Chapter 7: The Devil sides with the Angel?.

“ Unlike you..., I for one I'm not as short sighted nor cowardly.., Speaking of a hundred million dollars, if I had even more capital, then even a billion dollars wouldn't be out of reach. I'm sorry old man but you simply can't compare." Antonio tapped Nicholas's chest before taking a step back and grinning ever so mockingly.

" Antonio.... " Natasha suddenly spoke up, She stared at Antonio with an irritated expression, even she didn't expect him to behave in such a way. She expected him to be civil and complacent after having saved his life, not daring to go face to face with the tigers father within his own mountain.

" So this is what you've brought into this household, Natasha‽. A child who has no regards for his seniors‽ " Nicholas suddenly shifted his attention towards Natasha. Natasha was at a loss if what to say, before she could even speak, Antonio cut her off.

" Regard for my seniors?, listen here old man, The only people I respect are those who earn it, not self condescending peach boys like you who were born with a golden spoon. " Antonio cocked a brow with both hands in his pockets, looking no different than an unruly ruffian.

Nicholas’s eyes hardened, the smirk fading from his lips. “Watch your mouth kid! ” he said, his voice dropping to a dangerous tone as he began taking short strides towards Antonio, An ominous aura surrounding him.

“You’re not even in the same league as me, What gives you the right to talk to me as if we're on the same level!. You and I are world's apart!.” He rebuked when he was finally face to face with Antonio, The both of them stood only a few centimeters apart, His ferocious eyes staring into Antonio's calm and serene ones.

“Nicholas that's enough,” Just when it seemed like the both of them were about to brawl, Nelson suddenly intervened, his tone cordial but firm. “And you as well Antonio. The both of you should stop this bickering at once....”

“Yes..., Father,” Nicholas replied, Although a bit reluctant yet his voice still carried a hint of reverence. When he saw his father-in-law suddenly walking over, He stepped aside, allowing Nelson to approach Antonio.

Nelson’s eyes met Antonio’s, and the concern in them was palpable. “Antonio, listen to me. This bet, it’s unnecessary. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone, least of all to Nicholas.” His voice was gentle, with hints of pleading, as he placed a hand on Antonio’s shoulder.

Nicholas who heard him felt the urge to vomit blood in anger at the moment. Just what was so special about this damned street wretch that his own father-in-law would be willing to waste so much time on him, Even him, who was his own son-in-law had never received such attention before.

---

Antonio shook his head, his gaze unwavering as he gently used his right hand to remove the tycoons hand from his shoulder before clasping it with both hands. “ I appreciate your concern sir, but in truth really, This was never about proving something to him."

" What do you mean? " Nelson felt confused, his aged face looking a bit muddled.

" I simply wanted to prove something to myself that's all, I'm not one to get into arguments easily, not to mention picking a fight with someone I should be treating as my own father-in-law " Antonio smiled cheekily whilst eyeing Nicholas from the corner of his eyes. Like he expected, The latter Revealed a look of disdain, not in the least bit accepting of his word's

Nicholas watched the exchange in silence, his expression inscrutable. He had no desire to interfere in this moment between grandfather and aspiring grandson-in-law, especially when it was clear that Nelson was trying to protect Antonio from himself.

Nelson sighed, looking as though the weight of the world were pressing down on him. “ You really are as remarkable as I expected, However, it's still too rash to decide on something so uncertain. "

" The both of you should just call this off. I'm sure Nicholas will understand. Right Nicholas? " Grandpa Nelson said while turning to glance at Nicholas.

Natasha's father who sensed his father-in-law's warning gaze felt even more irritated, He wanted to retort but on second thought he decided to begrudgingly swallow back his words. He had already Angered the old man by behaving in such an uncouth manner earlier, if he were to resist right now then he would only make him even more irritated, And doing so just because of a moments irritation was undoubtedly foolish.

“I will,” Nicholas finally said after some deliberation, his tone softer now. “If that’s what you want father..., we can forget this whole thing ever happened.” he said with a smile which looked a tad too forced.

Nelson nodded in approval, Although he knew his son-in-law wasn't really all that reluctant but who cared, at least now his grandson was safe, or so he thought.

Unfortunately for him, Antonio was a resolute person to begin with.

“ Forgive me dear Grandfather, but I have no intentions of steeping down now.” instead of backing down, he opted to go on with the challenge, his mesmerizing eyes glancing back at Nicholas yet this time Nicholas couldn't help but notice a brief flash of mockery in them which caused his blood to boil in frustration.

Nelson opened his mouth to argue further, but a quiet voice interrupted him.

“ Grandpa, Since he keeps insisting, Why not just let him do it.”

All three men who had been conversing, suddenly turned towards the doorway, where Natasha stood, her figure framed by the dim light of the corridor. Her expression was calm, almost serene, but her eyes were sharp, focused entirely on Antonio. She had been planning on leaving while they we're talking yet when she saw how Antonio kept on insisting, She quickly stopped in her track's.

“Natasha, this isn’t—” Nelson began, but Natasha cut him off with a gentle raise of her hand.

“ Grandpa, He's not a child, Antonio has the right to make his own decisions,” she said, stepping into the room. “Since he says it’s not about proving himself to you, Father, or to me, I say we let him be. "
