The Business

Susan wasted no time in throwing her few clothes in a hand bag.

"Babe, maybe you should calm down." The lover tried to get her to relax.

"You don't understand babe. I can't stand that guy. He is totally useless. I want to leave right now."

"Why didn't you tell me all this time that you considered me as totally useless?" The look on Jake's face would have melted a heart of stone but unfortunately Susan's heart was made of diamond.

"Did you ever give me the chance?" Susan's lover moved aside, allowing her and Jake to sort out their issues.

Jake did not answer her question, instead he turned towards her lover and yelled.

"What the hell are you still doing in my house?" The man turned and looked at him. It was the first time that Jake had spoken directly at him and he could feel his pain in his voice. He decided that it would be best to give them some privacy. With that thought in mind, he advanced to grab Susan's shoulder. She turned to look at him and he said.

"I'll be waiting for you outside." He said softly as he placed a kiss on her forehead. Jake's heart broke as he looked at the sight before him. He could not believe that his girlfriend...ex-girlfriend would be so reckless as to display her love affair right in front of him.

"Yeah, get out! With your stupid hair and your stupid clothes!" Jake didn't have a very good combat but he just wanted to insult the young man.

When the man had left, he turned to Susan who was back to packing things into her bag.

"Babe, let's talk about this." He begged her.

"There is nothing to talk about Jake. Unless you can become a millionaire overnight and take care of me, I cannot continue suffering with you all in the name of love. I don't even love you that much." She closed her bag and moved speedily towards Jake.

"Did you see that? Did you see what he did? When you do sweet things like that to me, it makes me wanna puke. You know why it makes me want to throw up, it's because you don't have money to make such a little action seem cute. I can't do this anymore." She said with an sigh and went back to packing her bags.

Jake moved towards her, trying earnestly to stop her but Susan has always been a person who does whatever she sets her mind to.

"Babe, please stop. Look I'll work harder, I'll take more shifts."

"Jake, don't you get it?! Even if you were to take a thousand shifts you still won't be able to make as much money as Shane does. He owns his own fucking IT firm! You can never beat that. Enjoy your miserable life!" With that she was out of the door, leaving a broken Jake crying on the floor.

Jake heard a car engine start and then the car drove off. He sat on his floor with only one thought in mind.

Getting Susan back.

He pulled his phone out and placed a call to Marion.

"What's up man?" Marion picked on the second ring.

"Where are you?"

"At home. Why?"

"I'm coming over."

"Coming over? To do wh...?"

Jake ended the call before Marion could say another word. He was not going to explain what he planned on doing over the phone. Few minutes later, he was in a car contemporary if he should really go ahead with his plan or not. Marion wasn't a guy to be trusted, everyone knew that. He was into shady businesses and try as much as he wanted to hide it, it was evident in his face. Jake just hoped that he would be able to get out of whatever he was getting himself into alive.

He knocked on Marion's door twice.

"Bro, you okay?"

Jake wasn't looking his best but that was the least of his problem.

"I'm ready to do it."

"Ready to do what?"

"Don't play with me Marion. Whatever it is that you said I could do to make some extra cash, I am ready to do it."

A crooked smile appeared on the side of Marion's face. The was always joy in his heart whenever a new person wanted to enter into his fold.

"Good. Give me a second, let me put on some clothes."

Marion took Jake to a strange location. He walked steadily towards the door to what looked like a basement. The bouncer in front of the door recognized him immediately.

"Maro! My guy! It's been a while. Where have you been?"

"Just been keeping a low profile man."

"It's all good. It's all good."

"Yo, is Chairman around?"

"Yeah, he is inside. You got fresh meat for him?"

"Fresh out of the oven, man! You know how I be doing it!" They shook hands again and the man opened up the door for them. Jake did not miss the look of pleasure that was on the bouncer's face and it brought chills down his spine.

The club was dimly lit and everyone went about their normal business, completely unaware of the danger that lurked beneath. Marion took Jake's hand, for fear that he may turn back and run, and he dragged him down a basement.

A man who had series of tattoos on his face, turned towards Marion.

"Chairman! Good evening sir."

"Marion my boy. You are back" He turned his head and saw Jake. "And you brought company."

"My friend here wants to learn the art."

"Fine. Give him the merchandise."

A heavy looking parcel was dropped on Jake's lap.

"Now let me warn you boy, if you don't sell every single piece of that produce your life will be in serious danger."

Jake took a deep gulp of his salvia and opened the bag only to see drugs being packed in a see through bag. He couldn't count them all but he was sure that they were more than a thousand inside it. He looked towards Marion, the chairman and his men and he concluded that he was doomed.
