Chapter 008
Karion’s POV “Sir, are you sure you don’t want to stay longer? Wait for a family or friend to come get you?” the doctor asked as we both walked down the reception area. Family or friend? Right now, I had none of that. I was completely on my own and if there was one thing I knew for sure, it was that I needed to figure out a path forward as soon as possible. “I’ll manage,” the words left my mouth barely above a whisper. The doctor nodded, but I could tell he wasn’t exactly concerned about me. Honestly, I knew he was only asking because he knew I could pay my bills now, If it were up to me, I would have preferred staying. My entire body still hurt like hell, i could barely walk properly, every step sent pain shooting through my ribs and legs. I couldn’t even maintain a straight posture without feeling like my bones were grinding against each other. Medically speaking, walking out of the hospital right now was probably a terrible idea. Especially considering I didn’t even have a phone or a credit card, no way to access or withdraw this money am seeing in the system, but I had more important things to worry about. Like figuring out what exactly was happening to me. And what this mysterious system actually was. After signing a few final papers, I slowly made my way outside. The moment I stepped out of the hospital entrance, cool air hit my face. I stopped for a moment and looked around. People moved in every direction, some were entering the hospital, others were leaving. But none of that was what caught my attention. Floating above every single person’s head was the same thing I had seen inside the hospital. Balance. $1,842. $15,377. $327. $42,918. I swallowed hard, so it wasn’t just the nurse and the doctor, everyone in the hospital had it, and everyone outside too Every person I looked at had a balance floating above their head. My eyes moved from one stranger to another. The numbers changed with every person. Different amounts, different balances. A strange feeling crawled up my spine. If the system was real, then was this some kind of perk? Some special ability? A feature? I honestly had no idea. And that uncertainty was starting to drive me insane. I shook my head and forced myself to focus. One problem at a time. Right now, I needed to get home. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. My apartment was still far away, way too far. There was absolutely no chance I could walk all the way there in my current condition. Just getting out of the hospital had nearly exhausted me. Hell, this little movement alone already felt like it was pushing my body beyond its limit. And it wasn’t like I could simply order a cab. Even if I did, how was I supposed to pay? The hospital computer had allowed me to access my account. That didn’t mean every random taxi driver would have a computer sitting in the front seat waiting for me. “Fuck…” My hand immediately moved toward my ribs. A sharp cramp suddenly stabbed through my side, the pain was so sudden that I nearly lost my footing. I clenched my teeth. Maybe I had pushed myself too hard, maybe leaving the hospital really was a stupid idea. Either way, there was nothing I could do about it now. i needed to sit down. Fast. My eyes scanned the area until I spotted a small bench near the corner of the sidewalk. Without hesitation, I increased my pace. Every step hurt. But eventually I reached the bench. The moment I sat down, relief washed through my body, I leaned back., Closed my eyes. And allowed myself a few seconds to breathe. Slowly, the cramp near my ribs began to loosen. The pain didn’t disappear completely but it became manageable. After resting for a while, I opened my eyes and glanced back toward the hospital. And immediately froze. The hospital entrance was still ridiculously close, I stared at it in disbelief. i had honestly thought I walked a decent distance, but looking at it now? I hadn’t gone anywhere. A bitter smile appeared on my face. Pathetic. I closed my eyes again and gently leaned my head against the bench. The little bit of hope I had left seemed to fade even more. At this point, I honestly didn’t know what I was supposed to do. Which was ironic. Because half a trillion dollars was sitting in my account. Half a trillion. The number still sounded ridiculous every time I thought about it. Many tech companies weren’t worth that much. Yet somehow I had access to it. And still couldn’t even buy myself a sandwich. Life really had a twisted sense of humor. As more people walked by, I noticed them glancing at me, some looked curious, others looked uncomfortable. One woman even crossed to the opposite side of the sidewalk. I looked down at myself. Giving the fact that am currently in a hospital gown, flip flops and my hair looks like shit, I don’t blame them. I probably looked like a complete psycho. Even if I somehow managed to call a cab, would the driver even stop for me looking like this? I doubted it I needed clothes I needed a phone. Those two things had to be solved first. After that, I could focus on everything else. Including this system. Speaking of the system… I still couldn’t see the digital interface, only people’s balances. Did it disappear whenever it wanted or did it have some kind of activation requirement? A command? A button? I closed my eyes tightly as frustration slowly built inside me. This thing had dropped into my life without explanation. Without instructions. Without a manual And somehow I was expected to figure everything out myself. A few seconds later, I opened my eyes And froze. The digital interface had appeared again, just like that, My heartbeat immediately sped up. The familiar screen floated before me. My balance The task, The countdown timer reminding me that I still had thirty million dollars to spend. So there was a way to activate it, was it really just closing my eyes? “Please tell me this thing comes with instructions,” I muttered. I closed my eyes again. Waited, opened them and the screen vanished. I immediately closed them again, waited several seconds, opened them and the screen returned. A grin slowly spread across my face. Excitement rushed through my veins. So that was it. I could summon it and dismiss it Just by closing my eyes for a few seconds. “Guess I figured that out faster than I thought I would,” I muttered while staring at the floating display. I still had no clue how to disable the balance ability though. Every person’s account balance was still visible. But that was a problem for another day. Eventually my gaze landed on a section of the interface I hadn’t paid attention to before. Inventory Storage. I frowned, inventory? My eyes narrowed. There was a small notification beside it., One Item Available. My heart immediately began beating faster. An item? The system had items? Slowly, I raised my finger and pressed the inventory section. The screen responded instantly, A loading symbol appeared. To everyone else around me, I probably looked insane. A guy in a hospital gown touching invisible air. But to me, the interface felt real. Almost solid like touching an actual screen. After several seconds, the inventory finally loaded. Words appeared before me. “Would you like to access newbie gift package: Global Infinite Black Card.” Below it was another line. “Balance: 499,999,995,300.” i stared at it. The same ridiculous amount, my throat suddenly felt dry. A black card? Was it some kind of credit card? Bank card? Whatever it was, i desperately needed it especially right now. I swallowed hard, then pressed yes. The moment I did, a new notification instantly appeared. “Congratulations host, you now have a Global Infinite Black Card in which you can use anywhere and anytime. Your card would be delivered to you physically in 3, 2, 1.”Latest Chapter

Chapter 15 Karion's POV [Quest objective complete] KROESUS System notification: Congratulations, host Karion Kross. Task one has been completed. You have officially leveled up to Level 2. Your reward has been added to your current balance. I read the notification off the digital screen floating in my vision, my eyes scrolling down almost instinctively to check my balance, and there it was, sitting plainly in front of me: 515,603,447,300.00 dollars. My eyebrow raised, genuinely caught off guard for a second. KROESUS had added over 10 billion dollars to my previous balance, just because I completed the task I was given? That wasn't remotely what I was expecting. Honestly, I hadn't expected any reward at all. I only completed the task because the consequences of failing sounded fatal enough that I wasn't willing to test them, and since I was cutting it close to the timer, the only realistic way to spend that much money in that little time was to buy something expensive. And at t

Chapter 14Jubril’s POVWater rushed down my head to my toe as I stayed silent in the shower for minutes, just staring down at the floor, lost in my own thoughts, hoping the hot shower might take away this unwanted worry am suddenly feeling, the kind of worry that had no business sitting on my shoulders in the first place. Those fucking idiots. I gave them one simple job, yet they still couldn’t get that done, I don’t even know why I haven’t fired them yet, because tell me how you fuck up something as simple as killing someone, it’s not that hard, just get the fucking job done and disappear, that was the whole point of paying people who were supposed to know what they were doing.I took in a deeper breath, trying to calm myself down, I shouldn’t be getting this worked up over a useless nobody, someone who used to matter to me but had long since become irrelevant. The only thing that’s getting me worried is the fact that he knows I tried to kill him, what if he went to the police and

Chapter 013Karion's POVThe blood in my mouth had already gathered up enough, so I collected it and spat it onto the floor, watching the manager's expression twist even further into disgust, his lips curling like he'd just watched something crawl out from under a rock. I did that on purpose, just to aggravate him a little more, to remind him that whatever composure he thought he'd stripped from me was still very much intact."That's what happens when trash like you tries to step out of line," jubril said, his voice carrying just enough volume to make sure the people still lingering around us heard it clearly, like he wanted an audience for this. The smirk on my face slowly faded. Alright, I was done taking all this from him. Even if I wasn't fully recovered, I could still push myself a little, at least enough to give him a black eye he'd have to explain to people for weeks, something to remind him this wasn't as one sided as he thought. The firm grip the guards had on me had loosened

Chapter 012Karion’s POV“Hold on, I’d like a word with him,” jubril’s voice said, stopping the guards before they began dragging me out, the sudden authority in his tone enough to make even the manager freeze mid step.“Sir, are you sure? I mean he’s not worth you wasting your time and energy on, he’s a nobody,” the manager said quickly, his eyes darting between me and jubril like he was trying to gauge whether he should still be siding against me.Jubril completely ignored the manager and took a step forward, his presence somehow filling up more of the room than it had a right to.“Why the hostile behavior kay?” Jubril said, calling me by my nickname like we were suddenly friends again “When I first saw you from over there, I thought I might have been seeing double, but I’ve known you too long not to recognize how your hair is, and that dragon tattoo at the back of your neck sealed the nail in the coffin. And when I came to holla at you, you grab me by my suit? Do you realize how ex

Chapter 11Karion's POVFuck.Out of every possible Louis Vuitton store they could have shown up in, it just had to be this particular one at this particular time.I should have probably just listened to the manager when he told me to leave. If I had, I wouldn't be standing here about to run into them again. It's not even like I can turn my back and blend in with the other customers, what am wearing makes me stand out the most in the entire store, so it was only a matter of time before they spotted me anyway. They both walked in feeling proud, feeling like the whole world existed just to make way for them, their steps slow and unhurried like the ground itself owed them something. Watching jubril carry himself like that made me sick to my guts, because the man he's become right now, the rich, almighty man he's parading around as, only exists because of me.A small realization crept up on me then, after he told his guys to kill me, I don't think he actually knew that I survived. Chapter 010Karion’s POV“Well, it’s only natural for someone like you to think something like that when am dressed like this” once again, I gestured towards my gown “but you really shouldn’t judge someone you know nothing about just by their looks you know” I added hoping he would probably listen, but let’s me be honest with myself, from the way he has been talking, guys like him doesn’t even give people like me a chance. He looked at me the way someone would look at a stain on an expensive rug, something that shouldn’t be there in the first place.“Oh, so your preaching now?” He said while letting out a small scoff “I shouldn’t judge people by looks alone huh? Should I tell you how stupid that saying of yours is? If I were to call someone here to evaluate our bank accounts just by looks, and the person decided to take your stupid saying and pick you as the more wealthy man between the both of us and me as the less wealthy, even with how your looking and how am looking, do you se
