Chapter Three

Zane planned everything carefully, it was about time Matthew found out the truth. They had been sneaking around for two years now and he was tired of it, he wanted her for himself but for some reason Erica did not want to let go of her good for nothing husband.

"You're not supposed to be home by now." Erica looked away unremorseful, she was still in position and did not care to stand up.

Matthew could only get himself to say one thing, "why?"

Erica was quick to reply, she had kept this buried for a long time. "You're too weak and cannot satisfy my needs in bed, I want a man who will toss me around and fuck me hard, you care for me too much." She sounded so ridiculous that he almost could not believe his ears. If he didn't witness it himself he would never believe that Erica was capable of such.

Zane was pleased to hear her words. "You heard the woman bitch boy, now get moving."

"Did it have to be on our matrimonial bed?" Matthew asked, ignoring the man.

"Can we talk about this later? I was about to cum before you walked in." Erica said.

Too stunned to say a word, Matthew spun around and left the room. He was only a few feets away when he heard them resume and a tear slid down his cheek, falling to his knees he bawled his eyes out like a baby while Erica's moans played in the background.

Even when she hit him, insulted him and  treated him like filth. He told himself that it could not be helped because of her mental illness, deep down she loved him. Therefore he endured every humiliation that came his way. If it wasn't for his marriage to Erica, Matthew knew he would be in a better place than he was now. The man was smart and intelligent with his reputation still intact back then, he would have eventually crawled his way up again but he chose to remain stuck all because of one woman and this is what he got in return.

"I warned you, did I not?" Diana was more than happy to stumble into a crying Matthew in the corridors. Erica's moans filled her ears and she smiled proud of work. She picked Zane herself and the man was perfect. With Matthew gone, taking over Erica's inheritance would be a piece of cake for them. After the scene he just witnessed, Matthew would no doubt agree to sign the divorce papers.

"Will you still choose to remain married to my daughter?" She was dying for the moment he would finally cave in. Even Matthew did not have an answer to that question, although he felt betrayed he also blamed himself. Maybe she wouldn't have cheated if he satisfied her needs.

"That will be for me and Erica to discuss." He said, rising to his feet.

Diana raised a brow not satisfied with his answer. "Still playing hard to get? Looks like I haven't taught you enough lessons yet."

A thunder strike appeared in the sky and she smiled suddenly. "There is no room for you here tonight as Zane will be spending the night over, see yourself out."

Matthew did not plan to spend the night anyway. Diana watched him walk away, the man had no idea what awaited him out there. "You can always come back when you make up your mind to sign the divorce papers, maybe I'll let you sleep in Fluffy's cage." She yelled to Matthew who was already at the end of the corridor and he paid her no need.

As soon as he stepped outside it started pouring rain, he ran to the road side and pulled a cab over.

"Take me to winston hotel." He said to the driver.

Minutes later he was dropped off in front of the hotel. Matthew wasted no time in walking in, fully drenched in rain and shivering from the cold.

"I would like to get a room."

The woman standing behind the counter eyed him like he was a nobody, "I think you're at the wrong place sir, there's a motel down the street if you'd like." She said in a mocking tone. There was no way a man like him could afford a room in their prestigious hotel, he looked like a stray cat and stray cats were dangerous.

Matthew sighed too tired for an argument, he flipped out his card and slammed it in front of her. "Let this decide."

She picked up the card and inserted it in the machine tapping her fingers on the screen. After a few seconds she looked up with her lips pressed into a thin line.

"Declined."

"What do you mean declined?"

Flipping out the card she threw it to the ground, "and how am I supposed to know that?"

"Maybe there's an issue with the bank, here's another." Matthew presented her another card which she reluctantly collected.

"If it does not work this time, I will be calling security." She warned.

"Don't worry it will work."

Seconds later, "it says the same thing," she faced him with a frown, disposing of the card in the same manner she had done the previous one, "you have thirty seconds to get out of my sight." She informed him.

Matthew blinked back confused, he parted his mouth to speak but the ringing sound of his phone stole his attention away. Diana was boldly displayed across the screen, Matthew picked anyway.

"Now that you have nowhere to go, will you come back and sign the papers?"

It immediately clicked, "you're the one who froze my cards."

"I can assure you that is just the beginning if you choose not to divorce my daughter."

Matthew was not even done with his call when two security guards walked his way and pulled him off the ground.

"What are you doing?" He yelled but was ignored and carried out of the building shamefully. On getting outside, they threw him out in the rain along with his ATM cards and trailed off without saying a word to him.

Diana's sick laughter boomed from the speakers, "I suggest you give in for your own good, there is no place for you to go."

With that the line went dead, the realisation that Diana was indeed right hit Matthew, he was stuck in the rain with a broken heart and no money.
