By the time Kevin arrived at the governors ward, he was already done and preparing to go with his daughter.

Camilla came to meet him. “What took you so long?”

“Yeahhh!” Gov. Aldric loomed with his deep voice. “She told me you were coming with her.”

“I'm so sorry, the person I met, my brother kept me for long.”

“He's here?” Aldric asked. “I'd love to meet…..”

“No dad,” Camilla cut in. “He's a bad guy. Hates my man so much.”

Both Aldric and Kevin narrowed their eyes in shock at the address. Camilla blushed, going over to Kevin's side. “Woww!” Aldric muttered, glaring down. “It seems my dream is coming true, my daughter who has never looked at a man twice is falling in love.”

“Let me leave the two of you together. Come back together.” He said and rushed out, wanting Camilla to spend as much time with Kevin.

Kevin stared. Stunned. Speechless.

The moment her dad left, Camilla leaned towards him, whispering, “My dad has always wanted me to marry so I can take over his personal properties, then he focuses on the government. So far I've been the one manning his conglomerate, inherited from his dad.”

“Wooh!” Kevin exclaimed, amazed. He was about to say, “We share the same fate” when he recalled his plan.

Don't reveal your identity too soon!

“Let's pick a taxi by the gate of the hospital, no need to stress the drivers at home.”

“Hmm,” Kevin sighed. “When you called me, I thought it was just to thank me and now you're going back with me. What do you really want from me?” He asked matter-of-factly, wanting Camilla to state her mind so he knew his stance.

She stopped, turning around and glaring at him, eyeball-to-eyeball. “I want you!” Her voice came off sound and deep. “Right from that very first moment I saw your first after you rescued me, I knew you were the one. You did save me with passion.” She gulped some saliva, looking away for a while.

“You did it with love, not like someone forced to help.”

Kevin's heart melted but he tried not to show his emotions.

“Hmm, woww.” He said.

Camilla grabbed his wrist even tighter. “I want you to fall in love with me. I want you to marry me. I want you to be the one fucking me everyday. I'm a 21 year old virgin and I need a man.”

“Sorry you're too young for me. I'm twenty-eight.”

Camilla's eyes grew pale as Kevin mentioned this but his aim was to test her reaction, if she really wanted him. Seeing her want to cry, he flinched his face, hiding the flush on his face.

“Age is just a number. I'll be that submissive wife regardless of my status. I'm beautiful. I'm mature. I'm everything you should need in a woman.” She was already stressing up.

Kevin decided to take pity on her. “I can't stress this beautiful woman.” He said to himself and shrugged his shoulders in compromise.

“I've got to think about that. Court me well. Your success depends on how well you do that.” He teased her. “Just a hint!”

Camilla blushed so wide, jumping off and hugging him. Those at the hospital who saw gawked, speechless. Immediately, they took out their phone and began to video. It was an unbelievable sight. Before they knew, the videos were already trending online, then the comments began to come.

“Isn't that the governor's daughter who doesn't look at men twice?”

“Who's that lucky man?”

“But he looks poor. How could she fall in love with such a man?”

“Who knows, he could be his new bodyguard?” Ivy who came upon the post commented, promoting it to many people. Her comment alone got two hundred and eighty thousand likes.

Camilla and Kevin, who hadn't checked their phone since they came out of the hospital, walked to the roadside. A cab came by, they stopped and got inside.

“You know where I live,” Camilla asked. Who doesn't?

The driver nodded. “Yes, ma'am.”

But Kevin stared at the driver. Something felt off about him but he couldn't say it out loud. He presumed perhaps it's still Alan's betrayal; he's now beginning to read meaning to even things that don't exist.

“Let's go!” He said to the driver, still observant.

They rode together in the rear seat of a black Mercedes.

While the driver drove, Camilla placed her hand inside her bag and brought something out.

“Kevin, this is our family crest. An insignia of recognition and welcome to the governor’s family. Wherever you go with this crest, even if you're driving on the road like this, suppose you've got a car, you can't be stopped.”

Then she took his palm, placing the crest on it. “I want you to keep it, it’s our way of acknowledging everything you've done for us. Let it serve as a keepsake.”

“Anywhere people see you with this, not only will they recognize you like I'd said but will treat you with special regard. Even abroad.

And yes, I still stand by what I said about marrying you. You’re brave, loyal….honestly, your ex-wife really lost a lot. She hasn't realized just yet but soon.”

“Ma’am.” He called.

“Camilla.” She quickly corrected.

Kevin continued nevertheless. “I can’t accept this,” Kevin said, shaking his head. Taking it felt wrong to him, like he’d helped Gov. Aldric expecting a reward.

“Relax, Kevin,” Camilla replied with a gentle smile. “This isn’t official, it’s just something from me. Please, keep it as my expression of gratitude.”

“That’s truly generous of you, Mel….issa. I appreciate it,” Kevin said with a slight bow as he finally took the crest.

The item was crafted from gold, encased beneath a clear diamond-like cover. Since it came from her, Kevin figured it might prove useful someday.

They were still mid-conversation when the car abruptly came to a halt. Without a word, the driver jumped out and ran, leaving both Camilla and Kevin bewildered.

“What's going on?”

In the next instant, two black Lexus SUVs sped in and boxed in the Mercedes from both ends. Doors flung open, and over five masked men dressed in black stepped out, all tall and hefty.

“We wouldn’t have tried this if your guards were still with you,” the gang leader said to Camilla. “And for you, Kevin. Luck isn’t on your side today.”

“So how could we let a chance like this slip away?” The second guy stepped forward with a smirk. Camilla was already trembling but Kevin grabbed her tight. “Don't worry.”

“Well, at least there’s a bit of sense in that thick head of yours, bribing the driver. Still, it feels quite childish. An old method of kidnap. Anyway, satisfy my curiosity…..who sent you?” Kevin suspected two people, the driver himself or Ivy. The driver, because he must have been interested in the crest Camilla talked of and Ivy, as revenge after finding out about Alan.

“Who exactly is your boss?” Kevin barked, making Camilla gesture on him to calm down.

“What if they shoot you?” She whispered into his ear.

“They would never try!”

“You’ll find out when we arrive,” the bald man replied impatiently. “Now, are you stepping out on your own, or do we make you?”

Camilla couldn't bear it any longer, her mouth spewed out in reflex. “Do you even hear yourself? That’s both foolish and dangerous. Have you forgotten who you’re dealing with? If my men come after you, there won’t be anything left of you, just pieces scattered on the road for vultures to pick at.”

Her words lit a fire in them. Their faces tightened with anger, eyes turning red as if they were burning.

“You don’t get to command me,” Camilla went on, standing firm without moving an inch.

“Since you’re making this hard, we’ll show you we’re serious. We don’t care who you are,” the leader said, signaling his men to move in. He raised his hand, ready to smash the windscreen and drag her and Kevin out.

Just then, Kevin opened the door and stepped out. Camilla’s heart tightened, she feared he might be hurt. She had feigned boldness but this is reality. She couldn't afford someone she loves being hurt.

“Camilla, your little protector doesn’t even have courage,” the leader mocked. “Look at him trying to step out, proving so strong and mighty. You better come out and kneel before us and we might spare him.” He teased Kevin, knowing how deeply it would hurt, especially being someone he loved.

Camilla was extremely angry, being treated like this was too much for a princess. It felt like the insult had gone too far.

“You have five seconds to leave this place,” Kevin said firmly.

The men stared at him with contempt, muttering among themselves in anger.

“Get lost! It’s obvious you haven’t eaten properly. A starving, broke man like you wants to challenge us?” they sneered, then burst into laughter together.

Before the leader could finish speaking, Kevin suddenly struck him hard across the face. The force of the hit nearly dislocated his jaw. He stumbled backward, dizzy, with his vision spinning.

“Damn it! Kill him!” he shouted at his men.

The others immediately charged at Kevin with their weapons raised. But Kevin stood his ground without fear.

He moved through them with ease, his steps quick and light. Every time someone got close enough, he landed powerful punches. It almost looked unreal, like he was fighting with effortless skill.

After a few sharp hits and cries of pain, the men collapsed one after another. Not a single one was left standing after Kevin dealt with them.

Taking down more than eight strong, muscular men who were bigger than him was shocking. The bald leader was terrified. He had never been beaten in his life, and he never imagined someone like Kevin could overpower them so easily.

Now he was desperate to understand what kind of man Kevin really was.

“Interesting,” Camilla said softly.

Her eyes lit up with curiosity, and a small smile appeared on her face. She quietly put back the handgun she had in her bag. At first, she had thought Kevin would struggle against such violent men. But he handled them without difficulty. He was far more skilled than even her best-trained bodyguards.

“Such a strong, handsome man,” she thought to herself, careful not to say it out loud. She also remembered her promise to marry him if he succeeded in healing her father.

“Stop! Stay away!” the bald man begged as Kevin walked closer. “Don’t come near me! I’ll make sure you regret this…”

Before he could finish, Kevin punched him hard in the stomach. The man coughed out blood and dropped to his knees, weak and shaking. Now he was the one kneeling in front of Kevin, the same position he had earlier demanded from Kevin and Camilla.

“He’s at your mercy now, princess. What do you want me to do with him?”

Kevin moved back and gave her space.

“Awwww, look at them,” Camilla sneered with a nod, her eyes fixed on the bald man. “Now tell me, who is your boss?”

The man’s face tightened with fear as sweat rolled down his forehead. He hesitated, unsure of what to say.

“Still not talking?” Camilla smirked as she bent down and picked up a knife from the ground. She pressed the blade lightly against his neck. “Talk or die!” She lifted her arm, ready to strike.

At that instant, the bald man panicked and shouted, “Don’t kill me! I’ll tell you everything! It’s Ivy, she sent us. She sighted you guys from the hospital and……”

Camilla stood still, looking over to Kevin. “Honey, come hear what he's saying!” Her voice rose high in pitch.

Kevin only smirked. “I thought as much,” he said. “Right from when we entered the taxi, I felt a negative air.”

“Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you stop us?”

“I didn't want to affirm before I get to confirm, let it not be like an illusion.” Kevin said with a faint smile.

Turning to the man, he hissed. “Go back and tell Ivy that I won’t forget this. When I have time, I’ll come looking for him myself. Now get out of my sight.”

The man and his so-called dead companions suddenly sprang up from the ground and ran for their lives, abandoning their cars behind them. They were clearly terrified and fleeing in panic.

“Honey, you should be more careful next time. Listen to your inner voice. I guess we should be going out with bodyguards all the time.” Camilla suggested.

Kevin was impressed. “We've not even gotten official and you're speaking so informal?”

She blushed.

“So what will you do to that crazy woman, Ivy?”

The corner of Kevin's lips curled slightly. “Leave that to me. Don't worry.”

She fell on his chest, hugging him. “Hun, you’ve already done more than enough. I don’t even know how to repay you,” Camilla said softly, batting her eyelashes and lightly tracing her fingers along her waist in a flirtatious manner.

“It’s not a problem at all,” he replied with non-chalance.

“No, we owe you far too much. I have to repay you anyway!”

After saying that, Camilla shot him a sexy smile turning her body gently like a slow motion, seductively.

“Can I start by repaying you with my sexy body before we talk about marriage?”

Kevin’s blood went stiff-cold with his eyes gawking deep. “Really?”

“Yes, I'm serious.”

Ivy swallowed the words she had planned to say and responded with a restrained greeting, her tone stiff, especially after noticing Camilla beside him. She had assumed Camilla was only with him for that occasion. If someone had told her that this was her ex-husband’s new love interest, she would never have believed it. Yet here it was, real and undeniable. Even though their marriage had ended, Ivy still felt an odd discomfort seeing Kevin with another woman. A faint sting of jealousy crept in. She slightly missed the heavy care he showed her and their kids. Alan had no such time. “Kevin, is she someone you know?” Camilla asked, her gaze sweeping over Ivy from head to toe as if assessing her. There was a subtle edge to her tone, as though she already knew Ivy but was just mocking.Ivy’s eyes widened slightly, she was surprised that Camilla, someone who already knew her, even met her in a gala before, was now acting as if she didn’t recognize her. Still, Ivy sensed it was intentional.

“Gossshhhh!” Kevin couldn't control the glimmer in his eyes. He never expected Camilla to say something like that. When he took a closer look at her, he noticed she had a different kind of beauty compared to Ivy. She was slimmer in figure, with fuller boobs and hips, long straight hair, and a face that looked incredibly smooth. Her skin had a radiant, well-cared-for glow, as though she had undergone some luxurious treatment. She carried a captivating charm that could easily draw men in.“Why are you so surprised?” Camilla laughed loudly, her breast rising with each breath as she watched Kevin’s expression. Her presence carried a distracting, alluring scent that briefly clouded his focus. Kevin struggled to look away from her striking figure, finding it increasingly difficult not to stare. The longer he looked, the more unsettling his reaction became, he felt strangely drawn in.“Let's not rush into that.” Kevin said being a man of principle. He didn't want to be seen as just coming

“By coming for treatment?” The doctor sounded amused, a reaction that got Alan wanting to explain more. “I want you to compound the issue, write on the report the attack was fatal and I sustained serious injuries on my face. It's business. Name your price and I'll give you whatever you want.” Kevin smiled but his smile was invisible under his face mask. “Really?” He sounded not-to-stiff. Alan and the two women following behind him were already so excited. “Alexis said it all. Dr. George is free and outgoing. Assuming we met a strict doctor.” Ivy told her mom. Alexis was her bestfriend. So she knew Dr. George here even when she worked at Carrington. Kevin thought and smiled deep again. “This is a private plan,” now the talkative began. “After getting the report, I'll sue him in court for assault and attempted murder, and get him to prison.” “Yes, of course.” Ivy reinstated. Her pupils dilated with bliss. Bianca beamed. “He's got no money for a lawyer, definitely going

Kevin struck Gov. Aldric lightly behind the right side of the heart and then the left side, repeating the action twice before beginning a slow, careful massage. Everyone in the room watched in confusion, especially the senior doctors, murmuring among themselves. “What is this fool doing here? Someone get him out, he’s only making things worse!” one of the senior doctors shouted when Kevin stayed without any insignificant improvement, stepping forward to push Kevin away from the bedside. But Camilla quickly slid in front of him, blocking his path. She stood her ground and gave him a piercing, warning stare. “If you come any closer to him again, I will deal with you!” she threatened. He immediately became frightened and stepped back. If someone as calm and kind as Camilla everyone admired could say something like that, then the situation was clearly serious. “Why are you always determined to create chaos here?” she fired back at him. “Do you know this man saved me too three mon

Throughout the drive to the governor’s house, he didn't say anything to Camilla, same with her, just that she kept stealing glances at him. After about thirty minutes, they arrived at the State House. They stopped and highlighted from the car just before the garden entrance of the mansion. “Wait here! Let me go inform my dad of your arrival in case he's in a meeting.” Camilla before leaving his side. While waiting alone at the entrance, he decided to wander off a little but not too long when he heard something like a low squeal, the flapping of water. The sound was coming from the right, he looked straight and it was a massive pool, about fifteen meters away. It interpreted to Kevin that someone was calling for help. No wonder the squirling voice sounded low. He forced his way amidst the complicated, windy walking route. But unfortunately by the time he arrived the man was underneath the water. He jumped into the water in search. He froze for a second seeing the depth of the poo
