Damian refused to take Ethan's call, he rudely responded with a text message, asking what Ethan wanted .

Ethan tried playing nice at first, he asked Damian to focus on why he was hired here and stay away from his wife.

Damian replied. “Why should I do that, Ethan? Are you jealous that your wife finds me attractive? It's not my fault that you are an ugly caveman, maybe if you clear that weird beard of yours, she might spend more time with you.”

At this point, Ethan lost his cool and threatened to fire Damian if he didn't stay away, he also asked him to return the Lamborghini as it was bought with company money.

But his threats didn't prove effective like Ethan had imagined. The new general manager didn't seem scared of him, he had sent him the middle finger emoji and had even threatened to report him to his wife for bullying.

This only further angered Ethan, the audacity of this man to challenge him in his own company. Clearly, Damian knew that Clara would take his side.

Ethan didn't want to pursue this any further, if his wife found out, it would only drive them farther apart and he couldn't let that happen today, he still wanted this anniversary to be celebrated and maybe it will be a new beginning for their relationship.

Ethan was surprised to find out that it was already 8pm, he had been so buried in work that he didn't realize it was getting late. The reservation was by 9:30pm so he needed to be on his way home.

However, on his way off the 20th floor where their company office was, Ethan ran into Clara in the Elevator. She was talking to someone on a video call with a smile plastered on her face, but ended it as soon as she saw him.

Ethan was surprised to see her dressed in a short red sexy gown with long sleeves, she had made her hair and applied make up. She looked very pretty and clearly she was dressed for an outing.

Does this mean she didn't forget their anniversary like he thought? She must have made plans for tonight as well!

He was about to speak when Clara cut him short.

“What do you think you are doing, Ethan?” She asked with a furious expression. “What, now you are stalking me too? That is so disgusting! You know, just because we are married doesn't mean you have the right to control me. You don't own me, Ethan, is that clear?”

Ethan Vale was surprised by her outburst. He guessed he was wrong, she was not planning any surprise for their anniversary.

He thought perhaps she was back to her old habits of clubbing.

Ethan had been the one who proposed to Clara and she accepted him because she had no other options and her life held no meaning.

In the early weeks of their marriage, when Valetech was not yet successful, she would go to clubs every night and drink till she was drunk and all he could do was come pick her up.

Staring at his angry wife, he let out a sigh. “Clara, I am not stalking you. Work hours end at 6:00pm, it's past 8:00pm and so I am on my way home to rest, you can go wherever you want and do whatever you want.” He said calmly.

The truth was that Ethan was tired, he already has a lot of pressure from work to have to worry about Clara drinking. Moreover it was their anniversary, if she wanted to spend it getting drunk, then good for her.

Clara was surprised to hear this, she didn't know Ethan was still at the company the whole time.

Just then her phone began ringing again. She answered and a male voice came in asking why she hung up.

“Oh, I was interrupted by…” she suddenly paused and then shook her head. “...Nobody. Don't worry, I am on my way now, I will be there soon.” She smiled and ended the call.

Ethan didn't care to ask who she was speaking to as he recognized the voice: It was Damian Lillard, her first love.

“Where are you going?” He finally asked, unable to hold back the question.

Clara rolled her eyes at him. “That is none of your business. I told you already, you can't stop me from doing anything, I don't belong to you!” She yelled.

“I didn't say you do, and I also already told you that you can go wherever you want to, I am just asking to know for security reasons and for…”

She interrupted him with her laughter. “Did you say security reasons? Like you can keep me safe if I was in any real danger,” she said mockingly. “Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself.”

Ethan sighed. “I was also asking because today is our anniversary.” He announced.

There was a look of surprise on Clara's face, clearly she didn't remember that today was their anniversary, but she quickly covered it with a smile.

“Did you think I didn't know that?” She scoffed. “I am very much aware, why do you think I got you that pair of shoes?” She queried.

Ethan didn't answer her, he remained silent as the elevator reached the ground floor.

They both got into their cars parked in the lot.

“Hey! You better wait till I am out of the lot before you drive out, I don't trust you.” She warned.

Next thing she sped out of the car lot like she was being chased by a demon. Clearly she didn't want him to follow her and Ethan could only imagine why. He already had a stressful day, he didn't have time for that bullshit.

Ethan went home and freshened up. Looking in the mirror, he remembered Damian's mean words and felt his beard in sadness. He barely had time for himself these days.

Immediately, he picked up his shaving stick and shaved it off clean, then he wore a blue long sleeve shirt with black pants ready to leave.

Ethan waited for a while but Clara didn't show up, he tried her number but she didn't answer. He figured she was a no-show and decided to leave.

Since Clara wasn't coming, he decided to go to the restaurant on his own. If she wouldn't celebrate their anniversary, then he would do it alone.

**

In the restaurant…

Staring coldly at the pie on his table, he couldn't bring himself to eat it. He had cancelled the other orders and requested something simple, because he was in a foul mood and had lost his appetite.

Just then a stunning beautiful woman approached him, she seemed to be in a hurry as she looked around to see if she was being followed. Ethan had paid for a VIP table, so there was no one else in that part of the restaurant.

“Hello, Mr. Smith, thank you for coming. I'm sorry I'm late, I was a bit caught up with activities.” She said as she took a seat opposite him and placed her bag on the table.

Ethan was confused, he didn't know who she was or why she was here. Although he was immediately attracted by her beautiful physique and large busts.

“So as we agreed over the phone, the marriage will only be for a few months and I will pay you fairly for your services. Remember, it has to be convincing, no one can know that it is a fake marriage. If you are ready, please sign here.” She said, pushing a paper to him.

Ethan Vale furrowed his eyebrows. “I am sorry, who are you?” He asked in confusion.

  • Donation Chaos

While they were sitting at the roadside stall, the quiet buzz of the evening was interrupted by the constant pinging of Donald’s phone. Someone in the "Class of 2016" group chat had tagged both of them, and the messages were already spiraling out of control."Ethan, look at this. That idiot Philip is causing trouble again," Donald muttered, his voice slurred slightly from the beer. He slammed his bottle on the table, his eyes red with indignation. "I swear, I really want to punch that guy in the face..."Philip Vance was indeed back to his usual sarcastic self in the group chat:Philip Vance: @Ethan Vale, hey Ethan, since you were boasting earlier about knowing the 'Beauty Queen' Kara Lewis, that must mean you’re rolling in it, right? • Damian’s deceit

Clara Kent's penthouse was a monument to modern opulence, covered with glass and cold marble from floor to ceiling. Inside, the scent of expensive bourbon filled the air.Damian Lillard was sitting on the plush velvet sofa, swirling a glass of amber liquid when Clara walked in. She was already dressed, her hair meticulously styled, jewelry glittering under the recessed lighting. She stopped behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder.“Damian? Why are you still sitting here in your robe?” she asked, her voice tinged with a mix of confusion and impatience. “The York Town University anniversary gala starts in a few hours. This is the biggest event of the year, honey. I’ve already secured three VIP tickets; one for you, one for me, and one for Sophie. We need to start moving.”Damian didn’t turn around. He let out a long, theatrical sigh and took a slow, deliberate sip of his drink. “I don’t think I’m going, Clara. You and Sophie should go ahead without me.”

  • A placeholder

Kara pulled back slightly, her hands resting on his chest with a frown on her face. "I was starting to think you’d decided the barbecue stall was more interesting than your own wife."Ethan smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair from her forehead. "Nothing is more interesting than you, Kara. I just had some things to settle."She stepped back, gesturing toward the open walk-in closet where three exquisite gowns were laid out. "Since you’re here, make yourself useful. The blue velvet, the midnight silk, or the silver lace?"Ethan walked over, his eyes scanning the fabrics. He pointed to the midnight silk. "The silk. It is more fitting for a powerful woman like you."Kara’s eyes brightened. She ran a hand over the fabric and nodded. "The silk it is." She said and then paused, realizing he was still in his casual clothes. "Why aren't you getting ready yet?""Kara, I have to take those tickets to Donald," Ethan said, turning toward the vanity.

  • What’s your identity?

Ethan and Donald walked away from the riverfront restaurant. They settled onto plastic stools at a roadside barbecue stall. It was 4:00 PM, and the air was thick with the savory, smoky scent of charred meat and cumin.Donald watched Ethan out of the corner of his eye as the older man casually ordered a round of skewers and two cold beers. The way Ethan moved; the absolute stillness in his posture, the lack of hesitation in his eyes, bothered Donald. It wasn't the behavior of a man who had been living on the streets."Ethan," Donald started, leaning his elbows on the greasy table. "I’ve been holding this back since this morning, but I can't keep it in anymore. Who are you, really? What exactly is your identity now?"Ethan didn't look up as he cracked open a beer. "I'm Ethan Vale. Your classmate and your brother." He said casually."Don't give me that," Donald pressed, his voice dropping into a serious, suspenseful tone. "I saw how you handled Jimmy
