REBORN AS A HYBRID

THE DANGERS OF HUNTING

In the group of four, John could tell from their scents that Nick was a vampire, Alexa was a werewolf and finally Ricko and Charlotte were both humans.

Even though Nick was a vampire, he could move freely under the sun without getting burnt because he had his protective ring on. It was still another product of the Drexeler company.

From their choice of weapon, John was wondering what the abilities of the humans were.

Ricko carried around two metal canes While Charlotte carried a bow without arrows.

Alexa was a sword user like John, but she had just an intermediate tier sword.

Finally, Nick wore a spiked gauntlet which matched the color of his armor.

His choice of weapon was not surprising because vampires preferred hand to hand combat.

John all his life had convinced himself that he is a human like his parents, but he also had a little confusion in his mind.

He wondered why his senses were so hyper despite being a human. His ears were so sharp and his nose could differentiate the scent of different races, something only vampires, wolves and special humans could do.

He brushed it off to the fact that he was one of those special humans.

It was sunset and the group boarded a taxi heading to the remote area on the map.

The taxi dropped them and they continued on foot towards their destination because of its remoteness.

The group finally arrived at the location and the neighborhood was so quiet.

All the residents had retired into their homes in fear of the beasts.

A family was having supper when they heard a commotion outside, so they went to take a look through their window. They saw a group of five hunters fighting outside with a pack of basic tier shadow dogs.

" Look, it is the bounty hunters who are coming."

" I hope they succeed."

John, like he was told before, was holding the luggage. He watched as the others showed their skills to fight against the pack of shadow dogs, which was a total of seven.

Nick was the highest fighter amongst them. With his advanced tier gauntlet, it was easy to fight off the dogs.

Charlotte turned out to be an air ability user. She pulled the string of her bow without an arrow, but an invisible arrow made of compressed air left the bow and pierced the dogs like any normal arrow, only that it was more effective.

Rick used the metal cains to control his lightning ability, directing it towards his targets.

Alexa was a very skillful sword fighter and John watched her closely with the aim of learning new skills. She had transformed only her hands into the wolf form in order to add force on her attacks.

The group had managed to kill five of the Shadow dogs and the remaining two started retreating.

They started running towards the forest while howling.

" That is called fake howling." Alexa said as she was mad that the Shadow dogs had to steal the howling of wolves, but they weren't doing a good job as theirs sounded awful.

" Don't let them escape. If they do, they will attract an advance tier pack towards this place, to seek revenge." Nick said and the group went after the two dogs.

The dogs kept howling as they escaped as fast as they could, deep into the forest. The group went after them including John.

Even though he carried a bag of supplies, he could keep up with them in terms of speed which surprised everyone.

Despite the fact that John was a hybrid, he never had the scent of a hybrid because he also had the blood of humans in him. So any vampire or wolf would get his odd scent and think he was a human.

But even John himself did not know that he was a breed of vampires, wolves and humans, giving him his unique scent.

The two shadow dogs, after running for a while, came to a halt at a particular place.

Then they turned around and faced the group of hunters.

" Be careful, their nest could be anywhere around here. let's get this over with and leave this place as quickly as possible." Nick ordered and everyone charged in with their attacks.

John was still standing there as a watchman when suddenly he heard a low growling sound behind him. When he turned around, he saw a huge shadow dog with shadow mists moving all over its body.

It's appearance was very different from the ones they had been fighting before. This one was taller than John and the shadows on its body were visible, making it very dark and hard to spot.

Unlike the basic tier beast that looked like normal german shepherds, but were dark in color. Their shadow had not yet formed at that stage making them less dangerous.

" John, ruuun!" Before John could run, the advance tier shadow dog pounced on him. It was too late.

The rest of the group knew that it was too late and there was no way to save John, and so the best thing they could do at that moment was to run for their lives out of that forest, as fast as they could.

John struggled on the ground with the wolf on his body, attacking wildly. Since John was not fighting with the group before, his sword was still in its scabbard. John struggled to take out his sword but he was overpowered by the beast.

John suffered fatal blows from the beast and his health was quickly fading away.

John's vision started growing blurry, and suddenly he heard a voice in his head. It said

'let me take over from here.'

When John heard this voice, a certain energy rushed through his veins, then his eyes glowed white . At this point, the shadow dog instinctively leaped behind.

It was more intelligent than the basic tier beasts and its instincts were telling it to run away, but its beast nature made it dive in for another attack.

"Aaaaaaaaaaagh," John shouted as the energy in him was taking over him. This made his eyes glow brighter and his muscles bulged.

The rest of the group was still running when they heard John's screams and knew it was finished. But they continued running to go find help, with the hope that when it comes, John would still be alive.
