Chapter 1

1. The Disaster of Death That Became a Blessing

"It’s impossible that I will die, right?" Yuan Bei tightly clenched his jaw, his face showing signs of fear as he fled from the pursuit of a fierce beast.

Seeing the tiger’s steps getting closer, Yuan Bei, unable to do anything, chose to enter an ancient cave in front of him. But to his surprise, the tiger continued to follow him.

"I can't... There’s no way out," his body trembled as the sharp fangs of the tiger came into view before his eyes.

"Mom... Dad, Yuan Bei is truly unfilial, a worthless child like me has such a terrible fate... Please forgive me." Closing his eyes in resignation, the tiger leapt toward him.

BAM!

But strangely, Yuan Bei only felt his body being pushed and then crashing into something hard. When he opened his eyes again, his vision blurred, and black and golden smoke billowed from an ancient stone that had accidentally shattered upon striking Yuan Bei’s body.

The tiger, wanting to toy with its prey, shook its body. As it prepared to pounce, an explosion of energy spread, followed by the destruction of the tiger's body.

BOOM!

The event happened so quickly, but Yuan Bei didn't realize it. Instead, he felt a pain unlike anything he had ever felt before.

"Ahhh!"

His blood seemed to be boiling, and the sound of bones cracking within his body rang in his ears. This intense pain continued for some time.

"W-what is happening to me? This pain..." Rolling on the ground, Yuan Bei didn’t understand what was happening to his body.

However, inside his body, his meridians—those once considered defective—suddenly began to connect. Yuan Bei didn’t realize it at all, and the pain had left him helpless, lying on the ground.

Five hours later.

He regained consciousness, as though nothing had happened, and tried to rise. He felt lighter than ever before and could sense the natural Qi energy enveloping his body.

"Warm and gentle." This expression was something Yuan Bei didn’t realize as he had now understood the basics of Qi energy.

Swuuuuuuung!

However, another surprising event occurred. The pain in his body had ceased, but now it transferred to his head.

"Akkkh!" He screamed inside the ancient cave.

The pain suddenly began to subside. Strangely, in his mind, he received vast knowledge about the Cultivator world. From combat techniques, alchemist knowledge, to even the fundamental stages of cultivation.

"Where is this knowledge coming from?"

He received no clear answer, until suddenly, the roar of a tiger echoed through the cave.

Groooooooarh!

"Damn..."

Hearing the sound of the tiger’s steps approaching deeper into the cave, Yuan Bei's expression grew worse. Soon, a tiger appeared clearly before his eyes.

"Is my fate truly this bad?!" Yuan Bei shouted, which made the tiger leap and swipe its claws at him.

BOOM!

But when Yuan Bei closed his eyes again, a golden-red fireball shot out from his body. The fireball instantly destroyed the tiger’s body with a single sweep.

"Why is my fate so miserable! I ended up with a master who doesn’t understand anything about the Cultivator world! Even unable to face a beast!" A young girl's voice echoed in the cave.

Startled, Yuan Bei opened his eyes. He looked around for the source of the voice, but saw no one, except for a black and golden fireball floating in front of him.

"Who are you looking for?"

Yuan Bei, who was already terrified, began to sweat coldly.

"Tchh! Tchhh! Damn it, I really met someone like you... Now how am I supposed to show you the true nature of this fire..." The fireball spoke dismissively.

"What do you mean?"

"You should be proud. Not only did you get me as a destined partner, but you also possess the knowledge of the Dragon Emperor from the past! But seeing your stupidity, I’m truly disappointed!"

Yuan Bei paused, processing the words, and then suddenly, a memory flashed in his mind. This memory was none other than the tragic event that led him to become a useless person who couldn’t cultivate.

"My parents sacrificed themselves so that I could live well... If that event hadn’t happened, I would’ve become a Cultivator like everyone else! Do you know how hard I’ve tried to recover my damaged meridians? But until now..." Frustrated by being belittled, Yuan Bei responded with many curses at the fireball.

"Didn't I just reconnect your meridians?"

"Really?"

"Just check for yourself, but you don’t know anything... Use the knowledge left by the Dragon Emperor to guide yourself!" The fireball replied, clearly irritated.

Yuan Bei tried to follow the strange fireball’s instructions. He fell silent, contemplating how to examine his meridian condition inside his body.

"Why? You've figured it out, but you still can't use it? Never mind, anyway, there are plenty of wild beasts in this forest that could kill you... So I’ll just wait for a powerful person who can properly use the Heart of the Dragon Flame."

Swuuuuush!

The fire known as the Heart of the Dragon suddenly entered Yuan Bei’s body on its own. Although startled, this made him snap out of his daze.

"My meridians have really healed..."

Realizing that when a Cultivator could feel the energy of Qi, it meant they could cultivate. A look of happiness appeared on Yuan Bei's face. His hope for revenge surged as he recalled how his parents had been killed before his eyes.
