Davien walked into the villa, when Anna walked into the foyer at the same time.

She walked straight to the center table and slapped a document on the table.

"Sign it." She demanded, hardly paying attention to him.

"What is this?" He asked, taking a glance first at the document before looking back at her in demand for an answer.

Instead of answering him, she walked towards one of the couches and settled in, as though standing there with him was a bother.

"Don't bother me with questions." She replied coldly. "Pick it up to find out."

Seeing the way she was reacting, he realised that he wouldn't get much out of her unless he checked the document.

He picked up the document and brought out the files. His eyes quickly scurried through the heading that boldly stated,

DIVORCE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ANNA BENJAMIN AND DAVIEN GHYS

"What is--?" Davien couldn't believe his eyes as he struggled to understand what has been presented to him.

"Do not waste my time. Pick up the pen and do what's needful." She added, clearly stating that he was already becoming a nuisance.

Now that Sir Benjamin was in a critical condition and was set to announce his will, she didn't see any more reason to remain married to Davien and fulfil the old

man's wish. After all, she was certain that she'll be named heir to the Benjamin's assets.

"Is this really what you want?" Davien asked, seeing how resolute she looked about the decision.

She looked like she has already finalized the thoughts and if it wasn't formality, she wouldn't even be here seeking his signature.

"Don't nag me, Davien. You can see clearly that we are world's apart. Our worlds can never meet." She answered. "If you have any dignity left, sign these papers and let this be over with."

Davien couldn't believe that all the years that he had spent in this family trying to be a good husband, doing the chores obediently, and trying to please her, was nothing but being a nuisance to her. It hurt him really deeply.

"Anna..." He wanted to make a comment but realised that it wasn't worth it. He wasn't willing to change her mind after all.

He nodded slowly and placed the document back on the table. He signed it.

"Don't worry, I won't kick you out and have you homeless." She stood up. "You can pack your bags and move to the servants' quarters." She added.

She picked up the document, standing directly in front of him as he stared despicably at him,

“From now on, there’s nothing between us. You’re just a servant in this house.

Your job is to clean every corner of this villa, and I’ll pay you $1,000 a month—nothing more.”

She walked out immediately after those words.

....

The next day, Davien had just finished trimming the garden and was returning to the servant quarters when someone suddenly walked into his path.

"That's what I love to see." Khloe giggled as she looked at him from his head to toe.

He held the cutter in one hand, a shovel in the other, his clothes covered in greens and dirt. Obviously this sight seemed to please her.

"Just keep acting like the good dog you are, and then there will be no problem." She added. "If you dare to act up, I'll starve you until only skeletons are left of you."

Davien didn't bother to say a word to her. Hearing her speak was already too much of a nuisance than to keep standing there. He made to walk past her.

She suddenly walked into his path to block his way.

"What again?" His voice was hard as he glared at her.

Khloe sneered as she smashed the vase against the wall.

“Oops—slipped. Well? Clean it up!”

Davien let out a cold laugh. Typical Khloe—always playing her childish games. With a sigh, he stood and stepped forward.

“Stop.” Khloe’s voice cut through the air again, still unsatisfied. “I’ve changed my mind. The outer wall of my bedroom hasn’t been cleaned in three days. Go scrub off that disgusting rust. I want it spotless.”

She leaned in, her smile sharpening like a knife. “If I see even a speck of dust… I’ll push you off myself.”

In that moment, Davien felt a chill crawl up his spine—Khloe’s eyes were gleaming with the twisted delight of a living Annabelle.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing.

"Hello, mom." She answered, putting the call on speaker.

"Go and pick Vincent Maers up. He's on his way." Lydia Benjamin, her mother said.

"My brother-in-law is on his way?" Khloe sounded so excited and left immediately.

"Brother-in-law?" Davien muttered, wondering that it's been hardly a day since Anna divorced him.

Under the blazing sun, Davien clung to the outside of Khloe’s window, unprotected, watching Anna throw herself into another man’s arms with joy.

A dull ache settled in his chest. So it was Vincent—he was the one she truly loved.

What about himself? He was nothing more than a tool—Anna’s pawn in the fight for the inheritance.

Davien’s heart shattered, piece by piece.

Suddenly, bang! Khloe stormed in and towards Davien.

"How dare you steal from me?" She slapped Davien really hard. "Where is my necklace?!"

I'm here to pick something that belongs to me." Davien said boldy, making a move forward. His guts seemed to pissed them all off. "Where do you think you are going to?"
