4. Cocky Leader

As they entered the cave, chilling atmosphere and damp air greeted them. Before long, the darkness had fully enveloped them.

“Ralph, light up your torches and distribute it to the members!” decreed Leon, pausing a bit since he could see no more what was in front of him.

“Roger, leader!” answered Ralph obediently while unpacking the sticks out of his inventory. He soaked the end of the stick covered in clothes inside oil, and then attempted to light it with the flint stones from his pockets.

Ralph tried his best to ignite the spark, but to no avail. Realizing his lackey had no luck, Leon decided to step in.

“Give me that!” commanded Leon while snatching the sticks from Ralph’s hand rudely. With a single flick, the sticks were lit one by one, burning passionately to illuminate their way around the cave.

“As expected of our leader!” praised Lucielle while receiving the torches handed over to her by Leon. “Here, Lotty! Pass it to Ralph and that noob over there!”

Lucielle’s seemingly sweet attitude to Leon turned 180 degree when she spoke to Lotty, the young girl dressed in skimpy outfits made of leather. The timid looking girl nervously received the torches, but perhaps due to the pressure, she dropped down all of them, leaving only one torch burning held by Leon.

“You imbecile! Look what you’ve done!” scolded Lucielle to Lotty, who was about to burst in tear. But Ralph came to her rescue to defend her.

“Pipe it down, Lucielle. It’s not that big of a deal,” argued Ralph while taking advantage of the situation by embracing Lotty tightly.

“Hmph, you always pamper that frail chick, Ralph! It won’t do her any good if she keeps this on!” Lucielle’s sentiment changed target.

“It’s just as this brawny dude said, though I can’t justify his opportunistic action,” commented Clyde who finally managed to catch up with the team. Realizing his hidden motive had been found out, Ralph loosened up his grip towards Lotty, releasing her free.

“And what do you mean by that? You want to feel up this skinny lass, too?” accused Lucielle, flaunting her bountiful boobies, as if wanted to show her figure superiority against Lotty.

“Nah, I mean, we won’t be needing torches anymore,” concluded Clyde. “Haven’t you realized? The further we walk into the cave, the brighter the surrounding area is?”

Clyde’s statement made everyone look around the cavern’s insides. Indeed, while they kept on walking, they hadn’t noticed that it was starting to get brighter, to the point that the torch was no longer necessary.

“Nice assessment for a noob, I’ll give you that,” complimented Leon halfheartedly. “But don’t get it over your head, your beginner’s luck will soon run out before you know it.”

“Talking about luck in front of me, that’s rich,” retorted Clyde gleefully with a smirk that concealed a thousand meanings. Taking that as an offense, Leon stopped his steps and faced back, as if inviting Clyde for a fight.

“Listen newbie, I don’t like your tone ever since you showed your sorry ass before us!” expressed Ralph in between Leon and Clyde, who were about to face each other head on. “You don’t talk to our leader like that!”

The three of them had prepared for a triple threat before a flash of light blinded all of them, followed by the appearing menu panel that everyone can see.

[ DUNGEON: MEDIEVAL ]

[OBJECTIVE: ELIMINATE FENRIR PACK LEADER]

“Alright, extermination type of objective. That’s simple enough for a newbie, I reckon,” remarked Leon. “Make yourself useful, Clyde! And don’t fall behind!”

Hearing that, everyone except Clyde took their battle stance, ready for anything that should come their way. Clyde, who got upset for being treated harshly, yawned his temper away.

They kept on their pace, observing the situation around them while preparing for an ambush. They treaded their path carefully, until finally bone chilling howls were heard, freezing them on their place.

“Crap! We got careless!” cursed Leon when he realized that he couldn’t budge an inch from his position. “Those howls we heard have paralyzing effect, it seems!”

And when they thought the situation couldn’t be any much worse, the howls had changed to stampedes of countless wolves. They were completely surrounded. Cold sweats started to creep down Ralph’s forehead.

“Leader, what should we do now?” asked Ralph nervously. “At this point, it would be us who would get wiped out!”

“Stay calm! While our feet are glued on the place, we still have free control over our upper body!” calculated Leon equally panic. “While I know it’s hard, try your best to evade and fight back if possible!”

The canines started to attack ferociously. Leon found himself struggling a bit, but he still managed to stand his ground. He didn’t become the leader of Feisty Five for nothing.

“You’re so cool, Leon! The Knight class really suits you!” admired Lucielle.

“I know, but keep your focus! As a Mage, you can’t let your opponents get too close, so better keep them at bay with your ray magic!” instructed Leon. “Berserker, how are you doing over there?”

“Still kicking, Commander!” responded Ralph, showcasing his brute strength while mowing down the poor Fenrirs with his axe.

That glorious moment sadly was not the same for Lottie, the young girl who opted for Thief class. As her specialty was her mobility and surprise attack, she became the sitting duck for the wolves to snack on.

Realizing that, Clyde opened up his menu panel to activated his skill.

Thanks to Clyde’s lucky spin, everyone could move freely again. By that time, the amount of Fenrirs had decreased dramatically, leaving only a few of them.

“Yeah, yeah, you are welcome, fellas! Despite the rude treatment you’ve been giving me, I freed all of you from your paralysis!” announced Clyde cockily while walking to the front of the formation, feeling safe since there were not a lot of threats anymore.

WOOOOOO!!!

With that haunting howl, a Fenrir almost thrice the size of the wolves they took down before had appeared in front of them, demanding vengeance for the fallen of his minions. Its dark eyes glared sharply at the Feisty Five, ready to pounce on them anytime.

“Now what, big guy?” Leon sneered at Clyde who acted like he was such a hot shot before.
