Everyone stared at Damien, puzzled. Apparently, he sounded like someone who had lost his sense of reasoning or perhaps he had bumped his head off somewhere and could no longer think properly with his brain.

At least if his brain was that useless, his eyes should be able to see that the patient who was lying in the bed was no longer breathing and had become so pale that even at a first glance, one would be able to tell he was dead.

But in Damien's case, that didn’t seem to be it. Unless, he was trying to add more salt to the wound, deliberately.

Moses began to fume in rage. His chest was heaving as though he was being pumped with so much anger and hatred and would soon unleash it upon Damien ruthlessly.

“Damien, I don’t know what you are trying to prove, but you should just stay put and keep shut!”

Aria immediately pulled Damien forcefully to the back. She had a feeling that he would bring nothing but trouble the moment she saw him; that was why she had been looking at him like he was nothing but an eyesore.

He had just proven her to be even worse. He didn’t know how to read the room and was hellbent on making things even worse for Maya. She had the urge to bundle him up and throw him out at once. For someone who had no medical knowledge but looked like riffraff, he did have some balls to put up a bold front.

He might not know this, but Moses was the richest man in the city. The man could crush almost anyone. That was why Maya was so lost in thought and looked so frightened, even though she had always had the traits of an Alpha female.

Did Damien have to make things worse?

“Let go!” Damien shrugged her off before turning back to Moses.

He was displeased by Aria's actions, but he didn’t have the time to reprimand her. He could only shun her for now.

“You!” Aria wanted to push further and intercept him, but Maya waved her not to.

She was curious as to what Damien was up to. If the man were useless, her grandfather wouldn't have asked him to be her bodyguard. There might be something he had seen that no one had yet. Even though it didn’t make sense as she thought about it, she had no choice but to place a bet on him.

And of course, she was risking all odds.

“So, what will you do if your son isn’t dead?” Damien looked directly into Moses' eyes as he continued.

“Kid, you should have taken her warning. I swear I will—“ Moses was on the verge of losing himself.

“I am serious. Why don’t we make a bet?” Damien cut him off with a mysterious smile on his face.

The confidence, the expression, though it was bold, made Moses feel that perhaps he could indulge him for now and use him as a scapegoat to set up an example. After all, he could use him as a starting point to vent his anger before going ahead to trample Maya.

“Okay, I’ll indulge you.” He calmed his anger down and smiled. “Go on,” he gave Damien the go-ahead.

“Here’s the take: if I can prove your son is still alive, you will apologize to Maya, and also, you will invest in her company.” Damien began.

A vicious glint immediately flashed inside Moses' eyes.

“And if you can’t?” He countered.

However, Damien chuckled lightly. “Don’t worry, I have already assured you. I just want you to give me your word.”

Moses looked over at Maya and Aria, who were just as stunned, proving all this wasn’t staged, and it seemed Damien was acting of his own accord.

Well, if what he said could be proven, then he had no reason not to try out what Damien suggested. After all, money wasn’t an issue. All he wanted was for his son to live.

“Okay, I accept!” Moses nodded with clenched fists. “I admire your confidence, honestly, but if all that you are doing is merely an act, you can forget leaving here alive!” He added shortly.

“You are welcome to try.” Damien smiled fearlessly.

Moses stared at him for a while before saying. “Go ahead. Do your thing!”

He moved to the side, giving Damien the platform to go ahead.

Damien didn’t waste any more time.

“Damien—“ Aria called out through gritted teeth, feeling this was all a mistake and the man was getting ahead of himself; yet, he ignored her and walked over to the patient on the bed with a serious expression on his face and took his hand into his to feel a pulse.

Maya didn’t say anything. For some reason, she had subconsciously put her faith in him. Besides, she was already clueless and hopeless about what to do. She wouldn't mind assistance from Damien. Either way, her company would be shut down and crushed after today.

Everyone kept watching as Damien conducted whatever he was doing. He now looked more like a doctor who was conducting tests on a patient while they were his students waiting to learn from his teachings.

After a while, he pulled off and turned to Maya.

“Can I see a sample of the drug?” He requested.

“What do you need it—“ Aria was done holding on to her patience. She wanted to refute him when Maya cut her off.

“Just do as he says. Go get it.”

Aria flashed a cold stare at Damien conveying so many unspoken words through her eyes before she turned and left.

Moments later, she returned with a drug and handed it to him.

Damien collected it and sniffed the container. Subsequently, a smile emerged on his face.

“Where is the trash bin?” He asked out of the blue.

“There!” One of the doctors who was silently watching and had been responsible for the patient previously spoke out.

He pointed at the other side of the bed. A small trash can was there with a couple of waste contents that had been used on the patient and disposed of.

Under the curious gaze of everyone, Damien walked over and dipped his hand into it, seemingly searching for something. At this point, no one could guess what he was up to.

Even Moses stared at the man with so much confusion in his eyes.

He felt the urge to say something, but considering that he had already admitted to giving Damien a chance, he remained put and waited. As for Maya, she was close to chewing her finger off nervously.

But of course Aria had a kind of look that meant she had seen this coming and had known the man was up to nothing substantial but had just been wasting their time.

If Moses decided to take it out on them, she would make sure he started with him first.

Meanwhile, Damien suddenly pulled out a syringe that still had a bit of content inside. It was the one used on the patient.

Without a word, he pulled a table over and laid them all out in front of everyone including the one Aria had brought over not long ago.

He looked at Moses in particular and asked.

“Would you like to see a magic trick?”

Smack!Damien then proceeded to drop a contract document on the table. No one on the other party except Joseph saw this coming. So that was the plan Damien had all along? To use the betting contract to force them into collaborating with Vantage Materials? “What's the meaning of this?” Donald's brow arched. “Are you pulling a stunt to save yourself or what?” He growled.“Why don't you ask your son? I'm sure he knows what I am talking about!” Damien shifted his gaze to Joseph. The latter shivered as soon as he became the subject of attention.“Dad…he….” Joseph had been thinking of lies to tell his father since yesterday. He didn't sleep, and dark circles formed around his eyes because of the pressure. He never expected Damien to come at them so soon. As he stood there, he began racking his head up; after a while, he thought of something and immediately spoke up.“Last night… I was drunk. He forced me to sign it.” He pointed at Damien as he lamented.“Force you? Did I force you to lose

Soon the three of them walked back into the company. Leo and Kai had just stepped out of the elevator, intending to head to a few departments to assign new tasks to the workers, when they saw the man they thought they had chased, walking back in.Kai frowned and wanted to curse when Leo stopped him. His face paled as he looked past Aiden to the young man walking behind him. Undoubtedly, that was the same person who had beaten Lily and Joseph in front of the company the other day, which had caused a huge stir on the internet and made their stock plummet. If the man was here, didn't that mean he had something planned? Also, he was with Aiden? What the heck was going on?“Why are you stopping me from cursing that bastard to death?” Kai complained in displeasure.“Look,” Leo leaned closer to him. “You see that man behind him,” he added, not daring to point at Damien, but at least he expected Kai to know who he was referring to.“You mean that kid?” Kai sized Damien up as he spoke when Le

Bang!Bang!Bang! In less than thirty seconds, twenty-five people were sprawled all around in the room, unconscious. Some had broken legs, some broken hands. In summary, they were all in overwhelming pain and as a result, they all passed out. The others, upon seeing this, didn't dare test the waters anymore. Their numbers didn't matter; Damien was a monster who couldn't be stopped. It didn't matter if they rushed at him like a tide; none of them were able to touch his clothes.Even a few men in suits Joseph had come with, thinking they could make a difference, could do nothing.Joseph had sunk back to his chair with crushing defeat in his chest. He couldn't speak a word to motivate the others to attack. They had all lost hope, and all he could see in their eyes was fear. He wasn't any different.Smiling, Damien walked back to where he was and picked up the contract document.“I guess we are done here.” He then looked toward the dealer. Without saying a word, the man knew what was nee

Bang!“Damn it! You cheated! I can swear it. Four games, and you won all. No one can be that lucky.” Joseph stood up and slapped the dice off the table in a fit of rage. His face had become uglier than before, just as Damien had anticipated. “Why did you cheat? That wasn’t the deal!” He pointed at Damien and sneered. Though he could cheat in roulette; all he had to do was ask the dealer to spin the wheel, but in chess, if it were someone else, he would have used his hand to flip the dice to his choice of numbers. But with Damien, he couldn’t dare to do such a thing.“I won. The contract has been signed too. Now I can leave. I do not want to keep playing anymore.” Damien nodded and stood up. He looked at the dealer before continuing.“Convert the cash to chips and send the money to me.” He instructed.“No!” Joseph suddenly bellowed. Damein looked at him only to see his face had contorted with both pain and despair. “We should keep playing!” He continued through gritted teeth. His h

  • A straight win!

“What are your terms? You go first.” Joseph said, intertwining his fingers as he leaned forward, staring at Damien intently.“It’s simple. If I win, you’ll have to do whatever I want.” Damien said nonchalantly.Besides, he knew Joseph wanted him to go first so he could gauge his terms, and if they were unfavorable to him and his family, he would easily call it off.On the other hand, Joseph expected something worse, but hearing what Damien said, it didn’t seem much of a big deal to him. Besides, there was no way Damien was going to win this time. He might have a chance with the roulette games, but when it came to rolling dice, Joseph had already begun to imagine himself winning the jackpot.“My terms are, you’ll give me double the winnings. I don’t mind if you don’t have money; you can call Maya to send some. She’s your accomplice, isn’t she?”He raised a brow at him as he spat.Damein remained calm. The brat wanted the jackpot of four hundred million dollars and another, totaling ei

  • A bet contract

“You…you are cheating, aren’t you?” Joseph roared out furiously with beet-red eyes. He never thought or expected the feeling of losing would be so hurtful. Even if he lost, he should have been able to control the situation, but with Damien, he felt like he was trapped in a box.“Cheating? Coming from someone like you?”Damien raised a brow at him. “Or are you so distressed about the money you just lost that you want to falsely accuse me instead? Come on, I thought the Beckham family had a lot of money? Don’t tell me you guys have gone broke after losing just this little to me.”His eyes narrowed intently even though he was deliberately trying to provoke the other party.Joseph was so close to losing himself. The makeup he put on to cover up his bruises was slowly falling off. If people saw the printed finger marks on his cheek and knowing Damien’s character, he would definitely use it to taunt him.He decided to calm himself down instead. Subsequently, he tried his best to put on a s
