“You see what I was saying, Mr. Brown? This young man here is obviously a con man,” Marcus instantly said, pointing at Julian.

“We've already declared your father is beyond saving. Yet he says he could save him. Isn’t that so hilarious?”

Marcus continued, throwing a glare at Julian.

“Sir, let's…”

“Marcus, get out of the way,” Lucien's cold voice came at the moment, interrupting Marcus. He had a grim expression on his face and didn’t look like he was ready to listen to any words from Marcus lipsz

His father was lying there, running out of time, and yet Lucien was expected to let an opportunity he got slide? How could he? Even though he wasn’t too sure, he just had to bet the odds.

“Huh?” Marcus froze as he couldn't believe his ears. Perhaps his ears were hurting or something. Regardless of what he said, was Lucien about to ignore them all?

“I said get out of the way and let that young man treat my father,” Lucien commanded, his cold gaze and his voice held absolute authority.

“But sir….”

“Can you take responsibility if anything happens to my father?” Lucien growled, interrupting Marcus, his gaze even colder at the moment.

Marcus swallowed his saliva as sweat trickled down his forehead.

Take responsibility? That was the last thing he wanted to do.

The Brown family was very powerful. And in the entire Silverlake, only three families could stand up to them.

So he didn't even dare to think about taking any form of responsibility. If he even tried it, he was going to lose all he ever owned.

Thinking like this, Marcus slowly stepped back, but shot Julian a glare.

The other doctors also moved backwards. They knew just how ruthless the Brown family could be if they got serious.

Especially the man standing before them. So they didn't dare say anything and just stepped back.

“You can begin treatment,” Lucien said, turning to Julian, who was standing by the side.

“Sure,” Julian nodded and walked towards the old man. Taking the old man's wrist, he began to read his pulse.

Lucien, Marcus, and the other doctors' expressions were grim as they watched Julian carefully take the man's pulse yet no one dared to speak.

Soon, Julian's expression darkened, and he shook his head. The situation was far worse than he had thought it was.

This set of dumb doctors had been treating the wrong thing all along.

The old man was perfectly fine; it was just that one of the meridians leading to his heart had been clogged, thus resulting in some of his bodily functions starting to fail.

But then the doctors were trying to treat something else, and as a result, more and more of the old man's meridians were becoming clogged, and the condition got even more serious until it was what it was now.

So the first thing he had to do was to clear the old man's meridians; thereafter, he would treat the old man's damaged liver and lungs.

The doctors had administered the wrong drugs, so the lungs and the liver got damaged in the process.

In short, it was safe to say the doctors killed the old man, as it was because of his lung and liver being in such a poor condition that he was almost dying.

“I need a set of silver needles and a bowl of hot water,” Julian broke the silence, turning to Lucien.

“Go get him what he requires," Lucien, in turn, turned to Marcus and commanded.

Nodding, Marcus hurried out of the ward to get what Julian had demanded. Though he was a bit skeptical, there was nothing he could do about it.

Julian, on the other hand, took in a deep breath and removed the old man's clothes with the help of the other doctors.

Though they were unwilling to help, under Lucien's gaze, there was nothing they could do about it.

Staring at the body, Lucien slowly began to seal some of the old man's acupoints.

As he did that, the heart rate monitor connected to the old man instantly spiked up, making the doctors glance at Julian, wondering what the heck he was doing.

But Julian couldn't care less and continued what he was doing slowly. Though he knew the human body like the back of his hand, this was the first time he was actually using it.

In no time, Marcus was back with a set of silver needles and a bowl of hot water.

Seeing how the heart rate monitor had spiked up, he shook his head but didn't say anything. After all, Lucien was set on what he wanted to do; there was no way to stop him.

Julian, on the other hand, took in a deep breath and slowly picked up the silver needles; it was time to do the hard part.

Taking the first needle, he stabbed it directly into the old man's heart about three inches deep. The doctors gasped but didn't say anything. Lucien's expression also darkened, but he kept on watching.

Soon, an hour passed, and Julian, who was now sweating profusely, removed the last needle, then turned around and washed his hands in the hot water, which had now become warm.

“It's done,” Julian muttered, weakly, turning to Lucien, whose expression was a bit unreadable.

“How dare you claim you're done? Didn't you just kill the old man?” Marcus burst out into fury, pointing at Julian.

At some point during the treatment, the heart rate monitor suddenly went up as it caught a pulse.

However it went silent again and there were no readings, signifying the old man was dead.

But because Julian was still carrying out his act and Lucien was watching, he didn't dare to say anything and just kept on watching.

Apparently, Julian was done and was now trying to escape when his dad hadn’t woken up yet. There was no way he was going to let that happen.

“Sir, you should call the cops and have this punk arrested. He had successfully sent your father to the afterlife,” Marcus advised, turning to Lucien.

The other doctors also nodded in agreement. That was the truth. Julian has killed the old man; there was no doubt about that.

Lucien stared at Julian, not knowing what to say. Even under the doctor's harsh words and insults, he didn't lose his composure yet as somehow he was still as confident as ever.

If that was the case, then either Julian had really treated his father, or, he was an experienced con man. Whatever the case, he knew just what he had to do.

  • Who are you?

“Thank you.” Julian smiled, touched by her gestures, before he sat down on the chair. He looked back at her and wanted to start the discussion when she suddenly bowed to him, not only startling him but also making his jaw drop.“I am so sorry for putting you through all that. It was never my intention. I don't know how to properly apologize to you, but I mean this…I am deeply sorry, Julian.” She said, sounding so depressed and pained, but for his sake?“Come on, Brittany, none of it was your fault. I never blamed you or even thought of it. At least, I was able to help so you guys could see who the enemy actually is.”Julian quickly spoke as he saw no reason why she was bowing to him. He did what he did out of good intentions but nothing else. For the little time he had known her now, he could tell she was far better than her other family members. “But…” Brittany bit her lips. Regardless of how he might say it, she had felt guilty about it, and it couldn't be helped.“If you want to

  • Something to discuss

The morning light filtered through the windows, piercing into Julian's eyes and forcing him to wake up. He sighed and stretched before rubbing his eyes. His eyes then wandered off to the alarm clock on the bedside cupboard, and he gasped.“It's 9? Damn it! I slept for so long!”Even though he didn't have a busy schedule today, he didn't expect to wake up so late. He had places to go, such as goddamn properties to meet Brittany. Not for her grandfather's condition, as he knew that as long as they took his medications seriously, he was going to heal in no time. Instead, what he wanted was to discuss the construction of the clinic with her, how much it would cost, and how long it would take for it to be completed. He aimed to have it completed within a month. He was running low on money, so he wanted everything set up so he could begin as soon as possible. He had such great ambition, so he wasn't supposed to sleep off like he didn't. • What a day indeed

Vroom! The sound of Julian's car engine blared into the air, sounding more like music as it announced itself, unlike most cars that gave off noise pollution. As he was about to pull over to his garage, he noticed someone seated in front of his house. It was a female. She had her head resting in her chin, seemingly lost in thought as she waited. But for whom? Julian?Julian's eyes narrowed as a deep frown emerged on his face. He felt the urge to drop by and drag that woman off his house but decided to park his car first. The garage door was automatic. As soon as his car arrived, it opened itself, and Julian drove in and parked.By the time he was back, the figure was up already and had walked to the edge of the garage, waiting for him to come out. As soon as he did, she immediately flew into his arms, making sure her cleavage was exposed, and surprisingly, she was dressed in a skimpy gown like she was going to a party.“Ooh Julian, I have missed you so much!”“What are you doing here

“Failed, huh? I knew you were so incompetent and so unfit for the task. Master should have sent me instead, and I would have done it so perfectly!” Veyron used the medium to his advantage and was taking pleasure in it.“You will never be welcome back here if you can't do such a simple task. Or tell me, did your brain become so old and rusty after working for the Brown family for so long?” He added, smiling.Henry was boiling in so much anger, but rather than cursing at him, he was cursing at Julian instead for making things turn out this way for him.“So, who bought the land instead?” Lu Tian asked, sounding curious.“I am sure anyone would have been so scared to intervene if they knew the Lu clan wanted that piece of land,” Karl spoke with a hand on his chin as he thought through the situation.“Or maybe we have gotten ourselves a tough opponent,” Xavian said next, giving out speculation.“Why don't we let Henry answer the question so we can know the reason he failed so miserably?” V
