"Thomas, is that you?" She said with a face full of disgust, then turned to the man beside her. As soon as he heard her words, the man immediately reacted, pointing at Thomas and saying, "Do you know this loser?"

The one insulting Thomas was Cayden Erickson, a typical rich kid who flaunted his wealth and lived a lavish lifestyle. Thomas was also surprised to see Wendy Green. She gritted her teeth and said, "This idiot is my brother-in-law. He's just a poor guy dreaming of something he can't have."

Seeing Emily’s expression, Cayden quickly understood. This guy wasn't someone with money or power, and this was a perfect opportunity for him to impress the lady with a little show. Why not take advantage of it?

He smirked, "Hey loser, weren't you just shouting about how you'd pay me back?

Are you planning to withdraw it from the bank or transfer it? I'm ready either way."

Emily’s face was cold, but the corners of her mouth lifted slightly, as if she found the situation amusing. There was no way Thomas could come up with 30,000, even if he sold himself. If he had that kind of money, he wouldn't be struggling so much with her sister. Thomas calmly looked at them and said, "I don't want to pay anything right now because this has nothing to do with us. You're the ones at fault."

The taxi driver, who had been watching in fear, was trembling and could hardly speak. If Emily hadn't been there, Thomas might have just paid up; he didn't want to waste his time arguing with these people. As soon as Thomas spoke, Emily couldn't help but laugh, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Hmph, what a big talker. I can see you're just broke. Weren't you acting all high and mighty a moment ago?"

"Hey, not only are you a fool, but you're also a broke fool. If you can't come up with the cash, I'll call someone, and you'll regret it," Cayden shot back, his anger boiling over. Hearing this, Thomas's smile only widened, but there was a cold glint in his eyes. "Go ahead, call them." Cayden's frustration deepened at Thomas's nonchalant attitude. This kid was completely disregarding him.

"Just wait.

When they get here, don't come crying to me. Thomas remained calm, unfazed by the threat. He watched as Cayden pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Barron, get over here. Someone's messing with your little brother," he shouted into the phone.

After hanging up, Cayden smirked, "My brother will be here soon. You can either come up with the money and settle this, or you can get ready to be crippled." Thomas's expression didn't change. He took out his phone and dialed a number. "Send some people to the location I sent you," he instructed calmly.

Seeing Thomas' actions, Cayden burst into laughter, mocking him. "I didn't think you had the guts to call for backup. I can't wait to see who you bring. Just remember, if they can't handle it, you'll all be in trouble, and your friends will suffer too." Emily stayed silent, frowning as she watched Thomas with a cold

gaze. Thomas caught her staring several times, and it made her uncomfortable. She wondered what he was thinking.

In truth, Thomas was reflecting on the last time he saw that muscular guy, who was not the one standing next to her now. It seemed that in such a short time, she had already moved on to another boyfriend. That was quite fast. He considered whether he should mention this to Ava, suggesting she talk to her sister. If this young woman continued to act so recklessly, it wouldn't be long before her reputation was ruined, and then how would she ever find a husband?

At the same time, Beatrice was on the phone, gathering a group of strong young male students. She directed them to the location specified by Thomas. These students were all around six feet tall, and under Beatrice's guidance, they had developed impressive physiques from regular workouts. Now, they arrived in a variety of luxury cars, looking quite impressive and drawing attention.

Soon, a group of young people appeared near Thomas. Their hair was dyed in vibrant colors, giving them a somewhat ridiculous appearance. Yet, they believed they looked incredibly cool. They circled Thomas, dismounting their bikes with an air of confidence.

"Why did you call me over so urgently?"

One of the boys asked casually, removing his helmet and placing it on his bike. Cayden immediately complained, "Barron, you have to help me. This guy wrecked my motorcycle. Barron instinctively glanced at the motorcycle that lay abandoned nearby. The bike was stuck in the bush, looking practically totaled. He quickly understood the situation. A cold smile crept onto his lips as he turned to Thomas. He bragged to me that he could come up with 30,000. If he can't pull it off today, we might just have to chop off his finger and see how he acts then!"

Barron nodded slowly, saying, "Did you hear what my brother said? Hurry up and give me the money. Otherwise, you won't get out of this easily today." His eyes darkened slightly. With so many people surrounding Thomas, it was strange that he remained so calm. Is this guy not afraid? Plus, his outfit was incredibly ordinary; he could easily blend into the crowd. For someone like them, 30,000 was a huge amount. Thomas stared at him, not saying a word.

Cayden frowned in displeasure and coldly remarked, "Weren't you just talking about how you have the money to pay? Why the silence now? This 30,000 is just the price for one of your arms, right?"

Thomas's eyes flickered for a moment, a hint of coldness flashing beneath the surface. With a net worth of his, he certainly wasn't worried about 30,000. He could easily pull that amount together, but that didn't mean he would let these people walk all over him and humiliate him.

"I don't have the money," Thomas replied calmly. The boys burst into laughter, their faces twisted with mockery as they shook their heads at Thomas. This guy was something, they thought. But this wasn't a good habit; if he didn't have the money, he shouldn't have tried to show off in front of them. Now that he was scared, it was too late! Barron hadn't expected Thomas to be so straightforward. He frowned and placed a hand on Thomas's shoulder, lowering his voice. "You're quite bold, aren't you? But if you don't have the cash, this isn't going to end easily for you.

Do you know who I am?"

Thomas shook his head calmly. Someone nearby burst into laughter.

"Hey, old fool, don't think you can treat us, the Barrons, as soft-hearted folks. When we throw a punch, it hurts," one of the thugs sneered. "If you can't come up with the cash today, you might have to feel a bit of pain. At your age, if you still can't read the room, that's just sad," another added, grinning maliciously.

"Come on, hurry up and get the money out. Otherwise, our boss is going to lose his temper," a third thug chimed in.

"Yeah, yeah!

Do you need me to lend you a phone? You can call your family and let them know you're about to lose some cash to avoid worse trouble," another one suggested, laughing. Emily couldn't help but jump in, "This guy? He's not what you think. He's my brother-in-law, and I know him better than anyone. He's always relying on my sister to work herself to the bone just to make ends meet. There's no way he has any money to give you."

At her words, the thugs burst into laughter, looking at Thomas with mocking expressions.

"Oh, is that so? Who would've thought? Old man, you've got some serious skills. Why don’t you teach us how to be a stay-at-home husband? One of them said.

"Yeah, you don't look like much, but who knew you had a way with women?

Seems like we're all losing here," another added, smirking. Thomas remained calm, his expression unchanging despite the insults. But Barron, watching him, felt a flicker of anger rising within him. He had never encountered someone so strange, and was this guy trying to test his patience?

"Are you deaf or something? If you don't get the money out soon, you might just lose that leg of yours," Barron threatened, slamming his hand down on Thomas's shoulder. A chill flickered in Thomas's eyes. He glanced at the time, it was about time for them to arrive.

Suddenly, the thugs turned to see a convoy of luxury cars approaching, quickly surrounding them. Their eyes widened in shock.

"What's going on?" one of them stammered, utterly bewildered. The entire street was packed with people. It wasn't just luxury cars; a dazzling array of high-end vehicles had gathered here. Could it be a car show?

No, that didn't make sense. These people had never heard of any car exhibition being held here! Besides, just touching one of these luxury cars would mean dealing with a price tag in the millions-something ordinary folks couldn't afford. There was no way a car show would take place here. Those people weren't fools. Thomas couldn't help but smirk. In this elite academy, any student you pulled out would be from a wealthy family one a true second-generation rich kid.

"Actually, Mr. Marcus is quite capable in his work, and his performance in the company has been evident. It's just that his fluctuating shares might cause some trouble for us." After saying this, Emily nervously watched Thomas' expression, afraid to make even the slightest mistake. If he got upset, her company could be taken away from her at any moment."You don't need to worry about this. You are the appointed executive director of the company, and there won't be any changes in the short term." But who could guarantee what would happen in the long run? Thomas certainly couldn't. He had his own thoughts on the matter. He was pleased to see Marcus seeking revenge and was eager to enjoy the results of that revenge.Emily picked up on Thomas's implication. The phrase "in the short term" stung her; what did that really mean? Wouldn't she lose her position as executive director and the company itself in just six months? She had initially agreed to their acquisition to help the company reac

Emily had been restless ever since she learned that Marcus had returned to the company. She regretted her past decision to prioritize short-term gains, which led to the partnership with Inner Grand Corporation and effectively turned her company into a subsidiary. Now, it was hard to backtrack, so she decided to take a different approach and speak with someone higher up. She had already reassured the shareholders on her side, but now she needed to find Thomas and meet with him face-to-face. She wanted to ask him about that contract from years ago and how he had casually transferred the shares to someone else—his ex-husband, no less. As she walked into the Titanex cooperation building, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for choosing this place. She had completely forgotten that he still worked here. "Hello, how can I assist you today?" The receptionist at the large corporation was different—her warm and beautiful inquiry eased some of Emily's anxiety. "Hi, l'm here to se

"Have you noticed something strange? That person could be the largest shareholder now, and it won't be long before..." Samuel was quite the gossip, and the older employee next to him nodded knowingly. Everyone knew that the old man's return was no small matter, especially since he had become the biggest shareholder in the company. It was obvious what that meant."It's odd, though. Our company hasn't had any major stock sell-offs or anything. How did that person suddenly become our largest shareholder?"Becoming the largest shareholder isn't aneasy feat."Don't you know? It's Mr. Brown! He personally gave up his shares. You might not be aware of the struggles our company has faced. We were merged with another company halfway through, and our chairman is just an executive director now.""That's true. I almost forgot. After all, the Veritas Group has never really taken our little company seriously. We rarely have any contact, just a name on paper. I didn't expect their shares to pack su

Don't worry, as long as you come to my side, I'll make arrangements for you," he said dismissively. How many more times was she going to run into this today?Adessa remained silent. As she returned to the office, it felt like she hadn't encountered anyone who recognized her; everyone was a stranger."We're in a bit of a hurry, Miss Adessa," the secretary said, gesturing for them to move along. Adessa walked past without acknowledging him. Adessa watched them leave, spitting on the ground in frustration. It was infuriating to see such petty people getting ahead.
