CHAPTER 35

Russell woke up and found himself in his bedroom. His head was neatly wrapped up in bandages. He had no idea how long he was out, but the pain and swelling was still very much there.

“I remember falling down in the street…” he murmured to himself. “How did I end up here?”

A second later, he remembered what he had done. He had beaten Natasha with a hockey stick. He didn’t seem the least bit happy now. God only knew where his heart was now.

His anger hadn’t fixed anything.

He still felt betrayed. He still felt like screaming at the sky. He still had no one to hold onto tightly.

Other than telling himself that he was alright, was there anything else he could do?

Could he love another woman? Could he trust another woman again? Could he dance with another woman with his heart full of happiness? Could love flow through his veins again?

He was trying, but it was still hurting and haunting.

All the thinking hurt him some more.

Just then, James entered the room. “You woke up! That’s great.” He
