“A divorce?” August repeated the words as he clenched his fist tightly. Though he could see she was trying to intimidate him into giving out what she wanted to hear but then, in no circumstances was he ready to part ways with her.
“I still love you. I won't agree to the divorce.” He said with a straight face, and she was forced to look at him. “Is that so? Then tell me the truth, or do you want to be forced to say it? Remember no one gives a damn about you and if you keep pushing me to the wall, you will hate it!” She said in a threatening tone. Although divorcing him wouldn't be that easy, not because she wasn't willing but because her grandmother who forced the marriage upon her just to subdue her wouldn’t want the divorce to go through. “It's better if you don't know. Moreover, it isn't like it will be beneficial to you.” August said helplessly. “So it's true, huh?” She suddenly said, and her hand flew to her mouth. Lately, she had been hearing rumors and his stubbornness had given it all out. If at all he was going for something that wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't have hesitated this much before giving it out. “What?” August raised a brow as her, trying to comprehend what she just said, and also the glint in her eyes told him otherwise. “Rumors have it that you are seeing someone behind my back. Tell me, even a cripple like you do cheat, huh? “Do I look like a weak, stupid, vulnerable woman who had no common sense to you? Or perhaps those casual girls one can find in a brothel? You think you can just keep me by the side while having other girls swooning all over you?” Caroline cried even harder and broke down on the floor. When her friend told her her husband was going to see a mistress who was he supporting financially, she couldn't believe it. At first, it never dawned on her that someone like August would have the audacity to see another woman beside her. Now, she was able to connect all the dots. The tens of thousands of dollars that had been missing for a month was used to take care of another woman. The thought of this made her feel like hitting her head on the wall to vent her anger. This pain in her chest was just so consuming. She felt used, toyed with, and taken for a fool and worst of it was by a crippled man. What would become of her now? Her friends laughed and called her several names, but she condemned their words saying it was all false accusations only for it to turn out to be true. Damn it! She cried even more loudly. “Caroline, no! Who told you that?” August couldn't help but feel angered by this. Who dared poison his wife's mind with such nonsense? No one was as beautiful as her. She was like a crystal moon that brightened his life and no woman on this earth was comparable to her. Even a single bit! “Caroline, those are all rumors. Don't cry, please. I swear I am not seeing any woman.” He said with bitterness in his heart and wheeled his chair towards her but she quickly crawled meters away from him. “Stay away from me! Don't come any closer! I hate you!” She yelled in frustration. Her eyes and cheeks had turned swollen due to the excessive cry, and it didn't look like she would stop anytime soon. “Caroline,” he called out nevertheless. Her words cut in so deep into his chest like a dagger, but it was better he consoled her than watching her cry which was much more heartbreaking. “I swear on my late mother, I am not seeing another woman,” August said but the more he spoke, the more his words sounded more of an excuse to her. Sniff! Sniff! “I don't want a man who has nothing to offer but instead depends on a woman. I want a man, I want a hero, someone who I can depend on, someone who can tell me e everything will be alright, someone who can hold my hands and promise me a good future.” She finally said after crying for a while. She then sniffed hard to control her tears before pulling out a necklace she had been keeping hidden in her pocket. The necklace was a simple emerald necklace, but it was worth so much in her heart. Just then her memories drifted back to three years ago. She was on a business trip heading to another town when several armed men ambushed her car. After seeing them, she realized a war had broken out in the area, and she had mistakenly found herself driving on a battlefield. However, there wasn't a way out of this anymore. She watched how the men approached her intending to toy with her before killing her off. As the men approached her, she felt miserable. They dragged her out of her car and threw her to the floor. She could still remember their vicious words as they planned on how to use her while she kept praying for someone, perhaps a hero to come to her rescue. “Hey! Let her go!” Suddenly, someone roared out of the blue, and the men were forced to turn in the direction. Caroline also did and saw a man in his twenties clad in a military uniform. He had long hair that spread across his shoulder and some strands covered part of his face. Though she couldn't see his face completely, she was awed by his handsome features. The way he was built, the way he stood, his voice, everything stood out from all the men in this world. At that instance, she found herself in a trance, admiring this man to the point of drooling and even forgetting the situation was in. “Punk, who are you? This girl is ours! You better leave now, or we will blow your brains out!” The men said and pointed the muzzle of their guns at him. But then instantly, the man wearing the military uniform was no more, and next thing all the men holding guns were left sprawling on the floor. Each of them passed out and in a distorted state. “You are safe now!” He appeared again beside her, offering a helping hand so she could stand. After she did, she asked him for his name, but he only gave her a necklace before leaving. ____ Ever since then, her heart yearns for him, but fate never allowed her to meet him. Staring at the necklace, a smile appeared on her face and she spoke. “This is the only man I've ever loved and will ever love. This man saved me on the battlefield and ever since, my heart has been yearning for him.” She said and stood up. “I will never love you, August Reed! Never.” She snorted with disdain in her eyes. Meanwhile, while she was busy staring at the necklace and venting out her emotions, August's eyes widened in shock. He remembered that necklace. He was the one who gave it to her four years ago.Latest Chapter
Effect of the abyss Qi
August wasn't concerned about the two hundred men who came along with Dwayne. He and Davis might be outnumbered, but there wasn’t a single ounce of fear inside them. He wouldn’t mind fighting along with his master to bring them down. Dwayne knew the kind of effort it would take to bring him down; that was why he had arranged for this number of men to aid him. But if he thought he had the upper hand, then he was mistaken. “Lucas is dead?” Dwayne's face instantly changed as he heard this. Liking the view, August decided to infuriate him further. “Yes. He used the forbidden technique, thinking it was enough to kill me, but he was mistaken.” A deadly glint flashed in Dwayne's eyes for a while before it went away and was replaced with a smile. “As long as he carried out his mission properly, then I have no concern about his death.” He looked at August with a smirk before he continued. “I’m sure so many of your brothers have been killed and perhaps beheaded. I watched the video, a
August arrival
Davis hissed. It seemed he had no choice but to use the Abyss Qi. There was a reason why he hadn’t used it all this time, but it seemed this man was willing to push him to his limit. Since he had no intention of dying here, he had to risk it. Closing his eyes, he wanted to initiate the process when something quick happened. Like a phantom, a figure dashed through the air at an insane speed, and Raven, who was almost slicing Davis into two, was kicked in the jaw so hard that he flew off into the base and crashed into the building. The entire first floor was shattered into pieces by the attack, and since there was no longer a foundation holding the building, it collapsed from the top, down to the floor shattering into debris. The attack just now was so powerful that it caused such a monstrous impact. “Don’t you dare die on me, old man!” It was August. He stood in front of Davis after sending Raven flying away. His eyes never left where he sent him off to, as he knew that the attack
Going for the finishing blow
First, it seemed Raven had accepted the fact that he wasn’t stronger than him, but that didn’t mean anything since he had that elixir. It was like a magic potion, but its components weren't easy. It had a mixture of some sacred herbs and some relics, which had one purpose, and that was to boost one’s cultivation into a stronger level, even though it was temporary. It was like the opposite of a forbidden technique. While this process had an effect, the elixir didn't, and what was more, it lasted way longer than the forbidden technique. One could achieve the realm of the gods for just ten minutes. It might be a limited time, but it was more than enough to kill not just one man but a full army too. However, what Davis was more concerned about was how Raven got his hands on such a powerful liquor. It went without saying that he came prepared and might have more tricks up his sleeve. Davis knew he couldn’t keep acting all high and mighty anymore, or else this would be his doom.He had y
An elixir?
Meanwhile in country Vee.Davis Cole left the military base the next morning after making a few arrangements. He had a few scores to settle, and who knows what it might lead to in the end, but regardless, he was prepared for it, and his mind had been made up too.He called the other three generals to get their opinions on the ongoing matter but didn’t get a direct response. It could either be that they were bribed, threatened, or they might have been conniving with whatever was going on. Davis could go to their houses and interrogate them, but he didn’t feel like there was a need for it. The enemy was right in front of him, and the only thing he knew was to eliminate them once and for all. This wasn’t just for himself; it was for his sister who was August's mother too. It was time to step up to put this terrifying power to use. It was time to reclaim his throne as the most dangerous cultivator alive. After he got out, he tore a fabric in space as he wanted to look for Dwayne first.
Master Fu’s death
“Whatever August Reed has offered you, name the price and I will double it.” He added confidently.David and Alpha One looked at each other before looking back at him like he was the most foolish person they had ever seen. Did he actually think money could buy off their loyalty, or what? Was he in his right senses at all?“Your death is the price we need. We won’t leave anyone here alive.” David sneered in disgust before his eyes caught sight of a few people in uniforms hiding behind the counter. He sighed and quickly added, “Except them since they work here.” He added, referring to the workers.Master Fu's heart skipped a beat. Does this mean he had no way to bring these men to his side? Money always seemed to be like a master key to everyone’s heart, yet these people looked like they were immune to it, or what? Wasn’t this hilarious and pathetic?“I’ll give each of you five hundred thousand dollars. Come work for me instead. If you spare me, there will be more later on. What do yo
What do you two want?
“Tch! What are you waiting for? I dare you to come inside!” Master Fu roared again angrily. By now he could already guess whoever it was wasn’t August. That monster would have barged in by now regardless. But then, this person was acting sneaky, which was a total contrast to August's character. Besides, there was a carpet of spikes hung up at the top frame of the door. As soon as the enemy tried to walk in, on his signal, one of his men would unleash it on whoever it was for a deadly attack. He was prepared even though he didn’t have powerful experts for now. This place was more like his domain. Whoever stepped in had to die.“There is a back door after all!” Another voice spoke, and the next thing, a sound echoed from the back door. No one expected this as they never thought the attacker would go through there. The worst part was, he had to say it so boldly, like he was confident enough to walk in. “Aim your guns and shoot as soon as any living thing walks in.” Master Fu's eyes h
