“Young man, since I've promised you, I won't go back on my word,” Lucien broke the silence, staring at Julian.

“Here's one billion,” he continued, pulling out a card from his pocket and giving it to Julian.

“My father was already at the end of his life and would have died anyway,”

“But then I would expect you to give up your conning lifestyle and find something else, pure and legal, to do other than scamming people,”

“The only reason I'm giving you this and letting you off is that I admire your confidence and bravery,” Lucien added. At this point, his voice was extremely cold.

“Sure,” Julian chuckled lightly and collected the card from Lucien. He had really treated the old man, so there was no need for him to refuse the card.

Without any further ado, Julian made his way out of the ward.

“Don't worry, your father will wake up in about an hour from now,” Julian's voice sounded just as he was about to step out.

Marcus and the other doctors froze seeing this, as they couldn't catch up on what was happening.

Why didn't Mr. Brown punish that young man? Instead, he gave him money and let him leave.

And besides that, the young man didn't even look grateful, he sounded as though he had earned the money. Apart from that, his tone was even a bit haughty.

“Sir…”

“Beep!” The loud beeping of the monitor drowned out Marcus' voice, and all the doctors rushed to check on the old man.

Seeing the monitor reading normally proved the old man was alive. The doctors froze and, without any hesitation, started to carry out a checkup.

Soon, their expressions changed, and there was only one word on their minds.

Impossible.

Quickly, they ran it again, but it was still the same. Not believing it, they did it again, but it was still the same.

“What's happening?” Lucien finally asked, staring at the group of doctors who looked like they had seen something they were not supposed to see.

“Sir….” Marcus stuttered, his face going red in embarrassment.

“What the heck is wrong?” Lucien demanded, his voice stiff, while his gaze was extremely cold.

The heart monitor had suddenly come back to life, and from the way the doctors were frozen in shock, it could only mean his father wasn't dead.

“Sir...sir… Your father is not dead…” Marcus stuttered, trying to explain to Lucien.

“And not only that, his body is now in a perfectly healthy condition,”

“All his hidden ailments and what had caused him to be bedridden in the first place that even we had no solution against have been treated,” Marcus swallowed as he explained.

He didn't dare to lie to Lucien; that was the last thing anyone would want to do. Lie to the head of the Brown family.

Well, except if they were looking for death.

“From what I'm seeing, your father's bodily functions are even healthier than some young man who isn't half his age, and I can say he could live on for another twenty years,” Marcus concluded, swallowing and looking away from Lucien, whose expression seemed to be unreadable.

Lucien, on the other hand, felt as though Marcus's words were a clap of thunder.

What the heck was happening? Was Marcus telling the truth? Well, Marcus couldn't lie to him.

So that could be the only case. And if that was the case, then it meant that it was Julian who saved his father.

Thinking about this, a huge wave of guilt instantly washed over Lucien.

Though he hadn't insulted Julian, he didn't thank him either. He had just dismissed him, even telling him not to con people again.

As someone who had saved his father's life, this was an unacceptable attitude from him.

If his father learn of this, he would definitely cough up blood and die again. After all, his son dismissed the very man who had saved his life and even called him a con man.

“Guards!” Lucien roared furiously, coming back to his senses.

Instantly, the door of the ward was pushed open, and about ten men dressed in black rushed into the ward.

“Find the young man who just left this ward and respectfully invite him back. If he's displeased by your acts, then you can forget about living,” Lucien commanded.

“Yes sir.” The men nodded and quickly rushed out, trying to find Julian.

“And you?” Lucien turned to Marcus and the other doctors.

At the moment, they didn't even dare to look at Lucien, who was fuming with rage.

That young man was right. He could treat the old man. But why didn't they believe him?

If only they had. Thinking about this, their faces turned red from embarrassment as they didn't know what to do.

“Sir,” the guards soon came back as they walked into the ward.

“We couldn't find him anywhere in the hospital; we think he has left,” the men reported, causing Lucien's expression to darken even more.

“I don't mind how you want to do it; find that young man for me. Also, investigate and get me all of his information,” Lucien commanded, his voice cold.

“Yes sir.” The men nodded and rushed out of the ward once again to carry out Lucien's order.

“And you all,” Lucien growled, turning to Marcus and the others.

“Just pray I find that young man, else…” He threatened, his eyes narrowing into a straight line glaring at the group.

“Better pray I find him,” Lucien added and stormed out of the ward, at the same time pulling out his phone to make a call.

Marcus and the rest breathed a sigh of relief seeing Lucien leave. They could only silently pray and hope that he would find Julian.

Else they were all cooked. As for what Julian had done to the old man, they had no idea what it was.

But whatever it was, Julian was very capable, and they couldn't help but remember their cynical remarks when he was about to treat the old man.

“Thank you.” Julian smiled, touched by her gestures, before he sat down on the chair. He looked back at her and wanted to start the discussion when she suddenly bowed to him, not only startling him but also making his jaw drop.“I am so sorry for putting you through all that. It was never my intention. I don't know how to properly apologize to you, but I mean this…I am deeply sorry, Julian.” She said, sounding so depressed and pained, but for his sake?“Come on, Brittany, none of it was your fault. I never blamed you or even thought of it. At least, I was able to help so you guys could see who the enemy actually is.”Julian quickly spoke as he saw no reason why she was bowing to him. He did what he did out of good intentions but nothing else. For the little time he had known her now, he could tell she was far better than her other family members. “But…” Brittany bit her lips. Regardless of how he might say it, she had felt guilty about it, and it couldn't be helped.“If you want to

  • Something to discuss

The morning light filtered through the windows, piercing into Julian's eyes and forcing him to wake up. He sighed and stretched before rubbing his eyes. His eyes then wandered off to the alarm clock on the bedside cupboard, and he gasped.“It's 9? Damn it! I slept for so long!”Even though he didn't have a busy schedule today, he didn't expect to wake up so late. He had places to go, such as goddamn properties to meet Brittany. Not for her grandfather's condition, as he knew that as long as they took his medications seriously, he was going to heal in no time. Instead, what he wanted was to discuss the construction of the clinic with her, how much it would cost, and how long it would take for it to be completed. He aimed to have it completed within a month. • What a day indeed

Vroom! The sound of Julian's car engine blared into the air, sounding more like music as it announced itself, unlike most cars that gave off noise pollution. As he was about to pull over to his garage, he noticed someone seated in front of his house. It was a female. She had her head resting in her chin, seemingly lost in thought as she waited. But for whom? Julian?Julian's eyes narrowed as a deep frown emerged on his face. He felt the urge to drop by and drag that woman off his house but decided to park his car first. The garage door was automatic. As soon as his car arrived, it opened itself, and Julian drove in and parked.By the time he was back, the figure was up already and had walked to the edge of the garage, waiting for him to come out. As soon as he did, she immediately flew into his arms, making sure her cleavage was exposed, and surprisingly, she was dressed in a skimpy gown like she was going to a party.“Ooh Julian, I have missed you so much!”“What are you doing here

“Failed, huh? I knew you were so incompetent and so unfit for the task. Master should have sent me instead, and I would have done it so perfectly!” Veyron used the medium to his advantage and was taking pleasure in it.“You will never be welcome back here if you can't do such a simple task. Or tell me, did your brain become so old and rusty after working for the Brown family for so long?” He added, smiling.Henry was boiling in so much anger, but rather than cursing at him, he was cursing at Julian instead for making things turn out this way for him.“So, who bought the land instead?” Lu Tian asked, sounding curious.“I am sure anyone would have been so scared to intervene if they knew the Lu clan wanted that piece of land,” Karl spoke with a hand on his chin as he thought through the situation.“Or maybe we have gotten ourselves a tough opponent,” Xavian said next, giving out speculation.“Why don't we let Henry answer the question so we can know the reason he failed so miserably?” V
