"His...his bones are not broken?....." Avery stuttered and immediately took the equipment away from her colleagues as she looked at it.

The expression on Avery's face was changing with each second. It went from surprise, shock, confusion.

After a while, Avery took in a deep breath and then looked at Ryder, then back at the machine.

She just couldn't understand what was happening. After all, when Ryder was rushed to the hospital, he looked half dead, and his bones were broken.

She had thought that even if he was to survive, he was going to spend at least a year on the hospital bed and this gave her a lot of worries.

But now, the machine she was looking showrd that her brother was perfectly fine and there was nothing wrong with his limbs.

This confused her greatly and though she was supposed to be happy Ryder was fine, she felt a little bit lost and raised her head to look at him again.

"Sister, you don't have to look worried, maybe it was the machine that gave the wrong readings." Ryder forced a smile knowing well what the truth was.

But there was no way he could tell his sister the truth. After all, this was supposed to stay with him and he was to take it to the grave.

Avery stared at her Ryder for a while and didn't know what to say. She just couldn't believe her eyes and even though she wanted to believe what she was seeing on the machine, she still didn't want to believe it.

"Sister, could you stop staring at me that way, it's making me uncomfortable," Ryder muttered slowly, his voice snapping Avery out of her shock.

"Alright brother, but tell me, how did you do it?" Avery agreed, walking towards Ryder, still staring at him suspiciously.

"What are you talking about sister?" Ryder feigned confusion, staring at his sister.

"By the way, can you remove the badges on my body?" Ryder continued, changing the topic.

"It's making it hard for me to move." He added.

"Sorry about that." Avery nodded quickly and then proceeded to remove the bandage on Ryder.

"Finally." Ryder sighed, flexing his arms and legs. It was as though they had never been broken before.

"Ma'am, I don't think there's anything wrong with him anymore." One of the doctors, still reading the machine, walked over to Avery, who was standing beside Ryder.

"Then let's discharge him." Avery stated, feeling a bit relieved.

After all, the hospital bill was naturally going to fall on her since she was the eldest. she couldn't trouble her brother too much.

Besides, he was a police officer, so his salary was not enough to take care of it.

So now that he was fine, there was no need to make him stay at the hospital any longer.

"Sister, how many days have I been unconscious?" Ryder asked, turning to his sister.

"You've been out cold for about three days." Avery thought for a while and answered.

"Damn!" Ryder cursed under his breath.

This was not good in any way. Today was the deadline his superior gave him to capture the criminals.

It seemed like he was going to have to set everything aside first and go ahead to arrest them.

"Sister, where's my uniform?" Ryder turned to his sister, realizing that he was in a hospital gown.

"Your uniform has been soaked with blood by the time you were brought in. Also, it was torn, so I've discarded it for you." Avery replied, paused for a while, and then continued.

"But I went to your apartment and brought some random clothes for you to change into when you wake up, though I didn't know you would wake up so quickly."

"By the way, why are you looking for your uniform, where are you going?" Avery narrowed her eyes, staring suspiciously at Ryder.

"Sister, you won't understand." Ryder shook his head and jumped out of the bed.

The other doctors had already left the ward, thus leaving Avery and Ryder alone.

"I know you're worried and want to report to your workplace about what happened, but at least you could call your superior and inform him about what happened," Avery said slowly, observing Ryder, who had already pulled off the hospital gown and was wearing the clothes she had brought him.

"That's not it sister. You won't understand." Ryder shook his head refusing to say anything.

"I don't know the rules of your workplace, but I know you won't be punished once you present your medical reports?" Avery continued, seeing that Ryder was not listening to her.

"Also, I'm sure that they would help you look for the culprit and make sure to deal with whoever had beaten you up, as it's an offense."

Ryder smiled hearing the worry in his sister's voice, but there was no way he was going to listen to her this time.

Also, he needed to try out what was going to happen once he completed all the missions given to him by the system.

Besides, with the help of his system, he would be able to enact justice. No criminals in the world would be able to escape his iron fist of justice.

"If you are not going to listen to me, how about you have a meal before you go?" Avery suddenly suggested, seeing that Ryder was not listening to her.

"You don't have to worry, sis; I'll get something to eat on the way." Ryder rejected Avery's offer without a second thought.

Besides, he didn't trust his sister. Since she wanted him to stay back, she might add sleeping pills to the food so that he was going to be able to sleep and rest.

"But...."

"How about this sister?" Ryder interrupted Avery seeing the sad look on her face.

"I'll come to your house tonight and have dinner with you," Ryder suggested.

"That'll be nice." Avery agreed almost immediately.

"Since that's the case, I'll be taking my leave." Ryder smiled widely and dashed out of the door.

"I love you, sister!" Ryder's voice came just right after, and Avery couldn't help but shake her head; a smile appeared on her face.

After a while, she shook her head, picked the hospital gown Ryder had pulled off, and walked out of the ward.

  • No Law

"Brother, you've got a big house," Jasmine marvelled, staring at the Villa the moment they pulled up right before it."Don't give me that, weren't you the one who gave it to me?" Ryder rolled his eyes at Jasmine alighting from the car with her."I didn't know the house you wanted to buy was this beautiful," Jasmine pouted walking towards the door with Ryder who pulled out his keys and unlocked the door."Home sweet home," Ryder muttered, walking into the Villa with a smile. He wondered how Fiona was doing. He hoped the little girl had just starved herself to death. He knew she might be shy, but he hoped she just got something to eat. He had some foodstuffs, as he had bought them after moving into the house."Arghhhh!"Jasmine's terrified scream came causing Ryder to turn around sharply."Brother, look, there's an intruder!" Jasmine screamed, pointing at Olivia who was sitting at the dining room, eating noddles."She's not an intruder," Ryder chuckled, walking over to Olivia who sat st

  • Not Good

Walking into the seemingly uncompleted building on the surface, the three were taken aback by what they saw inside the building. The building, which looked rather incomplete on the outside, was actually well furnished on the inside. There were a lot of waiting chairs, and about five elevators going down into the underground. At the side was a large table and chair and sitting on it were about five hefty men heavily armed. Ryder, Selena, and Henry frowned slightly seeing this. It seemed like the Brown family really took their business rather seriously. If this set of five men were armed, then what about the rest? They were sure there were other guards around, just in case someone wanted to try something. "Please, your tickets," A feminine voice came, pulling the three out of their thoughts. Looking up, they came face to face with a young lady in high heels and skimpy clothes, chewing gum as she stretched out her hands. Without any delay, Ryder gave the lady his ticket. Selena an

  • Alright, I'll Leave

Everyone watched as the taxi drove along the road, all holding their breaths. The group had already arrived at the store Ryder stated and were checking out its surveillance footage with the help of the staff. Soon, the vehicle drove past the limits of the camera and disappeared. "Esteemed sirs, I don't think there's a security camera down the lane the taxi drove to," The attendant helping the group spoke, looking over at them. "Yeah, I know about that," Ryder nodded. He was very familiar with Orange County and as a police man would parade most of the places. So he knew about almost all the security cameras. "Thanks for your cooperation, we'll leave now," Henry thanked the man and then the group turned around, leaving the store. "What's the next thing we do?" Selena inquired the moment they stepped out of the store. If there were no security Cameras anymore, then the next thing was to find the cab and interrogate whoever was driving it. But that was going to take a wh

  • Get Lost

"Can you pass the phone to Henry?" Ryder requested the instant Selena answered the call. "Sure," Selena agreed, though she was shocked as she didn't understand what was wrong.. "Hello," Came Henry's voice from the other end of the phone. "I'm not sure, but I think I could use your help for something critical," Ryder stated, going straight to the point. He didn't have much time any more. He needed to know what was wrong with Fiona. If she has run off on her own, then it was fine. But if she was abducted, then there was a need to rush. Those men would have done some stuff to her and he wouldn't be able to take it. "What do you need my help for?" Henry frowned slightly, feeling the urgency in Rdyer's voice. "I think someone has been abducted, I need to trace her before it's too late," Ryder revealed, then told Henry what had happened. "If that's the case, we need to hurry up," Henry replied, his tone was also serious. "Meet us at the mall, we'll start right away. This can't be d
