“A divorce?” August repeated the words as he clenched his fist tightly. Though he could see she was trying to intimidate him into giving out what she wanted to hear but then, in no circumstances was he ready to part ways with her.
“I still love you. I won't agree to the divorce.” He said with a straight face, and she was forced to look at him. “Is that so? Then tell me the truth, or do you want to be forced to say it? Remember no one gives a damn about you and if you keep pushing me to the wall, you will hate it!” She said in a threatening tone. Although divorcing him wouldn't be that easy, not because she wasn't willing but because her grandmother who forced the marriage upon her just to subdue her wouldn’t want the divorce to go through. “It's better if you don't know. Moreover, it isn't like it will be beneficial to you.” August said helplessly. “So it's true, huh?” She suddenly said, and her hand flew to her mouth. Lately, she had been hearing rumors and his stubbornness had given it all out. If at all he was going for something that wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't have hesitated this much before giving it out. “What?” August raised a brow as her, trying to comprehend what she just said, and also the glint in her eyes told him otherwise. “Rumors have it that you are seeing someone behind my back. Tell me, even a cripple like you do cheat, huh? “Do I look like a weak, stupid, vulnerable woman who had no common sense to you? Or perhaps those casual girls one can find in a brothel? You think you can just keep me by the side while having other girls swooning all over you?” Caroline cried even harder and broke down on the floor. When her friend told her her husband was going to see a mistress who was he supporting financially, she couldn't believe it. At first, it never dawned on her that someone like August would have the audacity to see another woman beside her. Now, she was able to connect all the dots. The tens of thousands of dollars that had been missing for a month was used to take care of another woman. The thought of this made her feel like hitting her head on the wall to vent her anger. This pain in her chest was just so consuming. She felt used, toyed with, and taken for a fool and worst of it was by a crippled man. What would become of her now? Her friends laughed and called her several names, but she condemned their words saying it was all false accusations only for it to turn out to be true. Damn it! She cried even more loudly. “Caroline, no! Who told you that?” August couldn't help but feel angered by this. Who dared poison his wife's mind with such nonsense? No one was as beautiful as her. She was like a crystal moon that brightened his life and no woman on this earth was comparable to her. Even a single bit! “Caroline, those are all rumors. Don't cry, please. I swear I am not seeing any woman.” He said with bitterness in his heart and wheeled his chair towards her but she quickly crawled meters away from him. “Stay away from me! Don't come any closer! I hate you!” She yelled in frustration. Her eyes and cheeks had turned swollen due to the excessive cry, and it didn't look like she would stop anytime soon. “Caroline,” he called out nevertheless. Her words cut in so deep into his chest like a dagger, but it was better he consoled her than watching her cry which was much more heartbreaking. “I swear on my late mother, I am not seeing another woman,” August said but the more he spoke, the more his words sounded more of an excuse to her. Sniff! Sniff! “I don't want a man who has nothing to offer but instead depends on a woman. I want a man, I want a hero, someone who I can depend on, someone who can tell me e everything will be alright, someone who can hold my hands and promise me a good future.” She finally said after crying for a while. She then sniffed hard to control her tears before pulling out a necklace she had been keeping hidden in her pocket. The necklace was a simple emerald necklace, but it was worth so much in her heart. Just then her memories drifted back to three years ago. She was on a business trip heading to another town when several armed men ambushed her car. After seeing them, she realized a war had broken out in the area, and she had mistakenly found herself driving on a battlefield. However, there wasn't a way out of this anymore. She watched how the men approached her intending to toy with her before killing her off. As the men approached her, she felt miserable. They dragged her out of her car and threw her to the floor. She could still remember their vicious words as they planned on how to use her while she kept praying for someone, perhaps a hero to come to her rescue. “Hey! Let her go!” Suddenly, someone roared out of the blue, and the men were forced to turn in the direction. Caroline also did and saw a man in his twenties clad in a military uniform. He had long hair that spread across his shoulder and some strands covered part of his face. Though she couldn't see his face completely, she was awed by his handsome features. The way he was built, the way he stood, his voice, everything stood out from all the men in this world. At that instance, she found herself in a trance, admiring this man to the point of drooling and even forgetting the situation was in. “Punk, who are you? This girl is ours! You better leave now, or we will blow your brains out!” The men said and pointed the muzzle of their guns at him. But then instantly, the man wearing the military uniform was no more, and next thing all the men holding guns were left sprawling on the floor. Each of them passed out and in a distorted state. “You are safe now!” He appeared again beside her, offering a helping hand so she could stand. After she did, she asked him for his name, but he only gave her a necklace before leaving. ____ Ever since then, her heart yearns for him, but fate never allowed her to meet him. Staring at the necklace, a smile appeared on her face and she spoke. “This is the only man I've ever loved and will ever love. This man saved me on the battlefield and ever since, my heart has been yearning for him.” She said and stood up. “I will never love you, August Reed! Never.” She snorted with disdain in her eyes. Meanwhile, while she was busy staring at the necklace and venting out her emotions, August's eyes widened in shock. He remembered that necklace. He was the one who gave it to her four years ago.Latest Chapter
Let the preparation begin
There was a certain joy in his heart as he spoke. He had already promised her a grand wedding, one that would shake the entire world itself. He owed it to her. All the pain, all the suffering, had now come to an end. She deserved to be given the best life ever in this world. And he would make sure of that before their kid was born. Both Lucian and Auren smiled at his words and couldn’t help but be a bit jealous. Caroline was able to soften this man's heart and move him to this point. No one except her could be able to achieve it, and for that, they commended her for it.“Here, take this card and make preparations. I need a wedding with a budget of a billion or more. Make it perfect and the best!” August pushed his card to them. Though it wasn’t like he expected them to do it as they were based in a different field, they had many connections and would be able to handle it in a short period. “Come on, why are you giving us your bank card?” Auren pushed the card back to him with a
In this lifetime and every other one
The place was silent after August left. No one said anything, as they were still in shock, trying to process the whole thing and wondering how things had turned out this way. How did August become so strong and was able to bring down Michael so easily? Should they call this a mistake, or perhaps reality was playing tricks on them, or what? This couldn't be real, right?“Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”Just then, a voice roared so loudly that it echoed throughout the room and even trembled the building. Even Michael, who was passed out, had to wake up from wherever his consciousness had gone. His body jerked, and the first thing he caught was the sight of two elders towering around him. His eyes widened and it suddenly dawned on him that indeed he had been dragged back to the base, the place where he had turned into his paradise, but now it was more like a hell. “How does it feel to be on the floor and look so weak and pathetic?” The figure who yelled walked further and stood right above hi

“What’s that sound? Is it an earthquake or what?” Both elders looked at each other with widened eyes, as such a thing had never happened before.“Or are we under attack?” The other asked, equally shocked. They became stuck in their heads, trying to figure it out, when Alpha One said something surprising. “It’s him!” He said, his gaze fixed on the concrete rooftop as though he could see through it. Hearing this, Lily stood up, eyes widened, and filled with hope. “You mean August?” She asked to be certain.“Yes. He’s here. He has indeed kept his promise.” A smile emerged on his lips. “You mean he has killed that old fog?” Lily asked what she badly wanted even if she could exchange her life for it. “I’m not sure. But we will find out soon!” Alpha One merely replied. “You two, what are you talking about?” The two elders were infuriated. Their faces were distorted as they roared at them, seemingly not liking what they were hearing, and never would they wish for it to be true. “It
He has kicked the bucket
It was August. Michael had thought he was no more or perhaps nothing but minced flesh, but he was mistaken. The man was still unscathed, which meant he wasn’t in the range of the attacks just now. Who could have thought that he had torn a fabric in space, walked out of it, and had now returned just when Michael expended his energy and was down to his knees. It was such good timing indeed. Michael was still frozen in shock as he stared at him. It was just too much for him to process. The whole place was now wrecked with so many potholes, debris scattered around, and the trees that were standing tall and strong were nothing but a pile of chunk pieces on the floor. Not just that, the remnants of flesh, skull, and skeletons, were reduced to almost nothing. The feeling of death, how eerie the place was before the mist dissolved, was even worse. As August stood in the middle of all this, he was awed by the level of damage Michael's attack was able to inflict on the surroundings. Even t
How can this be?
August had once read in books that there was a certain level one could reach in cultivation where you could manipulate Qi to align with the nature you are compatible with. He used to think getting to such a level was impossible for now, but it seems he was mistaken. Not only had he met someone who could change their Qi nature, but that man was his uncle and his sworn enemy. The lightning strikes were very violent, with August caught in the middle. He felt like his skin was going to be shattered by the destructive force, and there came a paralysis effect with it. In just a few seconds, he was reduced to his knees. The ground beneath his feet now had holes and cracks in it, and he knew if the attack was to continue, then surely he might be buried with it. Soon, the attack stopped, but the damage it had done was just too much. August's skin was nearly scorched black. He remained there on the floor, unable to move, as his entire body felt numb and weak. “The attack didn’t kill you?
Let’s end this once and for all
Meanwhile in Elyria. Michael had just yelled out instinctively as he walked further just to scare August off and buy some time before he arrived at where he felt he might be. It was quite hard to use flash steps to rush over, as the palace had a strong presence of energy, and also, it was rather very tricky too. There was no response. He shouted a couple of times, yet there was nothing. His heart immediately sank. He was beginning to have an ominous premonition, so immediately he increased his pace, heading towards the middle. However, just then, something shocking happened. The mist that was so dense in the area suddenly began to turn lighter and lighter to the point that they were no longer visible. The path ahead could be seen clearly now. There might be a few awful things on the floor, but that didn’t matter. What Michael was concerned about was August. He immediately took off running towards the chasm he saw up ahead. By the time he got there, there was no sign of mist anymor
