Insulted

A lot? Adair thought it was ridiculous. How could one have a lot of sisters?

Even if there was really someone who had a lot of sisters, he should've heard about it somehow.

The woman who had been looking at him the whole time took out her phone and moved closer to him. "Let's add each other."

Adair exited his messaging app and went ahead to add her. Seconds later, he saw a notification and realized he had been added to a group.

Sister: Let's welcome Adair back.

The group which had been silent earlier suddenly got flooded with numerous messages.

FieryHeart: You're welcome, Adair. You can come to me in the future if you face any difficulty.

ShinyDiamond: You're welcome, Adair. You are also free to come to me if you face any difficulty in the future.

Similar messages also dropped. There were so many that he couldn't stop trying to read them but before he left his messaging app, he realized 90 percent of the group members were women.

"You're free to come to us if you face any difficulty in the future. Just like they've said, we'll all be happy to help you." Said the woman who he realized had been staring at him the whole time.

"You're also free to find your wives amongst us."

Adair choked on his saliva and couldn't help laughing. He walked into the hospital afterward while Sister parked her car probably.

"Take her very far from here!" The crisp voice of the doctor was the first thing Adair heard as soon as he stepped into the hospital.

He raised his head to notice everyone seemed to be looking at something with an amused look in their eyes. But none stepped forward to do anything.

"No..please..." A weak voice, which he couldn't mistake, pleaded. Anyone could tell the voice belonged to a sick child and yet no one stepped forward to help.

Adair quickly slipped his phone into his pocket and ran towards the direction of the voice where he saw a security man manhandling his sister.

Without thinking, he rushed towards him, grabbed Halsey gently and shoved him to the ground. The strength had come out of nowhere.

The security man who couldn't shoulder the shame of being pushed to the ground by a boy who looked no less than 18, hastily got up and raised his baton when a cold voice stopped him.

"And what do you think you're about to do?" Adair glanced behind him to see Sister walking towards him.

Dr. Hayes didn't care who she was as she didn't look like any famous person that he knew. So he ignored her and spoke harshly to the security man who still had his hand held up in agitation.

"Be quick and get rid of these eyesores. Hit them if they show any resistance."

"Why exactly are you chasing us away?" Adair, whose eyes had gone cold, asked. The temperature in the room also dropped.

"Because I can't afford to waste more beds on your half-dead sister. You can't afford the hospital bills, then take her home to die." Dr. Hayes seethed in righteous indignation.

With every word he said, Adair's eyes darkened the more.

"What if I told you I have enough money to pay for the surgery and offset my former debts?"

There was no need hiding the disgust he felt towards Adair. Hence, Dr. Hayes didn't bother sugarcoating his next words.

"Even I haven't gotten upto 200 million. Saying you have it is simply a wishful thinking you have. Now take your half-dead sister and scram!"

"Then shall we make a bet?" Adair asked, raising his eyes to meet with Dr. Hayes, something in it looking murderous. "Do you accept to kowtow ten times and call me Daddy if I really have more than 200 million in my account?"

Dr. Hayes laughed haughtily. Something in him told him to hold back but for the past few weeks, he knew how poor Adair was. The boy and his sister couldn't even afford a simple meal. Even the clothes he wore weren't the kind of clothes one with such a massive amount would dare to wear.

In his opinion, Adair was simply bluffing and he couldn't wait to see the boy embarrass himself.

"I will even resign as a doctor in this hospital. Just show us the money."

Something flickered in Adairs eyes but he said nothing. There were more than twenty people around, so he was assured Dr. Hayes wouldn't go back on his words.

He stabled Halsey firmly with one hand while the other slipped into his pocket and took out his phone. He opened his banking app where the balance glared at whoever looked at it.

He walked towards Dr. Hayes but before he passed the phone to him, he called out to three people closeby.

When they came closer, he brightened his phone's screen and gasps of disbelief flew out of their mouth.

Dr. Hayes stared at the amount for a considerable amount of time but scoffed seconds later. He simply couldn't believe it and chose to believe Adair had done something to alter his actual account balance.

"There's an app that does this. Admit you altered your account balance!" He yelled, glaring daggers at Adair.

Adair was speechless. The man was simply shameless. But he ignored the doctor and slipped his phone into his pocket once again.

"I've kept to my own end of the deal, now do yours. Kowtow ten times to me and resign from this hospital."

Almost immediately, everyone's eyes darted towards Dr. Hayes who refused to believe Adair could have such a huge amount in his account balance.

"Adair kept to his own end of the deal, it's only befitting you do same." Sister said and a few of the people around concurred.

However, the very next moment, Dr. Hayes scoffed, "It was just a deal to a low commoner. It doesn't matter."

"If this matter gets to the press, your reputation as a respectable doctor will go down the drain, Dr. Hayes." Someone from the crowd said but a glare from Dr. Hayes sent him disappearing into the crowd.

Most of the people in this part of the hospital weren't influential enough to tell Dr. Hayes what to do. So he planned on threatening them to keep shut then he'd dismiss the matter.

He turned to Adair and flashed an insincere smile, "Since you have the money for the surgery to go on. Then I suggest we shouldn't waste any more time."

He tried to touch Adair's shoulder but he took a step backward which left Dr. Hayes hand hanging on midair. Embarrassed, Dr. Hayes brought down his hand, anger flashing past his eyes.

"A deal is a deal. Not keeping to something as small as this means you can't be trusted to make an important deal with it." Adair said with a frown.

Dr. Hayes thought Adair was beginning to feel important. How could he lay down his position in the hospital, a position hundreds of doctors envied because of a stupid bet he made with a kid.

Sister's eyes narrowed coldly as she already guessed his thought. Just then, a middle-aged man came scrambling right into their midst.

Upon recognizing him, Dr. Hayes ran to him and shamelessly said, "It's a good thing you're here, Mr. Morton. This young boy and his sister have been staying in this hospital for the past two weeks. But now that he has gotten the right amount for the surgery, he has refused to pay."

Everyone who had been watching the show from the beginning and knew everything which had happened, was dumbfounded.

How Dr. Hayes had quickly turned the matter to favor him was something they termed as shameless but none of them could expose him for fear of being targeted.

However, the middle-aged man, Eddie Morton, the head doctor of the hospital, didn't act like he heard him.

He had been in his office tending to some matters via zoom conference call when he received a call from the board of directors that the hospital and position he so cherished was about to be taken out of his hands because someone even they couldn't afford to offend had been offended.

Eddie had never been contacted by any of the directors directly other than through their assistants. Hence when he received the call, he knew the matter was way above him and delaying was dangerous.

His eyes soon settled on Sister who refused to look at him and he shuddered. Dr. Hayes, who hadn't gotten the hint to stay quiet, followed his eyes until they settled on Sister.

Without thinking, he said, "She came along with them. I strongly believe they are fraudsters..."

With long strides, Eddie stopped in front of Sister and bowed so hard that his head almost touched his knees. "I had no idea you were coming, Boss. Please, accept my apologies."

The entire room suddenly stilled and Dr. Hayes suddenly felt extremely hot.
