When Lucien left the Zhang family mansion, he took the shortest route home, which was at least a five-hour walk.

With no vehicles available in this era, he had a long way to trek since he didn't have the option to hire a horse-drawn carriage because he had no gold coins to do so.

Lucien decided to enjoy the view of the ancient kingdoms, which was a far cry from the bustling streets of the modern world he was used to.

As he walked, the scenery unfolded like the one he always watched in movies; Rolling hills, ancient stone buildings, and people going about their daily lives created a sense of peace and quiet.

As Lucien enjoyed the views, he wondered what it would be like if he suddenly introduced modern technology in this era. It would make him the wealthiest and most powerful person who ever lived. The thought of this made him grin wide.

The road eventually led him to the woods, with small footpaths to follow. The trees grew taller and closer together, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Suddenly, three men jumped in front of him, blocking his path. Lucien turned to run, but bumped into another huge man who felt like a wall.

When he looked up, he was shocked to see Drew PinYin, the self-proclaimed lord of the city.

Drew had a big grin on his face. "Going somewhere?" he asked, his voice mixed with amusement.

Lucien hesitated, unsure of what to say. Drew placed his hands on Lucien's shoulders and said, "Come, let's take a little stroll into the woods, will you?"

Before Lucien could react, Drew's men tied him up, and Drew commanded them to start digging a grave. Lucien's eyes widened in fear as he asked, "What's going on? What's my fault?"

Drew laughed, a cold, menacing sound. "It really wasn't your fault," he said. "It was your brother's fault. He borrowed two hundred gold coins from me a week ago and hasn't paid me back. The interest has piled up, and today I'm in a bad mood. I decided to vent my anger on you, to teach your family a lesson."

Lucien's mind flooding with memories, he recalled his brother's attempt to borrow money from the Zhang family when their father was sick.

However, he was beaten and thrown out, leading his brother to borrow from Drew at exorbitant interest rates. Which was the strategy he used to seize properties.

As Drew's men dug the grave, Lucien thought about the horror of dying again. Suddenly, his x-ray vision kicked in, and he saw a needle lodged close to Drew's heart.

"There's a needle stuck close to your heart," Lucien said. "If it's not removed, you'll die. But if you spare me, I'll help you take it out." He reassured Drew, counting on his previous knowledge as a top medical student with a PhD.

Drew's expression changed from amusement to shock. "How did you know about this?" he asked, his voice laced with suspicion. "You're intellectually disabled and void of any magical abilities... unless... You've been pretending to be stupid all along?"

Lucien shrugged, trying to play it cool. "I just knew by chance."

Drew raised an eyebrow. "You think you're wise?" he sneered. "I don't need your help." He turned to his men, “what are you waiting for? Send him to the next life.” He ordered.

Just as all hope seemed lost, Lucien shouted, "One thousand gold coins!" Drew's men paused, looking at their lord for instructions.

Drew's expression changed from anger to curiosity. "What did you say?" he asked Lucien.

"If you spare me, I'll get you one thousand gold coins within a week," Lucien replied, trying to sound confident.

Drew laughed. "You're insane," he said. "How do you plan on getting that kind of money? Your entire family can't come up with that amount even in ten years."

Lucien stood firm. "I'll find a way. I'll do whatever it takes."

Drew thought for a moment before nodding. "Fine, I'll give you three days to come up with the money. If you can't, you'll not only die, but your entire family will suffer."

Lucien suspected that Drew was in a hurry to get the money because someone was threatening him. He wondered if it was the same person who had stuck the needle in Drew's chest.

With a mixture of relief and determination, Lucien was let go. He left the scene as quickly as possible, without looking back. He knew he had to come up with a plan to save his life and his family's lives. The clock was ticking.

In a small house in Ravenshire Village, Mrs. Rose Feng was serving herbal tea to her husband, Mr. Tom Feng. "Drink, it should make you feel better," she said, her voice filled with concern. Mr. Tom Feng smiled and thanked her.

She turned to her son, John Feng, who was sitting with a bandage around his leg. "How is the leg?" she asked, her brow furrowed with worry. John replied, "I'm fine, Mum. Don't worry about me. Instead, you should worry about Lucien, who's still at the Zhang family mansion."

Mrs. Rose's expression immediately turned angry. "I can't believe they did this to you just because you went there to request help. Tomorrow, I'm going to get my son back." Just then, they heard a voice at the door. "Mum, Dad, I'm back."

They turned to see Lucien standing there with a smile. "Big brother Lucien!" John called out, trying to stand up despite the throbbing pain in his leg. Lucien's mother rushed to hug her son. "I'm back now, Mother. Welcome back, my son. If you had stayed any longer in that hell of a place, I couldn't have stood it. Did they hurt you?"

Lucien reassured her, "No, I'm fine. Emma and I broke off the marriage." His mother replied, "No worries. You were better off without her anyway. She didn't deserve you."

As Mrs. Rose ushered Lucien in, Lucien's father and brother hugged him warmly. Lucien enjoyed a bowl of rice his mother brought for him, savoring the taste after a long day without food. As they ate and discussed their day, Lucien felt a sense of belonging and love he had never experienced before.

When asked about his plans, Lucien's father suggested arranging a marriage with a widow from up the hill. Lucien declined, saying he didn't want to settle down with a widow. His parents asked who he wanted to settle down with, but Lucien replied that they'd discuss it later.

After eating, Lucien used his modern knowledge to create medicine for his father and brother. The results were astonishing, and his father was impressed. "Wow, you've become so incredible, Lucien. Maybe the idea of marrying a widow was ridiculous. I should search for a better choice."

Lucien said he wanted to find his wife himself, which surprised his parents because it was the first time he was decisive.

They looked at each other and agreed to support Lucien's decision.

Just as the evening was going well, one of Drew's men entered the house. "I brought information from Drew," he said. "He's changed the deadline to tomorrow. If you don't bring the money by nightfall, there will be severe consequences." The mood was instantly ruined, and Lucien knew he had to act fast to save himself and his family.

Lucien explained the bargain he had made with Drew to his family, and they were all filled with despair. "Where will we get a thousand gold coins before tomorrow's nightfall?" his mother worried, her brow furrowed with concern.

John, despite his injured leg, tried to offer a solution. "Don't worry, brother. I'll go beast hunting tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll gather enough beast crystals to sell."
