Darkness.

Then...

Light.

Kael slowly opened his eyes.

He was standing in a vast meadow covered with silver grass that stretched beyond the horizon. Above him, there was no sun, no moon, and no stars. Instead, enormous rivers of light flowed across the sky like living constellations.

The air was peaceful.

Too peaceful.

There was no trace of the Hollow King’s corruption.

No scent of death.

No hatred.

Only silence.

“So...”

A calm voice echoed behind him.

“What do you think of my home?”

Kael turned.

The Hollow King stood several metres away, no longer wearing his black robes. Instead, he wore simple white clothing, looking less like an ancient destroyer and more like an ordinary traveller.

“You brought me here.”

The Hollow King nodded.

“Yes.”

“Where is this place?”

The ancient ruler smiled.

“The First Realm.”

“The birthplace of all worlds.”

Kael’s eyes widened.

“The First Realm...”

“I thought it was only a legend.”

“So did everyone after it was erased.”

The Hollow King began walking through the silver fields.

Kael followed cautiously.

As they walked, strange creatures emerged from the tall grass.

Small beings made of light.

Winged animals that sparkled like diamonds.

Children laughed as they chased glowing butterflies.

Kael frowned.

“Children?”

The Hollow King nodded.

“This is a memory.”

“They are no longer alive.”

The laughter slowly faded.

Kael’s heart became heavy.

They reached the enormous tree Kael had seen through the portal.

It was impossible to describe.

Its roots stretched through empty space.

Its branches carried countless glowing worlds, each enclosed within a shimmering sphere.

Some were blue.

Some were green.

Some were already dark and lifeless.

Kael stared in amazement.

“What is this?”

The Hollow King’s expression became solemn.

“The World Tree.”

“Every living realm is born from one of its branches.”

Kael slowly reached toward one of the glowing spheres.

Inside it, he saw an entire civilisation.

People lived their lives, completely unaware that their world rested upon a single branch.

“Incredible...”

The Hollow King smiled sadly.

“I used to protect them.”

“You?”

Kael looked at him.

“You were their guardian?”

“Yes.”

“For longer than your mind could understand.”

He placed a hand on the trunk of the World Tree.

“My duty was simple.”

“Protect every world.”

“Allow every civilisation to grow.”

“Never interfere.”

Kael frowned.

“What changed?”

The Hollow King’s eyes closed.

“I loved someone.”

The air around them shifted.

A memory unfolded before Kael.

A young woman appeared beneath the World Tree.

She had golden hair and eyes like dawn.

She laughed as she chased streams of light through the branches.

The Hollow King smiled.

“Her name was Elyria.”

“She believed every life deserved another chance.”

Kael watched as the two spoke, laughed and travelled across countless worlds together.

For the first time...

The Hollow King looked genuinely happy.

“What happened to her?”

The smile disappeared.

“The Watchers judged her.”

Kael froze.

“The First Watcher?”

“There were many Watchers.”

“They believed attachment weakened judgement.”

“They accused Elyria of interfering with destiny.”

The memory darkened.

Kael watched helplessly as chains of golden light surrounded Elyria.

She looked at the Hollow King one last time.

Then...

She disappeared.

Not killed.

Erased.

As though she had never existed.

Kael’s fists tightened.

“They erased her...”

The Hollow King whispered,

“They erased every memory of her.”

“I remembered.”

“And for that...”

“They called me dangerous.”

The peaceful meadow vanished.

The sky became black.

The World Tree trembled violently.

Dark cracks spread across its trunk.

“What is happening?”

Kael asked.

The Hollow King’s voice became cold.

“While the Watchers punished love...”

“They ignored something far worse.”

The cracks widened.

From the darkness beneath the roots emerged a monstrous shadow with thousands of glowing eyes.

It wrapped itself around the World Tree.

Entire worlds began falling from the branches.

Millions of lives vanished in seconds.

Kael stood frozen.

“The Hollow...”

“No.”

The ancient king shook his head.

“This...”

“...is the Void.”

“The true enemy.”

Kael’s breathing became uneven.

“So everything we’ve been fighting...”

“The corruption.”

“The Abyss.”

“The Hollow.”

“They’re all...”

“The symptoms.”

The Hollow King nodded.

“The Void is the disease.”

Silence.

The ancient king turned to Kael.

“When I begged the Watchers to unite...”

“They refused.”

“So I broke their laws.”

“I created an army.”

“I taught mortals how to wield the power of Sovereigns.”

“The first among them...”

He looked directly at Kael.

“...became the First Sovereign.”

Kael’s eyes widened.

“So you were his teacher.”

“Yes.”

“And my greatest failure.”

The memory ended.

The silver meadow returned.

Kael stood in silence, struggling to process everything he had seen.

Finally, he asked the question that had haunted him since entering this realm.

“If everything you’ve shown me is true...”

“Why attack our world?”

The Hollow King’s expression grew unreadable.

“Because the Void has already found it.”

He slowly pointed to the sky.

High above, a tiny black crack appeared among the rivers of light.

It expanded.

Slowly.

Relentlessly.

“I did not come to conquer your world, Kael.”

“I came...”

“...to prepare it.”

Before Kael could respond, a deep voice thundered across the First Realm.

“LIAR.”

The World Tree shook violently.

Golden light poured from the heavens.

Someone else had arrived.

And the Hollow King’s calm expression finally changed.

For the first time...

He looked worried.
