"It has been two years since I last visited my son, I heard that the sect will hold a competition, anyone is free to participate as long as they are over ten years old."

"That’s right, Patriarch, I have already confirmed the news, it will be held in two months!"

"Hmm, send some gifts to my son’s master, tell him, if my son can win or at least become the runner-up, then there will be additional rewards!"

"Very well, Patriarch, I will prepare the gifts first, excuse me!" Chen Zhi bowed slightly in respect.

Han Rui only waved his hand, and Chen Zhi walked away.

A young man was walking barefoot in the forest, trying to go deeper into the island and find a way to get out of it.

"This island is quite vast, perhaps there are resources to strengthen my body or cultivation," Chen Nian murmured to himself, since for two years he had not encountered a single human being.

His footsteps kept moving forward, if there was any fruit he could eat, he would pick it.

Perhaps it had been several days that he walked without rest, all while absorbing the natural energy needed by the soul flame his master had given him, a flame condensed from the strength and memories of its former owner.

Chen Nian was convinced that his master was not in the same world as him now, because there were many techniques he only came to know here, and he could confidently say that those techniques were of high level or even divine level.

Moreover, with those memories, he could also perfect the techniques he had previously learned to become sharper and more powerful in their destructive force.

****

Swush!

He leapt high onto a large-branched tree and stopped there.

He could see several people walking.

"Hmm, where are they going? Could it be that there is something valuable on this island? That must be the only possibility, otherwise, why would people come here?"

Swush!

From one tree to another, Chen Nian kept leaping, following their movements. Naturally, he was curious about what had brought them here.

Siss!

A terrifying hiss was heard. A snake of considerable size appeared.

"That is a level two beast," one person said with slight panic when he saw the massive black snake suddenly appear.

"Calm down! That’s only a level two beast equivalent to the Fighter Realm, why are you afraid!? You’re already in the Energy Core Realm, surely you can defeat that snake easily!?"

"That’s just its child, I’m certain the mother is nearby!" The man still wore a frightened expression.

"Tch, let me kill it, even if the mother is here, we still have elders who can fight it!" As soon as he finished speaking, the man leapt and struck the snake with his ability, easily beheading it.

Chen Nian merely watched from atop the tree, since the fight wasn’t anything significant, but he then noticed a massive snake of unbelievable size opening its eyes, perhaps sensing that its child had died.

The snake moved quickly, its two-ton body shaking the ground it stepped on.

"What did I say? The mother has come! These tremors are the sign!"

"Why are you so cowardly, stop being a cultivator, you’d be better off working as a laborer in the market or as a night worker!" Hong Lao scolded the man beside him.

The giant snake stared at them with its crimson eyes. Its aura radiated nothing but rage.

"Young Master, step back!" shouted Hong Jandi, who was the leader of that expedition and responsible for the training of the Hong Clan’s disciples, accompanied by two other elders, both in the mid-stage of the Earth Realm.

[It must be understood, even though the distance between realms seems small, the gap in power is enormous. To advance by just one stage often requires six months of cultivation, provided there are enough resources. Without them, it could take a full year to advance a single stage. However, there are also prodigies who progress quickly, depending on their talent and fortune. Everyone has different luck in cultivation.]

Hong Lao immediately retreated, unwilling to disobey Hong Jandi’s orders. Even though he was a young master of the clan, he would not risk his life just because of his pride.

But his movement was too slow in the eyes of the giant snake. Now the snake opened its massive jaws, seemingly ready to swallow Hong Lao whole.

"How dare you attack our young master!" Hong Jandi and one of the elders struck simultaneously.

"Wave Breaking the Reefs!" Hong Jandi swung his sword with tremendous force, not holding back, pouring everything into that strike. The elder beside him did the same, releasing a deadly destructive technique.

Boom!

A great explosion erupted in the air as the attacks landed on the snake. But when the dust settled and the smoke cleared, the snake was still standing, unscathed.

"Its skin is incredibly tough, a level four beast truly is different, this kind is difficult indeed, it has extraordinary skin thickness," said Hong Jandi.

Now both of them were struck back as the snake’s head smashed into the ground, its long fangs thrusting forward, trying to hook one of their bodies.

Both stomped their feet on the ground, leaping away.

"I will help!" Elder Hong Ba rushed in, standing between the two.

"Let’s combine our attacks!" said Hong Jandi, "I’m sure we can defeat it if we join forces!"

"I’m ready!" Hong Ba immediately took his stance.

"Me too!"

"Wave Breaking the Reefs!" muttered Hong Jandi.

"Snow Dragon!" muttered Hong Ba.

"Shadow Sword!" muttered Hong Gui.

"Release!"

The three of them unleashed their techniques at once, just as the snake’s head was only ten meters away.

A violent explosion resounded, strong winds blasting as a result, throwing the three backwards. But now the snake’s face was torn. It roared furiously. Its anger surged further. Sparks of fire flickered from its mouth, then it spewed flames that grew into a massive beam, fast and deadly like a laser.

"Scatter!" shouted Hong Jandi. He was the strongest among the elders present, at mid-stage Earth Realm, but even he was being battered by this level four beast. Even with the aid of two others, they were struggling.

"Grab its tail!" Hong Ba shouted to Hong Gui.

Hong Gui quickly dashed to the snake’s massive tail and pulled, but instead his body was sent flying by its powerful lash.

Previously, Jie Qian had intended to discuss business with these two men. But the matter had been disrupted due to the lack of a proper venue.“We can talk at the inn instead, Prince Jie. But have you prepared the conditions we requested?” one of them asked.“Rest assured. Everything you asked for has been prepared. Once we reach an agreement, it can all be handed over,” Prince Jie replied, leading the two men who wore bamboo hats to conceal their identities. It didn’t take long to find an inn. A large establishment stood not far from the Sandalwood Pavilion. With his status as a Prince of the Jie Empire, booking a place was effortless. The inn also offered entertainment. Jie Qian chose to bring the two men to the VIP section.“Prince Jie, I’m delighted by your visit. Would Your Highness like to order some women?” a madam approached, speaking casually. In that place, everyone who entered was a customer—but customers were treated according to status. A Prince rarely visited such establ

“Hahaha… Your Highness is still too young to sneer. We’re finished here anyway. Please, enjoy the room,” Kang Kung said to Jie Qian. Then he glanced at Chen Nian and added, “Young Master, it seems our gathering has been disturbed again. There are indeed many clever people in this Empire.”He shot a sideways look at Jie Qian—the word clever clearly laced with sarcasm, implying someone skilled only in twisting words.Chen Nian merely nodded and followed Kang Kung toward the exit.“Stop right there!” Jie Qian shouted without turning his head. There was no way he would let this end so easily. “Apologize to me—kneel!” he roared again. His shout drew more people closer. After all, who wouldn’t be curious about a free spectacle? They watched cautiously from a distance. If a fight broke out, they did not want to be caught in the aftermath. From afar, at least, they could still flee. The two men continued to ignore him and walked toward the exit. The crowd that had gathered instinctively parte

Smack! The instant the slap landed across someone’s face, silence fell outside. No one dared to speak, comment, or even breathe too loudly.A servant lay sprawled on the floor after being struck by that figure. Although the blow had not carried full force, blood still trickled from the corner of his mouth, and a vivid red imprint of five fingers was stamped across his face.He did not even dare cry out in pain, for the one who struck him was a person deeply respected within the Jie Empire.Jie Qian said coldly, “I already told you, I don’t care about those rules. I’m hosting guests, and you will prepare the place.” His tone was domineering and aggressive. He always acted according to his own will—but who would dare offend him? The servant had only been following orders from his superior and was equally helpless. “Quickly inform the owner of Sandalwood Pavilion that I, Jie Qian, want that private room.”The manager, who had been watching from afar, did not dare approach. He could only

“Uncle Kang, let’s go. We have no business with them. Keep your dignity—don’t lower yourself before a dog that likes to lick boots!”Chen Nian’s harsh words were clearly aimed at Chen Dunrui.“We should fill our stomachs instead. Come, Young Master. I’ll take you to a restaurant famous for its delicious cuisine!” Kang Kung smoothly played the role of guide, since he had already claimed that Chen Nian came from another empire. The two tacitly agreed to maintain this act. It would be impossible for others to quickly verify Chen Nian’s origins. In truth, even Kang Kung himself did not know which empire Chen Nian came from. Given the urgency of the situation, he had fabricated the story that Chen Nian hailed from the Jing Empire and possessed high status—hence addressing him as “Young Master.”Watching them leave, Chen Dunrui felt the veins on his forehead bulge, anger throbbing painfully within him. He had come to corner Kang Kung, yet he was completely ignored. It was utterly humiliatin

“According to the regulations set by the Empire, anyone who can cure the Empress Dowager will receive a reward—one granted wish and ten thousand high-grade Demon Stones. However, could the second reward be exchanged for another wish instead?”“What do you desire? Let alone two wishes—even more can be granted, within the scope of authority I can command,” Soe Shuwan replied.“I am currently staying with the Kang Clan, and the Kang Clan was destroyed by a tragedy. I do not ask for the clan to be restored. I only request that Kang Zhangsun be released and cleared of the accusations against him.”“I can arrange his release. However, erasing the stain attached to his name is beyond my power. If he is truly innocent, time will prove it. I know that child—he is upright and would not commit wrongdoing while his career was rising,” Soe Shuwan said. She indeed could not alter long-standing public opinion. Only time and proof could wash that away.“I understand and will not press further. As for

Chen Chengdu slammed his fist against the floor. In the next instant, he shot forward, attempting to flee when he noticed Kang Kung momentarily distracted. But Chen Nian teleported instantly, appearing in front of him and kicking him hard in the abdomen, sending him crashing to the ground.Thud!“You’re not thinking of going back on the wager, are you?” Chen Nian said coldly.Chen Chengdu struggled to rise, clutching his aching stomach. He immediately denied it. “Is there any proof that we made a wager?”“What a shameless man!” Kang Kung snapped from behind, furious at such blatant denial. If even his own words could not be trusted, then what could possibly be believed from someone like him?“I don’t care whether you admit it or not. In front of me, the wager stands!” Chen Nian’s hand shot out with terrifying speed. Before anyone could react, his arm had already pierced through Chen Chengdu’s heart.Only a choking cough mixed with blood escaped Chen Chengdu’s mouth. He likely never im
