Chapter 3

Nicole's throat tightened as she heard Arthur's words. She stared at him and after a while she asked with great difficulty-

"How will you help?"

Arthur didn't know what to say, but his lips opened faster than his brains, and the words that came of his lips was, "I know a bit of medicine."

Nicole's eyes narrowed  slightly at Arthur's words as if to study him.

He didn't look like a doctor or a man with any capabilities.

"I'm sorry, but I think you're just being grateful, there's no need to do anything." She forced a smile.

Arthur mereky stared straight at her, without saying anymore words.

He couldn't think of a way he could pay back her kindness.

He had already given up when he noticed the sudden nervousness on Nicole's face.

Her calm countenance suddenly became overshadowed with clamor making author curious.

"Is everything alright?" He asked.

When Nicole saw the second message on her screen staring her grandfather might die any moments from now.

Due to the urgency of the situation, Nicole looked up at Arthur and said, "I need your help."

.....

Arthur was still contemplating on the genuineness of his power when the door to the infirmary opened.

A man who seemed to be in his sixties was laying helplessly on the bed.

When Nicole saw him, she ran to him and covered him properly with the sheets.

Arthur walked to the bedside and checked Mr Lee temperature but to his surprise, Mr Lee was burning up.

"This isn't good."

The door suddenly opened with forced, "Who's this man?"

A man in his forties walked inside and didn't seem pleased to see Arthur.

This was the doctor in charge of Mr Lee. His name was Griffin and he was 42 years old.

"He is here to help my father." Nicole responded.

"Your father's sickness is incurable but I've guaranteed you that the best I can do is help him to live more days as much as I can. Why did you bring in quack who is only after your money?"

"Miss Nicole, I won't be liable if anything happens to your father. As the best doctor in the city, I've been treating your father for years."

Nicole nods, "Yes you have, and all I have to show for it is nothing but the expensive drugs that doesn't work."

Griffin was annoyed by Nicole's comment, but still, he wasn't ready to release Mr Lee.

He has no idea what kind of sickness Mr Lee has and only cared about the money Nicole was pumping into the hospital.

"Nicole," Arthur said urgently, "your father's condition is critical."

Dr. Griffin, reacted with annoyance at Arthur's interference. His expression turned defensive as he crossed his arms.

"And who might you be to treat my patient in my hospital?" Dr. Griffin snapped, his tone dripping with condescension.

Arthur glanced at Dr. Griffin, "I'm here to ensure that Mr. Lee receives the proper medical attention he needs. It's clear that his current treatment plan isn't working."

Nicole nodded in agreement, her eyes filled with tears. "Please, Doctor, we can't watch my father suffer like this any longer."

Dr. Griffin, however, was unyielding. He was used to being in control and reluctant to accept any challenges to his authority.

"I am the best doctor in this town," he declared, his voice unwavering. "I've been treating Mr. Lee for years, and I know what's best for him. You have no right to question my expertise."

Arthur, though not a medical professional, had seen enough to recognize that Mr. Lee's condition was deteriorating rapidly. He couldn't let Dr. Griffin's pride jeopardize a patient's life.

"I doubt your experience, Doctor," Arthur replied evenly, "The results speak for themselves. Mr. Lee deserves better than expensive treatments that yield no improvement."

The doctor scoffed, the veins on his forehead visible as his lips pouted in anger. " This is my hospital I will not allow an unqualified low life to examine my patient. Security!"

The doctor called for the security, just as they were about to grab Arthur who have been speechless, Mr Lee starts coughing.

Blood was gushing from his mouth and he was unable to sit on the bed.

Nicole's eyes wells up. The muscles of her heart crumbling heart crumbling at the sight of her father.

"I don't know what he has given your father, and now your father is coughing blood. Nicole, take the fake doctor away from the hospital."

As Mr. Lee's coughing intensified,

Nicole frantically begged the hospital staff to call for an ambulance.

"Please, we need an ambulance now!" Nicole cried out, her voice trembling with desperation. She could hardly bear to see her father in such agony.

But time was slipping away, and it was becoming painfully evident that an ambulance wouldn't be coming to save Mr. Lee. His once frail body was now in the throes of a severe crisis, and every second counted.

Dr. Griffin, wouldn't accept that it was his treatment that was ineffective, instead he blamed Arthur.

"He is killing a patient!" Griffin kept screaming for the hospital staffs to cone to his rescue and in no minutes, other doctors stormed the ward.

Amid the chaos and fear, Arthur eyes were unwavering as he assessed Mr. Lee's deteriorating condition. He knew that he was Mr. Lee's only hope at this critical moment.

"Move aside," Arthur urged the hospital staff, his voice steady and commanding. "We can't wait for an ambulance. I need a sterile environment and any medical supplies you have."

Dr. Griffin was reluctant, "No one can help you with such."

The hospital staffs hesitated for a moment, but when they saw Mr Lee coughing blood, they hurriedly prepared a small treatment area, gathering what supplies they could find.

As Arthur tried stabilizing Mr. Lee, there was a palpable sense of tension in the room.

Mr Lee kept coughing blood, Arthur feared that Mr Lee might not have much time left.

Nicole watched with bated breath, her eyes locked on her grandfather's frail form.

When her eyes met Arthur's eyes, and he nodded his head negatively.

Nicole felt her heart about to stop.
