The Purifier System

System Activated

"Mmmmm," Ryder muttered as his eyes flashed open. The next moment, he looked around wanting to jump, but a smearing pain passed through his body, stopping him from acting recklessly.

Calming down a bit, Ryder sat up slowly and looked around. Much to his shock, he was in a hospital bed. His legs and arms were covered with bandages making it difficult to move.

Also, he was the only one in the ward making it difficult for him to sit down due to the pains since there was no one to help him up.

"Ding!"

"The host is awake. Commencing full recovery."

A mechanical voice rang in Ryder's head just when he was wondering what was happening.

The next moment, Ryder felt a warm stream of energy flow into his body and soon, all the pain in his body disappeared. He could feel his limbs once again.

"What the heck was that?" Ryder muttered, his eyes darting around looking around for the source of the voice.

"Recovery completed," The mechanical voice came again, and Ryder searched, wondering where the heck the voice was coming from.

"Activating System...." The voice rang again.

"Activation complete."

"Welcome To the Purifier System. Dedicated to cleanse the Universe of all criminals and make the universe a better place." The mechanical voice continued.

Ryder's eyes almost popped out of their sockets hearing this and he kept wondering if he was the one hearing thing or was real.

Before he could think too much, a transparent screen appeared in his front and the mechanical voice continued.

"Uploading essential Purifier skills to the host."

A status bar appeared on the screen and, just like a d******d bar, ran from one to a hundred percent.

"Uploading complete. The host has received the basic skills for a Purifier. Including, but not limited to knowledge in all kinds of martial arts, weapon handling, self-defense, and a near-perfect body." The mechanical voice rang.

Instantly, Ryder felt all kinds of information rush into his head. Now he knew all kinds of Martial arts skills and how to use various weapons.

What's more, it was like he had been using them all his life as he felt them deeply engraved into his bones.

If he had these skills, then he would have been able to beat the criminals who tried to kill him.

Next, the status bar disappeared from the screen, and Ryder watched as another status bar appeared.

"Number of Criminals in Alvoria. Five hundred Thousand." The screen read.

"Number of Criminals in Brooklyn, two thousand." Another line appeared on the screen.

"Number of Criminals in Orange County. Five hundred." Another line appeared on the screen.

Soon after, those two words disappeared, and another line of words appeared.

"Arrest 50 Criminals in a Month."

Under it was a status bar that read zero out of ten.

On another line read, "Arrest ten criminals in a week."

Just like the first one, under it was a status bar which read, Zero out of a ten.

Then there was a last status one which read, "Capture the criminals that attacked you in three days. Location provided. Click on the map option on the top of the screen to view their location."

Under it also was a status bar which read, zero percent out of a hundred percent.

Orange County was just a city in Brooklyn, and Brooklyn happened to be a state in Alvoria.

Ryder felt his heart pumping rapidly and it was as though his heart was going to burst out of his chest at any time.

This was the legendary System he used to hear of? He had read some books and knew too well what this was.

He wondered what kind of reward he was going to receive when he completed the task.

Remembering what he read, curiously, he looked at the top of the screen and saw a map icon. Tapping the screen, the map opened and he saw a place pointing red. Zooming in the direction, he was able to know where the place was with just a glance.

He was going to go and have his revenge soon. There was no way he was going to let them off after what had happened.

"Crash!"

A loud sound resounded throughout the hall and Ryder quickly closed the screen before raising his head.

Before him was a nurse, the tray she was holding had already fallen to the floor as she stared at Ryder in shock.

"I..."

"Doctor Avery, good news, your brother is awake!" The nurse yelled, running out to the ward, forgetting about the tray on the floor.

Hearing this, Ryder smiled bitterly and realized that this was his elder sister, who was a doctor's workplace.

"Are you sure he's awake?" An anxious feminine voice soon sounded as a group of figures rushed into the ward, all forgetting about the tray on the floor as they didn't care about it.

"Ryder..." The leading female figure, clad in a white lab coat, rejoiced, seeing Ryder sitting up on the bed and rushed towards him happily, hugging him tightly.

After a while, she disengaged from the hug and looked at Ryder, her face filled with a smile as if she had just found something precious.

"I wasn't expecting you to survive it; all your bones were broken and your face swollen when you were brought in that I couldn't even recognize you anymore." Avery nearly burst into tears as she recounted.

"I'm fine now sister." Ryder was touched and wanted to hug his sister, but the bandages in his arms were getting in the way.

"Sister, can you undo the bandages? I can't move my arms freely." Ryder said slowly, observing his sister's expression.

"No, I can't; your hands are broken; you'll have to stay this way for about a year at least before you'll be able to unwrap it." Avery shook her head, staring at Ryder with a doting expression.

He was her only family that was left, so she didn't want anything to happen to him.

Ryder sighed and was thinking of a way to convince his sister. He wouldn't be able to bear this for even an hour, talk more or less about a year.

"Dr. Avery, you should come see this." One of the doctors who had walked in with Avery and was checking the machine spoke up, calling Avery's attention.

"What's that?" Avery immediately left Ryder and walked toward the machine to see what was wrong but froze immediately when she saw it.
