Prologue

The door went open and Alan hurried in, a look of panic on his face. Ava was seated by the fire with the baby in her hands and back to him as she whispered a song to her child.

"We must leave. Now!"

Alan walks into the room after seeing he already got Ava's rapt attention. She stood on her feet, clenching hard to her baby in fright.

He said they wouldn't find them here! Alan had promised with his life to keep them safe…

"What do you mean they are coming? You promised me brother! You promised they wouldn't get to us!!" Ava cried

"This is no time to shed tears Ava! We have to leave immediately! Her royal highness found us! And we can't waste another moment on this discussion!"

He tied up her clothes and the baby's in a clothes and flunk it over his shoulders before rushing them down the narrow passage to make use of the back door . After making sure they were both out, he sets up the cottage built out of a straw on fire while they made their way into the forest, Alan right behind her and his sword drawn in case they were taken by surprise by an attack.

This was not how he had imagined things would have turned out! He had never seen this coming but he knew Ava's entanglement with the crown prince was only going to lead to trouble and nothing else.

But he had never expected a death penalty..

Alan hated the prince even more! He had promised his sister heaven on earth and now, he had no other way of protecting her rater than to tell her she had to run for her life!

And that coward was to ascend the throne soon? And couldn't stand up for what he cared about?

That man was no prince, he was a coward, an infidel, imbecile!

A crippled youngster, who's decisions were still tied around his mother's wishes!

How could Ava not have seen this before? Was she so blindly in love that she didn't think about her relationship with him deeply?

How could Alan blame his sister? She was just an innocent young lady who fell in love with the wrong person!

He hoped she's learnt her lesson now that she was closer to death than her very next step!

They went on running, not taking a second to catch their breathe. Whoever was after them wanted them dead by all means and the attackers weren't going to rest until they were both confirmed dead!

"I…I'm tried" Ava said, gasping for air.

"This is not the time to be weak Ava! The people after us are not taking a break either!" Alan said

"My legs….they hurt" she said

"For the sake of that boy, keep running" Alan said, taking her hand in his as they kept running.

Soon torches were seen a few yards behind them and the fast rustling sound of the forest, telling them their opponent were moving even closer.

Alan and Ava quickened their phase, running without taking a glance back.

"Keep going Ava. Keep this with you and stay ahead of me"

"Brother…"

"He is not safe in this town! You and the child must go somewhere safe!"

"But"

"Go Ava!"

Ava took a few steps back in hestitation and soon took to her jeels, holding her baby close to her heart as she fled with everything that was in her.

Ava took a glance back and almost choked with tears when she realised her brother wasn't no longer right behind her. She could hear distant groans and waving of swords in the night sky.

What could have become of her brother? This is all her fault!

If she had just….

Ava took a look at the baby she had in hand as well as the heirloom around his neck..

She had to keep him safe regardless…

Ava went on running, praying to the creator to keep her brother strong and safe for her.

Ava made sure she was far beyond reach, deep into the woods and soon sights the town a few meters ahead.

She made another run for it and soon found herself running towards themarket and pass to the parts where she knew people lived.

She could see the guards were getting closer to her and her heart dropped in her stomachs

Is her brother dead?

No, that had better not be the case!

Ava approaches the first house she saw in sight, banging hard on the door for anyone to come to her aid.

"Please! Anyone! Help me!!" She pleaded as she went from door to door.

Rain started to drizzle, it wasn't going to help her if the guards could make out her foot print on the muddy floors…

"Please help me!!!" She said, banging on the last door she could find.

This person just had to help her or that was the end of her child!

The door swing open to reveal a preganat woman apparently, still drowsy in sleep.

"Please…help my child" Ava pleaded with tears in her eyes…

The woman glances at the child in her hands. Such a beautiful creature drained in the rain…

That isn't good at all!

"Over here! Search every where!"

"Yes sir!!"

Ava glanced at the woman helplessly

"Please keep my child safe" Ava pleaded

The woman took the child from Ava as the mother took one more glance at her nameless child…

How much she wanted to see him grow but that would be next to impossible…

"This way!!"

Ava took to her heels before the woman could question her any further. She shuts the door behind her as she sights the torches from the guards. She glances down at the child and felt her heart warm at his gentle smile.

"Mother? What is going on outside?"

Her son, walks out of the room, rubbing his eyes on sleep as he approached his mother.

"Will, you have a brother" she said with a smile

Williams approached the baby curiously and smiled at the beautiful creature.

"What are you going to name him?" His mother asked

Williams stared at the baby and soon smiled as a name came to mind….
