Chapter 005
Karion’s POV this had to be some kind of joke. There was no other explanation for it. No way this was real. I stared at the floating digital screen again, my eyes narrowing slightly as if doing that would make it disappear. Systems like this only existed in games, in novels, in anime. Not in real life. Nobody had ever come out and said something like this happened to them before. So why me? How was this even possible? My mind kept searching for logic, for some reasonable explanation. Maybe the hospital injected me with something. Maybe I hit my head too hard and my brain was trying to cope with everything that happened by creating illusions. That had to be it. Because in reality, people didn’t just wake up and suddenly see a system that only they could see, telling them they had half a trillion dollars. That wasn’t how life worked. My eyes drifted back to the balance displayed on the screen. The zeros, There were too many of them. I counted slowly in my head, once… twice… three times. Half a trillion. And underneath it, written clearly, was the explanation that all my banks globally had been linked to this balance., Which meant… This money belonged to me? I shook my head slowly. “No… this is fake,” I muttered under my breath. There was no way the numbers I was seeing were real money. No way it all belonged to me. That kind of money didn’t just fall into someone’s lap. I pinched the back of my hand hard. A sharp sting followed immediately. I hissed slightly, pulling my hand back. I wasn’t dreaming I wasn’t in a coma. This was real, And that made it even worse. In real life, things like this didn’t happen. Before I could process it any further, the door to my hospital room swung open. The nurse from earlier walked in, this time with a man beside her The doctor. Now that he was here, a thought crossed my mind. Should I tell him? Maybe I was actually losing my mind. Maybe I needed help and didn’t even realize it yet. The doctor smiled lightly as he stepped inside, taking off his white coat and draping it over his arm. “Mr. Kross, glad to see that you’re doing okay,” he said calmly. I opened my mouth to respond, but then something else caught my attention. Something new. Right beside the doctor’s head… there were numbers. Floating. Just like the system screen, My breath caught., Beside the nurse’s head too, Small blue numbers And beneath them was a word Balance. The nurse’s balance read: 29,000 USD. The doctor’s balance read: 86,000 USD. My heart skipped. I stared at them, my mind racing. Was this another trick from the system? Just like mine showed half a trillion… theirs showed their own balances? Could this really be money? I swallowed hard and forced myself to look away. “I… I think something is wrong with me,” I said carefully. The doctor’s expression turned serious. “What could that be? Are you experiencing headaches, dizziness, or numbness in any part of your body?” “I’m… uh…” I hesitated. “I think I’m seeing things. Things I’m not supposed to see.” “Hallucinations?” he asked, pulling a chair closer and sitting down. “No,” I replied quickly. “This feels too real to be hallucinations.” He studied my face for a moment. “Alright. You can explain them to me.” Before I did, another thought struck me. Payment My stomach tightened. “Before that,” I said, clearing my throat, “how much is my bill? And… is there any way I can make payment? I don’t have my phone or credit card with me.” “Yes,” the doctor replied. “We have a computer you can use to make a direct bank transfer.” “Then I’d like to make payment now,” I said immediately. After buying that ring for Maddie, my last available balance was less than sixty dollars. If this system was fake, then I was finished, Completely finished. But if it was real… Then this transfer should go through without any problem. The doctor gave the nurse a small nod. She stepped out briefly and returned with a small laptop. “If you remember your bank details, you can log into your account and make the transfer here,” the doctor said, placing the laptop gently on the bed in front of me. “Your total bill is four thousand seven hundred dollars,” the nurse added. My eyes widened slightly just from hearing that, Nearly five thousand dollars? That was more than my four months salary put together All that accumulated up in just a night of me being here…. I swallowed hard and slowly typed in my bank details. My fingers felt stiff as I entered each digit, This had to work. After a few seconds, the page loaded, My bank account opened, My breath stopped. The number staring back at me was unreal. 500,000,000,000.00 USD My heart pounded violently in my chest. The same amount I saw on the digital screen. Exactly the same. My throat went dry, How… how did it get here? Does this mean the system is real? “Mr. Kross, is everything alright?” the nurse asked, noticing my silence. “Yes,” I said quickly. “Uh… everything is fine.” My hands trembled slightly as I picked up the card containing the hospital’s bank details. Slowly, carefully, I typed in the numbers. Then I entered the amount. 4,700 USD I hesitated for just a second before clicking Transfer. The page refreshed. Transaction successful. Just like that, I stared at the screen, unable to speak. A few hours ago, all I had left in the world was less than 100 hundred dollars. Now… I had just paid nearly five thousand dollars without even feeling it. I refreshed the page again. The new balance appeared. 499,999,995,300.00 USD I leaned back against the bed, completely speechless. I have never seen such amount before, I have never even calculated an amount like this before This wasn’t a dream, This wasn’t an illusion. The system was real.Latest Chapter

Chapter 15 Karion's POV [Quest objective complete] KROESUS System notification: Congratulations, host Karion Kross. Task one has been completed. You have officially leveled up to Level 2. Your reward has been added to your current balance. I read the notification off the digital screen floating in my vision, my eyes scrolling down almost instinctively to check my balance, and there it was, sitting plainly in front of me: 515,603,447,300.00 dollars. My eyebrow raised, genuinely caught off guard for a second. KROESUS had added over 10 billion dollars to my previous balance, just because I completed the task I was given? That wasn't remotely what I was expecting. Honestly, I hadn't expected any reward at all. I only completed the task because the consequences of failing sounded fatal enough that I wasn't willing to test them, and since I was cutting it close to the timer, the only realistic way to spend that much money in that little time was to buy something expensive. And at t

Chapter 14Jubril’s POVWater rushed down my head to my toe as I stayed silent in the shower for minutes, just staring down at the floor, lost in my own thoughts, hoping the hot shower might take away this unwanted worry am suddenly feeling, the kind of worry that had no business sitting on my shoulders in the first place. Those fucking idiots. I gave them one simple job, yet they still couldn’t get that done, I don’t even know why I haven’t fired them yet, because tell me how you fuck up something as simple as killing someone, it’s not that hard, just get the fucking job done and disappear, that was the whole point of paying people who were supposed to know what they were doing.I took in a deeper breath, trying to calm myself down, I shouldn’t be getting this worked up over a useless nobody, someone who used to matter to me but had long since become irrelevant. The only thing that’s getting me worried is the fact that he knows I tried to kill him, what if he went to the police and

Chapter 013Karion's POVThe blood in my mouth had already gathered up enough, so I collected it and spat it onto the floor, watching the manager's expression twist even further into disgust, his lips curling like he'd just watched something crawl out from under a rock. I did that on purpose, just to aggravate him a little more, to remind him that whatever composure he thought he'd stripped from me was still very much intact."That's what happens when trash like you tries to step out of line," jubril said, his voice carrying just enough volume to make sure the people still lingering around us heard it clearly, like he wanted an audience for this. The smirk on my face slowly faded. Alright, I was done taking all this from him. Even if I wasn't fully recovered, I could still push myself a little, at least enough to give him a black eye he'd have to explain to people for weeks, something to remind him this wasn't as one sided as he thought. The firm grip the guards had on me had loosened

Chapter 012Karion’s POV“Hold on, I’d like a word with him,” jubril’s voice said, stopping the guards before they began dragging me out, the sudden authority in his tone enough to make even the manager freeze mid step.“Sir, are you sure? I mean he’s not worth you wasting your time and energy on, he’s a nobody,” the manager said quickly, his eyes darting between me and jubril like he was trying to gauge whether he should still be siding against me.Jubril completely ignored the manager and took a step forward, his presence somehow filling up more of the room than it had a right to.“Why the hostile behavior kay?” Jubril said, calling me by my nickname like we were suddenly friends again “When I first saw you from over there, I thought I might have been seeing double, but I’ve known you too long not to recognize how your hair is, and that dragon tattoo at the back of your neck sealed the nail in the coffin. And when I came to holla at you, you grab me by my suit? Do you realize how ex

Chapter 11Karion's POVFuck.Out of every possible Louis Vuitton store they could have shown up in, it just had to be this particular one at this particular time.I should have probably just listened to the manager when he told me to leave. If I had, I wouldn't be standing here about to run into them again. It's not even like I can turn my back and blend in with the other customers, what am wearing makes me stand out the most in the entire store, so it was only a matter of time before they spotted me anyway. They both walked in feeling proud, feeling like the whole world existed just to make way for them, their steps slow and unhurried like the ground itself owed them something. Watching jubril carry himself like that made me sick to my guts, because the man he's become right now, the rich, almighty man he's parading around as, only exists because of me.A small realization crept up on me then, after he told his guys to kill me, I don't think he actually knew that I survived. Chapter 010Karion’s POV“Well, it’s only natural for someone like you to think something like that when am dressed like this” once again, I gestured towards my gown “but you really shouldn’t judge someone you know nothing about just by their looks you know” I added hoping he would probably listen, but let’s me be honest with myself, from the way he has been talking, guys like him doesn’t even give people like me a chance. He looked at me the way someone would look at a stain on an expensive rug, something that shouldn’t be there in the first place.“Oh, so your preaching now?” He said while letting out a small scoff “I shouldn’t judge people by looks alone huh? Should I tell you how stupid that saying of yours is? If I were to call someone here to evaluate our bank accounts just by looks, and the person decided to take your stupid saying and pick you as the more wealthy man between the both of us and me as the less wealthy, even with how your looking and how am looking, do you se
