CHAPTER 2

FED UP WITH IT ALL

Reuben left the premises of the hotel and headed back to the office. He was angry about all the things that had happened in the past few minutes.

Although he had had enough humiliations from and maltreatment from his wife's family, he never knew his wife could cheat on him with another man simply because she thought he was broke.

Yet he smiled again

In his family, a series of tests was run for the person to inherit the family property. On his own side it included staying with his wife and her family and acting like a broke man.

True to their assumptions, he had been maltreated by every member of the family from the oldest person to the youngest including Louisa herself.

Now it was time to reveal the truth to Louisa and let her know his true identity but thinking about what had happened a few minutes ago, he concluded it was not necessary to do so.

He headed straight to the office and after confirming the delivery of his order he went back home.

In the house he began packing his belongings into a small traveling bag of his. His wife who had gotten home before mocked him.

“ And where do you think you are leaving to? Louisa asked with a laughter.

“ To a place where I'm valued and respected,” Reuben replied as he continued packing.

“ Huh, you?. You are nothing without me I tell you. You are going to be on the streets, a homeless and a hungry man I say” Louisa said pointing a finger at Reuben

Reuben shook his head and continued packing.

“ Now listen Reuben, you are my legally married husband and that means you must bear with me in everything I do. Whether good or bad. If you refuse to stay then I think you know what happens to you right?? ” Louisa said in a mocking tone.

Reuben paused, he turned around to look at Louisa with a smile.

“ Yes, you are right, you are absolutely right, and that is the reason why I am about to say this.

I need you to sign the divorce papers by tomorrow!! ” Reuben said and turned around to zip up his bag.

“ What!! You are joking right. If you ask for a divorce, you are going to die like a fowl without me and my family and you know that right. Now tell me, what makes you think I'm going to sign in for you just like that huh? ” Louisa said and smirked.

“ I don't know for you woman!! But I've had enough of the maltreatment from you and your family for years and it is up to the brim. I can't take it anymore. As I said, I need you to sign the divorce papers by tomorrow and I don't care about the aftermath” Reuben said and thrusted his bag on his shoulders

“ You and your family have maltreated me enough. Anyone at all in your family from the young to the old disrespect me. You guys disgrace me publicly everytime and you never say anything yet you always join them in humiliating me . And now you cheat on me with another man yet you are not even remorseful. Instead of apologizing, you supported that man to humiliate me in the hotel.But now you stand here telling me to bear with you. Who does that? Now I'm done”

Reuben said pointing an accusing finger at Louisa

“ It's funny though. But I can't just sign the divorce. You know you can't leave this good and flashy lifestyle without me and my family catering for you. And mind you, you deserved every single humiliation because your are a poor broke man who got so lucky to have married a woman from a very wealthy family like mine“ Louisa said with a smile

“ Whatever you say. I don't care anymore.

All I need from you is to sign the divorce papers by tomorrow and that's it.!! ” Reuben replied.

“ To hell with you Mr man. You are on your own. But just so you know. I cannot sign the divorce papers on my own will. I will have to ask my family and my grandmother first . If she agrees, I will go on and sign and leave your miserable ass…” Louisa said .

Before Reuben could say anything she quickly continued as if she had just remembered something

“ .. and oh yes, I think you should know about this. Tomorrow is grandma's birthday and you know it's compulsory for you to attend.

We will talk over the matters tomorrow and if she agrees I'll sign for the divorce as you wish. ” Louisa finished and chuckled at Reuben..

“ Well.. I don't care if it's her birthday or not. All I need is for you to sign the divorce papers. When you finally sign you know how to contact me. Bye." Reuben said and headed for the door.

“ Wait… ” Louisa said before Reuben could walk out.

Reuben stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her.

“... You are making a big mistake Reuben, you would be in a deep mess with the decision you are taking. My whole family would turn against you and you know you are not going to survive it. ” Louisa said.

“ Who cares about your family?" Reuben simply said and walked out.

Louisa stood there as Reuben walked out. She wondered what gave Reuben the guts to take such a decision. As far as she was concerned, Reuben was a nobody without her and her family. And now that he was leaving,her whole family would turn against him. She stood in awe watching Reuben through the glass window as he got onto the motorbike, tucked the bag firmly behind him, put on his helmet and rode out of the compound.

She shrugged and hissed as she closed the door Reuben had left open.

Reuben got on his motorbike and rode off. He went back to the office and parked the motorbike as it was the property of the delivery company he was working for.

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

“ Meet me at the delivery company's premises' ' He said to the receiver and cut the call.

Soon enough, a black Mercedes parked by his side in a few minutes and he got in. He shut the door and the car drove off
