Chapter 2

Jaxon went to a college with elite students. The students there were so wealthy that they never cared about anyone who got a scholarship. According to them, people who get such waivers are only poor people who cannot afford to pay and are willing to be used by the campus.

The students couldn't believe the campus had changed the Student of the Year selection criteria for the first time in history. Until now, only the most remarkable and accomplished students got it. They also generally come from the upper class.

But this was different with Jaxon. He was indeed a handsome man; most of the female students recognised that. It was just that Jaxon's reputation could have been better. He was notoriously geeky and destitute. Those two things made the upper-class girls feel embarrassed and reluctant to approach Jaxon. Not to mention Jaxon was always the object of jokes from a group of other famous students who had a tremendous influence on campus.

"Hey, look at that nerd. He doesn't deserve the title of Student of the Year!"

Some students were very upset about it. The men on campus were fed up when they heard that Miley, a senior student, was rumoured to be in a relationship with Jaxon.

The rumours had been circulating for at least three to four months. While the upper-level students feared being blamed for approaching Jaxon, one person didn't care.

Miley was one of the exceptions. Jaxon was approached several times by lower-middle-class girls, but they easily stayed away, fearing trouble because Jaxon was often the target of wealthy students.

Miley does admire Jaxon's good looks, but her love for money trumps everything. According to Miley, handsome men are easy to find, but not all have money. It's just a different situation if the girl is cornered.

"Jaxon, can I sit here?"

"I brought you a drink."

Jaxon, who was directly reprimanded by one of the most beautiful female students on campus, felt confused. Even he was silent for a while, not knowing how to answer.

Jaxon realised that the girl stared at him from a distance several times, but he never thought Miley was watching him. A girl as beautiful as Miley was known to date many guys on campus, and Jaxon was different from the guys Miley had dated.

"Ah, of course, please. K-the seats are indeed empty," responded a nervous and slightly stammering Jaxon.

"Just relax, your face looks pale, and your ears look red," Miley said, which made Jaxon even more awkward. The girl then gave him the drink she was holding and sat next to Jaxon.

That introduction was the beginning of their meeting. Miley approached Jaxon through her college assignments. At the beginning of the meeting, Jaxon was already presented with some of Miley's assignments. The girl seemed so intelligent and cunning that she blamed Jaxon, then only replied with compliments and brief flirting.

Miley has been determined to date Jaxon for the past few months. The girl approached Jaxon because she was very behind in college. This is her final year. If Miley does not graduate soon, then the college will expel Miley from the university.

One alternative way for Miley to finish her studies is to date the university's most intelligent Student. The easy target falls on Jaxon.

Miley deliberately approached Jaxon with various seductions and occasionally teased him sensually. All this was done because Miley wanted immediate results, and the girl had little time left.

The touched Jaxon eventually fell for Miley's love trick. He remembers when Miley confessed her feelings with a glass of his favourite drink that Miley always brought him whenever they met.

"Jaxon, I've been sending you a lot of signals. You seem to ignore my feelings. I've been waiting and giving you time to express your feelings. Because I know you feel the same way."

Miley took Jaxon's hand. She said, "Times are too modern. Not only men can do it, but women can too. Jaxon, I won't force you, but I want to hear your yes. Will you be my lover?"

Cornered by Miley's pushy love, Jaxon has no choice but to say yes. Jaxon had seen Miley's kindness for some time and liked it. But unfortunately, Jaxon doesn't know that Miley never really loved him.

Jaxon was deceived by the seduction and all the sweet words spoken by Miley. Even though during the dating period, the girl did not try to make Jaxon happy at all. Miley didn't even hold Jaxon's hand or want to be seen with Jaxon in public.

Jaxon and Miley were often seen together in the library. In the room, there is a silent witness of their dating locations. Miley always invites Jaxon to meet and date in class or the library.

While dating Miley, Jaxon was always busy with a pile of final assignments from the girl. But Jaxon never complained; instead, he enjoyed every time Miley gave him a smile to compliment him. The girl even touched him occasionally.

Jaxon was proud that he thought he had the perfect life partner. Miley was one of the prettiest and most popular girls in school. Jaxon never expected a girl like her to have a passion for learning. That added to the impression of a perfect wife-to-be in Jaxon's eyes.

Sometimes when they are on a date or studying together, some students find the two together. Not a few of the students asked Miley directly about their relationship. But the girl did not respond; Miley just smiled and laughed.

Miley's indecisive behaviour certainly made people gossip more about their relationship. The rumours quickly made one of Miley's last ex-boyfriends furious.

The man who still loves Miley doesn't accept that he was dumped so easily. Moreover, Miley replaced himself with Jaxon, famously poor on campus. Thinking about it made him even more furious. The man then rewarded Jaxon, who had snatched Miley from him.

In the back garden of the college, in the afternoon, Jaxon was on a date with Miley. The girl acted so spoilt in front of Jaxon, who was doing her final project. But the happy portrait instantly changes when a man comes and suddenly kicks Jaxon from behind.

"Argh, damn it," complained Jaxon, who fell off the chair while holding his hip.

"What are you muttering, poor man? Do you want to challenge me?" said the man with an angry face.

"Hey mate, calm down. I'm just babbling incoherently. It's nothing you need to take to heart," Jaxon responded, not wanting to prolong the matter.

But the man, already burning with jealousy, did not want to stop there. As a result, he immediately punched Jaxon.

SMASH!

Miley, who witnessed all of this, panicked; the girl did not want to get involved in a meaningless dispute. Her heart told her to run away, but her logic told her to stay.

"Julian, stop your behaviour, or I'll call the police immediately!"

The man was Julian, a wealthy student in Miley's department. He then stopped the action and glared at Miley.

"What do you see in a poor man like him? Has my affection been lacking all this time? Is my money not enough to fulfil your lifestyle?"

Miley boldly responded, "Julian, you have no right to control any man I meet because we no longer have any relationship. I'm tired of your temper."

"Who says I'm dating a poor guy like Jaxon anyway? If the lecturers don't recommend him, I wouldn't want to be around him either."

That sentence was like a thunderbolt in the middle of the day. Jaxon's heart sank when he heard it. He had been happy when he saw Miley defending him. But Miley's words made Jaxon self-conscious.

"Miley, do you think that about me?" Jaxon muttered softly.
