Moments later, Damien arrived back at Vitalmeds. As he stood by the entrance, he thought about calling Maya to give him directions to her office, or if she could come down or send someone to come pick him up.

Just as the thought crossed his mind, he heard a familiar voice from up ahead.

“We need to hurry!”

He looked and saw it was Maya walking alongside someone else— a woman clad in a suit, both of them had a tough yet panicked expression still as they hurried off.

Damien couldn't help but wonder if she had yet to resolve what she was bothered about or not. Regardless, he approached them.

“Damien, you are back?” Maya caught a glance of him as they were about to take a turn into the parking lot.

She managed to squeeze out a smile as she looked at him while her assistant, Aria seized him up, wondering who he was.

“Yes, I'm back. I see you are heading somewhere.” Damien inquired.

“Ooh yes. You can wait around in the company until I'm back.” She suggested.

Afrerall, whatever business she was going to handle didn't actually require his presence. As much as it was serious, she would rather not burden him with it either.

“I don't mind. I'll drive.”

Damien insisted. Unfortunately, he wasn't here for a vacation but to stand by her and protect her. That was the promise he made to the old man so he had the intention of abandoning it.

Maya saw the look in his eyes and decided not to decline. Perhaps she might later need his help.

“Aria gets the car over so he can drive us there.” Maya turned to her assistant and instructed. They would be using the company car, and since Damien wasn't familiar with where it was, it was better to have Aria bring it over and Damien could drive them off.

Aria nodded, but her face darkened when she took another glance at Damien, wondering who he was to Maya and what his deal was all about. This was the first time she was seeing him, and already she could tell she had a bad impression of him.

He spoke like he didn't have any respect for Maya. Did he not know how powerful she was? Judging from his appearance, he didn't look like someone with a tough background.

People like him never knew how to know their place indeed. She felt the urge to condemn him but decided to postpone it for now.

She went on to bring the car. It didn't take long and soon, all of them hopped in. Damien took the front seat, while the two ladies sat in the back.

“Where are we headed?” He asked as soon as he placed his hand on the steering wheel.

“Starline Hospital,” Maya replied.

Hearing this, Damien's face darkened. The name did ring a bell. The hospital might be prestigious, but it was also the same hospital where his father was admitted years ago.

They cut off his treatment because the Beckham family asked them to.

Fortunately, he had actually been thinking of a way to destroy the hospital, but he had no proof or way either. But now that Maya wanted them to go there, he suddenly felt invested.

However, a thought popped into his head so he couldn't help but ask.

“Does your family own the company?” He had to be certain.

Maya was taken aback by the question and also how he spaced out after she gave out the address.

Then it dawned on her that he had a history with the hospital. It was the place where his father died after they cut off his treatments, intentionally.

After digging into Damien's background, she had found out about so many things.

“No it's not.” She shook her head as she spoke.

Damien felt relieved and wanted to kickstart the car when Aria scolded him.

“Can you just shut up and drive? Enough with the questions already.”

She had been noticing him and honestly, she had had enough. Why couldn't he just be a good driver instead of ranting off at such an important time?

Damien ignored her. He accelerated out of the premises and headed off in the direction of the hospital.

An hour later, they arrived. Throughout the drive, everyone embraced silence, as they all seemed to have a lot to ponder on in their heads.

Damien drove to the parking lot and parked the car. Shortly, both ladies hurried out.

Compared to them, he took his time as the place brought back sad memories. The building was classic with glass walls, expensive exterior designs, and constructive sections.

Maya and Aria went upstairs while Damien followed behind. They approached a VIP ward and hurried to get in.

Damien got to the door but looked around for a bit before walking in.

However, there was a man clad in a tuxedo suit pacing back and forth inside the ward. He had a stern, panicky look on his face when the door cracked open and he looked up to see Maya.

At once, his eyes turned icy.

Behind him, a woman was seated, holding the hand of a figure who was lying on the hospital bed, looking so pale that he had almost turned into a corpse. The machine that was supposed to give out a reading signifying life was in deep silence.

By the side, powerhouses in suits were lined up with gloomy faces, waiting. It felt like hope was lost but Maya's appearance seemed to have ignited something else.

Suddenly, the man with an icy stare stepped forward and said to Maya, “I will give you two choices. It's either you bring my son back to life or you can just follow him to the underworld. The choice is yours and be fast about it!” He sneered harshly.

Smack!Damien then proceeded to drop a contract document on the table. No one on the other party except Joseph saw this coming. So that was the plan Damien had all along? To use the betting contract to force them into collaborating with Vantage Materials? “What's the meaning of this?” Donald's brow arched. “Are you pulling a stunt to save yourself or what?” He growled.“Why don't you ask your son? I'm sure he knows what I am talking about!” Damien shifted his gaze to Joseph. The latter shivered as soon as he became the subject of attention.“Dad…he….” Joseph had been thinking of lies to tell his father since yesterday. He didn't sleep, and dark circles formed around his eyes because of the pressure. He never expected Damien to come at them so soon. As he stood there, he began racking his head up; after a while, he thought of something and immediately spoke up.“Last night… I was drunk. He forced me to sign it.” He pointed at Damien as he lamented.“Force you? Did I force you to lose

Soon the three of them walked back into the company. Leo and Kai had just stepped out of the elevator, intending to head to a few departments to assign new tasks to the workers, when they saw the man they thought they had chased, walking back in.Kai frowned and wanted to curse when Leo stopped him. His face paled as he looked past Aiden to the young man walking behind him. Undoubtedly, that was the same person who had beaten Lily and Joseph in front of the company the other day, which had caused a huge stir on the internet and made their stock plummet. If the man was here, didn't that mean he had something planned? Also, he was with Aiden? What the heck was going on?“Why are you stopping me from cursing that bastard to death?” Kai complained in displeasure.“Look,” Leo leaned closer to him. “You see that man behind him,” he added, not daring to point at Damien, but at least he expected Kai to know who he was referring to.“You mean that kid?” Kai sized Damien up as he spoke when Le

Bang!Bang!Bang! In less than thirty seconds, twenty-five people were sprawled all around in the room, unconscious. Some had broken legs, some broken hands. In summary, they were all in overwhelming pain and as a result, they all passed out. The others, upon seeing this, didn't dare test the waters anymore. Their numbers didn't matter; Damien was a monster who couldn't be stopped. It didn't matter if they rushed at him like a tide; none of them were able to touch his clothes.Even a few men in suits Joseph had come with, thinking they could make a difference, could do nothing.Joseph had sunk back to his chair with crushing defeat in his chest. He couldn't speak a word to motivate the others to attack. They had all lost hope, and all he could see in their eyes was fear. He wasn't any different.Smiling, Damien walked back to where he was and picked up the contract document.“I guess we are done here.” He then looked toward the dealer. Without saying a word, the man knew what was nee

Bang!“Damn it! You cheated! I can swear it. Four games, and you won all. No one can be that lucky.” Joseph stood up and slapped the dice off the table in a fit of rage. His face had become uglier than before, just as Damien had anticipated. “Why did you cheat? That wasn’t the deal!” He pointed at Damien and sneered. Though he could cheat in roulette; all he had to do was ask the dealer to spin the wheel, but in chess, if it were someone else, he would have used his hand to flip the dice to his choice of numbers. But with Damien, he couldn’t dare to do such a thing.“I won. The contract has been signed too. Now I can leave. I do not want to keep playing anymore.” Damien nodded and stood up. He looked at the dealer before continuing.“Convert the cash to chips and send the money to me.” He instructed.“No!” Joseph suddenly bellowed. Damein looked at him only to see his face had contorted with both pain and despair. “We should keep playing!” He continued through gritted teeth. His h

  • A straight win!

“What are your terms? You go first.” Joseph said, intertwining his fingers as he leaned forward, staring at Damien intently.“It’s simple. If I win, you’ll have to do whatever I want.” Damien said nonchalantly.Besides, he knew Joseph wanted him to go first so he could gauge his terms, and if they were unfavorable to him and his family, he would easily call it off.On the other hand, Joseph expected something worse, but hearing what Damien said, it didn’t seem much of a big deal to him. Besides, there was no way Damien was going to win this time. He might have a chance with the roulette games, but when it came to rolling dice, Joseph had already begun to imagine himself winning the jackpot.“My terms are, you’ll give me double the winnings. I don’t mind if you don’t have money; you can call Maya to send some. She’s your accomplice, isn’t she?”He raised a brow at him as he spat.Damein remained calm. The brat wanted the jackpot of four hundred million dollars and another, totaling ei

  • A bet contract

“You…you are cheating, aren’t you?” Joseph roared out furiously with beet-red eyes. He never thought or expected the feeling of losing would be so hurtful. Even if he lost, he should have been able to control the situation, but with Damien, he felt like he was trapped in a box.“Cheating? Coming from someone like you?”Damien raised a brow at him. “Or are you so distressed about the money you just lost that you want to falsely accuse me instead? Come on, I thought the Beckham family had a lot of money? Don’t tell me you guys have gone broke after losing just this little to me.”His eyes narrowed intently even though he was deliberately trying to provoke the other party.Joseph was so close to losing himself. The makeup he put on to cover up his bruises was slowly falling off. If people saw the printed finger marks on his cheek and knowing Damien’s character, he would definitely use it to taunt him.He decided to calm himself down instead. Subsequently, he tried his best to put on a s
