Chapter 001
A thin mist drifted through the tall trees on the outskirts of Elmridge. Deep in the untouched forest, stood an old, modest grave.
No fence. No flowers. Just a gray headstone with rough carvings: "Zion Kallius – The Sky Ruler Who Never Bowed." Kael stood before it, hands in his pockets, his expression a mix of weariness and mild disgust. "Gramps, let’s be real here…" he muttered, nudging a few pebbles near his feet. "If you were still alive, I would've dragged you to the Laurent house and made you feel what it’s like being their son-in-law!" He sighed, then dropped himself onto the roots of a nearby tree, leaning back casually against the tombstone. "Three years, Gramps. Three years. I kept my head down. I swallowed my pride. I played the full-time jobless loser they called ‘trash’, ‘burden’, ‘worthless son-in-law’. Even that thick-eyebrowed aunt said yesterday I was lower than their pet dog. Isn’t it impressive I held back this long?" He chuckled softly. Not bitter, but not exactly amused either. "If it weren’t for what you told me back then... maybe she’d be eating through a feeding tube by now." A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "But yeah, I get it. You owed your friend, and I followed through. Three years protecting the Laurent family. Working from the shadows. Taking every insult. But..." He stood up, brushing leaves off his pants. His tone shifted—calmer, deeper. "One more month, Gramps. One more month, and it’s over. After that... I won’t have to fake being weak anymore. I won’t have to be the worthless in-law in their eyes." From his jacket pocket, he pulled out an old dragon-shaped pendant. It shimmered faintly, glowing under the light. "After this, I’ll live as myself. Not a shadow. Not a puppet. And anyone who underestimated me..." Kael tucked the pendant back into his pocket and smiled. "Yeah… hope they’re ready to be surprised." Suddenly, Kael’s phone buzzed in his pocket. When he pulled it out, the cracked screen lit up with a familiar name—Evelyne Laurent, his wife. Kael raised an eyebrow, then answered, “Yes, Your Highness, how may I assist you?” “Grandma’s birthday party. Eight tonight. Don’t be late.” No greeting. No pause. Just an order. Kael glanced up at the sky and mumbled, “Damn, even G****e Maps is more polite.” “I’ve sent fifty thousand dollars to your account. Get her a gift. Something appropriate,” Evelyne added. Kael lowered the phone for a second, eyeing the notification that popped up. [Transfer: $50,000 – Evelyne Laurent] He squinted slightly. Not at the amount—but at the way she did it. “So, I get sent money, told to buy something, then show up and play nice? Is this the new way to be a husband?” “Kael, please take this seriously. You’re representing me and my family tonight. Don’t mess it up.” “The same family that won’t even acknowledge I exist?” Silence on the other end. Kael smirked. “Relax, I get it. Expensive gift, fancy vibe, all for appearances. I can pretend to be dignified for a few hours.” “I don’t have time for jokes. I need to get ready. Don’t cause trouble.” Click. Call ended. Kael stared at the black screen. He exhaled slowly, then muttered to himself. “Yeah, yeah. I’m the bonus husband—buy the gift, bring the gift, then step aside for the family photos.” He started heading down the gravel path, shoes crunching quietly. “But alright... a gift’s a gift. If they want something ‘worthy’... I’ll give them something that shuts everyone up. Might as well show a little glimpse of who the ‘trash son-in-law’ really is.” Kael walked toward the city. In his pocket, the old dragon pendant pulsed with warmth. The world might still see him as a nobody. But soon... that label would be ashes. --- At this point, Kael arrived beneath a run-down building that looked like an abandoned warehouse. The walls were cracked, the paint peeling. But Kael knew better than to judge by appearances. This place was actually a secret, exclusive auction house—home to historical treasures, heirlooms, and even rare energy-infused artifacts. Of course, only a select few in the city knew of it—those with serious influence. Kael approached. Two men in dark suits stood at the steel door. Their eyes were sharp, sizing him up from head to toe. “Invitation?” one of them asked, cold and flat. Kael didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled the dragon pendant from his pocket and held it up in the air. In an instant, the atmosphere shifted. The guards’ eyes widened. Their faces turned pale. “T-That’s...!” They exchanged glances. One of them immediately bowed and pressed a hidden button on the wall. “P-Please wait a moment, sir... we’re informing the boss right away.” Kael gave a small nod, slipping the pendant back into his jacket. It wasn’t long before a well-dressed middle-aged man appeared, flanked by two attendants. His eyes trembled slightly at the sight of Kael, and he bowed deeply. Paul William, the shadow ruler of Elmridge. His name wasn’t in any law book, but every mayor, police chief, and CEO in the city knew—this city ran because he allowed it. He wasn’t a hero. Not a villain either. Paul was something in between—a king of the underworld who ruled with a strict code, not brute force. He built his empire from the shadows: through hidden corridors, silent deals, and the trust of people who couldn’t rely on a broken system. Compared to him, the Laurent family? They were nothing. Like a firefly in a vast forest. And yet, this powerful man greeted Kael with fear and respect. “Welcome… Your Excellency, Lord of the Sky Dragon Sect.” The attendants behind Paul bowed deeply, not daring to meet Kael’s eyes. “I never imagined... you would honor my humble place with your presence. It’s truly an honor for the Dragon Lord to come in person.” Kael replied, “I’m just looking for something to give my wife’s grandma.” “As it happens, the auction is about to begin, Your Excellency. Whatever you need, whatever you desire, this place is yours. I’ll prepare a VIP room and a private passage.” Kael answered flatly, “No need. I’m just browsing. I’ll leave once I find what I want. I’ll sit with the regular crowd.” Without waiting for a reply, Kael stepped inside. And the world changed. Inside, it was like a hidden five-star hotel—crystal chandeliers, red carpets, black-glass walls. Guests wore tuxedos, evening gowns, and some even had masks. Kael hung his jacket by the entrance, revealing a simple black shirt underneath. Not fancy, but his presence was calm, firm. He took participant card #077 and sat toward the back.Expand

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 089
Of course, even though fear gnawed at him, there was no way he would admit defeat. He was the son of the leader of Serpiente Negra—the most feared mafia syndicate in Villemere. There was no way he would bow down to this man!Bruno let out a sharp scoff, as if trying to chase away the creeping dread in his chest. Ignoring Kael’s earlier threat, he stepped forward with a glare full of hatred, fists clenched, his heavy voice rumbling through the tense, silent room.“You know who I am?” he asked in a low, almost growling tone. He tugged at his silk tie, loosening it, then jabbed a thumb at his chest. “I’m Bruno Salvatierra. Son of El Jefe. The sole heir of Serpiente Negra—the name that makes cops piss their pants and judges lower their heads.”Several guests lowered their gazes even further. That name was a curse in Villemere. Anyone who crossed them vanished without a trace.Bruno stepped closer, now only a few paces away. His breath reeked of expensive cigars and liquor. His eyes cut to

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 088
On the third floor of Rose and Reverie, a stout man in a black suit with a gold chain draped around his neck sat with several of his men. His face gleamed with oil, and his small, sharp eyes glinted like those of a snake. His name was Bruno Salvatierra, the son of the leader of Villemere’s infamous mafia syndicate—Serpiente Negra, the group that controlled the city’s underground trade and high-end prostitution rings. One of his men, a buzz-cut guy, approached him with a look of excitement. “Young Master Bruno, there’s a woman upstairs… incredibly gorgeous. She’s sitting with some guy who doesn’t look like much.”Bruno paused mid-sip, narrowing his eyes. “Gorgeous, huh? In this place?” His lips curled into a sly grin. “You know I have a thing for something special.”“Yes, Young Master. Fair skin, perfect figure, carries herself with such grace. Definitely upper-class. It’d be a waste not to… taste her,” the buzz-cut man replied with a sycophantic tone.Bruno let out a heavy laugh, his

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 087
The car rolled slowly through the illuminated streets of Villemere, leaving behind the hospital still brimming with tears of joy and heartfelt laughter. Evelyne chose not to intrude on that precious moment, silently promising herself she would return once she was sure Elise had fully recovered. She sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing at Kael, who was driving calmly. For once, she didn’t see him as a burden, nor as the man who was there only because of her grandfather’s will. Now, she saw him as someone dependable. The quiet hum inside the car was finally broken by Evelyne’s voice. “A few days ago… you asked me out for dinner, didn’t you, Kael?”Kael glanced at her briefly, the corner of his lips curling up. “I did. Honestly, I didn’t think you’d remember that. That alone is already a blessing.”Evelyne pretended not to hear the subtle tease. “Well, I’ve made up my mind… let’s have dinner here in Villemere before we head back to Elmridge.”Kael grinned, his eyes glinting w

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 086
In less than half an hour, everything Kael had asked for was ready. Twelve sterile acupuncture needles were carefully arranged on a metal tray beside the bed, next to a small bowl of warm herbal decoction—ginkgo leaves, astragalus root, cinnamon bark, and dried chrysanthemum flowers, all prepared in a rush by the hospital’s pharmacy at the Marchand family’s urgent request. The faint scent of the herbs filled the room—not overpowering, but enough to push back the cold antiseptic smell.Henri, Adrien, and Clara stood a little further back, their eyes fixed on Kael, who had rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie. His hands looked steady and skilled.Evelyne lingered by the door, watching her husband with a mix of awe, worry, and curiosity.Kael drew a slow breath and lit a small heater to sterilize each needle tip one by one. “I’m starting now. Don’t interrupt me for the next ten minutes,” he said without looking up—his voice calm, but carrying a weight that left no room for argument. The a

Hearing that, Henri spun around, his exhausted face now flushed red with anger. “What did you just say, boy?! Fifteen minutes? You think my wife’s life is a toy?!”Adrien stepped forward, his tone sharp as a blade. “You really don’t know your place, do you?! You think this is the time to show off? You haven’t even touched a stethoscope!”If Kael weren’t Evelyne’s husband, Adrien would’ve already thrown a punch, dropped him to the floor—hell, maybe even killed him before his mother did.Clara, who had been holding back, finally lost her patience too. “Kael! My mother is not some test subject! Do you think we can just trust your nonsense?”Even the attending doctor, who had tried to remain professional until now, finally spoke up. “Enough! Young man, do you think being a doctor is that easy? I’ve been in the medical field for fifteen years! I’ve treated over a thousand patients, and I have never—never!—claimed anything without thorough tests, without data, without a clear diagnosis!”Th

The Hidden Supreme Son-in-Law Chapter 084
At Villemere General Hospital, Clara hurried down the pale white hallway, her breath ragged. Her footsteps echoed against the mostly empty rows of waiting chairs, accompanied only by the sharp smell of antiseptic and the faint creak of IV machines from nearby rooms. After ending her call with Evelyne, her chest felt a little lighter—like a sliver of hope had just pierced through the darkness that had been closing in on her.But before she could even take a proper breath, a nurse with a worried look rushed toward her.“Miss Marchand! Your mother’s condition is getting worse. The doctor needs you in the ICU, right now!”Clara froze. “W-what? That fast?!” Without waiting for an answer, she bolted after the nurse, pushing past the fatigue that had been clinging to her since last night. The moment the ICU door swung open, the sharp scent of medication hit her. Her mother, Elise Marchand, lay pale on the bed—so pale she almost blended into the pillow behind her. Her breathing was heavy and
