC, I knew he was trouble. The type that drags others into his messy life.”Tyler shifted slightly, but Diego’s eyes snapped to him immediately.“Don’t move,” Diego barked. “You think I’m scared of you? One more step, just one, and I’ll—”Tony stepped in between them. “Diego. Stop it.”Diego’s nostrils flared. “Why are you defending him? For what?

  • 131. How?!

That troubling thought was still settling in Tyler’s mind when another voice cut through the air.“Have him brought down. He is a suspected criminal…”The tone hit him like a slap. It was too familiar. Even though he had been trying to maintain his composure, his body betrayed him. He slowly turned to the left.Diego stood there.Tyler’s heartbeat kicked up immediately, pounding against his chest. What is Diego doing here? Could it be that he was the one who set me up? Was he the person that made that phone call? The questions rushed through his head so fast they almost drowned the moment.“Come on, I said take him down!” Diego barked. “He is a criminal and he is here to cause nuisance!”The men pointing guns at Tyler tightened their grips, clearly waiting for the slightest order to drag him to the ground. Tyler held his breath, bracing himself—until another voice sliced in sharply.“No, that’s NOT necessary, Lieutenant Carson!”This voice, too, was familiar.Relief washed over Tyler

  • 130. A Set Up?

These past few days hadn’t been easy on anyone — not even on Tyler. The pressure on him tightened by the minute, and the weight he carried was beginning to show. What troubled him the most was the question of who would handle the urgent things he needed done. The only person he trusted with that responsibility was lying unconscious, fighting for his life.He needed someone else. A replacement. But how could anyone replace Lu Chen?Lu Chen wasn’t just another assistant or partner — he was the only person Tyler trusted completely and comfortably. No one else had ever stepped into that role, and no one had ever matched the precision, loyalty, and calm efficiency Lu Chen brought.Aisha might have been the perfect fit, but she was already handling critical matters at ABC. Pulling her out wasn’t even an option. So the question hit Tyler again and again, slamming against his mind:Who would take Lu Chen’s place? That thought alone made Tyler tense, almost choking on his own breath as his pho

  • 129. The Plan B

Immediately Aria stepped out of the office, she headed straight to her car, her heels clicking sharply against the floor. She didn’t waste a second. If she couldn’t get the signature she needed, then she would carry on with Plan B — the plan that came to her the moment Aisha rejected her proposal.Settling into her car seat, she took a quiet breath and dialed a number. The line connected almost instantly.“Hello!” she said.“Hello, Miss Acosta…” the voice from the other end replied.“I need your security assistance during my party,” she said firmly, jumping straight into business. The man on the phone — Marvin — was one of the best agents in the security structure. His company was known for screening guests at high-profile events, identifying those who were invited and filtering out anyone who wasn’t. That was exactly why Aria had called him. From the other end, Marvin asked politely, “What help do you need, ma’am?”“Yes!” Aria responded without hesitation. “I need your service at my

  • 128. What's Plan B?

Aria, not caring what her next words might cause or where her boldness would lead, wasted no time before firing back at Aisha.“You heard what I said, am I right? But if you want to act dumb like you didn’t hear or understand me, I’ll repeat the question again!” Her eyes sharpened as she leaned forward. “Who is the unknown CEO of ABC Companies? And if you’re saying you can’t tell me who the unknown CEO is… then I’m giving you an order, as the representative CEO of this company— get me the signature I requested for.”Hearing not just Aria’s words but the confidence packed into her tone, Aisha let out a small scoff.“What if I don’t get it?” she shot back. “What if I don’t tell you who the CEO of ABC Company is, and what if I don’t bring his signature? What are you going to do? Fire me from my position? Or what?!”Aria said nothing.Silence stepped in between the two women and grew heavier by the second. Just looking at Aria, anyone could see the anger simmering beneath her calm face. A

  • 127. Clash Of Power

“Just think about it this way, Miss Acosta,” she continued, her gaze steady on Aria. “The CEO has made it clear that he doesn’t want anyone to know who he is. So why would you assume he would allow the same person—or the same group of people he wants kept in the dark—to have access to his signature? It is not for me to decide; the authority lies entirely with the CEO. Please understand that I simply cannot do this.”Aria rolled her eyes in exasperation, running her fingers through her hair as frustration bubbled over. “It’s always the same excuse, over and over again. Why can’t you come up with something else to cover up your lies… and the lies of that CEO? And that reminds me—he made me CEO… well, representative CEO. You should put yourself in my shoes for a moment. If someone made you the representative CEO of a company, how would it feel to hold that power yet be unable to exercise it? For him to appoint me means he trusts me—but he doesn’t even trust me with his identity. So tell
