He walked to the weapon rack and picked up a practice sword. He swung it once slowly. Light, dull, badly balanced. He adjusted his grip and turned to face the dummy. He did not move immediately. Wrist. Shoulder. Footwork. Breathing. The body was still weak in places, but it responded well enough. He raised the sword.
