CHAPTER FOUR : SLUSH FUND

" What is happening here Davis?" Henry brown asked his younger brother Davis over the issue going round Kandon. He had to rush to his brother's office to find out what was going on when he heard of it.

Davis was invited by the state prosecution for creating a slush fund account under a paper company siphoning a massive amount of company money into an overseas account. Someone actually exposed him with evidences which shows that he really did so, and even the media are not helping matters as they also reported the news which is affecting the company's stocks.

" It's really nothing bro,it is a setup by those who wish to get rid of this great company,"Davis said.

" I will take your word for that. Let us say you were wrongfully accused for a crime you know nothing about. It has not been up to a year that the issue of one of your staff was reported to have committed suicide here at this company that someone went to instigate another crime on you." Henry said to his brother because he's really worried as to why the person would devise such a lie on Davis for money laundering, so he believed.

" So what are you going to do right now?" Henry asked his brother.

" I don't really know,it may be someone who is against me since the person knows that both of us are close. But not to worry, I will take care of this issue as fast as possible because I heard the rumor has been affecting the company stocks,"Davis said to his brother with assurance.

" Okay if you say so, but keep me informed on whatever is going on so that I will know how I'm going to assist you in sorting it out", he said and left the office.He has a meeting in the afternoon and thus came immediately to his brother's office to find out what really happened.

The Brown empire was founded by Chairman Wright Brown the father to Henry brown and his other siblings. The man started with a small scale business and from there,rose to establish a company which has almost ventured into all the sectors that deals with human resources.

The Brown empire has been known for ages as one of the greatest and biggest conglomerates that dominated the city of Kandon( The righteous City). They are quite respected in the city and even beyond for their achievements in the various sectors of the economy they've ventured into and also for generating revenue for kandon.

Chairman Wright as he was popularly called was quite ambitious and therefore sacrificed a lot of things just to keep the company even at the expense of his health.

He could sacrifice his family's happiness just to please the company and was known for regularly saying that " My company is my home, therefore I can't desert my home."

This was also confirmed with the way he decided the spouses for his children just to enhance the progress of Brown group of companies.

Henry got married to Precilia the daughter of a politician,Davis Brown got married to Blessing the only daughter of the founder of KAND media, Victory got married to Fate the daughter of a businessman and his only daughter Kate got married to Bryan the son to the president of Conrad bank.

It is only Alex that succeeded in getting married to his choice of woman and this his father consented to after a lot of disagreement.He later died from stroke at the age of eighty and since then, his children had been the one taking care of the company personally since his demise.

His wife Stella Brown gave birth to five children (four males and a female) before her demise for him and left them for he to raise them before she died. They are Alex( the first child), followed by Henry (the second of them), Davis (the third born), Victory (The fourth of them) and the last of them and the only female Kate Brown.

They were all made managing director of the various branches of the Brown empire which include Brown Electricity, Brown Hotels, Brown Hospitals, Brown pharmaceuticals and so on.

Davis Brown was appointed as the managing director of Brown Electricity,Kate Brown was made the managing director of Brown Hotels, Victory Brown was made the managing director of Brown Pharmaceutical company. They were appointed to this position before the death of their father. While other branches of Brown empire was administered by the chairman.

Henry Brown was appointed the Chairman of Brown group of companies after the death of their brother Alex Brown who was murdered in cold blood. He then became the Chairman after his death. They tried their best in finding out who killed him but because those who murdered Alex didn't leave any form of incriminating evidences, they could not do that.

Among the Children, Davis Brown and his younger brother Victory Brown are regarded as the wicked, terror and most cruel of them all.

This title they earned since the time their father was alive and even after his death still known as. It is also as if they are the only ones people are watching,as they are always the one in the news for one bad thing or the other especially Davis Brown. That is why he's regarded as the " black sheep" among the family.

" Make sure you find out who leaked this information to the prosecution!, Davis ordered his personal assistance,Fem. The slush fund account was done in secret and therefore he could not think of who could actually do that. No matter who the person is, I will deal with him for putting me in this predicament". He said to his personal assistant who he called after his brother left his office.

" I will do that Sir, I have started work on that and will get to the end of it Sir", he said to his boss Davis.

" Good,we need to look for a way to shut the prosecution up and divert their attention to another case" He said as he believes that if they continued to look into the slush fund account, they were going to find out about some other hidden information.

" Ok sir, what of if we unveil the corruption of the prosecutor General? That will at least, divert their attention for a while, and give us the time to clear the slush fund account and transfer it to another account", his personal assistant said.

" You can do that it will serve as a big lesson to the man. I've been trying to get him to close the case but he has not been answering. I know he's trying to avoid me so as not to be implicated but I will use this to teach him not to backstab people as he like. Davis said smiling mischievously.

" Also, make sure you are as discreet as possible. The Chairman (Henry) must not notice anything because he believes that I am truly innocent of the charges.

" Noted Sir, I will make sure he does not find out". His personal assistant said and then left the office to begin the work given to him by his boss.

" What is the meaning of this?" The prosecutor General asked Davis after his corruption scandal was revealed to the public.

" I don't know what you're talking about", Davis said feigning ignorance of what he's saying.

" Come on stop the pretense!! We all know it's a way to divert the prosecution from going further looking into your case while you use that oppourtunity to destroy some documents that will implicate you," the man said to him.

" Wow that's good,no wonder you're the prosecutor General. Don't let me waste your time as I'm also quite busy at the moment. Why did you start avoiding me since the time this allegation was made against me?" He asked the prosecutor General.

" I was not avoiding you, was just busy handling some matters," he said.

" But you were not busy when it had to do with you collecting money from me?" Davis asked further.

" I'm sorry, it won't happen ever again I promise" the man said bitterly.

" This would be your last warning as the next time you try it you will meet yourself in prison", Davis threatened him.

" Yes I promised,it won't repeat itself", the prosecutor General said.

" I have a meeting right now so let me give you an advice. The only way out of this is for you to close my case as fast as possible then I will also order them to erase all forms of corruption charges levied against you in all the various sites posted to". Davis said to him smiling mischievously.

" If that is what you want, I will do just that while you also play your role". The prosecutor General said and cut the call.

" Stupid old man, do you think I would be giving you that kind of money for free without you doing anything to compensate me for that", Davis said to himself and started laughing.

"Let's see how he's going to close the case hahaha hahaha" he said laughing.

He was still acting like this when his younger brother Victory entered his office. Victory inherited his character from his elder brother Davis, and therefore behave like him. Although,he still behave innocently sometimes while his brother Davis does not in any way do that.

" Bro, did the prosecutor later call you?" He asked as he was updated time to time with what was going on by Davis.

" Just now and I gave him the condition that he should close my case then I will stop the rumor and erase any implicating item", Davis said to his brother.

" That is great and deserves to be celebrated. Bro let's go and celebrate this at "Mandon".

Mandon is like a club where the rich party and entertain themselves. It is a well know place in Kandon and it's a regular place for Davis and Victory.

Although they are married, they've not abandoned the kind of life they were use to before marriage hence, they still spend their leasure time at Mandon where they enjoy as they are regarded as the VIP of Mandon.

" I thought you said you're having dinner with your father-in-law", Davis asked.

" Yes I said so but I've already called him and told him that I would be busy at the office tonight and therefore won't be able to come, therefore my wife and our kid should go". Victory said to Davis smiling.

" You've started again,then let's start going since we don't even have anything doing". Davis said and stood up as he always enjoy himself whenever he goes to Mandon.

Somewhere in a big dark room almost like a dungeon. Three big men sit down to discuss somethings which are troubling them.Although a feeling of disappointment filled the room and their faces showed that of people not satisfied with what is happening.

" That Davis was able to avoid going to jail,so painful" the first person said to his other partners.

" I thought you said there is no way he could escape since you met with the prosecutor General,or what really happened?" The second voice asked

" He had evidences of the prosecutor General committing some atrocities like pictures of him sleeping with young girls and receiving bribes. This he used in making a deal with the prosecutor General". The first person explained to them.

" If he escaped this one because he was lucky,he won't be able to escape the next one". The third person assured them smiling mischievously.

" Don't forget our deal, you know the time to fulfill it is already near." The second person said the first as he is beside him.

" How can I ever forget the deal that made me what I am today". The first assured the second person

" That is alright,we would rule Kandon all our lives", The third person said to them and started laughing Haaaaaaahaaa Haaaaaaahaaa Haaaaaaahaaa
