The lady wrinkled an eyebrow.
“You don't recognize me? It's me, Kara. We spoke on the phone,” she said. “Oh, it's the blonde hair, isn't it? I had to get a disguise to come here without my bodyguards.” She smiled. “Um… I am sorry but you must be mistaken. You have the wrong person.” Ethan replied. “Mistaken? Ah, I see what is going on. Fine, I will increase the payment to three million dollars.” She announced. “That's a very nice offer, but like I said, you have the wrong person. I never spoke to you on the phone, I am not who you are here to meet.” Ethan explained. “You are not Mr. Smith?” She asked with a confused expression. Ethan pulled out his business card and gave it to her. “No Ms, I am Ethan Vale,” he announced. Kara was surprised to hear this, she looked at the card for confirmation. “Oh my God, I am really sorry about this.” She said, pulling the paper back. “I was supposed to meet someone here at this place, I guess he developed cold feet.” “Yeah, I am sorry about that.” Ethan replied nonchalantly, he didn't care about this, he just wanted to eat his pie and go home to sulk. “It's alright. By the way, I know it's a long shot but would you be interested in this deal?” she suddenly asked. Ethan paused and looked up at her. “Huh? You don't even know me.” “You are right, but I am desperate right now and you look like a good guy.” Ethan smiled for the first time in a long time. “That's a nice thing to say, however I must decline,” he said, waving his finger to reveal his ring. “I am married already.” “Oh,” she gasped. “I am so sorry, how did I not see that? I will leave you alone now, sorry for the disturbance, Mr. Vale.” She said in a rush and stood up. “It's no problem.” Ethan didn't bother to ask why she needed a contract husband, he had problems of his own to deal with. But she was a very beautiful woman with a stunning physique, so it shouldn't be that difficult finding a man willing to marry her. His eyes trailed her shape from behind as she walked away and he thought about his wife. What could she be doing right now? Ethan tried calling her but she wouldn't answer, he went online and the first post that appeared on his feed was that of Damian Lillard. Damian has just posted pictures of him and Clara on a dinner outing at a restaurant, she was wearing the exact outfit he had seen her leave in. On a closer look, Ethan realized that it was this exact same restaurant that he was in. He couldn't believe it, his wife had come to the most expensive restaurant in York town with another man on their wedding anniversary. He rushed out and checked all the tables but he couldn't find them, the restaurant manager had to send him out of the place as he was causing a scene. Ethan hopped into his car and sped off. He figured they already left and Clara would be on her way home if not there already. How could she treat him this way? He went to great lengths to make plans for tonight but she couldn't care less, rather she was out with another man. Getting inside their home, he found her in the living room pouring herself a glass of champagne. Clara stood up with a frown the moment she saw him. “Where did you go? You were supposed to be waiting for me here at home. I have been waiting here for over twenty minutes! Don't you even care about the fact that it is our anniversary? Does this family even matter to you?” She yelled. Ethan huffed, he couldn't believe her lies. Twenty minutes? The AI powered tech door revealed that she had only walked in four minutes ago, and why was she pretending to care about their anniversary? “Aren't you going to answer me? Why are you giving me that attitude? Can't you apologize?” Of course, that's what it always was with her, his apology. She enjoyed making him feel miserable and guilty, she loved playing the victim and it was getting old now. “Clara, don't pretend to care about our wedding anniversary. You didn't even remember it was today until I mentioned it. And if I might ask, where are you coming from? Why have you been ignoring my calls?” He queried. Clara avoided his gaze at the question, she immediately picked up a package and tossed it to him. “I have been all over town trying to get you those, it's a brand new pair from a famous brand like you requested.” She announced. Ethan was reluctant to check it but he picked it up and opened it. Truly, it was a new pair of shoes, but it didn't take more than five seconds for him to recognize that it was a bonus pair. The shoe was a substandard version of the original shoe which came as a bonus for buying three pairs of St. Vincent luxury shoes. So if she was giving him the bonus pair, then clearly she had given someone else the original and he already knew who. But just to confirm, Ethan took out his phone and went alone. Like he suspected, Damian had made a post showing a new collection of shoes. He had captioned it. “Extra gifts from my sexy boss, I love her so much” and the payer's name was none other than his wife: Clara Kent. Ethan laughed bitterly, swallowing the furious words forming in his throat. He quickly tossed the shoes to the floor. “You can as well throw them into the trashcan, I don't wear worthless items.” he blurted. “What?” Clara muttered and the very next second, she slapped him hard across the face. “How dare you, Ethan?!” T. The King of War
There was a knock on Ethan’s apartment in the evening.Ethan, who had been reviewing regional logistics reports in his study, calmly walked down the staircase to answer it himself. He turned the polished brass handle and swung the door open, only to find three familiar figures standing beneath the porch lights. It was Kara and her parents.Kara stood in the center, her eyes red-rimmed and brimming with tears, her hands trembling as she clutched a small medical file against her chest. Flanking her were her mother and father, both vibrating with an absolute, unbridled fury that distorted their features. Before Ethan could even utter a word of greeting, Kara’s father took an aggressive step forward, shoving a finger directly toward Ethan’s chest. “You absolute monster! You thought you could just play your little games with our family and walk away unscathed?”Ethan remained perfectly still, his eyes shifting calmly to Kara. “Kara? What is th
Master Vance
Mary Jane’s father paced the linoleum floor, his hands wringing together so tightly his knuckles turned white. “You have to do it, Mary! You have to go to him and beg for his forgiveness, accept to marry him! There is no other way out of this nightmare!”“Father, no! I already told you, I would rather die!” Mary Jane cried out. “He is a repulsive, predatory monster! How can you stand there and ask me to hand my entire life over to a tyrant like Master Vance?”“Because if you don’t, we are going to lose absolutely everything!” her mother wept, clutching a damp handkerchief to her face as she stepped toward her daughter. “Mary, look around you! The thugs are going to return with more men. They will burn this roof right over our heads! Your father and I are too old to sleep in the dirt. Master Vance offered to erase every single cent of our debt the moment you sign the marriage contract. It’s a sacrifice, yes, but it’s a sacrifice that saves your family!”“A

The dirt-packed paths of the village market were bustling with the mid-morning rush, a chaotic maze of wooden stalls, colorful awnings, and the sharp aromas of fresh produce, dried spices, and livestock.Ethan walked a step behind Mary Jane, his hands casually slid into his trouser pockets. To the casual observer, he looked like an ordinary visitor; he had left his luxury SUV parked back at the farmhouse and accompanied her on foot, wearing a simple button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. But beneath his relaxed posture, his razor-sharp senses were fully engaged. As they moved past the crowded stalls, the shift in the atmosphere was instantaneous. The lively bartering died down, replaced by a toxic, heavy wave of stage-whispers and pointed glares.“Look, there she is. The shameless one,” a woman at a fabric stall muttered, nudging her neighbor.“Back from the city after getting caught, and now she’s dragging some new man around
Mary Jane
The rolling green hills of the York Town countryside were bathed in the soft, muted gold of a late afternoon sun, but the scenic tranquility did nothing to ease the quiet weight settling in Ethan Vale’s chest. He pulled his black SUV to a stop along a narrow, dirt-hemmed driveway leading to a modest, slightly weathered farmhouse. He had made a solemn promise to Sabrina, and the King of War never broke his word.Stepping out of the vehicle, he walked toward the porch, his eyes taking in the peeling white paint of the railing and the old rocking chair resting in the shade. Before he could even knock, the door creaked open.A young woman stepped out, carrying a woven basket of laundry. The moment her eyes locked onto his figure, the basket slipped from her hands, tumbling to the wooden deck.“M-Mr. Vale?”Ethan froze, a sharp pang of guilt twisting in his gut. It was Mary Jane, his former personal assistant. But she was a shadow of
Nico Seaman, you are fired!!
The reflective glass doors of Seaman Technologies didn't offer Nico Seaman the same sense of absolute domain they usually did when he stormed through them. Although his new plan of tarnishing Vale Corp’s image seems to be working, it had cost the Seaman Group a ton of money, and the sting of losing the initial two hundred and forty million dollars was still vibrating through his veins like an electrical current. He didn't bother greeting his assistant as he marched straight toward the main executive conference room, ready to summon his financial analysts and demand a full audit on the state commercial banking clauses. But the moment he threw the double doors open, he stopped dead in his tracks. The room wasn't empty. Sitting at the head of the long obsidian table was his brother, Dave Seaman. Surrounding him were five of the most powerful, stone-faced senior board executives and institutional shareholders of the corporation. The atmosphere in the room was
Lawsuits
The morning sun barely touched the glass facade of Vale Corporation’s tower when Ethan strode into the building. He had been taking the operational side of the company very seriously these days, fully intending to keep his word of completely overtaking Seaman Group of Companies with little or no reliance on his hidden, lethal King Of War alter ego.Arriving at the executive suite, Mario Kart stood pale as a ghost by the door, clutching a digital tablet with trembling hands.“Ethan, we have a massive problem,” she whispered, her voice tight with panic.Ethan frowned, unbuttoning and taking off his suit coat. “Of course we do, Mario. Don't we always? What kind of problem are we facing so early in the morning?”Mario swallowed hard, her knuckles turning white around the device. “Not just one. Dozens, I am afraid.” She held out the tablet toward him. “Thirty-two separate lawsuits were filed against our various subsidiaries and acquisition ass
