The cold rain slashed sideways across the desolate expanse of the North Harbor container terminal, mixing with the foul smell of stagnant sea water and heavy diesel engine smoke. Industrial spotlights flickered overhead in the gale-force wind, casting long, sinister shadows across towering stacks of rusted steel shipping crates.

BOOM!

A violent explosion shattered the quiet night. Fire roared twenty feet into the dark sky as the terminal's primary security checkpoint gate blew inward, sending twisted metal shrapnel raining down onto the wet asphalt.

"Move in! Search every single warehouse!" a harsh, raspy voice roared through a megaphoned radio channel. "Vance’s private security team isn't scheduled to take official control of this harbor until eight o'clock tomorrow morning! That gives us six full hours to empty every single high-value crate in sectors three through seven! Anything we can't carry out on the heavy haulers, burn it to the ground!"

Over fifty heavily armed men dressed in dark tactical gear poured through the breached perimeter. They carried military-grade assault rifles, heavy crowbars, and incendiary charges. At the head of their convoy sat a massive, armored matte-black Humvee, its heavy tires crushing shattered glass and debris.

Sitting in the front passenger seat of the Humvee was Richard Cole—the feared commander of the city's underground security syndicate and the ruthless older uncle of Hector Cole. His face was scarred from years of brutal street warfare, and his eyes were cold, dark, and reptilian. Beside him lay a high-caliber assault rifle, its steel barrel reflecting the flickering orange flames of the destroyed gate.

"Boss," a scarred lieutenant in the driver's seat whispered, glancing nervously at the side mirror as they drove past towering rows of cargo containers. "What if that kid Caleb Vance shows up? The urgent reports from the corporate auction house said he completely broke Hector's spirit with pure, unlimited cash."

Richard Cole let out a cruel, guttural laugh, spitting a dark mouthful of tobacco juice out the open window into the mud.

"Hector is a soft-handed, pathetic coward who spent his entire life playing with numbers on paper," Richard growled, tapping his heavy leather combat boot against his rifle stock. "This kid Vance thinks having a bank account full of hundreds of millions makes him an untouchable king. He doesn't understand how the real world operates when the lights go out. Money buys paper, but blood buys real power. If that little parasite shows up here tonight, I won't just slap his face—I’ll chop off his limbs and feed his remains to the harbor sharks."

Right on cue, two bright halogen headlights cut through the thick rain and fog from the far end of the terminal main strip.

A single luxury sedan—a sleek, dark Phantom—was driving slowly down the narrow lane between the towering rows of shipping containers. It didn't speed up. It didn't attempt to evade or pull away. It pulled to a smooth, completely silent stop thirty yards directly in front of the fifty armed syndicate mercenaries.

[Ding!] [Extreme Lethal Intent & Ambush Threat Detected!] [Calculating Hostile Combat Force: 52 Armed Targets.] [Sub-Quest Triggered: 'Underground Clean-up'!] [Clear the Harbor Threat to Claim Master-Level Combat Mastery & 20,000 System Points!]

Inside the back seat of the Phantom, Caleb Vance casually adjusted his silver cufflinks. His face was as completely serene as an icy mountain lake. Sitting in the driver's seat, Mr. Sterling’s hands trembled slightly as he stared through the rain-streaked windshield at the wall of loaded assault rifles pointed directly at their vehicle.

"Mr. Vance," Sterling said through gritted teeth, his voice laced with suffocating anxiety. "They have heavy military weaponry. I have already notified our executive legal team to draft emergency warrants, but the municipal police response to this private industrial district will take at least twenty minutes..."

"Twenty minutes is twenty minutes too long, Sterling," Caleb said smoothly, reaching out and opening the heavy rear door. "Stay in the car and keep the motor running."

"Mr. Vance! Wait—"

Caleb stepped out into the pouring rain. He didn't wear a raincoat, nor did he carry an umbrella. Dressed in his impeccably tailored three-piece Italian suit, he stood completely alone in the center of the dark asphalt, his posture straight, his eyes cold and sharp as diamond blades as he looked down the line of fifty armed men blocking his path.

Richard Cole kicked open the door of his Humvee and stepped down into the muddy ground, holding his assault rifle casually over his shoulder. A vicious, mocking sneer split his scarred face as he stared down the young man standing in the rain.

"Well, well, well," Richard shouted over the sound of the falling rain and howling wind, his voice dripping with arrogance. "If it isn't the grand billionaire, Mr. Caleb Vance! You actually had the absolute stupidity to come down here alone? Where are your expensive private bodyguards, kid? Did you forget to buy them at the auction house?"

The fifty armed syndicate thugs burst into loud, deafening laughter, racking the slides of their automatic weapons, the sharp metallic clicks echoing sinisterly across the vast shipping yards.

"You must be Richard Cole," Caleb said, his voice quiet, yet somehow penetrating the roaring storm as if he were speaking directly into everyone's ear. "I’ll give you exactly one chance. Drop your weapons, drop onto your knees, and crawl out of my harbor. If you do that right now, I’ll let you leave with your lives."

The mocking laughter instantly died down, replaced by a heavy, incredulous silence across the perimeter.

Richard Cole blinked, almost suspecting he had misheard the boy. Then, his scarred face twisted into an expression of pure, murderous fury.

"You arrogant little dog!" Richard roared, raising his rifle and aiming it straight at Caleb's chest. "You think you're still sitting in an air-conditioned room playing with money?! I've slaughtered men ten times tougher than you before breakfast! Men! Break his legs! I want him kneeling in the mud while I gut him like a fish!"

"Kill him!" five large, leather-clad mercenaries roared simultaneously, lunging forward with heavy iron pipes, tactical combat knives, and raised rifles, charging at Caleb from three different directions.

Caleb didn't flinch. He didn't even raise his arms to assume a defensive guard.

[Level-2 God-Tier Martial Expertise Activating...] [Kinetic Perception Upgraded by 300%!] [Enemy Trajectories Plotted!]

To Caleb’s enhanced perception, the five charging men suddenly seemed to move in extreme slow-motion. Every muscular contraction, every swinging angle, every single drop of rain falling off their weapons was crystal clear in his mind.

SWISH!

The first mercenary swung a heavy lead pipe down toward Caleb’s skull with full force.

Caleb took a single micro-step to the left, letting the heavy metal pipe graze his suit jacket by less than a quarter of an inch. Before the attacker could even begin to recover his momentum, Caleb’s hand shot forward like a striking viper, grabbing the man’s throat and slamming him down onto the hard concrete with terrifying, unnatural force.

CRACK!

The concrete cracked under the thug's skull as he went instantly limp, completely unconscious before his body fully hit the ground.

Without slowing his movement by a fraction of a second, Caleb pivoted smoothly on his heel. He grabbed the second attacker’s incoming knife arm, twisting the limb backward with a brutal, fluid motion.

SNAP!

The mercenary screamed in agony as his elbow joint buckled backward. Caleb grabbed the falling combat knife out of mid-air with his left hand, reversed his grip, and rammed the heavy steel butt of the handle directly into the third attacker's lower jaw, shattering his teeth and sending him flying ten feet backward into a pile of wooden shipping pallets.

The remaining two mercenaries froze mid-stride, their eyes wide with absolute horror.

In less than three seconds, three elite syndicate fighters had been utterly neutralized without Caleb even getting a single drop of mud on his polished shoes.

[Ding!] [Psychological Shock & Terror Detected from Enemy Mercenaries!] [Received: +4,500 System Points!]

Richard Cole’s jaw tightened in utter disbelief. Cold sweat began to mix with the heavy rain trickling down his scarred forehead. "Shoot him! Shoot him right now, you idiots! Open fire!"

"FIRE!"

A dozen men raised their automatic rifles at once, pulling their triggers in a desperate panic.

Before their fingers could fully depress the triggers, Caleb’s eyes flashed with a cold, terrifying light. He kicked a heavy lead pipe lying on the ground. The pipe flew through the rain like a cannonball, slamming violently into the chest of the lead shooter, blasting him backward into three other men and throwing their firing line into complete chaos.

Caleb transformed into a dark phantom, closing the distance between them with impossible speed.

THUD! CRACK! BAM!

The horrific sounds of breaking bones, shattered jaws, and agonizing screams echoed relentlessly through the dark terminal. Caleb moved between the armed thugs like an ancient god of war executing divine judgment. Heavy steel blades were shattered with bare palm strikes, rifle barrels were bent like soft lead tubing, and heavily trained mercenaries were tossed aside like ragdolls into the dark, freezing sea water below the pier decks.

Within four short minutes, forty-five of the fifty elite syndicate operatives were lying groaning on the soaked asphalt, clutching broken ribs, shattered shoulders, and fractured limbs.

The heavy rain washed the blood down the storm drains, leaving only five men left standing—and all five were trembling violently, holding their weapons with completely numb, shaking hands, far too terrified to take a single step forward.

Richard Cole stood near his Humvee, his rifle shaking uncontrollably in his grip. His face had gone completely pale, his eyes filled with a deep, paralyzing horror. This wasn't a man he was fighting—it was a monster wearing a human face.

"Monster..." Richard whispered, his raspy voice cracking with panic. "You're a fucking monster..."

Caleb stepped over the unconscious body of the syndicate lieutenant, walking slowly toward Richard. His black leather shoes made crisp, steady clicking sounds against the wet pavement.

"I gave you a choice, Richard," Caleb said, his tone icy and completely devoid of human warmth. "You chose wrong."

Panicked beyond reason, Richard raised his assault rifle, aiming directly at Caleb's head at point-blank range. "Stay back! Stay back or I’ll blow your head off! I swear to God I’ll pull the trigger!"

Caleb didn't stop. He took another step forward into the barrel. "Do it."

Desperate and driven insane by sheer terror, Richard pulled the trigger.

CLICK!

Nothing happened. The firing pin jammed uselessly on a wet, defective round.

"No... NO!" Richard screamed in a panic, frantically trying to rack the bolt back to clear the jammed chamber.

Before his hands could complete the motion, Caleb was already standing directly in front of him.

Caleb reached out, his hand gripping the solid steel barrel of the assault rifle. With a simple flex of his fingers, the heavy metal receiver of the military rifle buckled and twisted under Caleb’s bare grip like wet cardboard, completely destroying the weapon.

Caleb tossed the ruined metal junk onto the ground.

Then, his hand shot out like a lightning strike, clamping around Richard Cole’s neck like a heavy steel vise. He lifted the two-hundred-pound man straight off his feet with a single arm, holding him suspended five feet in the air over the edge of the dark, churning ocean pier water.

"Gah... aggh..." Richard kicked his legs wildly, his hands tearing uselessly at Caleb’s iron wrist, his eyes bulging as oxygen was completely cut off from his lungs.

"Your nephew thought money could save him," Caleb whispered into Richard’s ear, his eyes glowing with an intense, terrifying light. "You thought violence could save you. You are both dead wrong. In this city, I am the only law."

[Ding!] [Target Richard Cole Completely Broken & Subdued!] [Sub-Quest 'Underground Clean-up' Completed!] [Received: +20,000 System Points!] [Current Balance: 35,300 System Points!]

Just as Caleb was about to snap Richard’s neck and toss his body into the ocean depths below, his encrypted satellite phone inside his suit jacket suddenly vibrated with an urgent, high-priority distress alarm ring.

It was the dedicated emergency line linked directly to St. Jude’s VIP Medical Center—the secure facility where Caleb's sick younger sister, Lily, was currently staying under twenty-four-hour guard.

Caleb maintained his grip on Richard's throat, reaching into his inner suit pocket with his free hand and pressing the answer key.

"Speak," Caleb commanded sharply.

Through the phone speaker, the panicked, breathless voice of Dr. Montgomery echoed out over a background filled with screaming nurses, shattering glass, and heavy tactical gunfire!

"Mr. Vance! Help! They've breached the main VIP ward!" Dr. Montgomery screamed frantically over the chaos. "An elite rogue assassin unit calling themselves the 'Shadow Serpent Syndicate' has cut all primary power to the building! They've taken your sister Lily hostage inside her room! They say... they say if you don't surrender all your corporate assets and turn yourself in within twenty minutes... they will inject her with a lethal neurotoxin live on video!"

A suffocating, apocalyptic killing intent instantly exploded from Caleb’s body, so cold and terrifying that the pouring rain falling around him seemed to freeze solid in mid-air!
