Ravan’s vision went black the moment the headset activated.

A second passed. Then the system came online.

Beep… Beep… Beep…

System booted. Welcome to Divine Epoch Online.

The scan started immediately.

Ding! Physical scan initiated.

Something moved through the body from the crown of his head down to his feet. Not spiritual sense exactly, but close enough that he understood what it was doing. The game was reading the body before it built the character.

He waited.

Ding! Because your Constitution is strong, you have been given an HP boost!

Ding! Because your Physical Strength is strong, you have been given an Attack boost!

Ding! Because your body control is strong, you have been given an Agility boost!

Ding! Because your body has exceeded starting parameters, parameters for your character have been increased!

Ravan read the alerts.

So the Dark Demon Physique had affected the scan.

The game rewarded the real body’s condition. That was useful to know.

Then one more alert appeared.

Ding! You have acquired a passive skill!

Breaker of Limits

Passive Skill — Level: MAXED — Rank: S

Allows the player to surpass normal system parameters when the user’s condition, body, or growth exceeds what the game normally permits.

Ravan looked at it for a moment.

He had not expected to gain a skill before even selecting a class.

He kept that in mind and closed the window.

His base character window appeared.

Name: Pending

EXP: 0/100

Level: 1 — Stat Points: 0

Title: None

Class: None

HP: 180/180

Energy: 120

ATK: 30

DEF: 18

AGI: 22

MAG: 0

Gear Equipped: None

Skills:

Breaker of Limits (Passive) — MAXED (S Rank)

Inventory: Gold: 0 Silver: 0 Bronze: 50

Fame: World Fame: 0

The numbers were well above a normal beginner’s starting line. Ravan was not satisfied with them, but for a starting point they were workable.

The system prompted him.

Please enter your character name.

“Ravan.”

Ding! Character name accepted.

The class selection screen opened next. Eight panels spread out in front of him.

Warrior — War Temple

Knight — Sacred Shield Order

Rogue — Shadow Pact

Archer — Wind Sanctum

Mage — Arcane Tower

Cleric — Light Church

Monk — Iron Fist Order

Summoner — Beast Covenant

Around him, other new players were making their picks. Their voices cut through the white space.

“Warrior. Safe, tanky, good early.”

“I’m going Cleric. Healers print money in the first month.”

“Shadow Pact looks broken already. Rogue for me.”

“Don’t pick anything weird on launch day. You’ll be stuck with it.”

Ravan read through the panels.

Every class drew its power from somewhere outside itself. Temple. Order. Pact. Church. Covenant. Different names. Same idea.

He needed something that moved fast and earned faster. He chose Warrior.

Ding! You have selected Warrior!

Ding! Integrating War Temple’s Boon…

A warm golden light formed around him and pressed toward the body.

It stopped.

The light flickered once, broke apart, and scattered.

The players nearby went quiet for a second.

“Did that just fail?”

“His boon glitched?”

“Is that even possible on character creation?”

Ding! Boon integration failed!

Ding! Class selection error!

Ding! Recalculating…

The eight panels disappeared. The white space held empty for a moment.

Then a single new panel appeared.

Blood Asura

Hidden Class — Unaffiliated

The Asura dominates the battlefield without relying on boons from the gods.

Class Traits:

— Selfcreated technique registration enabled.

— Divine boon compatibility reduced.

— Standard divine progression unavailable.

Ravan read it once.

“Not bad.”

He selected it.

Ding! Blood Asura confirmed!

The white space dissolved. A short cutscene played — mountains, forests, ruined temples, cities spread across wide plains, monsters moving through open terrain, and players already scattering in every direction. It lasted a few seconds and then cut out.

Ravan opened his eyes in a small beginner village.

The streets were full of new players. Some were already running. Some stood in clusters reading tooltips. Two near the fountain were already arguing about something. Class instructors stood at different points across the village, each with a crowd gathering around them.

“Warriors, over here!”

“Mages, this way!”

“Clerics, gather by the chapel!”

“Rogues, west yard!”

Ravan checked his class guidance.

Class Instructor: None.

Blood Asura does not follow a divine instruction path.

A player nearby slowed when he noticed Ravan standing without a class marker.

“Where’s your instructor?”

Another looked over and laughed. “No instructor? That’s rough.”

“Maybe he picked a bugged class.”

“Reroll while you still can, bro.”

They kept moving toward their own instructors.

Ravan ignored them and opened the tutorial objective.

Ding! Blood Asura Tutorial has started!

Objective: Create or demonstrate one Arank combat technique.

Failure Condition: Unable to create or demonstrate one Arank combat technique within the tutorial period.

Rewards: EXP, Skill Point, World Fame, movement skill, and class weapon.

Ravan read the objective once.

For most players, the requirement was impossible.

For him, it was only inconvenient.

He closed the window and turned toward the training yard at the far end of the village.

Everyone else went to an instructor.

Ravan went to the training yard alone.
