The underground chamber trembled as another heavy shockwave rolled through the stone floor. Dust rained down from the ancient ceiling, coating the commander’s dark iron armor in white powder.

Japh stood above him, the white-gold celestial spear resting across his shoulders. The double-headed blade hummed with a quiet, lethal frequency.

"You think you're a savior, boy?" The commander spat blood onto the cold marble, coughing violently. "You played right into the High Warlord’s hands. Why do you think we raided Kornite village? Why do you think we hunted your bloodline?"

Japh’s eyes narrowed. "You were hunting for scrap metal and divine relics."

"Scrap metal?" The commander laughed, a rasping, wet sound. "The rubble you scavenged your whole life was the Seal of the First Gate! We needed a Founder’s bloodline to trigger a massive energy surge. The moment you called down that divine lightning to save your sister, you sent a shockwave straight through the Ley-lines. You broke the outer seal for us!"

The realization hit Japh like a physical blow.

Kornite village wasn't an accident. The poverty, the scraps, the sudden arrival of the Syndicate—it was all a setup. By unleashing Zeus’s power, Japh had unwittingly acted as the key the Syndicate needed to shatter the ancient barrier locking the inner city.

"The Sunken Palace is open," the commander sneered, his voice fading. "The High Warlord will claim the Founder's core... and this realm will burn again."

Japh didn't answer. He turned on his heel and launched himself up the stone chute, leaving the commander to the collapsing darkness.

Emerging into the upper ruins, Japh moved like a streak of golden lightning.

The heavy fog that had shrouded the Lost City was being torn apart by violent energy storms centered over the mountain peak. In the distance, the black war vessels of the Iron Syndicate hovered above a colossal, sunken amphitheater—the entrance to the Sunken Palace.

Dozens of elite Syndicate guards in heavy plated armor formed a thick perimeter around the glowing breach in the earth.

Japh skidded to a halt atop a ruined watchtower, his breathing steady, his mind focused.

The founder was no holy king, boy, Zeus’s thunderous voice resonated in his mind, solemn and heavy. Eons ago, the First Founder of this city sought to conquer the heavens themselves. His corruption brought down the realm, and my thunder sealed him in the deep. If the Warlord unseals his grave, the calamity will repeat.

"I won't let them have it," Japh muttered, tightening his grip on the celestial spear. "I’ll destroy the palace before they siphon his power."

You cannot defeat an army alone with raw fury, Zeus warned. Look beneath your feet. The true guardians of the realm sleep beneath the ash, waiting for a commander worthy of the spear.

Japh looked down. Beneath the watchtower lay a cavernous military parade ground, half-buried under thousands of years of overgrown roots and fallen masonry. Row upon row of seven-foot-tall stone constructs stood in strict formation, covered in ancient moss. They were the Terra-Sentinels—the automated Vanguard built by the ancient realm.

As Japh watched, a squad of five Syndicate elite guards noticed him atop the tower.

"Target spotted!" the squad leader shouted, pointing a dark-alloy heavy crossbow. "Fire!"

Black iron bolts whistled through the air. Japh didn't flinch. He leapt from the tower, spinning the celestial spear in a tight wheel that vaporized the incoming projectiles.

He landed heavily in the center of the silent Terra-Sentinel army.

The impact sent a pulse of pure, white-gold energy rippling outward through the stone floor. The ancient runes along the celestial spear flared with blinding light, cascading down into the earth like liquid fire.

The ground began to groan.

"What is he doing?" one of the Syndicate soldiers yelled, halting his charge. "Is he trying to break the floor?"

The golden light spread rapidly, leaping from construct to construct. The moss covering the stone statues withered into ash. The dull grey stone of their armor cracked, revealing glowing veins of brilliant blue liquid lightning beneath.

One by one, the massive eyes of ten thousand Terra-Sentinels ignited with a cold, unyielding blue glare.

A heavy, metallic thrum echoed across the valley as the ancient guardians shifted their weight in unison. The sound was like a mountain grinding against itself.

"System initialized," a hollow, multi-layered voice echoed from the lead Sentinel directly in front of Japh. The construct was a giant holding a towering tower shield and a massive broadsword, its body forged from the same white-gold celestial steel as Japh's weapon.

The lead Sentinel knelt on one knee, plunging its heavy sword into the stone floor.

"Founder's corrupted signature detected at the Sunken Palace," the Sentinel intoned, its voice vibrating with ancient authority. "Direct descendant of the true bloodline identified. Divine Aegis weapon verified."

Behind the commander, ten thousand stone and steel constructs slammed their right fists against their chest plates in a deafening salute.

CRACK!

The shockwave blew away the remaining fog, exposing the Syndicate's line to the newly awakened legion.

"Commander Japh of Kornite," the lead Sentinel said, rising to its feet and towering over him. "The Vanguard awaits your command. Shall we purge the usurpers?"

Across the parade ground, the squad of Syndicate soldiers took three steps back, their faces pale beneath their iron helmets. "No... no way... He awakened the dormant army?!"

Japh raised the double-headed celestial spear into the air. Golden arcs of thunder danced between the blades, connecting his divine core directly to the hearts of the ten thousand Sentinels.

He finally understood. These constructs weren't loyal to the corrupt Founder who had destroyed the realm; they were bound to protect the realm itself and follow the bearer of Zeus's divine authority. He wasn't just a boy running from the Syndicate anymore.

He was the General of the Lost City.

"Syndicate forces have breached the inner sanctuary," Japh ordered, his voice echoing across the ruins with thunderous power. "Form the Vanguard! Clear a path to the Sunken Palace!"

"By your command!" the lead Sentinel roared.

The Terra-Sentinel legion moved as one divine war machine. The front rank raised their massive white-gold shields, creating an impenetrable wall of steel, and surged forward like an unstoppable tidal wave.

The five Syndicate soldiers turned to run, but the lead Sentinel leapt fifty feet through the air, its massive sword descending like a falling meteor. The impact shattered the stone floor and cleared the entrance to the main road leading to the palace.

Above, the black warships of the Iron Syndicate noticed the sudden shift on the ground. Their heavy turrets pivoted downward, opening fire with dark energy blasts that rained onto the advancing stone army.

Shields locked together, the Sentinels absorbed the heavy fire, their rune-etched armor glowing brightly as they redirected the energy harmlessly into the earth.

Japh stepped into the center of the legion, flanked by giant constructs on all sides.

"Advance!" Japh shouted, pointing the tip of his spear toward the glowing breach of the Sunken Palace.

With ten thousand ancient soldiers marching behind him, Japh charged straight toward the heart of the enemy, ready to face the High Warlord and stop the rising of the corrupt Founder once and for all.
