"I knew you still loved me," Lyra rushed towards Julian wanting to hug him, but was stopped by his outstretched hands.

The onlookers watched on, wondering what Julian was about to do. They had seen how Lyra had dismissed and insulted him.

They couldn't help but insult him silently seeing he asked to let her go, wondering if he was a wimp.

"What's wrong Julian, why did you ask me to stop?" Lyra asked, looking rather confused.

"Didn't you ask them to stop because you didn't want to see me hurt and want me to come hug you so we can go home and have a good time, live happily for the rest of our lives?" Lyra continued, blinking as she stared at Julian.

"You're speaking about love, Lyra, don't you find that iconic, huh?" Julian mused as he chuckled.

"I..." Lyra stuttered, seemingly rather confused, panic flashed through her face.

Julian was now acquainted with the Brown family and was even able to make the head of the Brown family treat him with respect.

This was even more powerful than Logan. So there was no way she was going to let this go. Besides, they were still legally married, she was yet to sign her part of the divorce.

"But you asked them to let me go," Lyra tried to argue, her voice weak,

"That means you still love me right?" She added, rushing towards Julian and holding his hands.

"Love you?" Julian sneered, pulling his hands away from Lyra's, shoving her away roughly.

"Julian, you said you would love me forever. You said you'd always be by my side," Lyra panicked, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Are you deserving of that huh?" Julian scoffed, his eyes cold, his voice held a hint of melancholy.

"But...."

"But my love is worth nothing. My love can't even buy you a hand bag or a diamond ring, so why stress yourself with useless things such as love," Julian interrupted Lyra and turned Lucien.

"If I may, there's a document on the floor just right outside, could I ask one of your men to retrieve it on my behalf," Julian requested.

"Sure, why not," Lucien agreed readily and signalled to one of his guards who rushed out to retrieve the documents.

"Here sir," The guard handed the divorce papers, Lyra had left outside.

"Thank you," Julian collected it and turned back to Lyra.

"I've signed my part, sign yours and get the heck out of my face," Julian commanded, a glint flashed in his eyes.

He knew damn too well that if it were not because he had Lucien's favour, he wouldn't be here at the moment.

She wouldn't even have looked at him for a second. She was the same person who watched coldly while Logan's guards broke his bone.

Yet, she was talking about love.

He couldn't be happier that all of these had happened before he awakened this knowledge. Else, with the way Lyra was, he was sure she was going to be his downfall, sooner or later.

There were no two doubts about this. Thinking like this, Julian heaved a sigh of relief.

There was no way he was going to take even a second look at her. He was disgusted to even do so.

"But..."

"We've got nothing to talk about, sign it and get the fuck out of my face, you disgusts me," Julian growled and turned around, ignoring Lyra, his voice void of emotions.

"Julian," Lyra screamed, ignoring the papers on the floor, wanting to rush towards Julian but was stopped coldly by Lucien's guards.

"Get her to sign it and throw her out," Lucien commanded and then rushed towards Julian. After all, this bank was his family's property, the latter had come here to cash out the money he had given him and yet he was humiliated.

He needed to make sure to appease the latter, maybe, at least he was going to be satisfied with whatever he was going to do.

"Sir..."

"Ohh yeah, I forgot to mention it," Julian interrupted Lucien who was about to say something.

"Your Manager fired the helpless cashier who wanted to cash out the money,"

Hearing this, Lucien swallowed and he felt his body weak. What kind of dumb subordinate did he have?

He didn't even try to call to check in with him. Neither did he try to verify the issue. He just took one random person's words and decided to act on it.

"Jude, pack your things and get out of my face," Lucien ordered, half yelling.

"Sir..."

"You're fired," He added again,

"But..."

"Throw him out," He instructed and immediately, the guards sprang to action, grabbing Jude.

"I'm sorry for what just happened," Lucien turned to the cashier who was frozen in fear and apologized.

"The Brown family would be responsible for what had just happened and we are willing to pay any form of compensation."

""No..no it's fine," The cashier hurriedly shook her head as she stuttered.

It would be greedy of her to demand anything. She was lucky she didn't even lose her job.

"Also, as the head of the Brown family, I'm announcing that you're now the new manager of the bank," Lucien suddenly announced..

"Huh?" The cashier froze, panic flashed across her face.

"Sir..".

"You can do it," Lucien interrupted the cashier, refusing to listen to what she had to say.

"Congratulations on the promotion," Julian chuckled, stretching his hands for a handshake.

"Yes?" The cashier swallowed her saliva, not knowing how to respond, and could just nod.

"Can I still have my money cashed out?" Julian chuckled as he asked.

"Yes..yes sir..sir..." She stuttered, rushing back to her seat and stated the process, while Lucien handed her the card.

A few minutes later, the cashier was done transferring the money into Julian's account.

"Thank you very much for your services," Julian thanked the cashier and prepared to leave the bank.

Seeing this, Lucien signalled to his men to take care of things while he hurriedly followed Julian out of the bank.

  • I own this place

Julian drove the car out of Brittany’s family compound without saying much. The quiet hum of the engine filled the air between them as the gate slowly closed behind the vehicle. Unlike most of the times Brittany had seen him arrive, this time Julian had come alone and had chosen to drive himself. The car he brought was not one of the imposing luxury vehicles that often turned heads on the street. It was a modest salon car that blended easily with ordinary traffic, the sort of vehicle most people would barely look at twice.Brittany noticed it earlier but had said nothing. Now she sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing sideways at him. The night breeze drifted through the slightly lowered window, carrying the distant sounds of the city settling into its evening rhythm.“So,” she said after a few minutes, unable to suppress her curiosity any longer, “where exactly are we going?”Julian did not answer immediately. One hand rested calmly on the steering wheel while the other ta

  • Unusual attachments

Julian walked out of the house but Brittany ran after him and stoped him, slowly she was becoming fully dependent on him. “Julian wait,” she called after him and he waited a bit. “You have done a lot for not just me but my family too, yet you don’t accept any form of gratitude at all. Who are you really?” Her eyes were bright with gratitude and her lips trembled slightly. “I just do what I have to do,” Julian had equally grown a soft spot for Brittany so he found himself interfering with matters concerning her and her family just to see her happy.”No, you don’t know what you have just done for my aunt, if your prescription is accurate, you’d have restored decorum in my family as well as my aunt’s confidence.” As she spoke, her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her voice a little thick with emotions.Julian sighed, he wanted to continue the conversation but he didn’t feel her home was the best place for it. “Join me for a ride.” Julian said, his dominantly present confidence never

When Julian told the cab driver his destination, he didn't argue."Who is paying please?" The driver was polite but he had seen people like Julian several times, they claimed to hire cabs to sophisticated destinations just to feel among. To him, Julian looked to poorly dressed to afford a ride, he could have easily taken a rickshaw but he didn't openly berate Julian yet."I have entered your vehicle alone, how then are you asking me that?" Julian was a bit confused. "I thought you have been asked to show up at the location by someone and are hoping on payment from them since you decided to take a cab." The man looked at Julian again through the rear view mirror and concluded that he wasn't all that at all but the confidence that Julian exuded was the reason he was still being polite with him."I am going there in my own. I am paying my bill myself." Julian had decided to take a cab because he didn't have physical cash on him to take a rickshaw. It was not as though he was proud and t

As the manager of the place, he had seen several cases like this and handed them over to the security. Most often just apologized and left but Julian seemed to be hard headed. • This is it

Morning light filtered through the tall glass panels of the city hospital, casting long reflections across the polished floors. The atmosphere inside was tightly controlled, yet charged with anticipation. Security personnel monitored every entrance, and hospital staff moved with unusual precision. Word had spread far beyond medical circles. What had begun as a rumor was now an event.Julian entered the primary consultation wing without ceremony. His white coat was immaculate, sleeves resting neatly at his wrists. There was no theatrical presence in his stride, no attempt to amplify the tension that already hung in the air. Lucien walked half a step behind him, reviewing the schedule one final time.“All one hundred are confirmed and pre-screened,” Lucien said quietly. “Their case files are loaded into the system, but I assume you won’t need them.”Julian’s gaze remained forward. “Open the first room.”The first patient was a middle-aged man accompanied by two younger relatives who car
