Chapter 001
A thin mist drifted through the tall trees on the outskirts of Elmridge. Deep in the untouched forest, stood an old, modest grave.
No fence. No flowers. Just a gray headstone with rough carvings: "Zion Kallius – The Sky Ruler Who Never Bowed." Kael stood before it, hands in his pockets, his expression a mix of weariness and mild disgust. "Gramps, let’s be real here…" he muttered, nudging a few pebbles near his feet. "If you were still alive, I would've dragged you to the Laurent house and made you feel what it’s like being their son-in-law!" He sighed, then dropped himself onto the roots of a nearby tree, leaning back casually against the tombstone. "Three years, Gramps. Three years. I kept my head down. I swallowed my pride. I played the full-time jobless loser they called ‘trash’, ‘burden’, ‘worthless son-in-law’. Even that thick-eyebrowed aunt said yesterday I was lower than their pet dog. Isn’t it impressive I held back this long?" He chuckled softly. Not bitter, but not exactly amused either. "If it weren’t for what you told me back then... maybe she’d be eating through a feeding tube by now." A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "But yeah, I get it. You owed your friend, and I followed through. Three years protecting the Laurent family. Working from the shadows. Taking every insult. But..." He stood up, brushing leaves off his pants. His tone shifted—calmer, deeper. "One more month, Gramps. One more month, and it’s over. After that... I won’t have to fake being weak anymore. I won’t have to be the worthless in-law in their eyes." From his jacket pocket, he pulled out an old dragon-shaped pendant. It shimmered faintly, glowing under the light. "After this, I’ll live as myself. Not a shadow. Not a puppet. And anyone who underestimated me..." Kael tucked the pendant back into his pocket and smiled. "Yeah… hope they’re ready to be surprised." Suddenly, Kael’s phone buzzed in his pocket. When he pulled it out, the cracked screen lit up with a familiar name—Evelyne Laurent, his wife. Kael raised an eyebrow, then answered, “Yes, Your Highness, how may I assist you?” “Grandma’s birthday party. Eight tonight. Don’t be late.” No greeting. No pause. Just an order. Kael glanced up at the sky and mumbled, “Damn, even G****e Maps is more polite.” “I’ve sent fifty thousand dollars to your account. Get her a gift. Something appropriate,” Evelyne added. Kael lowered the phone for a second, eyeing the notification that popped up. [Transfer: $50,000 – Evelyne Laurent] He squinted slightly. Not at the amount—but at the way she did it. “So, I get sent money, told to buy something, then show up and play nice? Is this the new way to be a husband?” “Kael, please take this seriously. You’re representing me and my family tonight. Don’t mess it up.” “The same family that won’t even acknowledge I exist?” Silence on the other end. Kael smirked. “Relax, I get it. Expensive gift, fancy vibe, all for appearances. I can pretend to be dignified for a few hours.” “I don’t have time for jokes. I need to get ready. Don’t cause trouble.” Click. Call ended. Kael stared at the black screen. He exhaled slowly, then muttered to himself. “Yeah, yeah. I’m the bonus husband—buy the gift, bring the gift, then step aside for the family photos.” He started heading down the gravel path, shoes crunching quietly. “But alright... a gift’s a gift. If they want something ‘worthy’... I’ll give them something that shuts everyone up. Might as well show a little glimpse of who the ‘trash son-in-law’ really is.” Kael walked toward the city. In his pocket, the old dragon pendant pulsed with warmth. The world might still see him as a nobody. But soon... that label would be ashes. --- At this point, Kael arrived beneath a run-down building that looked like an abandoned warehouse. The walls were cracked, the paint peeling. But Kael knew better than to judge by appearances. This place was actually a secret, exclusive auction house—home to historical treasures, heirlooms, and even rare energy-infused artifacts. Of course, only a select few in the city knew of it—those with serious influence. Kael approached. Two men in dark suits stood at the steel door. Their eyes were sharp, sizing him up from head to toe. “Invitation?” one of them asked, cold and flat. Kael didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled the dragon pendant from his pocket and held it up in the air. In an instant, the atmosphere shifted. The guards’ eyes widened. Their faces turned pale. “T-That’s...!” They exchanged glances. One of them immediately bowed and pressed a hidden button on the wall. “P-Please wait a moment, sir... we’re informing the boss right away.” Kael gave a small nod, slipping the pendant back into his jacket. It wasn’t long before a well-dressed middle-aged man appeared, flanked by two attendants. His eyes trembled slightly at the sight of Kael, and he bowed deeply. Paul William, the shadow ruler of Elmridge. His name wasn’t in any law book, but every mayor, police chief, and CEO in the city knew—this city ran because he allowed it. He wasn’t a hero. Not a villain either. Paul was something in between—a king of the underworld who ruled with a strict code, not brute force. He built his empire from the shadows: through hidden corridors, silent deals, and the trust of people who couldn’t rely on a broken system. Compared to him, the Laurent family? They were nothing. Like a firefly in a vast forest. And yet, this powerful man greeted Kael with fear and respect. “Welcome… Your Excellency, Lord of the Sky Dragon Sect.” The attendants behind Paul bowed deeply, not daring to meet Kael’s eyes. “I never imagined... you would honor my humble place with your presence. It’s truly an honor for the Dragon Lord to come in person.” Kael replied, “I’m just looking for something to give my wife’s grandma.” “As it happens, the auction is about to begin, Your Excellency. Whatever you need, whatever you desire, this place is yours. I’ll prepare a VIP room and a private passage.” Kael answered flatly, “No need. I’m just browsing. I’ll leave once I find what I want. I’ll sit with the regular crowd.” Without waiting for a reply, Kael stepped inside. And the world changed. Inside, it was like a hidden five-star hotel—crystal chandeliers, red carpets, black-glass walls. Guests wore tuxedos, evening gowns, and some even had masks. Kael hung his jacket by the entrance, revealing a simple black shirt underneath. Not fancy, but his presence was calm, firm. He took participant card #077 and sat toward the back.Expand

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 428
The next morning, Kael's routine ran the same as usual.A short walk, breakfast, then to Wu Shengming's room for the regular checkup. Lou Bingxin stood in her usual spot, watching with an expression that was never quite fully neutral whenever her eyes landed on Kael.Kael didn't make anything of it.He did his job the same way as the day before, methodical and professional, a remedy that was nothing more than paracetamol to ease the pain, a few brief words of explanation to Lou Bingxin about a condition that hadn't changed much, and then he left.Meanwhile, Xiao Peng was making his rounds, not in the form of a small bird, but something far smaller.---A tiny mosquito drifted slowly through the main palace corridor, no different from the mosquitoes that occasionally turned up in the damp rooms on the eastern side.Nobody paid it any attention. Nobody needed to.Inside that small body, Xiao Peng moved in a way different from the night before. As a bird, he still had a shape conspicuous

Kael didn't start right away.He walked to the desk, picked up two chairs, and set them facing each other in the middle of the room. He sat in one, then nodded toward the other.Xiao Peng sat down."First, I need you to understand something fundamental," said Kael. "Black energy is not your enemy. It's not a poison that needs to be fought. People who fail to tame it always fail for the same reason, they try to overpower it."Xiao Peng listened closely."Black energy is like a fire that has been left burning for too long with no direction. Wild, unstable, and its first instinct is always to push outward. If you face it head-on, it will push back twice as hard. If you suppress it, it will find another way out." Kael paused for a moment. "What you have to do is talk to it."Xiao Peng furrowed his brow slightly."What do you mean?""Go into your dantian. Find the black energy. Don't touch it, don't push it, don't do anything at all. Just look." Kael held his gaze. "Do it now."Xiao Peng c

"We'll stop here for tonight."Kael stood and stretched his back. "Get some rest. Tomorrow I'll teach you how to tame the black energy and turn it into silver energy."Xiao Peng's eyes lit up immediately. His entire body felt full of new strength he hadn't yet fully explored, and his mind was already turning toward what might be possible if that energy were refined even further. He wanted to say he hadn't felt this good in fifteen hundred years, and that tonight was too precious to spend sleeping. But it was the Grand Leader's order, so there was no refusing.Xiao Peng nodded. "Understood, Grand Leader.""You sleep on the floor," Kael added, pointing to the corner of the room. "There's only one bed. That's fine, isn't it?"Xiao Peng glanced at the corner being pointed to, then back at Kael, with the expression of someone who felt the question didn't need to be asked at all."Not at all, Grand Leader. I've been sleeping on mud for fifteen hundred years. Sleeping on a floor is already a

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 425
Throughout the day, Kael's room looked like it belonged to a physician working himself hard.In the perception of those watching from outside, Kael sat at the desk with several sheets of paper in front of him, occasionally holding his head, occasionally crossing something out, occasionally standing and pacing from one end of the room to the other like someone working through a difficult problem. The perfect image of a Divine Physician pushing his entire mind to find a cure for a rare illness.Of course, it was all an illusion.Behind the layer of the Unawakened Dream Illusion Technique he had set up carefully since morning, the real Kael was sitting cross-legged in the center of the room with his eyes closed, absorbing spiritual energy from the surrounding environment and storing it slowly into his dantian. He was using this time to rest completely, a far more productive use of it than pretending to think hard.---Night arrived slowly. The spiritual lanterns in the outer corridor dim

It didn't take long before the room door was knocked and several servants came in one by one, carrying trays that barely fit in two hands. They set everything down on the large table in the middle of the room, bowed, then left.Kael looked at the spread in front of him.Venison braised in fragrant mountain mushroom broth. Slices of blue river fish found only in streams at a certain elevation. A bone broth clear in color but dense with spiritual energy you could feel from a meter away. Several types of vegetables with slightly luminous leaves, stir-fried in oil pressed from rare lotus seeds. White rice with grains larger than usual, harvested from fields planted in soil that had been absorbing thousands of years of spiritual energy. And in the center of it all, a plate of steamed black mushrooms spotted with gold that even fully cooked still released an aroma that made the surrounding air feel fresher. This was not ordinary food. This was the best the Demon Sect's kitchen had to offer.

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 423
Kael almost couldn't control his expression when he heard that. He hadn't expected this traitor to be sharp enough to figure it out.She managed to draw the right conclusion from just one incident? Impressive. But Kael held his composure. On the surface, he furrowed his brow in a way that looked genuinely confused, the expression of someone who had just heard a name they had never encountered before."No." His tone was easy, his hand still holding out grains of rice toward the small bird on the chair back. "My name is Gao Changgong. And who is Mo Tianjue?"Lou Bingxin stared at him hard. Her eyes ran across Kael's face, searching for a crack, searching for a small twitch in the jaw muscles, a blink that came too fast, a shift in the pupils, anything that showed a lie. She had done this to thousands of people over thousands of years, but there was nothing. The face in front of her was as clean as the surface of a lake that had never had a stone thrown into it."You visited the undergro
