"His...his bones are not broken?....." Avery stuttered and immediately took the equipment away from her colleagues as she looked at it.
The expression on Avery's face was changing with each second. It went from surprise, shock, confusion. After a while, Avery took in a deep breath and then looked at Ryder, then back at the machine. She just couldn't understand what was happening. After all, when Ryder was rushed to the hospital, he looked half dead, and his bones were broken. She had thought that even if he was to survive, he was going to spend at least a year on the hospital bed and this gave her a lot of worries. But now, the machine she was looking showrd that her brother was perfectly fine and there was nothing wrong with his limbs. This confused her greatly and though she was supposed to be happy Ryder was fine, she felt a little bit lost and raised her head to look at him again. "Sister, you don't have to look worried, maybe it was the machine that gave the wrong readings." Ryder forced a smile knowing well what the truth was. But there was no way he could tell his sister the truth. After all, this was supposed to stay with him and he was to take it to the grave. Avery stared at her Ryder for a while and didn't know what to say. She just couldn't believe her eyes and even though she wanted to believe what she was seeing on the machine, she still didn't want to believe it. "Sister, could you stop staring at me that way, it's making me uncomfortable," Ryder muttered slowly, his voice snapping Avery out of her shock. "Alright brother, but tell me, how did you do it?" Avery agreed, walking towards Ryder, still staring at him suspiciously. "What are you talking about sister?" Ryder feigned confusion, staring at his sister. "By the way, can you remove the badges on my body?" Ryder continued, changing the topic. "It's making it hard for me to move." He added. "Sorry about that." Avery nodded quickly and then proceeded to remove the bandage on Ryder. "Finally." Ryder sighed, flexing his arms and legs. It was as though they had never been broken before. "Ma'am, I don't think there's anything wrong with him anymore." One of the doctors, still reading the machine, walked over to Avery, who was standing beside Ryder. "Then let's discharge him." Avery stated, feeling a bit relieved. After all, the hospital bill was naturally going to fall on her since she was the eldest. she couldn't trouble her brother too much. Besides, he was a police officer, so his salary was not enough to take care of it. So now that he was fine, there was no need to make him stay at the hospital any longer. "Sister, how many days have I been unconscious?" Ryder asked, turning to his sister. "You've been out cold for about three days." Avery thought for a while and answered. "Damn!" Ryder cursed under his breath. This was not good in any way. Today was the deadline his superior gave him to capture the criminals. It seemed like he was going to have to set everything aside first and go ahead to arrest them. "Sister, where's my uniform?" Ryder turned to his sister, realizing that he was in a hospital gown. "Your uniform has been soaked with blood by the time you were brought in. Also, it was torn, so I've discarded it for you." Avery replied, paused for a while, and then continued. "But I went to your apartment and brought some random clothes for you to change into when you wake up, though I didn't know you would wake up so quickly." "By the way, why are you looking for your uniform, where are you going?" Avery narrowed her eyes, staring suspiciously at Ryder. "Sister, you won't understand." Ryder shook his head and jumped out of the bed. The other doctors had already left the ward, thus leaving Avery and Ryder alone. "I know you're worried and want to report to your workplace about what happened, but at least you could call your superior and inform him about what happened," Avery said slowly, observing Ryder, who had already pulled off the hospital gown and was wearing the clothes she had brought him. "That's not it sister. You won't understand." Ryder shook his head refusing to say anything. "I don't know the rules of your workplace, but I know you won't be punished once you present your medical reports?" Avery continued, seeing that Ryder was not listening to her. "Also, I'm sure that they would help you look for the culprit and make sure to deal with whoever had beaten you up, as it's an offense." Ryder smiled hearing the worry in his sister's voice, but there was no way he was going to listen to her this time. Also, he needed to try out what was going to happen once he completed all the missions given to him by the system. Besides, with the help of his system, he would be able to enact justice. No criminals in the world would be able to escape his iron fist of justice. "If you are not going to listen to me, how about you have a meal before you go?" Avery suddenly suggested, seeing that Ryder was not listening to her. "You don't have to worry, sis; I'll get something to eat on the way." Ryder rejected Avery's offer without a second thought. Besides, he didn't trust his sister. Since she wanted him to stay back, she might add sleeping pills to the food so that he was going to be able to sleep and rest. "But...." "How about this sister?" Ryder interrupted Avery seeing the sad look on her face. "I'll come to your house tonight and have dinner with you," Ryder suggested. "That'll be nice." Avery agreed almost immediately. "Since that's the case, I'll be taking my leave." Ryder smiled widely and dashed out of the door. "I love you, sister!" Ryder's voice came just right after, and Avery couldn't help but shake her head; a smile appeared on her face. After a while, she shook her head, picked the hospital gown Ryder had pulled off, and walked out of the ward.Latest Chapter

"Ryder, it's been a while," Henry's hoarse voice came from the other end of the phone."Yes it is," Ryder chuckled, knowing he was calling to congratulate him."Ryder," Selena's voice also sounded as she called,"How have you been?" She asked, her tone filled with concern."I'm good," Ryder responded. He heated conversations like this, but there was absolutely nothing he could do about it, so he could only wait to hear what they had to say."We heard about what you did," Selena said, the concern in her voice increased."And I just say you've done a good job," She continued, complimenting him."The higher ups have taken notice of you and I'm sure soon enough you'll be promoted and transferred," Henry chuckled, chipping in.Ryder's eyes flashed with a glint hearing this. That was just perfect for what he wanted. Also, he understood what Henry was implying. His actions this time nearly exposed some certain individuals, thus they would transfer him so he would stop being able to have infl
Judgement
(Three Days Later)"Brother, brother, you've become a celebrity in Orange County, everyone is praising you saying you did the right thing," Jasmine grinned, rushing to meet Ryder who was sprawled on the sofa."That's good," Ryder muttered weakly, nodding at Jasmine who came to show him something.Jasmine frowned seeing the weak Ryder. Well, there was no need to be shocked, she knew just how tiring the day before was to Ryder. At first she and Fiona wanted to head to the courthouse to watch the judgement, but seeing how stressful it was, she balled leaving only Fiona since she had to bring Ryder back.In the end, the two came back in a disheveled state and she wondered how Ryder was up already since Fiona was still snoring her life away.Ryder on the other hand wasn't in the mood to talk. It wasn't that he was that tired, but at the moment, his mind was processing a lot of things. The Brown family nearly ended Andrew and Jake on their way to the courthouse.Say if not for his driving

(The Next Day)"Brother, what happened the night before? Aunt Olivia seemed to enter our rooms multiple times as if to check up on us," Jasmine and Fiona approached Ryder who was about to head to the station."There was a robber, so I asked her to keep an eye on you to make sure you were safe," Ryder explained, lying without batting an eye."Ohhhh," Fiona and Jasmine muttered, nodded, then headed back to continue to slack off."Off to the station," Ryder announced walking out of the villa, wondering what surprises would be waiting for him.In no time, he got to the station. The moment he got to the door, the officers surrounded him almost immediately as if they were waiting for him."Sir," One of them called, his head down, the others Aldi didn't dare look at Ryder."Why haven't you all gone back home to rest?" Ryder raised his brows wondering why those on the night shift haven't left."Sir, something happened after you left," the officer gathered his courage and reported."What happe
Trap
Ryder on the other hand pulled out his phone the moment he walked out of the Police station. He had just gone to see what state Andrew was in. He absolutely wasn't expecting the Brown's family secret to fall into his hands.Well, this was good now. He had Initially planned to call the Brown family, now he had more reasons to call them. There were quite a number of things he wanted to say to them.Dialing the number that called him that afternoon, the call was soon answered,"Hello old man, hope you're having a wonderful night," Ryder chuckled speaking first.Ethan at the other end froze almost immediately, eyes nearly popping out of his sockets as he stood up abruptly.Jackie who was sitting not too far from Ethan stood up instantly wondering who the heck had the guts to anger the old man.But since the family had a lot of enemies, he didn't think too much about it as he knew it had to be one of their enemies. After all, there was almost nothing that could rile up the old man except
Story
"Sir!" The officers on night duty rushed to assist Ryder the moment he stepped into the station with the assassin and the sniper rifle."Throw him into the cell," Ryder ordered letting the officers restrict the man as they dragged him to the cell.He then took the rifle into his office. Now he had a gun. As for the assassin, a smile etched on his face as he seemed to know the man's fate, but there was no need to think about it."Sir, what happened?" The officers gathered around Ryder the moment he stepped out of his office."That idiot tried to snipe me, but unluckily, he was caught," Ryder shrugged, acting like he just didn't face mortal danger.Though if the bullet had hit him, he wouldn't have died. He had the rejuvenating pill, coupled with the fact that he was a cultivator, even though his powers were not that advanced yet, he still wasn't going to die that easily.Seemed like he would need to increase the time he used to cultivate. Caught
He was pretty confident the assassin wouldn't have left. The bullet he flicked towards the assassin was imbued with his Qi.So even if it didn't directly hit him, it would at least scare him. In a case of direct hit, he would drop dead immediately.Dashing out of the villa, Ryder immediately headed towards the spot. The villa was in the midst of other villas and most importantly, Scarlett or what was her name lived in the villa right next to his.Though he wasn't sure if she had packed out after the incident. But that wasn't the main purpose. On the roof of the villa right next to Ryder's, a man dressed in black holding a set up sniper wiped away the blood on his cheeks.Just now, right after Ryder counter attacked, he managed to evade the first bullet, but wasn't so lucky to evade the second one which came right immediately after the first one.He had only managed to evade it and in the end, it grazed his cheeks.Muttering angrily, he looked back at the Villa, wanting to finish off e
