For a whole day, Kalix was left there without food or drink, but in the evening, someone finally arrived. The man was Mason Dominic.

A more luxurious chair was placed not far in front of Kalix, and Mason sat down calmly. He gazed at the son he left in a small village. They had met again ten years ago when Kalix came to study at the country's best university in this city.

"How are you?" Mason asked without any emotion. He even stared at Kalix flatly, as if he wasn't looking at his own son.

Kalix offered a crooked smile and replied hoarsely, "How do you think?"

Hearing that, Mason burst into laughter. He looked at Kalix with both admiration and disdain simultaneously.

"Do you know why I brought you here?"

Kalix didn't answer, his head lowered, but he didn't show despair.

Mason wasn't bothered by Kalix's attitude. "I want to end it all for you. Everything."

"Don't you want to ask why?" Mason used his cane to lift Kalix's chin. He forced the young man to look into his eyes.

After a few moments of silence, Kalix finally spoke, "Why?"

"Because you're just like me. If I let you live, you'll find a way to destroy me."

Mason withdrew his cane. He snorted. "Anyway, we're on opposite sides now. I can't let a problem like two days ago happen again."

Mason got up and walked away with the help of his cane, and Kalix watched as he gradually distanced himself. Then a group of muscular-armed and stern-faced people approached.

Kalix knew the end of his life was near. He didn't want to negotiate for his life, but he wanted the destruction of Mason Dominic and the people who were conspiring against him. Kalix wanted them all to get their karma.

Pain spread throughout his body, his head was pounding, and blood flowed in large amounts. He slowly closed his eyes, but suddenly, a super bright light appeared, and a mechanical voice buzzed in his mind.

[Host detected!]

After that, a light screen appeared in Kalix's mind, as if right in front of his eyes.

[Binding system... 10%... 50%... 80%... 100%....]

[Binding complete.]

The mechanical voice buzzed in his mind again.

"Welcome, Host Kalix Owen! This system is a one-to-one single binding system and cannot be transferred."

"The system offers you a chance to return to the transitional phase of your life and guide you to achieve your greatest desire in your previous life, which is revenge."

Kalix was still confused, he didn't understand what the system was, what returning to the transitional phase meant, or what achieving his greatest desire was. It was only when someone threw a towel at him that Kalix opened his eyes in a daze.

"Get up quickly, or do you want that crazy senior to cause trouble in our room again?" It was a shout from a young man.

Kalix took the towel covering his face, looked in the direction of the young man, and was surprised. It was Jimmy, his roommate from college.

"What are you looking at, huh?" The guy yelled angrily when he saw Kalix's astonished expression.

Kalix threw the towel back to the floor and got up. "No need to shout, I'm not deaf."

"Oh, hey! Do you dare to defy me now? You're just a poor village student, how dare you talk back to me!"

Kalix ignored them and walked into the bathroom with his towel and clothes. In the bathroom, Kalix tried to process his situation. He thought about what he had heard and seen in his mind.

In his confusion, the mechanical voice buzzed again.

"You've been reborn to the beginning of your college years."

"Ah? Y-you..." Kalix was surprised and almost screamed. "Are you the one in my head?"

"Uh-huh! It's me, the system. I will guide you to fulfill your desire from your previous life. Don't you want to get revenge on those who made your life difficult?"

Kalix fell silent, he did want that before he died. He desperately wanted to see his father's downfall and the people who conspired against him.

But, was this opportunity real? Did he really have that chance? Was he... going back seven years?

"Is this just someone's dying hallucination?" he asked in his mind to the system.

"No. This is real, and you are one of the luckiest people to get this chance."

Again, Kalix fell silent, contemplating it for a moment. Until the bathroom door was being banged on, and he snapped out of his reverie. Kalix frowned in annoyance. He huffed before recalling what happened in his university days.

Kalix was just a poor student from a remote village in another city, and he had no supporters, making him a target for bullying. His greatest advantage was his intelligence and a strong ambition for success. That's why, in his previous life, Mason had tried hard to clip his wings.

Ignoring the commotion, Kalix casually cleaned himself and communicated with the system again.

"So, how does it work?" he asked.

"It's simple. I will guide you to complete missions. Every time you successfully complete a mission, you'll earn points."

These points can be exchanged for various things like money, items, or ability lotteries. Abilities refer to skills like cooking like a professional chef, painting like a professional artist, and so on.

After hearing all this, Kalix had some doubts. "What about the payment? Nothing is free in this world, right?"

"Of course," the system replied. "The payment is your success in getting revenge or reaching the pinnacle of life."

"Is that it? Isn't that an advantage for me?"

"Yes, that's it. As long as you are successful in achieving your desire, then my mission is considered a success, and I have a chance to move on to a new host or get promoted."

Kalix nodded in understanding. "What if I fail?"

"I will be downgraded and lose the attractive features that can help the host, or worst-case scenario, I will be destroyed."

After a brief pause, the system added, "It's safe to say we are very bound now."

Kalix had no more questions, he stepped out of the bathroom when he was done. Seeing two people leaning against the bathroom door, he calmly passed by them. One was Jimmy, and the other was Grey.

"Yo, poor student, are you getting braver now!" Jimmy said cynically, he had never liked Kalix from the beginning, especially after the most respected senior came to disrupt their dorm room just because Kalix defied him.

"Remember, you're just Senior Lorenz's lackey, don't get too cocky!" This time Grey spoke up.

Kalix gave them a lazy look. "I know. I'm Senior Lorenz's lackey, so what do you want with me?"

"You've become quite defiant!" Jimmy was very angry, as usually, Kalix would just stay silent.

Grey restrained Jimmy, who was on the verge of losing control. He shifted his attention to Kalix and said, "Senior Lorenz wants you to come to the back building now!"

"Lucas! Be careful!" The shout came from Eugene. Watching her son continue to run around in the middle of the grass field in front of their house sometimes made Eugene feel like she was on the verge of a sudden heart attack. How could she not? Her five-year-old son was very active and almost never wanted to sit still for more than a minute. Eugene could only laugh as she watched Lucas proudly show off his catch, a small insect-shaped ball with black and reddish-orange patterns. "Are you happy to get it?" his mother asked, answered by her son's enthusiastic nod. A blade of grass fell from Lucas's head. Five years had passed, and Eugene had proven herself capable of fulfilling her duties as a mother. Lucas was active and intelligent, inheriting his good looks from Kalix, but his personality, no one knew where he got it from. "Lucas," called Kalix, who had just come out of the house. He was carrying a cup of tea to give to his beloved wife. "Can't you go a day without making yo

Then, news came from the doctor who checked Eugene's condition, and yes, the pregnancy news made everyone who heard it feel happy. Eugene felt incredulous at first, but then she felt happy. Meanwhile, Kalix was still trying to digest his wife's words. His breathing gradually calmed, but his eyes couldn't lie. "Oh, what did you say earlier?" Eugene glanced at Kalix to reassure him and laughed before answering, "I'm pregnant, Kalix. Pregnant with your child." After seeing her husband's expression, she chuckled softly—feeling amused by what she was seeing now. "You didn't expect that, did you?" At that moment, Kalix felt the heat of his anxiety dissipating, replaced by a happiness that was eve

"Eugene, are you alright?" Kalix's worried expression couldn't be hidden when he saw his wife looking pale. Eugene smiled gently. Actually, her stomach was quite upset in the morning, perhaps due to indigestion or eating something wrong. She emerged from the bathroom after vomiting her breakfast this morning. "I think I'm fine," Eugene said casually. "Shouldn't we go to the doctor just in case? I'll take you right now," Kalix suggested. Seeing how caring her husband was, her heart felt warm, but she had to refuse, "I'm okay. Besides, I already have plans with my friends today." Kalix sighed deeply, his gaze shifting to his wife's stomach. "I don't mean to stop you, but how can you go out on an empty stomach? You just vomited all your food." Actually, Eugene didn't feel very hungry, but considering the effort the man had put into preparing breakfast this morning, she felt guilty. "I'll try to eat again." It seemed Kalix didn't quite agree with Eugene's words. However, he also fel
