Chapter 1

Jamie sat outside of their home , His wife was outside the country for a business meeting, She had been pursuing her late father’s shares for a long time , Jamie and Leah had been married for 10 years, For this 10 years Jamie had struggled to make her and their son comfortable, He even dropped out of college to pay her own tuition fee. Just when she graduated her father died and his shares were stolen , Jamie had tried his best to help her get it back alongside her wealth and every other of her shares and assets.

“ Daddy ! Mummy is on Tv !” Austin was their five year old son, Jamie had left him in their living room trying to connect to his wife’s phone.

“ Really ! let’s see …” Jamie grabbed his son and they hurriedly rushed to the living room.

The Tv was on a new channel and a woman in her early thirties,She was curvy and her face was incredibly beautiful. She was dressed in a corporate wear, Her facial features were like a perfect work of art. She was leading a press conference and the headline was “ Daughter of Jameson company finally acquired 80% of her father’s shares and his properties as accumulated in his will”

“ Yes ! Finally ! We did it … We did it , Austin mummy is rich “ Jamie laughed twirling his son in joy , He had mixed feelings and emotions but he was happy for his wife , They both worked endlessly for this day and it was finally happening.

“ Daddy, Does it mean we are rich too ?” Austin asked the most vital question and Jamie smiled, He recalled all of his wife’s plan for them to manage the empire as a family business.

“ Austin… How about we go and speak to mummy and congratulate her first , How about that?” Jamie said hugging his little son and he chuckled and giggled .

Jamie stood watching his wife receive all the accolades, The news spread around the city . Leah was now the richest woman in the city, Jamie was so proud of her , immediately the news station tuned off , He picked up his phone to call Leah , He kept trying but her number wasn’t connecting neither was she picking up .

“ Hmmm… I guess she’s still busy “ Jamie drooped his phone , He made dinner for their son and lay him to bed . Jamie kept trying to call his wife and finally the call connected .

“ Babe ! Congratulations… I saw the news , I’m so excited for you “ Jamie said immediately the call connected .

“ Where is my son ?” Leah’s reaction was bland and cold , Jamie was shocked but he felt as though she was stressed .

“ Austin is fast asleep, We watched the news together…How do you feel ? Have you eaten ? Was it stressful?” Jamie asked and he got silence in return .

“ Honey ! Are you there ?”

“ When Austin wakes up tell him mummy is coming to get him tomorrow “ Leah said and se hung up . Jamie was taken aback by Leah’s sudden change of attitude.

Jamie couldn’t sleep that night he kept texting Leah to ask how she was feeling or what was wrong but she read and gave no reply , The next day he received a message that her flight was arriving the next day , He got Austin ready , prepared a welcoming dinner for his wife and they booked a taxi to the airport. Jamie and Austin waited for Leah with bouquets of flowers, Her Favourite chocolate, Austin also held a welcome home cardboard.

“ Is that mummy ?” Austin pointed, His eyes widened in shock . Jamie looked at the direction that he was pointing at and there she was . His wife was walking to their direction but she wasn’t alone, Two able bodied men dressed in black suit walked behind her , Leah was looking different too. She left the country with her cargo pants and sweatshirts but right now she was dressed in luxury.

“ Mummy!” Austin ran and gave her a hug and she lifted him up and gave him a kiss, Jamie let them have their mother and son moment before making his moves to hug her but to his surprise, The men stopped him .

“ Excuse me ? That’s my wife …” Jamie frowned and pushed their hands from grabbing him.

“ Let them do their job Jamie …” Leah rolled her eyes and Jamie looked at her in shock .

“ Am I not permitted to hug my wife ?” Jamie frowned.

“ Take care of him “ Leah grabbed her son and walked out.

“ What was that ?” Jamie clenched his fist .

“ She can’t be seen around with you … The press are everywhere and making physical contact with you will surely make it to the news and we don’t want that for our madame” The man replied and Jamie frowned , The man’s French accent annoyed and irritated Jamie but what he had just said didn’t make any sense to him .

“ Are you not aware that I am her husband?” Jamie said

“ We will see about that …” The other man said and they walked out .

Jamie was shocked , He couldn’t wrap his head around what was going on, He turned to where Leah was standing but she hoped in a limo with Austin and they drove off .

“ Leah … Leah …” Jamie shouted but the car didn’t stop , He flagged a taxi and he asked the taxi to follow the limo .

Jamie got to the house hoping to see Leah and Austin but no one was home .

“ Where are you ? “ Jamie texted Leah but she didn’t reply , Few minutes later he saw her call .

“ Jamie … A Limo is coming to get you , Follow it and let’s talk immediately..” She said and hung up .

“ Lea…” Jamie couldn’t even reply , He had no idea what was going on , All their years of marriage Leah had never treated him with so much disrespect or treated him so rudely .

Jamie peaked outside the window and he saw fleet of cars parked outside, A young lady was walking towards the door bell and he rushed outside to meet her .

“ Are you mr Jamie ?” The lady said and Jamie nodded .

“ Did Leah send you ?” Jamie asked and she ushered Jamie to the car , As the car accelerated Jamie looked outside the window lost in thought, He had just been embarrassed on his way to pick his wife up and now he was on a car with no idea where he was headed or whose car he was .

“ We are here !” She opened the car door for Jamie ,He looked outside and he was dumbfounded,He was standing in front of a magnificent penthouse, The interiors and exteriors of the house sparked with luxury.

“ This way …” She lead the way and Jamie followed, He had no idea what was going , His son ran to where he was and hugged him .

“ Austin…Wassup big guy “

“ Dad … This is our new home , Mummy said this is our new home , It’s beautiful “

“ Really , Do you like it ? “ Jamie asked

“ Yes …”

“ This way please …” The lady lead the way

“ Hold on , Daddy will be back “

Jamie followed the lady and they arrived in a office, Leah was sitting on a rotating chair, Immediately she heard the door screech open she turned to where Jamie was standing and their eyes met .

“ Leah what’s going on?”

“ Sign this …” Leah commanded,Leah placed the A4 people on the table, Jamie looked at it and he looked back at Leah.

“ A Divorce paper ?”

Jamie was shocked, He didn’t know to react.

“ Are you blind or is this some kind of pretense ?” Leah fired back with no pity in her voice .

“ Leah … i know what a divorce paper look like and I know one when I see one but what I do not understand is why we need to divorce “

“ Jamie …I know you saw the news right ? I am no longer that housewife that depends on her broke husband for income , I am now the most wealthiest woman in assest and shares in the industry, You and I are no longer in the same level “ She blurted and Jamie staggered back in shock .

“ Leah …What do you mean we are no longer in the same level , We have been married and lived happily for 10 years , We struggled to get you to this place together and all of a sudden I am no longer in your level ?”

“ Yes , That’s what it is … Come on think about it , I need to be married to someone that fits my status not someone like you , Let’s not drag Austin into this … Sign the paper, You can take the house we bought together for yourself…As you can see I do not need it anymore “ Leah said as she tied her bait in a bun .

“ So it is true that money and influence changes a person ?” Jamie stared at her in disbelief.

“ Jamie ! Jamie ! Stop it , All of the guilt trapping and emotional black mail stop all of it , Fine … Make a sum of everything you ever did for me and my financial secretary will refund “ Leah scoffed.

Jamie took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves because he was now tearing up.

“ Jamie … You are just a weaklin , Now look at you , Tears ? Really … Sign the paper and we can go our separate way “

“ Leah ! Have you forgotten what we have been through together, I’m in debt because of all I did for you , I sold properties to support your pursuit to wealth and this is what I get in return “ Jamie yelled and Leah stood up in annoyance.

“ Oh ! Shut it Jamie … What is this you are yapping about? Can’t you see who I am now , Sign this paper and thereafter I can pay you back everything you have done for me and even more” Leah slammed her hands on the desk with annoyance and after taking a deep breath , She gave Jamie a pen .

“ Sign here …”

“ I do not want your money , You will regret what you have done to me maybe not now but soon enough… What about Austin?” Jamie stuttered.

“ Austin ? The court will decide who gets to keep him but you know who it’s already going to be because with your debt hanging all over your neck and not a good source income to present to the court , I will gain custody of the child but I will see if we can co parent but that’s if my fiancé agree …” Leah dropped a bombshell and Jamie looked at her shocked .

“ You are getting married already ?”

“ Yes … To someone that matches my class “

Jamie smiled bitterly , He picked the pen and signed the papers and he turned to go .

“ What a loser !” Leah scoffed
