The orange warning lights flashed wildly across the reactor room as the digital timer on the main wall counted down from ten minutes.

Julian kept his rifle raised, his eyes darting between Commander Zara Bello, the traitorous pirate Viktor, and the bleeding form of Lord Vane on the floor. The air grew hotter by the second, and the low, heavy rumble of the unstable core vibrated straight up through their boots.

"You brought us right into a suicide trap, Zara," Julian said, his voice hard and steady as he tightened his grip on his weapon.

Zara did not look worried at all. She adjusted the collar of her black military coat, keeping her cold blue eyes fixed on the master control console. "Lord Vane was a fool to build this reactor on an automated thermal trigger, but the secondary core can be stopped. We just need the master decryption key."

Viktor laughed, stepping forward with his assault rifle resting lazily against his shoulder. He pointed the barrel toward Maya, who stood completely calm beside the central computer console. "Hand over the decryption key, little girl. You might be good at hacking bank accounts, but you cannot outrun a nuclear blast in these mountains."

Maya looked at Viktor with pure disdain. She did not raise her voice, nor did she show a single ounce of fear. Instead, a sharp, cold smile touched the corners of her lips as she tapped her phone screen twice.

"You think I came into this room without a backup plan?" Maya asked softly.

Before Viktor could answer, the heavy steel exit doors behind the Shadow Vanguard guards suddenly dropped shut with a loud metallic crash, trapping Zara and Viktor's men inside the inner core chamber.

Viktor spun around, staring at the closed doors in disbelief. "What is this? Open the bulkheads!"

"You forgot that I downloaded the entire facility layout when we hacked the maintenance tunnel," Maya said, her fingers dancing across her phone screen at lightning speed. "The moment your men stepped inside, I locked every exit. This room is now completely sealed from the outside world."

Zara's calm expression finally cracked, replaced by a flash of genuine anger. She drew her glowing energy swords with a sharp hiss. "You trapped yourself in here with us, Maya. You cannot stop the countdown alone."

"I am not alone," Maya replied.

Beside her, Commander Eleanor Vance stepped forward, drawing her silver dagger and leveling a cold stare at Zara. "The Shadow Vanguard was built on honor and the protection of the innocent. You sold out our mission for power, Zara. Your faction dies here today."

Old Man Marrow let out a rough laugh, dropping into a fighting stance with his iron pipe gripped tightly in both hands. "I have lived long enough to see a few traitors get what they deserve. Let us finish this."

Julian looked at his sister, feeling a deep surge of pride and trust. They had fought through five hundred years of pain and betrayal to reach this exact moment. There was no turning back, and there was no mercy left for their enemies.

"Take them down," Julian said.

The battle exploded across the reactor room in a blur of motion.

Zara lunged forward, her glowing energy swords clashing against Eleanor's silver dagger with a blinding shower of sparks. The two women moved with incredible speed, trading blow after blow as the heat in the room continued to rise.

Viktor roared in anger, raising his assault rifle to fire, but Marrow moved faster than his weathered frame suggested. Marrow swung his heavy iron pipe hard, striking Viktor across the arm and knocking the gun out of his hands before it could discharge.

Viktor cursed, throwing a heavy punch that caught Marrow on the shoulder, sending the old man staggering back against a metal pillar.

Julian did not hesitate. He closed the distance in two fast strides, tackling Viktor to the ground and pinning the pirate captain beneath his knees. He struck Viktor across the face with the butt of his tactical rifle, knocking the man unconscious in a single, decisive move.

On the raised observation platform, Maya ignored the chaos around her. Her eyes were fixed entirely on the master control console. The digital countdown on the wall now read four minutes and twenty seconds.

Lord Vane dragged himself across the floor, reaching out with his bleeding hand toward Maya's ankle. "You cannot save this city... the system will destroy everything..."

Maya kicked out, pushing the old tyrant away without even looking down at him. She typed the final sequence of override codes into the console, her face a mask of absolute focus.

"Override accepted," the automated speaker announced in a calm, mechanical voice.

The flashing orange warning lights suddenly turned a steady, peaceful green. The deep, violent rumble of the reactor core began to slow down, fading into a quiet, normal hum.

Across the room, Zara paused her attack as she saw the countdown timer freeze and disappear from the wall. The nuclear threat was completely gone.

Eleanor used the distraction to sweep her leg out, tripping Zara and sending the rebel commander crashing hard against the metal floor. Eleanor pressed the tip of her silver dagger directly against Zara's throat.

"It is over, Zara," Eleanor said, breathing heavily. "Your war ends here."

Zara stared up at the ceiling, her chest heaving as she realized she had lost. The alliance was shattered, her soldiers were trapped behind locked steel doors, and the empire she wanted to control was completely gone.

Julian stood up from where he had pinned Viktor, walking over to stand beside Maya at the main console. He looked down at the screens, watching as the final ownership transfers of New Oxford locked into place. Every single asset, building, and legal right belonging to the Vance family and the corrupt syndicates was now officially under their control.

The nightmare of the past was finally broken. They had survived the time loops, outsmarted the most dangerous enemies in the city, and claimed their ultimate revenge.

"We did it," Julian whispered, looking down at his sister with a warm, genuine smile.

Maya turned to look at him, the cold, calculating mask melting away to reveal the deep love and bond they shared. She smiled back, leaning against his shoulder as the quiet hum of the secure reactor filled the room.

"We are finally free, big brother," Maya said softly.

Suddenly, the massive steel doors at the main entrance of the reactor room did not open—they vanished entirely in a blinding flash of golden light that filled the entire chamber.
