Chapter 001
A thin mist drifted through the tall trees on the outskirts of Elmridge. Deep in the untouched forest, stood an old, modest grave.
No fence. No flowers. Just a gray headstone with rough carvings: "Zion Kallius – The Sky Ruler Who Never Bowed." Kael stood before it, hands in his pockets, his expression a mix of weariness and mild disgust. "Gramps, let’s be real here…" he muttered, nudging a few pebbles near his feet. "If you were still alive, I would've dragged you to the Laurent house and made you feel what it’s like being their son-in-law!" He sighed, then dropped himself onto the roots of a nearby tree, leaning back casually against the tombstone. "Three years, Gramps. Three years. I kept my head down. I swallowed my pride. I played the full-time jobless loser they called ‘trash’, ‘burden’, ‘worthless son-in-law’. Even that thick-eyebrowed aunt said yesterday I was lower than their pet dog. Isn’t it impressive I held back this long?" He chuckled softly. Not bitter, but not exactly amused either. "If it weren’t for what you told me back then... maybe she’d be eating through a feeding tube by now." A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "But yeah, I get it. You owed your friend, and I followed through. Three years protecting the Laurent family. Working from the shadows. Taking every insult. But..." He stood up, brushing leaves off his pants. His tone shifted—calmer, deeper. "One more month, Gramps. One more month, and it’s over. After that... I won’t have to fake being weak anymore. I won’t have to be the worthless in-law in their eyes." From his jacket pocket, he pulled out an old dragon-shaped pendant. It shimmered faintly, glowing under the light. "After this, I’ll live as myself. Not a shadow. Not a puppet. And anyone who underestimated me..." Kael tucked the pendant back into his pocket and smiled. "Yeah… hope they’re ready to be surprised." Suddenly, Kael’s phone buzzed in his pocket. When he pulled it out, the cracked screen lit up with a familiar name—Evelyne Laurent, his wife. Kael raised an eyebrow, then answered, “Yes, Your Highness, how may I assist you?” “Grandma’s birthday party. Eight tonight. Don’t be late.” No greeting. No pause. Just an order. Kael glanced up at the sky and mumbled, “Damn, even G****e Maps is more polite.” “I’ve sent fifty thousand dollars to your account. Get her a gift. Something appropriate,” Evelyne added. Kael lowered the phone for a second, eyeing the notification that popped up. [Transfer: $50,000 – Evelyne Laurent] He squinted slightly. Not at the amount—but at the way she did it. “So, I get sent money, told to buy something, then show up and play nice? Is this the new way to be a husband?” “Kael, please take this seriously. You’re representing me and my family tonight. Don’t mess it up.” “The same family that won’t even acknowledge I exist?” Silence on the other end. Kael smirked. “Relax, I get it. Expensive gift, fancy vibe, all for appearances. I can pretend to be dignified for a few hours.” “I don’t have time for jokes. I need to get ready. Don’t cause trouble.” Click. Call ended. Kael stared at the black screen. He exhaled slowly, then muttered to himself. “Yeah, yeah. I’m the bonus husband—buy the gift, bring the gift, then step aside for the family photos.” He started heading down the gravel path, shoes crunching quietly. “But alright... a gift’s a gift. If they want something ‘worthy’... I’ll give them something that shuts everyone up. Might as well show a little glimpse of who the ‘trash son-in-law’ really is.” Kael walked toward the city. In his pocket, the old dragon pendant pulsed with warmth. The world might still see him as a nobody. But soon... that label would be ashes. --- At this point, Kael arrived beneath a run-down building that looked like an abandoned warehouse. The walls were cracked, the paint peeling. But Kael knew better than to judge by appearances. This place was actually a secret, exclusive auction house—home to historical treasures, heirlooms, and even rare energy-infused artifacts. Of course, only a select few in the city knew of it—those with serious influence. Kael approached. Two men in dark suits stood at the steel door. Their eyes were sharp, sizing him up from head to toe. “Invitation?” one of them asked, cold and flat. Kael didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled the dragon pendant from his pocket and held it up in the air. In an instant, the atmosphere shifted. The guards’ eyes widened. Their faces turned pale. “T-That’s...!” They exchanged glances. One of them immediately bowed and pressed a hidden button on the wall. “P-Please wait a moment, sir... we’re informing the boss right away.” Kael gave a small nod, slipping the pendant back into his jacket. It wasn’t long before a well-dressed middle-aged man appeared, flanked by two attendants. His eyes trembled slightly at the sight of Kael, and he bowed deeply. Paul William, the shadow ruler of Elmridge. His name wasn’t in any law book, but every mayor, police chief, and CEO in the city knew—this city ran because he allowed it. He wasn’t a hero. Not a villain either. Paul was something in between—a king of the underworld who ruled with a strict code, not brute force. He built his empire from the shadows: through hidden corridors, silent deals, and the trust of people who couldn’t rely on a broken system. Compared to him, the Laurent family? They were nothing. Like a firefly in a vast forest. And yet, this powerful man greeted Kael with fear and respect. “Welcome… Your Excellency, Lord of the Sky Dragon Sect.” The attendants behind Paul bowed deeply, not daring to meet Kael’s eyes. “I never imagined... you would honor my humble place with your presence. It’s truly an honor for the Dragon Lord to come in person.” Kael replied, “I’m just looking for something to give my wife’s grandma.” “As it happens, the auction is about to begin, Your Excellency. Whatever you need, whatever you desire, this place is yours. I’ll prepare a VIP room and a private passage.” Kael answered flatly, “No need. I’m just browsing. I’ll leave once I find what I want. I’ll sit with the regular crowd.” Without waiting for a reply, Kael stepped inside. And the world changed. Inside, it was like a hidden five-star hotel—crystal chandeliers, red carpets, black-glass walls. Guests wore tuxedos, evening gowns, and some even had masks. Kael hung his jacket by the entrance, revealing a simple black shirt underneath. Not fancy, but his presence was calm, firm. He took participant card #077 and sat toward the back.Expand

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 167
The forest shook again as the Lava Devouring Lion lunged for a second time. The beast opened its massive jaws wide, spewing a stream of molten breath hot enough to melt solid rock.Kael shifted his stance half a step, vanishing from the attack’s path and reappearing beside the creature’s flank. He struck again and again, each blow roaring like thunder against steel. The ground trembled under the force, and the air hummed from the shock. But even though the monster was repeatedly knocked back, its scales still held. Only faint hairline cracks appeared. The lion roared in fury, jumping backward as glowing cracks of molten red began spreading beneath its scales — its natural defensive state when pushed to its limits. The heat pouring from its body grew so intense that nearby boulders softened and trees burst into flame just by being too close.Kael didn’t chase. He wasn’t some beast blinded by rage. And in the moment the lion tried to crush him with its full aura… he saw it — a small fis

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 166
A few minutes earlier —Three spirit horses raced along a dense mountain trail. At the front rode a young woman around twenty-two, dressed in a jade-green robe marked with a silver lotus leaf emblem on her chest — the symbol of the Windtower Jade Sect, a respected mid-rank sect. Her name was Mu Qingya — the only daughter of the Sect Leader, heir to the sect, and one of the young talents invited to the Grand Tournament hosted by the Righteous Dragon Sect.Behind her followed two protectors, both men in their mid-thirties: Qin Ruo — tall, sharp-featured, with the air of a stern guardian, and Jiang Wei — hair tied back halfway, eyes calm yet razor-sharp. They had served her family since childhood and were known as intelligent and powerful escorts. They rode in silence for a long while before Jiang Wei finally spoke.“Lady Qingya, this mountain path is too narrow. We shouldn’t be cutting through the forest.”Mu Qingya sighed softly. “If we take the official road, we’ll be delayed by two m

After that, Kael didn’t leave right away.He wasn’t there just to save them… he stayed to rebuild.Tu Feng helped by lifting broken beams and clearing the rubble. Not only that, the Spirit Eagle even cut down several trees with its claws.Kael then rearranged the logs and built the frames for small houses. The walls were shaped from packed earth and reinforced with spiritual energy so that even a strong wind wouldn’t be able to knock them down.Simple, but sturdy. Small, but safe. And for the first time since the tragedy… hope returned.By sunset, a few of the remaining villagers came to him and kneeled. They bowed deeply, their faces filled with a gratitude too heavy for words.“You… you’re not human… you’re our saving god…!”Kael shook his head slowly.“Stand,” he said softly. “As human beings… it’s only natural that we help one another.”The line was simple, but it was enough to make them cry again. Not out of sorrow — but because they had just witnessed something that almost no lo

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 164
The four remaining bandits didn’t even get the chance to stand up. Their bodies collapsed one by one — no screams, no resistance — just death so swift their minds didn’t have time to realize they were gone.Kael didn’t spare them another glance. He stepped onto Tu Feng’s back and patted his feathers lightly.“Westward,” he said quietly. “That’s where their blood trail leads.”Tu Feng spread his wings and shot back into the sky.---It didn’t take long for Kael to find it — the village that had been completely destroyed. The roofs were flattened to the ground, some still blackened by fresh burn marks. The dirt road was stained with half-dried blood. Bodies lay scattered everywhere: grown men, elderly folk too weak to even kneel… and small children still clutching worn stuffed dolls in their arms.Kael’s fist clenched slowly. His once calm fingers tensed.“If I had gotten here just a little earlier…” he muttered, bitterness edging his voice. Then he saw the rest.In the middle of the vi

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 163
The four bandits subconsciously stepped back half a pace. Their bodies trembled, eyes wide, their breath caught in their throats. That… was not the power of an ordinary cultivator. It was the power of someone who didn’t even need to try to kill them.“He’s… Soul Realm…? But his level— it’s way above mine!” Zhang Kui thought in disbelief. His throat suddenly went dry. All the confidence that burned so fiercely in his head moments ago crumbled like sand slipping through fingers.Who was this young man? How could someone from the backward Eastern region possess such overwhelming pressure? That place was known for weaklings— poor villages, no great sects— then why……why did a monster like this come from there?!Damn it! Forget that! What matters now is surviving. Facing him is the same as suicide.“My apologies,” Zhang Kui said, forcing composure just to stay alive. “I admit my fault for offending you. If you want to kill one of us, so be it— consider it the price for our foolishness. We’

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 162
High above the clouds, Kael slowly opened his eyes. The wind currents had shifted. Not violently, not loudly — but with intent… ill intent. He didn’t need to look back. Everything moving below was already mapped out in his mind like ripples on water.Six auras. Rough, wild… and drenched in blood.Kael exhaled softly. “They’re not even bothering to hide their killing intent.”He lowered his gaze. On the rocky trail far below, six bandits thundered forward atop spiritual flame-steeds. Patches of blood still stained their clothes and necks — fresh, not yet dried. They had just slaughtered many people. Perhaps an entire village.Kael raised a brow slightly. “Are they trying to rob me? Do they really think I’m just another prey — like the people they just butchered?” he muttered flatly.Tu Feng tilted his head slightly, waiting for the order.Kael gently stroked his neck. “We’re not letting vermin like that continue breathing. Let’s go greet them, Tu Feng.”Tu Feng spread his wings wide an
